Heres a tip... Once you beat the elder.... Dig UNDER the platform and build your base there. Especially if you are near a other biomes. Once that base is established work on digging a "moat" with sharp edges or a building wall using rock to build up the terrain. The moat is perferable, because you get the same effect, but also harvest stone at the same time that can be used once you unlock the masons table. From what i have see you can build on top of the platfrom so you can build up from that once you have resources.
That would be a cool little home away from home, if we went down there during the elder guardian though, would he make the roots come up under that platform?

Just came from another Valheim video, so I'll copy the comment I made from there. These are my problems with Valheim. 1. Death punishments are incredibly annoying because they take away several hours worth of skills. I really don't think this adds anything to the game. I find it doesn't discourage poor play that leads to death, it's just an excessive punishment. Shouldn't losing all your items and having to sprint to retrieve your things while defenseless be punishment enough? 2. Portal mechanics are arbitrary and tedious. Not being able to teleport metal is a huge problem. People say that "it would make the gameplay loop too easy", but that's stupid logic. If the gameplay loop is too easy, then you should find ways to improve it other than arbitrarily limiting what tools the player can use. In this case, they have the worst of both worlds, as they'd like you to have the convenience of fast travel, but simultaneously don't want you to have the convenience of fast ore transport. It would be better if they either got rid of portals or allowed portals to transport all/no materials, instead of this blatantly arbitrary system. 3. Building physics are absolute garbage. I'm actually a huge fan of the idea they had of structural integrity and support, but the system is unintuitive and only serves to make you bang your head against a wall if you even dare to build anything bigger than a small town. 3.5. To add on to this, building material requirements are ridiculous, especially when you reach stone onwards. Three stone for a 1x1 block?? Are you serious? If you want to build anything in this game, then be prepared to spend 4 hours grinding for every 1 hour actually building. 4. Fall damage is way too strict. Falling a distance that's any greater than one and a half times your height is enough to do damage to you. Sure, it encourages you to be careful, but I find that terrain is often difficult enough that I'm being punished simply by navigating it. God help you if you're being chased by an enemy that you're too weak to defeat at the moment. You'll be stuck between getting one-shot by the enemy, or one-shot by accidentally doing the equivalent of slipping on a banana peel, and falling a handful of feet. Other than that, I'm a big fan of the game, and love playing it. The core design is one of the better ones I've seen in a game in years. I just wish I didn't have to deal with this kind of thing when playing it.
i personally think that the risk you're taking when exploring the world of valheim is one of the most important apects of that game, it makes me take the game seriously and plan everything to do when something goes wrong on my and my friends small trip. well, its like this since i died on swamps after beating elder, and my friend and me tried to get our items back for 5 hours.
Dying in the plains is the most fun. I never thought I would learn how to time dodge rolls on deathsquitoes, but I had to learn in a hurry when my dumbass died to some growths

Valheim feels like dark souls and minecraft had a baby, but they didnt teach their baby redstone engineering or spawning as a Pyromancer, so we are left with pain and suffering... but i like it.
@@itstimebombofficial Yea same bro, i was never a builder in any sandbox game but Valheim is just built different; i stayed hours building just my starter house the other day, and spent a few more hours building a ship with ValheimRaft mod just today, it's so fun and i can't explain why

@@itstimebombofficial i installed r2modman, which is a mod manager, then i just downloaded from thunderstore directly to the game folder. Your ship can glitch when you go far away from it and then render it after approaching, and it usually requires you to re-join the world while near it to fix, so keep it in mind too cause its annoying :v
U dont know pain till u go Mountains get killed and unable to retrieve your stuff yh thats right i was sent bk to bronze, then i went bk and was sent bk to the stone age 😢
Few to little new content. Modders made more stuff in their free times compared to what Iron Gate achieved in Years. And even modding is a disaster when it comes to getting the game to run.
The modding scene is dead for Valheim. After a few hundred hours the grind got too much and I hate low poly graphics and a lot of the modders that made the higher res stuff I used left and 50% of the mods I used are now gone and my game is broken and I could not go back to the vanilla garbage graphics. So I play 7 days to die instead.
For me, its just the gameplay loop that makes me quit most survival games after 100 hours. Grind, build, kill, grind, build, kill, kill boss, move to next region, grind, upgrade build, kill.
Yeah idunno what it's missing but it seems like there definitely something, this comment inspired me to get to the mountains and make a winter getaway cottage though so here we go again 🤣
Trust me, having co-op partners isn't all that much of an advantage. Trying to get other people to focus on 1 goal instead of screwing around in this game is nearly impossible.
The difficulty does scale with other players, but it's still good solo. I've played about 700 hours on servers that friends were active in, but recently started playing through solo and taking my time, it's so much fun. I missed out on a lot of stuff playing with friends, like they would get all the black metal and smelt it all while I was off in the mountains or still exploring the plains.
you have highlighted one of Valheim's problems that doesn't get talked about very often and that is having the second boss be potentially too far away. there should be more attention paid to making sure 2nd biome players don't have to contend with 5th biome enemies. that type of chaos makes for great youtube videos but it's pretty frustrating and unfair for the average player
It's honestly one of the biggest learning curves I've ever had to learn for a game, but also hard to turn into good videos lol, I might just do a house tour and call it quits on valheim until some better ideas pop up
Yeah hoe is criminally unexplained tool. The game doesn't ever explain that you need to build a fully walled in base to a network of cart roads leading to resources and biomes and outposts. You have to ignore being like minecraft where you harvest resources immediately rather develop cart roads to and past important things so you can just inhale the resources you marked that are along the roads and cart repairs, beds, docks, food stores, etc. It also doesn't explain that you should use the hoe very often when settling an area to reduce base lag because of how the world is rendered. Clearing trees and using the hoe leveling (paths is more for aesthetic) is important to the game loop.
mmm i usually get lag from having too many tamed animals. I've made paved roads going 1000s of meters to distant parts of the map with minimal performance loss. it depends on yourt rig though of course. p@@itstimebombofficial
@@itstimebombofficial unless you have hundreds of tamed animals and/or a massive 3 stone 2x4 tall, 2 wide, all roofed in, going all around your roads and base... then no, performance will be fine with a bunch of paths around (yeah talking from experience)
Just an overall boring shallow game for someone that plays single player. It is pretty cool I like the concept but just wish they had more in the game and also wish they would change the order of some of the biomes.
@@itstimebombofficial it seems some what difficult once you hit the swamp but after that the game is pretty easy after that so much so all the challenge is out the window. The hardest part of the game becomes collecting rocks to build something somewhat appealing.
I was in a server with some friends, we got up into the mountains and killed Moder, got started on the Frost Caves. Sadly the mountain we fought Moder on didn't have any, if it HAD we'd have had a lovely little keep with a portal, fireplace, storage, all the comforts you want in a biome base. Instead it was on the other side of the freaking map with the nearest portal a not inconsequential jog away. So naturally we got killed in the caves, grabbed previous gear to get our MAIN gear and died on the way up the mountain. So naturally we grabbed our PREVIOUS previous gear and went to get our- died on the mountain. We are now out of cloaks that can prevent freezing, but we do have frost resist mead. After spending an entire extended gaming session just trying to get all our gear, shitty and non-shitty alike, having eaten through a distressing amount of our food stocks, we finally retrieved our gear and logged off, swearing to come back to it again in the near future. That was SEVERAL MONTHS AGO and I still intend to get back to it someday. Just. Not yet.
Mistlands is just dumb. I mean I get it as far as misty and mystical lands as far from an artistic stand point to make another biome but to not see through the mist 100% ? Yeah, that's when I was done with the game because that for me was the third noted disingenuous decision to just add length to the game artificially and that turned me off to the game to the point where I knew there were 3 more senarios like this waiting for me in the future. Also I don't like how nothing is explained and there's no clear way forward. Too much micro management and no way to automate it. Again that right there for me is just another artificial way to lengthen the game. Meh, whatever.
Idunno I wanna get back into it but the updates are just so few and far between and it's kinda hard to enjoy it when everything is so incredibly punishing, ESPECIALLY when you die anywhere besides the planes or sometimes the black forest😮💨
@@itstimebombofficial last night I unlocked the marble building abilities to build a castle. I fell to my death. I quit the game and I'm thinking about uninstalling it. I play only on er mode because this game is too hard as is out of the box for a solo. I'm not gonna spend hours just to get my shit back or another 6-8 hours remaking everything. Overall video games aren't fun anymore. They are hard work with no tangible results unless you work three times as hard making videos about your experiences in a flooded market.

the only thing i can imagine people quit is the lack of updates and variety, the game is insane but iron gate devs are one of the laziest i have seen in video games, we waited more than 2 years for mistlands update and now around year for the next, propably last will be north pole after next 1/2 years, its just too long, they should at least give players a lot of smaller patches with new stuff because doing new world everytime just to have "new" expierience (most new update stuff is only lategame) is just stupid af
What is up with white Americans obsession with Norse mythology over the last few decades? White supremacist or identity crisis? Is it because of the History channel Viking show and Skyrim? btw I am white American with 258 hours in Valheim. This is a genuine question
Straight up, I was struggling with my faith in christianity for years and my girlfriend gave me a book she had called the way of fire and ice by ryan smith, it teaches you about a more modern norse paganism and how to avoid the white supremacist groups in the pagan culture, and a lot of parts of that book just kinda resonated with me, meditation and trying your best to respect all living things are a big part of it, as well as loyalty and keeping your word, there's probably a lot of people who just wanna think they're descendants of vikings or whatever, but I personally am just trying my best to live by the good principals that book taught me while trying to find peace in my own life as well as feel the gods the same way I used to feel the christian God, no matter what you belive tho I can always have a respectful conversation about religion and stuff, so thank you for being respectful with your comment, hope that answered a couple questions you might have🤝
It's a shame Norse paganism and mythology is associated with white supremacy. Norse mythology has as much to do with white supremacy as let's say Taoism, absolutely nothing. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything but I really hate to see ppl associate something that had nothing to do with racism until bigoted idiots hijacked it and tried to blend it with their racism. Some ppl try to be trendy or different with it etc. And for some ppl it actually resonates with them. There's a ton of wisdom in old Norse beliefs. Once I really got into it deep, it changed the way I view the world, reality, and the esoteric. Just my perspective. Also nice valheim video time bomb lmao. I just started playing it actually. Having a blast. Got wrecked in the swamp with my friends with all bronze gear the first time we went and had to run all the way back to get our stuff. Now we got a fortified base down there with a portal lol.
If I had to describe Valheim in a nutshell, it's MP hell. The more players you have, the more obnoxious it can become to get the materials to progress. Especially since Valheim...really did not have a good gearing loop until Black Metal. Add to that the likelihood of somebody getting manhandled the more people you have due to poor server optimization, and it's not rare to find your team getting annoyed killing dozens upon dozens of enemies around your level, trying to get your friend back to their body. That aside...Mist. So. Much. Mist.

Valheim feels like dark souls and minecraft had a baby, but they didnt teach their baby redstone engineering or spawning as a Pyromancer, so we are left with pain and suffering... but i like it.
Valheim is like minecraft with the tough as nails mod🤣 all pain, I've really enjoyed building lately tho lol
@@itstimebombofficial Yea same bro, i was never a builder in any sandbox game but Valheim is just built different; i stayed hours building just my starter house the other day, and spent a few more hours building a ship with ValheimRaft mod just today, it's so fun and i can't explain why
@@Gojiradogzillagodzilla valheim raft mod caught the hell out of my attention lol where do you download it? also new valheim video coming out soon , its a little bit of a fortress cottage tour with some inspiration and a tip or 2 on building!
82 hours is rookie numbers

@@itstimebombofficial Im outside all the time bru
Bro... Why do we have the exact same loadout...(1-8). not specific to sword but main hand on 3, hammer 4, bow 5 etc! Best loadout!
I think that's how my inventory auto put them and I just never changed the order🤣 balanced as all things should be
U dont know pain till u go Mountains get killed and unable to retrieve your stuff yh thats right i was sent bk to bronze, then i went bk and was sent bk to the stone age 😢
I've wondered if losing your stuff in the mountains and not having another cloak means you never get your stuff back🤣
@@itstimebombofficialfrost resist mead
Few to little new content. Modders made more stuff in their free times compared to what Iron Gate achieved in Years. And even modding is a disaster when it comes to getting the game to run.
They're too busy working on goat simulator 4 that nobody asked for🤣
@@itstimebombofficial no fucking way...
1:45 - Subscribed right here. XD
I'm glad it was worth the effort🤣
Man your lucky you have someone to play with bro, I’m just about to kill moder solo, and solo is even more painfull
It's honestly one of the biggest learning curves I've ever had to learn for a game, but also hard to turn into good videos lol, I might just do a house tour and call it quits on valheim until some better ideas pop up
I came here to learn what not to do
The main thing is make sure you place a bed when you adventure to new islands🤣
sounds like a relaxing afternoon walk compared to ark
The raptors🥲
I love this game I only quit because it kept crashing
Just wanted to say how much I love the amon amarth hoodie!
Got it from their concert lol, it was great besides the ghost fans not wanting to mosh!
haha classic valheim. Use a hoe to make a path in the swamp. It is your lifeline.
Thank you🤣
Yeah hoe is criminally unexplained tool.
So making a bunch of paths wouldn't cause lag though? Cause I've mostly kept my terraforming and stuff to my base
mmm i usually get lag from having too many tamed animals.
You didn't answer your title's question.
The story speaks for itself💁♂️
@@itstimebombofficial Are you playing on hardcore mode? Or permadeath? Because the game's not that hard.
Just an overall boring shallow game for someone that plays single player. It is pretty cool I like the concept but just wish they had more in the game and also wish they would change the order of some of the biomes.
Yeah the longer I play the more it seems like the difficulty wasn't on purpose
@@itstimebombofficial it seems some what difficult once you hit the swamp but after that the game is pretty easy after that so much so all the challenge is out the window. The hardest part of the game becomes collecting rocks to build something somewhat appealing.
Valheim was the best game to play with my partner
We're about to get back into it lol
Just. Not yet.
I just might start a little mini series of peoples worst valheim experienced and this could be the first one🤣
Sounds like a skill issue lol
This game is far more enjoyable if you arnt looking stuff up for it. Let yourself figure it out organically way more fun.
I've been trying my best to hide from all the spoilers of furniture and stuff until I naturally unlock it but it's been really hard😅
@@itstimebombofficial I just beat it with a buddy about a month ago. We just kept Valheim off of RUclips until we were done lol

i never knew people quit valheim because its hard lol, it is supposed to be hard (even tho it really isnt) so why you even start playing in the first place, its like starting terrarium mod on terraria or elden ring/sekiro and being mad because the game is hard and you need to learn a lot of stuff bruh.
the only thing i can imagine people quit is the lack of updates and variety, the game is insane but iron gate devs are one of the laziest i have seen in video games, we waited more than 2 years for mistlands update and now around year for the next, propably last will be north pole after next 1/2 years, its just too long, they should at least give players a lot of smaller patches with new stuff because doing new world everytime just to have "new" expierience (most new update stuff is only lategame) is just stupid af
Not everyone Is a natural videogame champion, no gatekeeping🫵
But I agree, we are way overdue for a new update

Oh and check out a band called ensiferium if you dig amon amarth. A good song to check out by them is called Iron.
Not to ignore everything else you said cause I agree, but I love ensiferum lol, burning leaves and in my sword I trust go crazy
@itstimebombofficial nah its all good man. You understand lol. It was just my two cents on what the OP said.
You funny 🎉
Great success🪅🥳🪅
Game is boring, its like minecraft but you have to beat bosses to progress your "tecnology" don't remenber the in-game name for it.
So. Much. Mist.
