👏🏽 Reminds me of a young me in the field in more ways than one. Glad to see you sized plenum transition to the opening and not the whole cabinet 👍🏽🍻. Just subscribed 🫡
👍That’s the worst part of installs / retros! 😬 I always trim the top, 1/2 it to cut in a female of the old duct and make the new male duct portions fit into the top all the way around. My last front piece just stick in the top and push at the bottom to the flange on the unit for a tight fit. I REALLY hate the cramped spaces, sometimes I’m line no way can this be done!!! But there’s always a way! Oh and the itchy fiberglass! That’s the worse!
Thanks for your feedback, but metal is not ideal for residential, it comes with it pros and cons Biggest isssue with metal ; 1. expensive, 2. the climate , high humidity will have the ducts condensate
@@brian2coolful to start with if code doesn't require a flange around the top of the unit then I probably wouldn't worry about it either..lol.. but when I join duct board together I would cut a female shiplap on the existing duct board and a male shiplap on the new piece... also your corners should not be Butt jointed but also have a shiplap... with the air handler being on the interior I know it's not really a big deal.. but I'm in Florida and a lot of air handlers are in the garages and I can't begin to tell you the ones that sweat and leak air! Anyway it's good to see guys like you in the field... I've been in HVAC for 45 years fixing to retire and it's hard to find good replacement people! Keep doing what you do.. I didn't really mean to put you down! You certainly seem like you got a brain and you care.. that goes a long way! Stay safe and may your best days to be ahead of you!
You have the best video on how to make an offset.
Well explained !

Beautiful work, all you need now is repair the wall full of knife scratches. Thanks.
Thanks again ,the closet was repainted and the floor also redone
👌🏽 impressive work sir 👏🏽
Thanks much
Looks clean but I would use mesh tape on the inside before you use mastic so it really binds together
Thats was really fantastic brother
Appreciate it

Does thiz help to reduce sound transfer?
In some cases, but specific in South florida
why didnt you add a start collar
good video though man looks nice
Not a common practice here in south florida , much different here
@@brian2coolful its very common in central florida its required here too but nice video man
Insulation is good for the lug👎.u need to replace that 4 metal
Thanks for your feedback, but metal is not ideal for residential, it comes with it pros and cons
Biggest isssue with metal ; 1. expensive, 2. the climate , high humidity will have the ducts condensate
@@brian2coolful more expensive for the homeowners health?? use bubble insulation is s expensive but safe...and charge more money to your estimate
@dannymoreno03 trust me , if you come to south Florida you will see what i mean
Eso no es nada nosotros los hacemos desde cero con puro metal en cualquier lugar al instante
I know it is nothing , i made it from fiberglass board , make it easier , here in South florida
Thanks again

it took alot time thats it.
Your spelling is bad lol 😂

yess Lol
Do a video then! If not just sit back and watch!
No start collar no shiplap! Sorry, but that's wrong! You can't just make butt joints on duct board!
I've nevee failed an inspection here doing it that way
@@brian2coolful but you're failing AHRI and the manufacturer every time! Just because you pass inspection doesn't mean it's right!
What would have you done differently?

I have done both techniques. Wouldn't the mastic on the inside take care of the butt joint leaks?
