    Wow, that black one with the gold on it was gorgeous Steve!
    Is it possible to cut those resin shapes that you created into something beautiful or are they just way too thick now? Thank you Steve for another positive, cheerful, motivating video. Whenever I see one of your videos is on RUclips, I rush to watch it in. I just get so much pleasure out of watching you experimenting! Your my favourite RUclipsr. 😀😁

    At first I was wondering if it had enough depth but nope I was wrong lol. Also, maaaaaaaaannnn it’s amazing with it without the paint added. The black and gold tbh looks great as well.

    I love this. I can see doing this in a coaster with a dark color on bottom (1/2 full) and the emboss mold on top. I would let that cure to remove the embossed mold out and then paint with chameleon powder and clear resin on top. Similar to the cling wrap method. Would look beautiful in tray form as well

    Another thing you can do is run a sheet of clay through a pasta machine (or stack some playing cards to the height you want on either side of the clay and use a rolling pin to flatten the clay) and place it on the smooth side of a cereal box (as many layers high as you want), lay the back part of the embossing folder on the clay then carefully press it down. Carefully cut away the clay so it matches the size of the folder and smooth the edges so it's seamless. Then you can cut the cereal box around the clay and folder to give it a border however thick you want it and put the tape around the cereal box as a barrier for the silicone mold. This mold can then let you make deeper pours instead of just thin sheets. The folder should peel right off the clay once the silicone sets.
    BTW, if you use something like Legos to make the barrier/dam instead of tape, you can get more even edges on your mold, except this method works best when sticking things down on a sheet of sticker paper. 😄

    I actually just went out and got a bunch of embossing powders and I got the embossing pens I also got the embossing stamp pad because the embossing glue I got it comes out really liquidy and it comes out fast and it when I heat it up it bubbles up so when I think I need to do is use a paintbrush to do like the thing you did a couple videos ago where you took the embossing ink and glue and you did that very beautiful pattern with the UV resin and then you went over it with the embossing glue and the ink and then you put a clear coat over it after you put in color of course it was beautiful and inspired me completely so I went on a bunch of embossing stuff and I have been trying to get familiar with the embossing powders and glues and all that stuff and how they work the stamping and all that and I will let you know

  • @WellISaidIt
    @WellISaidIt 2 года назад +4

    If you are open to suggestions I've been thinking of background or individual stamps and how to make moulds from them. I was thinking stamping air dry clay and then filling that in with silicone. You can get air dry clay £4 for a big block at The Works.
    Maybe you would like to mess around with that to see if you can get it to work?

    • @WellISaidIt
      @WellISaidIt 2 года назад +1

      @@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts just checked it out. Yep you can do it without the air dry clay but I guess if you wanted the inverse like you did with the folders you could do the extra step with the clay.

    To get a more accurate mark for cutting out shapes, ink the edge of the mold and press it onto the pattern piece. Cut along the inide of the line and the cut out piece will fit perfectly.

    Very cool! I use UV resin mainly and often make one time use molds using oyumaru. It's a thermoplastic you can heat up with hot water or heat gun. I have made molds from rubber stamps. It's more detailed than hot glue but will lose its shape due to the heat from curing. It's too expensive for larger projects but this is awesome. Thanks💞 Great work as always!!!!

    Hey Steve I'm new here and I wanted to share a trick I did with resin. I put a body tattoo to the bottom of my mold and added the resin. The resin picked up the tattoo beautifully and I'm so excited it worked. Thanks for all your tips and tricks. I'm learning so much.

      I followed the tattoo directions. Waited a little and removed the backing. Then poured my resin color and sparkles. I did have to apply a small coating of resin to the tattoo once I removed the item from the mold. I'm not sure how to send you a picture of it. But I'm happy to send it.

    If you use a piece of clear plastic like from a clamshell packaging material stuff, cut it to fit in the embossing folder or cut it to a circle shape first and run that through your Sizzix machine you won't have to cut your folders. I did that to make a "Stained glass" effect with alcohol inks. then you make the mold with your newly cut plastic.

    Hi Steve. I love the idea of making molds out of these folders; and they're all really nice, but I'm confused about what you wanted to happen when you put the cut blue silicone molds into the coaster molds? Is it if you poured resin into the bottom of the coaster molds, and let it set up a little, that the imprint would go onto the cured resin coaster?
    Sorry Steve; my brain is running a little slow on this one; I'm just lost with the outcome that you were going for once you put the blue silicone circles in your coaster molds. Would you please explain what you meant to happen by this? Thankx a lot.
