Since many of us dabble in more than one craft it is awesome when supplies can 'cross-over'. Thank you for doing tutorials that enable us to have multiple uses from our 'supply stash'.
Love these so much!!! Watched yesterday but I couldn't comment because my phone wasn't letting me get in!!! I watch on my television and comment on my phone. That way I've found that I can see more of the lovely detail. Love the ringing bell (hehe hehe). Keep on crafting and creating.
I've never seen embossing powder used before. I guess I live under a rock or something. It's really cool! Another thing I'm gonna have to get!! Aaagghh!
I have found this video so helpful I am new to resin I've had it for Christmas just gone and I'm really looking forward to trying,. Knowing these things are tried and tested and you have given your honest opinion if it works or not is very helpful thank you ever so much I love working with glitter
Jumped straight on to Resin Colour for some of that heat resistant resin, shame they’re out of stock but will definitely use that code as soon as they are back!!
Hi Steve. Got my resin yesterday. I am not sure what I've done wrong but the casting didn't come out great. I have prepared the resin exactly like I normally do with other resins I use. Mixed it first (the bottles), warm the resin for some time. It was hard to mix them together to start with. Needed a lot more time mixing and the amount of air bubbles I had in it was crazy. But thought I leave it on the side for a bit, let the bubbles go away and get rid of the rest with a lighter. Pouring was OK no problems there. Although it says 20 pot life on the bottle, two hours later resin was still like a liquid. So I left it over night under my heat lamp (around 25C°) and left some in the cap as well. Resin in the mold is still gooey and the leftover in the cap is still almost liquid 😱 I got it yesterday and maybe I didn't warm the resin long enough, I don't know but that's my experience. Ah, I got the shallow cast resin up to 10mm, 2:1 ratio by weight. I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you. Filip
brilliant work, and all stuff I was wondering about. I wonder if a spritz of matte sealant over the glitter colors (separate sprays for each color used) would help keep the glitter bits from travelling to other parts? Also, instead of foiliing glue, you might consider using UV foil glue. It's just brushed on and cured and tacky. Ready for placement of whatever needs sticking on. Very good to know about the embossing powder. I would've thought you couldn't use it due to the melting thing. Love it! Thank you, Steve! And I love your new page too. Maybe one day, the resin company will offer international shipping.
They are beautiful. I'm new at resin and to me it's very complicated but i love it if one happens to turn out right. You are very good at explaining what you are doing. Thanks and God bless.
Another entertaining video. I use sparkle embossing powder around the edge of finished coasters. It doesn’t need sealing after and gives a great finish. It can be slightly rough depending on powder but it looks great.
Never thought about embossing powder before. I have heaps of different colours. Absolutely love the results of all of them. Im from Australia so no chance of me using the link but all good. Love watching your videos. Thank you
Hiya Steve. You should try some stencil glue on the backs of your stencils to stop the glue or paints seeping underneath and giving the design a much crisper finish. All the best, Diane, UK :)
Hmm, nice and informative, thank you! I used mica powder for my stencil design with resin and I did not need to use the heat gun to let it dry. I also want to try stamps, though, however, I need to figure if we can use acrylic paint or line the part of the stamp we want to use with a marker, for example for text stamps, you know, making Thank You coasters, or well wishes, etc. If you could do that experiment in the next few days it'll be helpful, much appreciated, if not, I'll be leaving another comment here if it was successful after I've done it!
Okay, I’m about 30 minutes into my very first resin piece. Bought the tray mold with the handy stand you featured in a couple videos. I followed all your recommendations for safety and mixing. Maybe I missed the one about putting long hair into, at the very least, a ponytail or better yet a bun. You don’t happen to know how to get resin out of hair do you? 😂
Hi and thank you for your informative videos. I’m new to resin and I’m in the USA. Can you recommend a heat resistant resin for coasters and trivets etc? Please and thank you
Can you stamp or paint a stamp with adhesive like the gold leaf glue and put them on a resin or the mold it's self, then pour mica powder over it instead of embossing? Or paint a stamp with acrylic to make an image on the mold or resin? I've done straight mica powder to the mold and it makes a sheen when you tilt it... but trying to make it more noticeable.... I've watched this and the other video a billion times 🤣💚💚
Hey Steve, The one thing I've never seen in resin is nail foils. You know, the stuff they use on fake nails? Maybe apply it to the molds before pouring the resin?
Question I have seen you do stickers and tattoos in your work. My question is this can you use the plastics left over from a 3 doodler in the molds and can you use decorative duct tape as you would a sticker and could you use ribbons in there resin as well? I have a 3 doodler and have small bits left and I thought
When you mix glitter with Mica in resin, the glitter tends to sink to the bottom but if you know that you can get a two for one design if you anticipate that the glitter is going to sink.
Steve have you ever tried to use the gold leave glue on a stamp (instead of ink) and then use glitter or Mica. If it worked you could have a glue pad instead of a ink pad. Work smarter not harder if it works.
I love your experiments and ideas but find the constant changing camera angles and zooming in and out quite hard to watch. Anyway, keep the great ideas coming 😀
Where the devil is the join button? I’ve been all over your site and cannot find it… I’m using an iPad, does that make a difference? I know you can’t view community posts on an iPad, so is there a reason why an iPad user can’t see a join button???? I click on the link in the description and there is jo join button that I can see after I click that link,,,
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts I'm surprised it seems there are many random items you guys can't get, that is so unfair! Thank you for your time, the search continues for me, still trying to find a decent heat resistant resin.

I actually like the pastel colours the embossing powders came out in. The white backgrounds give them a china plate kind of look. Love them
Black would be great background and the colors would really pop
Thank you, Steve -- for trying things we may not have considered! :)
I was so happy the embossing powder worked out! I think they look great! I think a black background would look fantastic too. Keep up the experiments
Thx for experimenting for us Steve.
Its always interesting to learn of the results.
Take care 🦉🎨
You are sooo silly and I love it. I have so much fun watching your videos and hearing your antics!
You sir are an endless ocean of great ideas. Thank you!

Its really cool to see how it melts into a plastic. Many vids on yt but usually for card making. GL
Your videos are amazing!!! And thank you for showing the ones that aren't perfect too!!
Fantastic experiment. I’ve been wondering about doing this myself and was about to try it. This video came along at just the right time
Love the glitter and painted one!!

These came out very well. They are quite dainty and delicate looking. Great job! Cheers, Paige C.

What’s your recommendation for those of us in the USA?
I just used ur link to order some resin 😉
My fav is the glitter but agreed needs darker leaves.

I would like to knw if I can get it in NY
You can mix alcohol in your mica powders and also paint projects.
I like using the holographic embossing powder in my toe bens of paws or as stars in resin moons, have yet to heat it lol
If you don't have the embossing powder can one use the ink instead? If so can I use acrylic paint too?

Could you stamp in black or coloured ink and just pour the resin over rather than emboss
The resin you are speaking of where can I find them? I don't see it on your video item list
Oppps nevermind! It's UK only! I'm in the Us
Yeh I use the marine one its wonderful

Wow how much is coffee in the UK? JK lol
I DONT like it at all!
and why bother to say anything at all then. Unless you clarify what you didn't like, that's just trolling.
