I can't believe it lasts like 2 years without promoting my music, I see your video and it changes my whole course! Thank you so much! also a Melodic Techno Producer here, Cheers!
The thing that really helps about SoundCloud as a DSP is that it is full of artists who are generally supportive of other artists. People on SoundCloud aren’t trying to listen to the biggest top 40 hits, they want to hear new music. That mixed with the OP power of SoundCloud’s “start a radio” function that actually gives you songs that are similar unlike Spotify’s radios which are kinda mid. SoundCloud is amazing for DJs who are looking for new tracks to play, and the free upload nature has been up there with bandcamp for being where the underground thrives. Only complaint about SoundCloud is the UI could be better, but all of its other benefits make it a staple for me. I could see how someone who doesn’t make music or care about underground music would find SoundCloud irrelevant but those people aren’t the people that most artists starting out are probably targeting
very true bro you nailed it to the tee. we want other likeminded artists and fans hearing our music when first staring out not the mainstream average joe.
Quality and quantity go hand and hand my advice build up a vault of quality music then drop consistently that’s what I been doing and it’s been working but I didn’t realize SoundCloud is popping again so ima give that a try
Also make playlists with similar artists and your music. Make sure to add the similar music to the playlist right after their release so your playlist will show up first. That way their fans will automatically listen to your song because it's in the same playlist. It has worked for me so many times.
Thank you brother! New to putting music out. Lots of songs but absolutely zero experience mixing or promoting! Thank you for putting this out! Taking it to heart!

Thank you for the advice! Question : I can't share audio snippets of my tracks, despite updating SoundCloud. How'd you enable the audio snippets feature? 😊
Are they not still deleting accounts for posting remixes? I got off Soundcloud years ago quick cause they were destroying the work people had put in building their accounts off remixes
I have been releasing my music on other streaming platforms. Can i start uploading those musics on SoundCloud even if i already released them a few years back?
They sample sounds from the track or extract parts that they use in the remix. There are also softwares and A.I. that can separate stems and extract vocals. Or you get the artist to send you the files
Nope, not if you do a taylor swift song. Reach out to smaller pop singer/song-writers in your area, ask for permission to remix and the masters/stems. Some will be happy to split revenue, some will want full monetization and a contract - try ones that do not a have ironclad label contracts. The bright side is that you're also building connections as a producer at this point.
Instagram likes to test features on different accounts. If you don't have the feature that means you either need to update the app or your account doesn't have it available as yet.
not if its a free download. and also, Distrokid and many other distributors have an option to report that you did a cover, which then they automatically pay the original creator their share of the royalty
Hey maybe a noob question but, as far as doing remixes. If I buy a song on bandcamp (digital download), can I legally make a remix and share it with soundcloud? What about pitching it to a streaming service like spotify? Thanks.
Legally, you need the original artist/label/publisher to approve a remix for publishing. This involves a contract, revenue split, terms for promotion and publishing. A non official remix is called a bootleg, and can never be published. I've pushed bootlegs to youtube and soundcloud for years, but you can't monetize of them (you can argue it's just for fun) but offering them as downloads is also illegal. Make bootlegs if you want to, but you're going to get takedown requests and even a lawsuit if one of them gets big.
Great video, but you said people should only have their own music on their page - yet you constantly promote repostexchange where the whole concept is to repost stuff (not an attack, just a question)
And that's why I buy credits 😊... If you don't buy credits then you have to repost someone else's music on your page. In that cause I recommend getting SoundCloud unlimited so you can have the first 5 songs on your page (spotlight section) be yours
@@AdrianBarrin Yeah luckily I've got Next pro so I'm all good! if you're just starting out though that can be hard. I have reposted over 550 tracks already for credits haha. So you could remove all your reposts when you are certan that 3 weeks has passed! Also, love your content man. You've helped me a lot! Brilliant music too!

I would like to know too
Do you think SoundCloud is really a better platform than spotify or anything else when it comes to fan base building??
I do. Because people can actually interact with you. And you can with them too. It's more closer to home than Spotify which is more distant
Yes! Spotify is not for small artists that want to build a fanbase.
Unless you make absolute bangers! If you're music is so so good then it will do well on Spotify

@@AdrianBarrin a remix usually involves sampling from the original song, so it's NOT a cover. a cover song can not use any of the original recording.

can djs make money off of the mixes
Not really. But DJs can use mixes to build their fanbase and get more subscribers on RUclips and eventually monetize their channel
