A friend of mine wanted help installing a 18k BTU ductless heat pump unit in his garage that he purchased from Amazon. This unit is a Della Versa series, it's a 19 SEER2 that works with Alexa. This kit comes with everything you need to install other than a surge protector. Follow along as I install this unit, which is not a DIY install.

Clean work learned a lot, I like this video format doesn't spend 5 minutes of it talking about promotions but actually shows the work. Sponsors are obviously there but the process and work is the focus enjoyed watching
Ive seen videos of other people where they basically meat ride the sponsor, like ik you gotta talk about them but come on 😂
A nice job Zac, the most neat install i've seen completed in 8 min 30s 😉 Au
I have done a few off brand installs and I always make sure that the clients are aware that yes I can do the install no problem but no warranty at all. I didn’t order the unit from my dealer so no parts can be covered and I can’t get compensated for a warranty replacement. Most of the time I get the same answer like the units were cheap enough that if they had any issues they would just buy a whole new replacement unit. So I did the install just like any other job it turned out like this clean, neat and fairly easy. I have to say tho the unit that I installed was pretty much the same as like a Mitsubishi, or Fujitsu so I had complete confidence in that it was going to work and operate like it should but I am more concerned about the longevity and reliability of the unit. I still keep in contact with that client and he claims he had no issues with it so far and it’s been 4 years. I guess the point of this video was to show us installers that it doesn’t matter the brand it’s the process once you know what to do and learn how to do it, it generally applies for anything. Good job I always like your videos and I was a follower of you from the very beginning I believe we started the HVAC trade at the same time I forgot from your first video. Very cool to see. How do you get customers permission to record tho all your jobs? I have had so many jobs that would make a great video about but I couldn’t record anything I don’t know what to say or how to approach it?
I promise you that piece of garbage is nowhere near the quality of a Mitsubishi. None of the off brand garbage is. I’ve installed a few for customers and there is a reason they are a fraction of the price of the top brands and it’s because it’s a fraction of the quality. I don’t really like mini splits much to begin with anyway. It’s just a glorified window unit and they are a bitch to clean the blower wheels and coils. Ducted is the way to go period. You want an inverter? Spend the money on a ducted split heat pump or dual fuel depending on your climate. I live in heat pump land so it’s 99 percent heat pump here
Any input on MrCool diy units ?
I am electrician by trade . I do hvac controls so we often run control wiring to mini splits in electrical room and idf server rooms .
I have seen Mitsubishi, Daikan , Fujitsu , LG mostly .
I have read a lot of mini splits all are produced by a few different manufacturers.
I think plan to install Mr Cool ina ADU 500sq ft unit .
The reason being I can get it at Costco and DIY .
U always make everything look so easy bru😢😢😢 truly. Gifted🎉
Easy day’s work. I love doing 1:1 units like this, especially when the electrical panel is so close. Didn’t even need a disconnect since it was within 6 feet!!
I’ve had bad luck using the putty to seal the penetration - it shrinks, and then air/bees get in the house. Been using spray foam ever since.
Bought my first mini-split four years ago, took months to find any HVAC company to install it. Just had my second installed several months ago. I don't understand why HVAC professionals are so hesitant to install these units. After watching Zack, I hope you professionals are changing your views on these systems. I follow most of the HVAC YT channels and really appreciate the challenging work you do. Both my systems had a one-year warranty from the company but required professional install which my HVAC company installed both.
They're hesitant because they can't mark them up 10x the price.
probably cause parts are hard to come by no guarantee after install.
Cuánto se cobra por un trabajo así en USA?
@@machafmaybe for some. But for me, I’m charging my labor the same rather I buy the unit or you. That’s where we make our money.
Because homeowners are entitled.
I had a customer ask to put in a nest thermostat not too long ago. I said "sure, I don't know too much about the software or the app, but I can certainly install the the hardware for you."
After confirming the furnace was running correctly, they paid and I went on my way. The next day, they thought i did something to the furnace because "the fan was running too slow"
One of our managers went back to check my work, yep, all is good. We ended up giving their money back in the end. No idea why.
Now imagine you have a customer that wants you to put in an amazon minisplit...F*** no
Good luck with getting replacement parts and warranty
Nice job bro, alot of people cant afford anything with the word itsu in it these days, gotta keep that money rolling in,at least you did it all rite. I used to refuse these jobs about 5 years and more ago, times are changing, gotta do what you gotta do to stay in the game. I would never recommend any of these units though lol
What a great video. Even a surge protector. Nice editing also.
Clean video 🔥
Nice work sir.. Very clean..👍
Just curious how the inspections go up there. Awesome install
A true HVAC Professional. Can you list the tools, materials and parts needed to do the job successfully? Thanks.Love the landscape too
nuff said. perfect job.
Great Job Hoss
I’ll take my ducted system over these mini splits.. got 1 installed a year ago at our shop, it’s always turning on n off under 30*. Runs for less then a minute n shuts off for 3 minutes. Got a new Inverter heat pump installed at my house, last month, works great at 20* has defroster, only takes a minute to defrost, n it runs over an hour or more till it defrosts again, depending on humidity. No holes on my siding, or on my wall. Went through my crawl space with the lineset. Super clean, n I wanted it this way so I could replace my siding this year.
Sounds like the unit at the shop is just a crappy unit. Reputable mini splits, installed properly, are awesome
Sounds like either a blockage or they did not leak check before opening the valves. My mini I installed myself works great for my add on bedroom . Quiet too, and super efficient. I also put one in my buddies mobile home heats and cools most of his place and dropped his bill 100. He had two windows units before . It practically paid for itself in 7 months . Each setup calls for different units I guess . You could get some to check the charge.
I’m going to say either you bought a junk unit or it has no refrigerant left. Most units are capable of heating until -22 degrees. Mind you there will be efficiency derating after 10 degrees.
@@Thatplumberguy1995 it actually quit working, turns out the fan blades were hitting the shroud, they said because of it freezing up .. I think the unit wasn’t mounted right from the beginning,we called the guys that installed it , and they took care of everything under warranty.
@ I’m glad the issue was resolved.
Professional!!!
I have done two for someone who bought them on Ebay that shipped out of Mexico and didn’t even do Fahrenheit on the remote. A brand name I have never heard. I did one first and he liked it so much he bought another one and had me come back and install it too. They do nothing but blow cold air ever since.
I also did two heat pumps for another guy who bought them from Amazon. Same thing he tried one and liked it, had me do another. Solved his problem of the rooms he added on always being hot or cold in the wrong season. At least these did Fahrenheit. Same thing, a brand name i had never heard and no trouble since.
We just got it straight up front that I wasn’t warranting anything and maybe I could get parts later, maybe not. Both said they were cheap enough they would throw them away and buy more if they had trouble down the road. I was just a little worried if they had a problem out of the box but both agreed it would be their problem to send it back.
Edited for typo
As someone who would be happy with that arrangement and cant find anyone, Thank you. I ended up doing it myself. I just wanted someone who knew what they were doing to connect the lines torque them properly and check for leaks. I did it myself and it wasn't that hard but I would have happily paid half the cost of the unit just to double check my work.
The Chinese units are impressive when installed correctly, at least from a reliability perspective. Temperature control isn’t great, but you get what you pay for.
Was the brand “Aux” by any chance?
Respect.
Clean install.
beautiful work
Super pretty . Like Zack’s way . What brand is that pump ?
I’ve installed a lot of the cheaper mini splits. IMO they are just as good as name brand. I’ve had to repair more daikin mini splits than anything.
Nice job. Never heard of Della before. Are they made by one of the more familiar companies with just a different nameplate slapped on there?
parabéns, ótima instalação
As far as longevity of those units, how to they preform?
Of all the tools you listed... you didnt list that little table you have. Id like to pick one up as we all know there is no where to put your tools except on the customers equipment or the ground. Thats a pretty handy piece of kit.
Yes, I would also like to know where he got this table as well! This is slick!
I’ve seen those little tables at Home Depot. Dewalt makes them. His is more lite but the dewalt is heavy duty.
Amazon got it “DEWALT DWST11556 Express Folding Workbench”
@ I just ordered 2 from the depot! Thanks.
Desalt , love it .
Doesn’t CO2 put moisture in the lineset
We use Daiken and when installed properly, they’re awesome
Its nitrogen homie
@ the top looks like a co2 tank 👍
Muy buen trabajo
Where did u buy that line cover 4 inch
Are you gonna be at AHR In Orlando?
WHAT WAS THAT CUTTER TOOL FOR THE PLASTIC DUCT COVERS?
What a cool daddy Zac!!!
Something moved him when you uploaded this video that does not allow me to watch it with Spanish-language substituting. As always very well he worked as an entire HVAC master, clean, neat, constructive for all entrepreneurs and enthusiasts as well as for all technicians who can observe new things methods and applications always proving to be up to date in tools and applications to facilitate the work. Congratulations great friend, we are waiting for you in Mexico.
I am César jejeje 😂
😅 at the end of the video I see that it was only illustrative a big hug thank you for the contribution
Min lineset? Triple evac?
Smooth
wheres the audio description over the video
What's that long wrench he's using at 3:34?
God had a hvac baby when u were born😊
Under the dryer vent?
That's the water heater exhaust
Most units have a minimum 10ft line set
Hello and thumbs UP!!!!
5:39 dam I suck I cut the vacuum at 500 microns every install and have done so for 6 yrs now 😐
Great job and the cost for installation
Probably $1500-2500 if I had to guess, since he’s running a business.
@@fiehlsport That would be a total rip off for a 6-7 hour install...I bought a Goodman built by Daiken 12000 for $625 total . Paid a perfectionist pro to install for $725. I could of done labor myself with you-tube out there, but i am disabled and old.. It's not rocket science.
TOP
Did you cut the line set?
I’d say yes since part of the video he’s using an awesome flaring tool.
@ you are right
Put a couple Mr cools in .... wasn't a fan of the pre charges lines with that connection ....leaving lines long and tucked away is not appealing ....first and last time doing that brand
Man would like to work under your wing.
Looks like he did that before
Man of few words huh
I bet that vacuum cycle took 2.5 seconds.
Seriously. Down to 98 micron in 1 minute with that setup😂
did 1 for my grandma easy
Della?? Hmmmmmm
Bro really sprayed semen to test for bubbles
by a PRO!!
well i must be a pro because any fool who can follow instructions can install one of these things. it's not rocket science.
But why? Things slow or this a paid promotion. Either way it’s a shame
Im so interested in HVAC man. I'm already a qualified plumber but I'm thinking of going to school for HVAC since I'm recovering from a back injury anyway and have some time. Do you think 39 is too old to start in the trade?
If you owned a 900sqft home in Florida would you install you basic home ac unit or mini split? I hear the mini splits are way more efficient but my 14 year old payne still work great.
Ductless are good a particular area you want to condition not unless you getting multi zone ductless … I’d recommend a central air conditioner if you got a bath , kitchen, bedroom, closet , living area to be condition
