- Talking some prep to play with George Porter Jr of the Meters next week, finally discovering the Nobels ODR1 and catching up the other day with my dear friend and session legend Tom Bukovac.
Good times indeed! Видеоклипы
Good stuff JD. Yeah, thanks to Uncle Larry for reminding us about you and that you are now on YT. Definitely subbing to your channel.
Ditto
Which episode is that in?
That slide playing was insane. Super haunting and bad ass. Crazy talented player.
I grew up in New Orleans and The Meters were like royalty. My band was lucky enough to open for George Porter in the mid 90's and he was just the coolest and most supportive dude. Sure wish I could be there to see two inspiring musicians like you guys play together. Cheers JD!
Thanks for coming back to RUclips with the greasy goodness. A collaboration with you and Donovan sounds fantastic! He’s such a creative musician and a cool dude. I’ve been digging Tom Bukovac and all he’s putting out since the pandemic started. Glad to hear you guys are connected. So much great content lately, it’s very inspiring. Keep up the great work and hope to see you live soon.
Now I can't stop playing that lick. Hey from Boston,Ma
found my way here from tom's hoomeskoolin channel. good to see you on you tube!
Saw your show at Heights Theater in Texas… it was freakin’ fantastic!!
Damn! that slide action is sweet! Thanks for starting this channel and thanks to Uncle Larry for turning us on. Peace.
Sounding great, brother! Good to see your face
I love the amp hum in the background - don't change that - helps us feel like we're in the room for the hang - Duane Betts new album is great too!!!!
Thought I’d stop by and subscribe on Uncle Larry’s recommendation! Very glad I did! Loved your slide playing! Looking forward to hearing more in the future! And could not agree with you more on the subject of the Meters and Mr Leo Nocentelli!
Always great to see JD! Peace and Love
Oh man…thanks for the tips and demo on “People Say”! I love you brother…thanks for all the inspiration and the great hangs-you and Adam are loved and missed here in Houston!
Sounding amazing! Hoping to catch you up north Boston area soon. Keep up the grove!
Wow, that slide playing was Nasty! Love it!
Cool JD! Welcome to the Frey!
SICK slide tone
Really enjoyed the Mattie Schell show and can't get enough of you and Kirk down at the bowling alley.
And I believe I would shit my pants if I ever turned on some home skooling and saw you in the kitchen...
Love you 😊
Oh my gawd Simo/Adam/matt/Frankenreiter album YES 🎉
Excited! Matt is a insanely inspiring guy and we’ve become besties real fast! Good times ahead!
as mentioned by others - lovely slide playing at the end there.
Great playin JD!!
Hadn't even finished watching the video, hit the like button for Unc. 😅
I warm up with Sissy's Strut all the time when I pick up the guitar. Glad to discover your channel because that Meters stuff is my idea of a good time.
JD love the playing, dig Tom much too, keep it up
Been a fan of your playing ever since I saw you lay down those hot fills on the Johnny Cash covers with Lexington Lab Band. Love your style.
JD! Been a fan since the Don Kelley days at Roberts. Loved your appearance in the interview with Don. And still have the pick you gave me at Roberts. All the best.
Seems like you've got that homework nailed, JD...sounds great!
Diggin That Groove!
Oh hella yeah,Another amazing episode of GREASY TIME!! Been watching since its inception in the pandemic days of yore. 😂 And Uncle Larry too!! HOT S*** IN A HANDBASKET MAMA,TURN ON THE IDIOT BOX, JD SIMO'S IN THERE!!! ❤
Wicked slide tone!
So cool to hear you’re doing more RUclips stuff JD, Look forward to more videos. Still diggin’ old blackface Deluxe‘S these days? The Meters covers, wow! Yes definitely will be cool. 👌 ✌️
The Meters is probably the greatest funk and r&B band of all time, in my opinion. Their creativity, melody and rhythm writing skills are unparalleled. For a long time I refer to them as the black Beatles. It's truly a shame when you say to someone you like the Meters,... and they say "yeah, you mean Cissy strut".....
Hi JD! Haven't seen you in a while. You're still sounding great. Godspeed.
The slide up at 9:08 is 👌🏼 w that high harmonic.
Subbed JD. Cool channel!
"People Say" you gonna have a blast at the gig!
I love that you just plug into the amplifier. Pedals are a necessary evil. For sure. Even down right addictive. But it seems a lot of players forget about there amps abilities, to create the sweet tones that pass through or heads.
Anyway I love your stuff, keep it cool kind and bulletproof.✌️
Bukovac is a legend.
Dig it JD! I'm hoping you will come to Huntsville or Albertville (both in AL) to play. I just ordered a Lil King S due to your reviews.
I have always been a fan!!
Quick question…..Is the Apollo next to the OG similar, or are they more different?
I'm curious too
It’s the small things that make all the difference. They are “trying to pull me back in “ to start a band and I’m writing out how important space is and how trying to treat the song as a conversation ……..I dunno if I can go down that road again
JD Great musician and human. I saw him in Dortmund.. Wow.. Cant wait to see him again.. Where is the RED???
I hope you are around when I go down to Nashville gonna hang out with Shawn Byrne.
Yes… Mark Groubert!
The pedals are cool n all BUT! The best tone I ever heard you play - and in fact one of the best tones I ever heard live in my life - was in the ol 'Full moon Saloon' back around 2011/12 era with the Travis Mann band, directly after the Don Kelly era. That was your 335 straight through your old fender deluxe reverb. That natural overdrive was perfect. No pedal can even touch that. I think you already had the tone nailed then. Unfortunately, that amp was stolen in Italy if I recall correctly. I haven't heard a tone like that since anywhere in the world.
Buk was playing a really raunchy blues on one episode and I said it had JDSimo vibes lol and on his next episode he mentioned you.
🙌🎸⚡️🔊✨
Kid Andersen did a thing on stuff people play wrong with cissy strut GP bass part and Leo got on and said he was correct. As you showed they tend to hold off in certain parts and tricks the ear so much that i never really feel like i learned it note for note . wish the meters made more songs. Respect
Please come back to Iowa City, JD
Hey JD, love the content man! I know you went deep into the plexi world... just wondering if you had a preferred bright cap value? Cheers man
I've been trying to play people say in a way that sounds like Leo for 10 years. He's impossible, I wish more people realized how ridiculous he rhythm playin is. That intro is the coolest.
😎👍
That nobels sounds great, how do you think they compare?
Yo, what’s the name of the meters song you played you wished you could do?
