Truue. lol On a 110F summer day (Texas), this girl was wearing Bath and Body Works In The stars (not BR540, not Cloud, etc) and it was suffocating. I thought "She must be built different" because when it's that hot, almost every fragrance is too much. Then to wear a heavy Agarwood one like that... It was a lot.
I've never tried sol de janeiro but it's every where. I went to a run of the mill discount store not long ago and there was a candle that smelled just like it too. lol I wonder how Francis Kurkdjian feels about this wave of dupes. @@Strawbettys
My favorite is Carnal flower. With the understanding that it Has to be worn with caution a lot of people are very sensitive to it and I myself will get a terrible headache if I put it near my head. But I love it it’s like so addictive. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I had no choice but to buy it that’s the one I love. I’m gonna go back in time with you here Halston. Halston is atrocious. I live through a terrible time in our history, where it was very popular.

It is a mish mash of Light Blue and Flowerbomb, pretty obnoxious if you ask me. :D Yes Aromatics Elixir is obnoxious, and I don't care, because it is beautiful. I found an old sample vial of Joy in my stash. Never liked it, but kept it for archival reasons. I sampled it yesterday after years and years. Now I like it. I don't know what happened. Another obnoxious beauty is the vintage Magie Noire. I love this video, and remembering the old crazy ones.
Some of us love the rotting jasmine. I can’t resist it. Those white florals get me every time and they smell good on me as long as I don’t go crazy. When I go visit my mother, I have to leave my Fracas at home. Angel gives me a terrible headache. All I have to do is walk someone by someone wearing it.
I love Aromatics Elixir but I agree. It's really in your face! I might have put Bal à Versailles in there somewhere. Great list and I get your point about Joy.
I loved Halston in 1982. I have a vintage bottle now. It's not a wearable fragrance now, not because it's so old but because it's so strong. I'm convinced it was designed to overcome the cigarette smoke smell in every club in the 70s and 80s lol .
Most quality perfumes of today have the opposite problem, poor performance. I have huge vintage collection of worlds strongest and "divisive" fragrances. The trick with vintage fragrances is simply to be very gentle with your finger when spraying. 1-2 tiny spritz in the air and walk through or experiment with applying it to your pulse points, chest, arm or back of your leg. You have to approach those fragrances as undiluted Coke syrup.

I had a coworker who oversprayed Aromatics Elixir at the office. I could smell it from the parking lot! I love the fragrance, but it’s a ‘behind the knee’ perfume in public or you can offend the masses!😂
On a flight a few years back a father bought a bottle of CD Hypnotic Poison EDP presumably for the wife (who was not travelling with them) and allowed his 6 year old son to spray it all over. I hate flying but at that moment I was less worried about the actual plane and more concerned I was going to suffocate. Just thinking about it gives me anxiety on top of severe nausea.
And THAT is exactly how Hypnotic Poison Eau de Parfum smells… and if the kid sprayed more than half a spritz… it would have made the entire list of passengers on that plane aware of the smell… the more sprays and the more it would have lingered and stuck to clothes and plane walls and seats… it penetrates everything… that plane ride must have been hell…
Do you know Kenzo Jungle (L’Éléphant)? That one is beyond obnoxious, penetrates everything. One spray will last for a month!! And after spraying you have to be patient for at least two hours for it to dry down. This was one was one of my favorites back in the nineties. To this day the bottle as the formula have not changed and I still love this cute piece of art.
Hope you are doing better, Dacob! Love this topic. I actually liked the original formulation of Alien, but they have changed it, and I can no longer wear it. For me, the perfume I absolutely loath on me is Marc Jacobs Daisy. I couldn't wash it off fast enough 😂 Another, is Tom Ford Black Orchid, smells great on my friend, but suffocating on me... and I don't mind heavy perfumes, just not that one.
i kinda feel that alien and especially angel USED to be obnoxious before loreal took over and absolutely decimated the formulations. they're barely one tenth as strong and in your face as they used to be which some may appreciate but i personally as a 15+ year signature wearer of angel absolutely loathe. my friend told me they were wearing alien the other day and i was in absolute shock at how soapy, screechy and musky it is now, it's barely recognisable as alien much like the cheap knock offs smell. such a terrible shame. mugler used to be THE house to go to for out of this world unique perfumes with equally crazy flankers but sadly those days are well and truly over. great video! x

This video couldn’t have come at a better time! I’ve been watching your videos recently, and just the other day I was wondering when you would review Angel, Alien and what your thoughts are on them haha. I don’t care for Angel or alien but Alien essence absolue is perfect. I have and absolutely love HP EDP, albeit the 2023 formulation of it, without the ribbon. I enjoy it so much when I wear it. The longevity is amazing, and lasts on my hair and clothes until the next wash. but I do love the edt more and currently have a vintage (2006) on the way to me!
Geoffrey Bean Grey Flannel. OMG. I was curious and bought a bottle for little. OMG. It smells like a flower shop where the flowers are put in rotten water buckets and the shop is full of grannies wearing tons of talcum powder and cheap perfume. The smell hunts me. Thank You !! I guess my wife was experimenting with some new perfumes I had never encountered, I gently suggested It wasn’t the best choice and it was not doing her any favors. As you would expect my comment was not received well. We were both in stitches when you announced POISON which is what it was. Perhaps now she will have a bit more respect for my sense of smell judgement. All that said your repeated use of the word obnoxious was highly entertaining, you can kick the amusement up another notch by using a few more very appropriate adjectives like “Hideous” and “Atrocious”.

You are so right about the Angel and Alien! I have had the same experience with the "people" who wear it. I laughed at the Halston as I lived in it in the early 80s until I discovered Coco..I was a young obnoxious teenager then.. Coco changed my world 🙂
I thought I had great taste but I love the three you hate - Alien, Angel and Hypnotic Poison EDP! They all just seem to work perfectly on my skin. Loved the video though, it was fun to hear your opinions and made me laugh at myself. I hope I would be one of the lovely wearers of these scents and not the obnoxious kind!
Revisited the Hypnotic Poison EDP. I have to admit, it IS obnoxious. Beautifully obnoxious. It's intoxicating, and the the iconic Poison name would suggest no less. Just stick to 2 sprays only... unless you take evil pleasure in being obnoxious 😈
I know you love Jean Paul Gaultier but that perfume people bathe in it...and it is just so god damn obnoxious. It is another where dosing (small) is imperative. Totally agree with your list Dacob....and glad you are on the mend and so sorry you were in the hospital. x

I love Aromatics Elixir! But the key with this one is to wear it verrrrry lightly. No more than 2 sprays. Also love OG Hypnotic Poison EDP, but again, worn in small doses, love a good licorice note, which this one has. The bottle is beautiful. ♥️🖤

Thanks JJ 🥰 Aromatics is a masterpiece for sure. But younger generations have lost the capability of tasting and savoring bitter medicinal chypres. Its an acquired taste that takes time to get accustomed to and today the perfume world seems to, for the most part, revolve around instant gratification and quick volatile pleasures. I am hopeful however that a time will return when perfumery will once more enjoy the deeper more complex new releases. After all, even the Egyptian empire went through quite a few downfalls and rebirths… one more splendid than the other each time it was reborn.
😂🥰 Never wear Aromatics Elixir while cooking the Weight Loss Cabbage Soup….sure to wreck your sense of smell FOREVER!!! My husband made me promise NEVER to do that again! LOL!😅
100% want to see you buy a ton of random perfume samples and give your honest opinion. 😂 Speaking about influencers from the Les Exlusifs discontinued video... it seems that every influencer under the sun is afraid to say something remotely polarizing because of sponsors. Their inability to simply say "I don't like it" or "it's obnoxious to me" because they want that free fragrance they'll never wear is frustrating (to say the least); it's refreshing to see a video like this.

At least I can speak for myself: I don’t like to watch those channels that constantly try selling me some products that I feel like they would never use themselves but are just selling it to make money off the sponsorship. I completely agree about Joy I've never liked that one too. Poison hypnotic smells like Playdoh lol! The worst fragrance I have ever had the misfortune to smell has to be either Lou Lou by Cacharel, or Timeless by Avon which reminds me of the aroma of very stale urine! Oh I thought I was the only one! Knew a lovely girl back in the 80s that wore Lou Lou. Stale urine is all I could smell. Actually made me turn my head. I knew it could not smell like this to her. So I just held my breath and enjoyed her friendship! But wow did I hate that perfume

There is a staleness to it which is now gone in modern formulations. Lou Lou is these days a super pleasant powdery tuberose scent. I love it. Its actually a rare example in my opinion of a fragrance that actually benefited from a reformulation. 💙💙💙
Noooo! I love Angel! But I agree with you totally about Hypnotic Poison edp, to me it smells like burnt tires and melted plastic. Don't understand why anyone would like to put that stuff on! But the edt is amazing🙂

So agree with Alien and Angel (but Angel is for me a „good“ obnoxious, but I would never wear it.) The original „Poison“ was even worse, although I don‘t know the version you showed, but cannot immagine a worse smell - EVERYBODY was smelling of „Poison“ in the early 90ies (a bit like BR nowadays… - totally agree on that one aswell). I also hate „Libre“ - never tried it on myself because the people I know who wear it, overdose it and it gives me a headache immediately, just hate the smell of it! Giorgio Beverly Hills - I used to wear it in the 80ies and people could tell hours later, that I had been in the elevator 😅. Oh, I love Halston, but the old version, the new one doesn‘t smell at all like the original 😢… Thanks a lot for this topic, very funny 😄…
I adore Giorgio Beverly Hills 💛🤍💛🤍💛 Any version of Libre, any concentration and any flanker is just totally vile to my nose. I unfortunately tried a few versions of Libre on my skin. It was disgusting and I had to rub it off for hours. Vulgar putrid smell. And reminiscent coincidentally of Alien… lol…
I'm with you on the Halston. I have a love hate relationship with it. I used to love it in the 80's, when I was teen. But, now at age 57, I'm having a hard time with it. I have a vintage bottle from 1987, and a more current bottle, that I bought a few years ago. I can't deal with either of them now. So sad!!
I am glad they work for you. Hypnotic edp is quite different to the edt… if you do get a chance some day, try it out at the perfume counter and let us know how your experience was. 💖
On the topic of Sauvage/BR540, I think ambroxan/ambergris is the no.1 ingredient which can most easily tip into obnoxiousness when overdosed. I find it beautiful in Bleu de Chanel, totally unbearable in Sauvage and BR540. Even in Portrait of a Lady which I love, I find the ambroxan sometimes veers the composition into obnoxious territory.
I agree that ambroxan can be obnoxious and that it needs to be dosed carefully and sparingly if one wants to get the good results… I can work with sauvage of I spray it minimally and very far away from my nose. Haha
I love Angel.. I like Alien.. I own both .. I really love the Angel rich perfumed body cream. It’s around 100.00 but it wears like a perfume only better IMO❤

I love you ❤️ I was sad and very worried but I see you’re recovering ❤️🩹🙏🏻🥰 I used to wear Dior Poison and Alien in their original formulation. Then later to find they are way worse now than I can remember. Ratchet stank I can’t hardly stand it! Another obnoxious fragrance is Wind Song by Coty. My mother wore this as her signature scent and she was indeed a v%le and abusive throughout my childhood. I hated that perfume with a passion. I don’t have any good memories of her. So that does it. And I think Ciara also is obnoxious but it can be wearable for the right person. My step sister wore this and she wore it really well on her. She’s super sweet.
Ack! I am guilty of loving Halston! And my sister is guilty of loving Aromatics Elixer! Yeah, I really do like Halston! ❤ Giorgio is my one obnoxious perfume. But not in a bad way.
I love them both too. Those chypres are an acquired taste though. The time of the chypre has passed and it is hard for new noses today to just love them without getting to slowly know hem and to get their noses accustomed to them. I am in particular talking about late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s chypres.
I also had the Dior Hypnotic Poison EDP first edition, same as the one you show in the video. I tried my hardest to like it but no, it was obnoxious. I thought what’s the point in keeping it if I can’t even wear it so I sold it, and instead bought a 2014 batch of the Hypnotic Poison EDT with the money and never looked back!
Fun list! I have a Very Strong Dislike of Angel and Alien, don't know anyone who wears either. Love my JOY, own Rouge 540 Elixir but just don't like it - an expensive mistake!

1: Baccarat Rouge or to be precise its clones. For the last 2 years every other female colleague of mine was wearing some kind of iteration of BR540... Luckily, while I still smell it regularly, it seems to be somewhat on a downward curve. 2: Any modern male fragrance with a sweet woody amber dry down. 3 Mugler Angel. Very popular with my more mature female colleagues. Can smell very nice on some skins but can also smell like the the dirtiest patchouli paired with the dirtiest musk. Makes me nauseous.

For me its Black Orchid EDP, Dior’s Oud Ispahan, Sauvage EDT (this stays so long on clothes in the tropic), La Vie est Belle, and Black Opium. OMG i could just faint. But I do love BR540, which I only sprayed 2-3 sprays at max when I wore it, people around me loved it too. Though its been more than 2 years i havent worn BR540, and still have half of bottle.
Alien is one of my great loves lol I probably have 2200ml (dead serious lol)of it 😂 its giving banshee/siren vibes I passed joy to my mom almost immediately. 1000 is more my vibe. Angel is glorious lol I’m glad people don’t really wear it anymore. I have 1400ml of that one. Eau Sucree is the best version though. If you have not smelled definitely check it out. It smells like meringue. HP edp is an interesting one. I’ve stocked up on it but I’ve never smelled it on anyone or seen it in a store in the Midwest. It literally came and went and nobody but perfume people knew lol
I am happy they all work for you. You have a serious Alien and Angel collection at home. If a perfume works with one’s chemistry then all is perfect. One perfume can be magical on one person’s skin and really bad on another person’s skin. 💖💖💖
Most obnoxious fragrance i love are aventus(older batches of course) and profumum Roma Aqua E zucherro. Most Love/hate obnoxious are dior oud ispahan and followed by kerosene. Most hated obnoxious are Frederic Malle the night and any other funky fecal oud 😂
Plus hair is a major scent transporter and when sprayed on hair, perfume lasts even longer. Six sprays of HP edp on the hair huh? Wow… thats a major statement.

Always thought 80's edition Dior Poison smelled just like Spray Fly Killer - putrid pong. Had a coworker who well overdid the heavy handed spraying - a lot of taxi drivers complained about this one back in the day ....

I hadn't smelled Angel in maybe 20 years and picked a tester up and when I sprayed it, I thought that the bottle had gone off. It smelled rank and rotten and when it got the mid, I realized it was deliberate. "This little booger woke me up." 😆
hi dacob on a different note it has been mentioned on you tube that Chanel is bringing out a stand alone new mens frags in their mainstream men's collection, not even a BDC flanker have you heard anything yourself tbh I own nothing from the mainstream collection,just coromandel edp I loved original allure edt but unfortunately it seems with Chanel increasing prices with decreasing quality due reformulations and crap ingredients, allure pour homme edt was a fantastic autumn and winter banger but now it is just a pale watered down imitation of it's past glory your thoughts thanks
There has been talk about a new mens chanel fragrance for a few years now. They seem to keep postponing the release though… maybe because of the economy? Who knows… but, I think from their main mass released line Pour Monsieur edt is still wonderful as is Egoiste. Antaeus is a bit weaker these days but also still great in my opinion.
Ohhh for me the Top obnoxious that I love would be Montana Parfum de Peau and Bandit.... ahhhhhh Bandit... so, both Halston and Aromatics Elixir are quite 'behaved' for me, and love them as well ;) and the one I hate.... Alien.... it smells like Johnson's baby oil, the extrait version: nasty!
Ooh Montana, I had great associations with that one, a woman I admired in work years ago was the epitome of class. It was gorgeous back then but when I tried a few years ago it was way too animalic, red lipstick and shoulder pad dated

LOVE pretty much anything Patou came out with until Kerleo left the helm... Hypnotic edt is so nice and I have big memories with friends that rocked that one... Your two honorable mentions are FAB fragrances... but yeah I get it... For me the GOOD obnoxious would be the original Amouage ladies and gentleman's (now called Gold woman and Gold Man) ... WOW those are potent with HEAVY doses of civet... And I LOVE THEM.... obnoxious that I just.. CAN'T.... gaultier classique (female) and le male... NO NO NO... I actually LIKE the female version of you apply one drop in a wind tunnel... But even one full spray completely fills a cinema... Seriously. And I know LOADS of people LOVE Le Male... I can't think of a scent I dislike more.
many of the 80's perfumes are obnoxious. there is no other decade in perfume history is as loud and bombastic as the 80's. and the leaders of the pack are giorgio, jardins be bagatelle, diva, paris, ysatis, coco, paloma picasso, poison, obsession, fendi, beautiful, gucci no 3, bijan, and the list goes on and on.
I had the original Angel formulation and it was over the top when it came out, but prettier than it is now. It's so different now, no depth, no roundness. I just can't with BR540 at all or LVEB.
L’Oreal reformulated both Alien and Angel, or should I say butchered them. They’re now only the shadows of their former selves. But good for you, they’re no longer obnoxious though🤣
Nooo it's not terrible taste. ♥ We all have different olfactory senses! How Dacob registers fragrance might be entirely different to how you do! It's like people who love cilantro but others hate it (or some have genes that finds cilantro soapy). As long as you aren't over spraying and projecting your scent bubble to the entire room, you're fine to like what you do!

I have jean patou 1000 perfume the perfume version, the opening notes smells like rotten tree leaves but the dry down is magic.jean Patou perfumes are different overall.

I tried a sample of BR54O and it smelled horrible on me. It was like a odd mixture of bug spray and cat urine. I honestly don't get the hype.

I loved Halston in 1982. I have a vintage bottle now. It's not a wearable fragrance now, not because it's so old but because it's so strong. I'm convinced it was designed to overcome the cigarette smoke smell in every club in the 70s and 80s lol .
Oh yes, many perfumes from that time were built to co exist in a smoke environment.
Most quality perfumes of today have the opposite problem, poor performance. I have huge vintage collection of worlds strongest and "divisive" fragrances. The trick with vintage fragrances is simply to be very gentle with your finger when spraying. 1-2 tiny spritz in the air and walk through or experiment with applying it to your pulse points, chest, arm or back of your leg. You have to approach those fragrances as undiluted Coke syrup.

I had a coworker who oversprayed Aromatics Elixir at the office. I could smell it from the parking lot! I love the fragrance, but it’s a ‘behind the knee’ perfume in public or you can offend the masses!😂

We had a lady that would come to the salon in the height of summer literally swimming in it. The association just won’t leave now with Clinique
On a flight a few years back a father bought a bottle of CD Hypnotic Poison EDP presumably for the wife (who was not travelling with them) and allowed his 6 year old son to spray it all over. I hate flying but at that moment I was less worried about the actual plane and more concerned I was going to suffocate. Just thinking about it gives me anxiety on top of severe nausea.
And THAT is exactly how Hypnotic Poison Eau de Parfum smells… and if the kid sprayed more than half a spritz… it would have made the entire list of passengers on that plane aware of the smell… the more sprays and the more it would have lingered and stuck to clothes and plane walls and seats… it penetrates everything… that plane ride must have been hell…
Do you know Kenzo Jungle (L’Éléphant)? That one is beyond obnoxious, penetrates everything. One spray will last for a month!! And after spraying you have to be patient for at least two hours for it to dry down. This was one was one of my favorites back in the nineties. To this day the bottle as the formula have not changed and I still love this cute piece of art.

Love this topic. I actually liked the original formulation of Alien, but they have changed it, and I can no longer wear it. For me, the perfume I absolutely loath on me is Marc Jacobs Daisy. I couldn't wash it off fast enough 😂
Another, is Tom Ford Black Orchid, smells great on my friend, but suffocating on me... and I don't mind heavy perfumes, just not that one.

i kinda feel that alien and especially angel USED to be obnoxious before loreal took over and absolutely decimated the formulations. they're barely one tenth as strong and in your face as they used to be which some may appreciate but i personally as a 15+ year signature wearer of angel absolutely loathe. my friend told me they were wearing alien the other day and i was in absolute shock at how soapy, screechy and musky it is now, it's barely recognisable as alien much like the cheap knock offs smell. such a terrible shame. mugler used to be THE house to go to for out of this world unique perfumes with equally crazy flankers but sadly those days are well and truly over. great video! x

I have and absolutely love HP EDP, albeit the 2023 formulation of it, without the ribbon. I enjoy it so much when I wear it. The longevity is amazing, and lasts on my hair and clothes until the next wash. but I do love the edt more and currently have a vintage (2006) on the way to me!
Geoffrey Bean Grey Flannel. OMG. I was curious and bought a bottle for little. OMG. It smells like a flower shop where the flowers are put in rotten water buckets and the shop is full of grannies wearing tons of talcum powder and cheap perfume. The smell hunts me. Revisited the Hypnotic Poison EDP. I have to admit, it IS obnoxious. Beautifully obnoxious. It's intoxicating, and the the iconic Poison name would suggest no less. Just stick to 2 sprays only... unless you take evil pleasure in being obnoxious 😈
I know you love Jean Paul Gaultier but that perfume people bathe in it...and it is just so god damn obnoxious. It is another where dosing (small) is imperative. Totally agree with your list Dacob....and glad you are on the mend and so sorry you were in the hospital. x

I love Aromatics Elixir! But the key with this one is to wear it verrrrry lightly. No more than 2 sprays. Also love OG Hypnotic Poison EDP, but again, worn in small doses, love a good licorice note, which this one has. The bottle is beautiful. ♥️🖤

Thanks JJ 🥰 Aromatics is a masterpiece for sure. But younger generations have lost the capability of tasting and savoring bitter medicinal chypres. Its an acquired taste that takes time to get accustomed to and today the perfume world seems to, for the most part, revolve around instant gratification and quick volatile pleasures.
I am hopeful however that a time will return when perfumery will once more enjoy the deeper more complex new releases. After all, even the Egyptian empire went through quite a few downfalls and rebirths… one more splendid than the other each time it was reborn.

Speaking about influencers from the Les Exlusifs discontinued video... it seems that every influencer under the sun is afraid to say something remotely polarizing because of sponsors. Their inability to simply say "I don't like it" or "it's obnoxious to me" because they want that free fragrance they'll never wear is frustrating (to say the least); it's refreshing to see a video like this.

I completely agree about Joy I've never liked that one too. Poison hypnotic smells like Playdoh lol! The worst fragrance I have ever had the misfortune to smell has to be either Lou Lou by Cacharel, or Timeless by Avon which reminds me of the aroma of very stale urine! Oh I thought I was the only one! Knew a lovely girl back in the 80s that wore Lou Lou. Stale urine is all I could smell. Actually made me turn my head. I knew it could not smell like this to her. So I just held my breath and enjoyed her friendship! But wow did I hate that perfume

There is a staleness to it which is now gone in modern formulations. Lou Lou is these days a super pleasant powdery tuberose scent. I love it. Its actually a rare example in my opinion of a fragrance that actually benefited from a reformulation. 💙💙💙

So agree with Alien and Angel (but Angel is for me a „good“ obnoxious, but I would never wear it.) The original „Poison“ was even worse, although I don‘t know the version you showed, but cannot immagine a worse smell - EVERYBODY was smelling of „Poison“ in the early 90ies (a bit like BR nowadays… - totally agree on that one aswell). I also hate „Libre“ - never tried it on myself because the people I know who wear it, overdose it and it gives me a headache immediately, just hate the smell of it!
Giorgio Beverly Hills - I used to wear it in the 80ies and people could tell hours later, that I had been in the elevator 😅. Oh, I love Halston, but the old version, the new one doesn‘t smell at all like the original 😢…

Any version of Libre, any concentration and any flanker is just totally vile to my nose. I unfortunately tried a few versions of Libre on my skin. It was disgusting and I had to rub it off for hours. Vulgar putrid smell. And reminiscent coincidentally of Alien… lol…

I'm with you on the Halston. I have a love hate relationship with it. I used to love it in the 80's, when I was teen. But, now at age 57, I'm having a hard time with it. I have a vintage bottle from 1987, and a more current bottle, that I bought a few years ago. I can't deal with either of them now. So sad!!
I love Angel and Alien both. The hypnotic poison Eau de toilette is beautiful though. Never smelled the edp though.

On the topic of Sauvage/BR540, I think ambroxan/ambergris is the no.1 ingredient which can most easily tip into obnoxiousness when overdosed. I find it beautiful in Bleu de Chanel, totally unbearable in Sauvage and BR540. Even in Portrait of a Lady which I love, I find the ambroxan sometimes veers the composition into obnoxious territory.
I agree that ambroxan can be obnoxious and that it needs to be dosed carefully and sparingly if one wants to get the good results… I can work with sauvage of I spray it minimally and very far away from my nose. Haha
The most obnoxious perfume from the 80s is Paris by Yves Saint Laurent... Jeez i can still smell it 😢

I love you ❤️ I was sad and very worried but I see you’re recovering ❤️🩹🙏🏻🥰 I used to wear Dior Poison and Alien in their original formulation. Then later to find they are way worse now than I can remember. Ratchet stank I can’t hardly stand it! Another obnoxious fragrance is Wind Song by Coty. My mother wore this as her signature scent and she was indeed a v%le and abusive throughout my childhood. I hated that perfume with a passion. I don’t have any good memories of her. So that does it. And I think Ciara also is obnoxious but it can be wearable for the right person. My step sister wore this and she wore it really well on her. She’s super sweet.

I love them both too. Those chypres are an acquired taste though. The time of the chypre has passed and it is hard for new noses today to just love them without getting to slowly know hem and to get their noses accustomed to them. I am in particular talking about late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s chypres.
I also had the Dior Hypnotic Poison EDP first edition, same as the one you show in the video. I tried my hardest to like it but no, it was obnoxious. I thought what’s the point in keeping it if I can’t even wear it so I sold it, and instead bought a 2014 batch of the Hypnotic Poison EDT with the money and never looked back!
First HP edp is indeed a very strange formula… who knows what Demachy was thinking back the … sheesh… but I kept my bottle for archival purposes.

I can attest to the fact that I was pretty vile when I used alien 😂😂😂 on point.
1: Baccarat Rouge or to be precise its clones. For the last 2 years every other female colleague of mine was wearing some kind of iteration of BR540... Luckily, while I still smell it regularly, it seems to be somewhat on a downward curve.
2: Any modern male fragrance with a sweet woody amber dry down.
3 Mugler Angel. Very popular with my more mature female colleagues. Can smell very nice on some skins but can also smell like the the dirtiest patchouli paired with the dirtiest musk. Makes me nauseous.
What about the Mugler flankers? I hate Angel but love Angel nova. Hate Alien but like Alien Goddess

For me its Black Orchid EDP, Dior’s Oud Ispahan, Sauvage EDT (this stays so long on clothes in the tropic), La Vie est Belle, and Black Opium. OMG i could just faint. But I do love BR540, which I only sprayed 2-3 sprays at max when I wore it, people around me loved it too. Though its been more than 2 years i havent worn BR540, and still have half of bottle.
I actually like Angel just not on me lol Alien is vile though. Love Thierry Mugler though. Womanity and Mugler Cologne are fantastic.

HP edp is an interesting one. I’ve stocked up on it but I’ve never smelled it on anyone or seen it in a store in the Midwest. It literally came and went and nobody but perfume people knew lol

Most obnoxious fragrance i love are aventus(older batches of course) and profumum Roma Aqua E zucherro. Most Love/hate obnoxious are dior oud ispahan and followed by kerosene. Most hated obnoxious are Frederic Malle the night and any other funky fecal oud 😂

There has been talk about a new mens chanel fragrance for a few years now. They seem to keep postponing the release though… maybe because of the economy? Who knows… but, I think from their main mass released line Pour Monsieur edt is still wonderful as is Egoiste. Antaeus is a bit weaker these days but also still great in my opinion.

LOVE pretty much anything Patou came out with until Kerleo left the helm... Hypnotic edt is so nice and I have big memories with friends that rocked that one... Your two honorable mentions are FAB fragrances... but yeah I get it... For me the GOOD obnoxious would be the original Amouage ladies and gentleman's (now called Gold woman and Gold Man) ... many of the 80's perfumes are obnoxious. there is no other decade in perfume history is as loud and bombastic as the 80's. and the leaders of the pack are giorgio, jardins be bagatelle, diva, paris, ysatis, coco, paloma picasso, poison, obsession, fendi, beautiful, gucci no 3, bijan, and the list goes on and on.
Where does Axe body spray fall in this category? I would rather smell household cleaner than that stuff.

I had the original Angel formulation and it was over the top when it came out, but prettier than it is now. It's so different now, no depth, no roundness. I just can't with BR540 at all or LVEB.
So, the good one would be actually La vie est belle from Lancôme 😅 and the bad one : Absolutely every single perfum from Paco Rabanne !!!😂❤❤❤

L’Oreal reformulated both Alien and Angel, or should I say butchered them. They’re now only the shadows of their former selves. But good for you, they’re no longer obnoxious though🤣
Oh they are still obnoxious to me. Their being obnoxious to me was never about how strong they were. 😉

Nooo it's not terrible taste. ♥ We all have different olfactory senses! How Dacob registers fragrance might be entirely different to how you do! It's like people who love cilantro but others hate it (or some have genes that finds cilantro soapy). As long as you aren't over spraying and projecting your scent bubble to the entire room, you're fine to like what you do!

Youth Dew. Easily the worst fragrance to ever exist.
My mother would douse herself with youth dew and I would get so nauseous. I don't understand how anyone could enjoy that. Knowing is a much better chypre .

Its a big perfume. One needs to be strong enough to tame it.

I have jean patou 1000 perfume the perfume version, the opening notes smells like rotten tree leaves but the dry down is magic.jean Patou perfumes are different overall.
Patou perfumes were special. So sad they discontinued all of them.
