Good on you for speaking truth about what’s happening in Palestine and Lebanon. This really is the ultimate test of morality in our times, and a disappointing number of people and “creators” have fallen on the wrong side of it.
It's not that I don't care about civilians dying and suffering, but what impact do you hope for in - for example - the hosts of a football podcast speaking about the war... and why this war above any others. Sadly, there are 32 live conflicts happening in the world right now including those in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, Syria, Myanmar and Somalia. They are all hell for those caught in the fighting. I've spoken to my representative - it'll have next to no impact, but still more than a bloody football podcast. ~ Ed

Tangentially related to this ep, my favourite example of soft power at the minute is the hilarious corruption between the mayor of New York and the Turkish government, lol.
To be fair to the Saudis they've done a lot of good for people around the world that's never ever mentioned by people. They've pumped trillions into state of the art hospital equipment, and clinical trials for life altering drugs to help save peoples lives. Also why should any fan be bothered about who owns their club if it's being run in the right way? Manchester United had Saudi sponsorship for years, but nobody ever mentioned that.
We talked about the STL sponsorship on this very podcast. As for why you should care: It should be self evident that there are more important things in life than people kicking a ball around
Doesn't cancel out any of the terrible things the Saudi's are responsible for. Paying boatloads of money to make their country a hotbed of exclusive luxury healthcare isn't something to laud them for either.
