Hey Robert, found some old videos that helped me taking care of my newly bought '97 Volvo V70. Just wanted to say thank you very much for your continued work! It's very appreciated. Cheers from the UK

I recently inherited my parent's '96 850 wagon (non turbo), and it was throwing the P0305 code, running very rough. Car hadn't been driven in years, and so I started with the plugs. Took them out and found most of them at 0.045" gap! Slapped a new set of NGKs at 0.028" in there, runs like a new one.

Crazy! How it ran on those is unbelievable!

If can get double platinum or Iridium like new or new spark plugs and boots - spark plug wires and hopefully keeps the oil out. Better yet if isn't a valve cover gasket leaking. Blow out the air filter if is possible. It looked crusty. Fresh gas in the tank. Fuel injector cleaner on a tank of gas. I know money is tight. Hope can do the spark plugs and boots-plug wires.

This vehicle has coils so that is different. I have a rebuilt head for it going on when it warms up a little.

My 99 V70 R had a plug with a bad electrode, and it barely ran at all! So looking at this mess, I cannot believe that this thing ran at all!

looks like a timing belt broke and smashed them up ..then some one replaced it with a new belt ..a bore camera would be fun to see down them 5 holes.

timing damage is only to valves. piston cannot go higher than designed. loose electrode bounced from cylinder to cylinder through intake valves peening everything including s plugs. best to use only Volvo plugs in p80. or used to be, who knows what the chinee are making now for volvo.

They have had a lot of issues with Volvo plugs breaking in the past few years. I usually use Volvo plugs but those things are $20 each lately.

@@chriskeep9461 I've had good results with the Bosch plugs from FCPEuro on a couple Volvos. Less than $40 a set.

Hey Robert, For some reason my cooling fan is not turning on when I start my 02' S40, I let it get to 192F. Replaced both ECT and thermostat. But when I UNplug the ECT the fans run normal.
Any information or input is helpful.
    Thank you and God bless

It would not occur to me to give you advice on how to fix a P80. Especially a Family car.

Speaking of compression test, does anyone know how to rotate XC90 SI6 engine by hand? There's no crank bolt that I can see. Thanks

@@RobertDIY hey Robert! I don't know...there's a lot in the way (hoses, brackets, etc.) because it's transverse. To me, it looks like the bottom half of the engine just connects right into the transmission. Do you have to take off driver side tire, fender cover, etc to get to the crank bolt?

    • @scottpollard3270

      Engine is a B6324s.

    • @RobertDIY

the crank bolt is on the side of the engine where the belts are. That is the front of the engine. the transmission connects to the back of the engine.
