( my late mother’s car) And, yes, I’ve put a lot of work into it, spent a lot of money on it... with that said, Robert gives the BEST advice! I would watch and pay attention to his videos! He is very experienced and has been working on Volvo’s in access of 30 years!
I've owned alot of vehicles and have done all the work myself and all have lasted me over 300,000 miles. This is my first Volvo and I found a gem! But without your videos I wouldn't of been able to do even the normal tune ups or radio installation because there just isnt anything out there.........But thanks to you man, I've been able to do regular tune up and timing belt without any problems. I had a 740 GLE with over 400,000 miles on it. Ran like a top and almost never skipped a beat. Most cost effective car I have ever owned. The ODO avitar I use was from the 740.
Very good video, Robert. I have been a Volvo wagon owner/driver since 1982 and have done most or all maintenance on all of them. My current daily-driver work car is an 1987 245 DL with 416K miles in excellent operating condition. Just got a salvaged '98 V70 GLT with 183k miles for a customizing project so I could get hands on familiar with the B 5254T I-5 cyl engine (my first). The "service" manual that I bought was not very helpful so your video is exactly what I needed. Many thanks.

This video helped me a ton. Got the plugs on my 1999 S70. Only difference with mine is you gotta have a 10mm to take a single bolt off each spark plug boot cap.

Sorry to hear that. If the car does not HAVE to be your daily driver, I would recommend doing the head job yourself. It is NOT a difficult job, just time consuming. I did a head gasket on my daughters S70 GLT. It took me about 12 hours, 3 of which was cleaning the block surface and related parts. I have a detailed tutorial explaining the process. The cost to us was $850 from start to finish. If you can change brakes, you can do the head gasket.

I have that's first one i checked out .ive been trying to watch most of the video's.been really helpful only vehicle I've had that wasn't an American full size pick up was an 89 325 is BMW.so didn't know a whole lot about the volvos except I've always liked them sense i was a little kid and my aunt had like an early 80's volvo wagon like a 240 i think.she had it for long time other than my dad's 70's ford pickup that's my earliest car memory.finaly had the extra money to get one to kinda play with as my second car.so kinda long but thanks for all the info.keep up the good work,look forward to future content.ttyl
Yes I can but it will be a while. I've done both of my cars not long ago. Maybe someone will have me help them with theirs. There are a few good write-ups, like on Matthews Volvo Site and links on Volvo Forums. You need to do it sooner than later, you don't want to blow any seals out, especially the rear main seal.
I have discovered that the 98 V70 GLT has a blown head gasket and I slightly exacerbated the problem by not getting it checked soon enough, so the head got warped. As this was not a job (or expense) that I am ready to tackle just yet, I took it to my Volvo specialists (a dealer alternative) who are doing the work. The car checks out fine otherwise, so I think it is worth putting the money into it, although I had hoped that I would not have that kind of expense so soon after acquiring it.
As smart as I think? I do not design plugs nor do I sell them. I just know a lot of people claim to have problems with high dollar plugs. If they work great for you, go right ahead. No loss or gain to me.

Hey dear Robert, I have a '95 850 with nonturbo 2.0, with the same oil under that plasticplate, even on the top of the spark plugs. First, I was worried it is a very serious problem, but now I am not, it is probably the filler cap seal as you mentioned. Thx!
What year is your car? I would return them for what is recommended under the hood or in the owners manual. Save some money and likely some running issues.
yes use volvos sparkies...big diffrence no need for aftermarket... as these are gaped and made for turbo applications im having cold start vibration issues i believe these are the cause car current is at 95200 km thats which is around 60 000 miles never changed them....
okay i just went downstairs ....and started the car only to discover a bigger problem ...the engine light just came on... checked oil level and it was below minimum checked around and found the the hose going from camshaft driven vacuume pump to the booster came off with it alot of oil all over the place....that thing is so loose you can yank it out with two fingers.. man i felf so bad...and googled it on the internet and found out that it is a very very common problem for volvo 6 cylinder engines ,,,an O ring that goes out and cause all this mess with only 60 000 miles... i hate how manufactures are using plastic car components..

Hey Robert, I have an 01 V70xc and an oil change tech told me the #1 cylinder fuel injector is clogged. I bought 1 injector to replace it, but I don't know which cylinder is #1. In one of your videos, you mentioned that #1 is at the front of the engine, near the timing belt, on a longitudinally mounted 4 cylinder. Is #1 still nearest to the timing belt on a transversely mounted 5 cylinder? I watched your video on fuel injector replacement, too. Thanks for the videos and the help.

Hello Robert! Thank you for your work! I have a 1998 S70 with 147k miles and unknown mileage on the spark plugs. I took one off to inspect it and noticed a lot of rust on the OEM Volvo plug. Will anti-seize help to avoid this on new plugs? I was not able to find in the owners manual if it is recommended by Volvo to use anti-size. I remember that for example NGK recommends NOT to use any anti-seize on their plugs because they are already coated. Should I reduce the torque on spark plugs in case I am using the anti-seize? The torque specified by you is the same as in the owner's manual, but it is not clear if it accounts for anti-seize or not. Thank you.

I have never changed spark plugs before, but I have changed an engine ignition coil. Is there anything I need to worry about doing this job myself? +Eugenia Kozlowski If you have after market wires, there is a chance that they will be stuck to top of the plugs and fall apart when you pull hard. If that happens you may need new wires. I get plugs from Volvo parts suppliers. They should cost about $25.
Thanks for the help Robert. My fifth cylinder had a bit of oil inside when I changed the spark plug, it was dripping off the plug when I pulled it out. Also, the oil on my dipstick looks a little bubbly (more than it before.) My compression kit comes next week.... Do you think I should pull out all of the new plugs when my kit gets here? Or should I just pull out the fifth since it had the most oil? Or just drive it for a while. Luckily it started back up after the coil looked like it broke on the 4th cylinder. Thanks for chatting. It seems to be driving good as of now, but haven't hit 100 mph on the test drive yet. Also, can you point my to the video with the coil packs tune up explanation just to watch for fun. Thanks
This is exactly what I’m getting done, with my Volvo tune up kit... however, someone on fcp euro, (review) says to set the spark plugs gap at .026... your opinion ? I always go with what you suggest! I have a 1994 Volvo 850 turbo...Blessings to you Robert

Hello Robert, thank you once again for another great video! I decided to change the spark plug cables and when installing the new cables (bouci) I noticed that the “connectors”, in addition to being blue unlike the gray ones (volvo / bouci), do not go all the way in. I hear and feel the click when I press them down but they just do not go inside like the volvo. I already turned on the car and everything is ok but I thought it was weird and so I'm here to ask you for your opinion

I changed spark plugs out last night (Volvo 850). I found unusually large amount of white corrosion in 4th spark plug hole. Do you think water is getting in? And why only 4th plug hole and not the others?
Robert DIY I bought this car few weeks ago with 120K miles on it. Not sure if it is first time changing the plugs. I did find some white corrosion in my other 850 (180K miles on it, 1995) but not as much as this one. It had thick build up that I had to scrape off with a screw driver and big chunks of white corrosion fell out (which I had to use shop vac to get them out)
Robert, my spark plugs were changed about 32,000 miles ago. Do you advise changing them or if running ok, can I wait? Is there a chance of other problems occurring if I wait too long? Car, 1999 S70 Base was running rough & check engine light was on. I just changed one of the ignition coils, reset the light, & it seems to be running fine. What do you think? I followed your instructions in checking the fuel pump relay by jumping 15 & 87 but I didn't get much of a flow as did in your video. I changed my battery to a new one and checked and cleaned my spark plugs but still gets the same cranking....any ideas? please advise. Thank you and kind regards.
Hi RobertDIY, This video was very helpful to me as I attempted a service my very first car, and a very first servicing attempt on my Volvo V70. However, something went freakishly wrong and it turns out that on the 5th spark plug (old one that was in there before i tried changing it to a new one) - cracked by the person who had changed the spark plugs for the last owner of the car who had either tightened it too tight or it cracked over wear and tear. Anyways, it cracked on the ceramic piece and now that ceramic piece is in my engine. Do you have any suggestions on how i can retrieve this ceramic piece without risking the piece slipping down passed the piston and into the cylinder? Or is the piece something I need to worry about or do you think it will easily get crushed up and not become a serious issue later on? Thank you for your time. :)
+Kandyce Howell did it fall into the small spark plug hole out of sight? If so, it is already in the cylinder chamber. If not, try tape on a screwdriver or something. If it's in the cylinder, chances are that it will blow out through the exhaust valves. If it's big enough it will probably damage the cylinder, scratch the wall or something. You can try to shop vac it out.
Yes, it fell through the small hole and out of sight. I would say the piece was about 1/2 inch. It started in the spark plug seat and made it's way down through the hole. All of the help and suggestions I received outside of the internet convinced me to just start up the engine and hope for the best. So I did, after a friend hooked a very powerful vacuum up to it. I don't know if the piece got sucked out or if it got crushed up but things seem to be moving smoothly now. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Also, thanks for posting these videos!
Robert, my daughters 1998 volvo s70 turbo's spark plug 2 n 4 are reading misfire, we changed the spark plugs, all five and it keeps picking up these two plugs as misfiring.. the autozone store told us that we may need new spark plug wires, do you have any videos on how to do that easier.
I have a 94 850 Turbo with this metal line that looks rectangular that runs along the top of the engine under the plastic spark plug cover. Where does the vacuum line running from this metal loop go?
Dear Robert, In the owner's manual for my 1994 Volvo 850 it recommends cleaning the "terminals and rubber seals" when changing the spark plugs. I can't find any info online about this part of the process. Your guidance would be appreciated. Merci.
+sosylvie Terminals are the connections in the ends of the spark plug wires. Rubber seals are the tips of the rubber that slips over the plugs. Sometimes oil is on them from a bad PCV.
+Robert DIY Thanks for the reply. I thought that's what it meant but I didn't know how to clean them. I ended up just putting in the new plugs without cleaning. Is it too late to remove the plugs and do the cleaning (how to clean?), or are the plug ends already contaminated by any oil? Also, when you say "a bad PCV", I'm assuming that means the PCV is not a candidate for cleaning at this point(?). I'm going to go and review your PCV System Check video now. Merci.

Now the car misses and when I accelerate just driving along it acts like it wants to die.. could you please tell me what could have possibly caused this. It’s running awful now. Even when it was running superb! I purchase this car in August 2017. I’ve traveled back n forth from Tx to AL. Robert DIY Goid Evening. As stated I would get back with you on the codes. Well I only got one P1308 and I am just dying as to why this car would have an acceleration sensor problem now just from changing out the spark plugs. I also did some reading up on this code and though at autozone and O Reileys gave me the same code acceleration Sensor, I just don’t see why this would happen and the car ran just fine before changing the plugs. N from reading all these Things it seems it could also need a cable, a fuel connector, ecm problem and AC problem.. lol Go figure!! I guess I start with the acceleration Sensor n if that doesn’t fix it I will go to the fuel cable n so on. Lmk what you think or any suggestions.. Thank You!
What about the oil on the spark plug thread is there an oil seal for the spark plugs as I have engine oil on my spark plugs but my spark plug well is dry except on cylinder 5
De'Von Bouldin I have no idea what kind of car you have. If the car requires a 0.028 gap, yes check to verify that the gap is correct before you install them.
Hey Robert, I just pulled the spark plug cover on my 04 XC70 and there was pools of oil in there. I cleaned it all up with a rag. The plugs have individual coil packs and they had a manufacture date of 2010 so I figure they had been replaced with in the last few years. In other words.. no reason to mess with it. But where does the oil come from? I checked the PVC hose and it was snug and soft but I could pull it off from the engine so I tightened that up. The oil cap gasket was stiff so that isn't helping so maybe its just accumulated there over time. Is this common for all of these engines or is it leaking from the head bolts?
Have you had any experience with the new tri-Fire Volvo branded French made sparkplugs FCP is currently selling? I just ordered a set and the catalog says they are non turbo plugs, but I’ve never seen three element Volvo OEM plugs before. I’m waiting to get more information before I install them.
Robert DIY interesting. I pulled one of the plugs from my NA 850 the other day and they appear to be German made single prongs. Look kind of old, but dry and with no physical damage. I’m getting 16-19 mpg currently and I’m hoping replacing the existing old cap, rotor, wires and plugs will help improve this.

Hi Robert! I swapped out my spark plugs this weekend and the car ended up running like crap. I figured I damaged the spark plug wires in the process and swapped them out today as well. The car is running much more smoothly now, but there is a surge from the engine while accelerating. Is the spark plugs i put in bad or could it be something else?
@@RobertDIY hi Robert good morning, did my plugs and wires, and bought a new MAF sensor,not the most expensive,however my friend said to let it idle for at least 2 hrs. I've read 15 min. And disconnect battery for 10 min. Robert what is your take on this, I've let it idle 35 min. thus far. I still have high fumes from the tail pipe, trying to get my baby to pass smog. Hello , I hope All is well with the both of you. Petra said that you guys might be able to assist with this issue that I’m face with my 2001 Volvo V70 XC AWD 2.4L FI Turbo DOHC 5cyl. I recent purchased the vehicle and I love it!…I start to notice the engine started to run rough and hard. Much different from when I first purchased the car. Please note: that It;s cause by using regular gas instead of premium (New to the game), I do not know ( Main cause of Misfire) I received a check engine light earlier this week . (I stopped driving the car shortly after 20 mins) Connect scanner for code P0301 (Misfire) Replaced the spark plug to address issue I notices some motor oil on top of the motor. Due to bad oil cap gasket Motor oil leak into the spark plugs Clean and vacuum . After replacement of spark plugs , I tried to start the car. The car will crank but will not turn over / start. I tried jumping battery and received Immobilized message. Any lead in the right direction to resolve issues will be greatly appreciate Thanks again Moof

Very good video, Robert. I have been a Volvo wagon owner/driver since 1982 and have done most or all maintenance on all of them. My current daily-driver work car is an 1987 245 DL with 416K miles in excellent operating condition. Just got a salvaged '98 V70 GLT with 183k miles for a customizing project so I could get hands on familiar with the B 5254T I-5 cyl engine (my first). The "service" manual that I bought was not very helpful so your video is exactly what I needed. Many thanks.

This video helped me a ton. Got the plugs on my 1999 S70. Only difference with mine is you gotta have a 10mm to take a single bolt off each spark plug boot cap.

Sorry to hear that. If the car does not HAVE to be your daily driver, I would recommend doing the head job yourself. It is NOT a difficult job, just time consuming. I did a head gasket on my daughters S70 GLT. It took me about 12 hours, 3 of which was cleaning the block surface and related parts. I have a detailed tutorial explaining the process. The cost to us was $850 from start to finish. If you can change brakes, you can do the head gasket.

I have that's first one i checked out .ive been trying to watch most of the video's.been really helpful only vehicle I've had that wasn't an American full size pick up was an 89 325 is BMW.so didn't know a whole lot about the volvos except I've always liked them sense i was a little kid and my aunt had like an early 80's volvo wagon like a 240 i think.she had it for long time other than my dad's 70's ford pickup that's my earliest car memory.finaly had the extra money to get one to kinda play with as my second car.so kinda long but thanks for all the info.keep up the good work,look forward to future content.ttyl
Yes I can but it will be a while. I've done both of my cars not long ago. Maybe someone will have me help them with theirs. There are a few good write-ups, like on Matthews Volvo Site and links on Volvo Forums. You need to do it sooner than later, you don't want to blow any seals out, especially the rear main seal.
I have discovered that the 98 V70 GLT has a blown head gasket and I slightly exacerbated the problem by not getting it checked soon enough, so the head got warped. As this was not a job (or expense) that I am ready to tackle just yet, I took it to my Volvo specialists (a dealer alternative) who are doing the work. The car checks out fine otherwise, so I think it is worth putting the money into it, although I had hoped that I would not have that kind of expense so soon after acquiring it.

Hey dear Robert, I have a '95 850 with nonturbo 2.0, with the same oil under that plasticplate, even on the top of the spark plugs. First, I was worried it is a very serious problem, but now I am not, it is probably the filler cap seal as you mentioned. Thx!

What year is your car? I would return them for what is recommended under the hood or in the owners manual. Save some money and likely some running issues.

okay i just went downstairs ....and started the car only to discover a bigger problem ...the engine light just came on...
checked oil level and it was below minimum checked around and found the the hose going from camshaft driven vacuume pump to the booster came off with it alot of oil all over the place....that thing is so loose you can yank it out with two fingers..
man i felf so bad...and googled it on the internet and found out that it is a very very common problem for volvo 6 cylinder engines ,,,an O ring that goes out and cause all this mess with only 60 000 miles...
i hate how manufactures are using plastic car components..

Hey Robert, I have an 01 V70xc and an oil change tech told me the #1 cylinder fuel injector is clogged. I bought 1 injector to replace it, but I don't know which cylinder is #1. In one of your videos, you mentioned that #1 is at the front of the engine, near the timing belt, on a longitudinally mounted 4 cylinder. Is #1 still nearest to the timing belt on a transversely mounted 5 cylinder? I watched your video on fuel injector replacement, too. Thanks for the videos and the help.

I have a 1998 S70 with 147k miles and unknown mileage on the spark plugs. I took one off to inspect it and noticed a lot of rust on the OEM Volvo plug. Will anti-seize help to avoid this on new plugs? I was not able to find in the owners manual if it is recommended by Volvo to use anti-size. I remember that for example NGK recommends NOT to use any anti-seize on their plugs because they are already coated. Should I reduce the torque on spark plugs in case I am using the anti-seize? The torque specified by you is the same as in the owner's manual, but it is not clear if it accounts for anti-seize or not. Thank you.
you should NOT use anti-seize. If you do, torque as normal.

+Eugenia Kozlowski If you have after market wires, there is a chance that they will be stuck to top of the plugs and fall apart when you pull hard. If that happens you may need new wires. I get plugs from Volvo parts suppliers. They should cost about $25.

Thanks for the help Robert. My fifth cylinder had a bit of oil inside when I changed the spark plug, it was dripping off the plug when I pulled it out. Also, the oil on my dipstick looks a little bubbly (more than it before.) My compression kit comes next week.... Do you think I should pull out all of the new plugs when my kit gets here? Or should I just pull out the fifth since it had the most oil? Or just drive it for a while. Luckily it started back up after the coil looked like it broke on the 4th cylinder. Thanks for chatting. It seems to be driving good as of now, but haven't hit 100 mph on the test drive yet. Also, can you point my to the video with the coil packs tune up explanation just to watch for fun. Thanks

No the NA models do not use copper tip plugs. I believe they use triple platinum.

I decided to change the spark plug cables and when installing the new cables (bouci) I noticed that the “connectors”, in addition to being blue unlike the gray ones (volvo / bouci), do not go all the way in. I hear and feel the click when I press them down but they just do not go inside like the volvo.
I already turned on the car and everything is ok but I thought it was weird and so I'm here to ask you for your opinion

I changed spark plugs out last night (Volvo 850). I found unusually large amount of white corrosion in 4th spark plug hole. Do you think water is getting in? And why only 4th plug hole and not the others?

I bought this car few weeks ago with 120K miles on it. Not sure if it is first time changing the plugs. I did find some white corrosion in my other 850 (180K miles on it, 1995) but not as much as this one. It had thick build up that I had to scrape off with a screw driver and big chunks of white corrosion fell out (which I had to use shop vac to get them out)
My guess is that the top of the engine got wet, maybe someone washed it and water sat in there.
thanks, I will keep an eye on that cylinder just in case. I just brush off with small wire brush and vacuum up with shop vac.
Robert, my spark plugs were changed about 32,000 miles ago. Do you advise changing them or if running ok, can I wait? Is there a chance of other problems occurring if I wait too long? Car, 1999 S70 Base was running rough & check engine light was on. I just changed one of the ignition coils, reset the light, & it seems to be running fine. What do you think? Por lo general, el sangrado proceedure es el más alejado del cilindro maestro , a la más cercana . El coche tiene un sistema de triángulo . Dos ruedas delanteras y uno hacia atrás , luego dos weels delanteras y el otro atrás .
Por lo tanto, la bomba en el depósito y el gran refuerzo redonda han sido reemplazados ?

I have a problem with my 98 S70...it'll not start but cranks alright. I followed your instructions in checking the fuel pump relay by jumping 15 & 87 but I didn't get much of a flow as did in your video. I changed my battery to a new one and checked and cleaned my spark plugs but still gets the same cranking....any ideas? please advise. Thank you and kind regards.

This video was very helpful to me as I attempted a service my very first car, and a very first servicing attempt on my Volvo V70.
However, something went freakishly wrong and it turns out that on the 5th spark plug (old one that was in there before i tried changing it to a new one) - cracked by the person who had changed the spark plugs for the last owner of the car who had either tightened it too tight or it cracked over wear and tear.
Anyways, it cracked on the ceramic piece and now that ceramic piece is in my engine. Do you have any suggestions on how i can retrieve this ceramic piece without risking the piece slipping down passed the piston and into the cylinder? Or is the piece something I need to worry about or do you think it will easily get crushed up and not become a serious issue later on?

+Kandyce Howell did it fall into the small spark plug hole out of sight? If so, it is already in the cylinder chamber. If not, try tape on a screwdriver or something.
If it's in the cylinder, chances are that it will blow out through the exhaust valves. If it's big enough it will probably damage the cylinder, scratch the wall or something.
You can try to shop vac it out.
Yes, it fell through the small hole and out of sight. I would say the piece was about 1/2 inch.
It started in the spark plug seat and made it's way down through the hole. All of the help and suggestions I received outside of the internet convinced me to just start up the engine and hope for the best.
So I did, after a friend hooked a very powerful vacuum up to it. I don't know if the piece got sucked out or if it got crushed up but things seem to be moving smoothly now. Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. Also, thanks for posting these videos!

Robert, my daughters 1998 volvo s70 turbo's spark plug 2 n 4 are reading misfire, we changed the spark plugs, all five and it keeps picking up these two plugs as misfiring.. the autozone store told us that we may need new spark plug wires, do you have any videos on how to do that easier.

I have a 94 850 Turbo with this metal line that looks rectangular that runs along the top of the engine under the plastic spark plug cover. Where does the vacuum line running from this metal loop go?
I believe it's part of the PCV system. You can probably bypass it if you are in a warm climate. Volvo deleted it in '95.
Dear Robert, In the owner's manual for my 1994 Volvo 850 it recommends cleaning the "terminals and rubber seals" when changing the spark plugs. I can't find any info online about this part of the process. Your guidance would be appreciated. Merci.
+sosylvie Terminals are the connections in the ends of the spark plug wires. Rubber seals are the tips of the rubber that slips over the plugs. Sometimes oil is on them from a bad PCV.

Now the car misses and when I accelerate just driving along it acts like it wants to die.. could you please tell me what could have possibly caused this. It’s running awful now. Even when it was running superb! I purchase this car in August 2017. I’ve traveled back n forth from Tx to AL. Robert DIY Goid Evening. As stated I would get back with you on the codes. Well I only got one P1308 and I am just dying as to why this car would have an acceleration sensor problem now just from changing out the spark plugs. I also did some reading up on this code and though at autozone and O Reileys gave me the same code acceleration Sensor, I just don’t see why this would happen and the car ran just fine before changing the plugs. N from reading all these Things it seems it could also need a cable, a fuel connector, ecm problem and AC problem.. lol Go figure!! I guess I start with the acceleration Sensor n if that doesn’t fix it I will go to the fuel cable n so on. Lmk what you think or any suggestions.. Thank You!
What about the oil on the spark plug thread is there an oil seal for the spark plugs as I have engine oil on my spark plugs but my spark plug well is dry except on cylinder 5

The treads are treated but not with the type of anti-seize we use.

De'Von Bouldin I have no idea what kind of car you have. If the car requires a 0.028 gap, yes check to verify that the gap is correct before you install them.
Hey Robert, I just pulled the spark plug cover on my 04 XC70 and there was pools of oil in there. I cleaned it all up with a rag. The plugs have individual coil packs and they had a manufacture date of 2010 so I figure they had been replaced with in the last few years. In other words.. no reason to mess with it.
But where does the oil come from? I checked the PVC hose and it was snug and soft but I could pull it off from the engine so I tightened that up. The oil cap gasket was stiff so that isn't helping so maybe its just accumulated there over time. Is this common for all of these engines or is it leaking from the head bolts?

Have you had any experience with the new tri-Fire Volvo branded French made sparkplugs FCP is currently selling? I just ordered a set and the catalog says they are non turbo plugs, but I’ve never seen three element Volvo OEM plugs before. I’m waiting to get more information before I install them.

Robert DIY interesting. I pulled one of the plugs from my NA 850 the other day and they appear to be German made single prongs. Look kind of old, but dry and with no physical damage. I’m getting 16-19 mpg currently and I’m hoping replacing the existing old cap, rotor, wires and plugs will help improve this.
So they already had the wrong plugs.
Robert DIY yeah seems that way. And it looks like they’ve been in there for awhile. It will be interesting to see what difference the new and correct plugs will make on performance. Thanks for your feedback.
Is there is a special spark plug for some model or all of them the same thing ??
For example I have S70 2.4L non turbo ( B5244S )
What spark plugs sholud I use ??

I swapped out my spark plugs this weekend and the car ended up running like crap. I figured I damaged the spark plug wires in the process and swapped them out today as well. The car is running much more smoothly now, but there is a surge from the engine while accelerating. Is the spark plugs i put in bad or could it be something else?
I have no idea I don't even know what kind of car you have.

Robert should I put just a drop onf antiseize on the NGK plugs NGK says dry but what is your opinion? thanks good grief times have changed🤔
The plugs have a coating on them. Don't over tighten them and if you pull them later, add anti-seize then.
@@RobertDIY hi Robert good morning, did my plugs and wires, and bought a new MAF sensor,not the most expensive,however my friend said to let it idle for at least 2 hrs. I've read 15 min. And disconnect battery for 10 min. Robert what is your take on this, I've let it idle 35 min. thus far. I still have high fumes from the tail pipe, trying to get my baby to pass smog. Thank you I know I always message you in the middle of my task, I know huh, but this has got me so flustrated, I'm about at my wit's end.😟

I hope All is well with the both of you. Petra said that you guys might be able to assist with this issue that I’m face with my 2001 Volvo V70 XC AWD 2.4L FI Turbo DOHC 5cyl. I recent purchased the vehicle and I love it!…I start to notice the engine started to run rough and hard. Much different from when I first purchased the car.
Please note: that It;s cause by using regular gas instead of premium (New to the game), I do not know ( Main cause of Misfire)
I received a check engine light earlier this week . (I stopped driving the car shortly after 20 mins)
Connect scanner for code P0301 (Misfire)
Replaced the spark plug to address issue
I notices some motor oil on top of the motor. Due to bad oil cap gasket
Motor oil leak into the spark plugs
Clean and vacuum .
After replacement of spark plugs , I tried to start the car.
The car will crank but will not turn over / start.
I tried jumping battery and received Immobilized message.
Any lead in the right direction to resolve issues will be greatly appreciate

Usually you can close all the doors etc, lock and unlock the door with the key and start the car.
