For ordinary copper crush washers, you can revive them by heating them up to red heat and quenching them in water. This makes the copper soft again and they provide a good seal.
Hi Jyrki. Definitely a job worth doing especially if you have a clean engine bay and want to keep it that way. I can highly recommend the Febi hose for this job as it is OE matching and only a fraction of the price. Took me a bit of time to find the right part as my car is Right hand drive. Thanks for your comment as usual
Hi! Good job, amazing! Thank you very much! Your videos are very helpfull to me! I have to restore all my 740i! I have to replace all the 4 hoses of the power steering, are the parts identical from m62 e38 and m62tub? Cause i have the m62 pre restyling e38 98, thank you!!
Hi I am not sure if they are the same. Possibly not, my car is Right hand drive if yours is Left hand drive will be different. Check www.realoem.com to see part numbers
I'm having the same problem with what appears to be leaking hoses. However, because fluid was pooling on the top of the hoses where they slip on to the reservoir, it made me think the problem might be the original clamps are no longer holding tight enough. So i removed them and replaced them with normal clamps that can be tightened with a screwdriver. So after doing that and cleaning them really well so I could easily detect any new leaks, they are still doing the same thing. So now I'm thinking it might be the reservoir. How else would the fluid be getting on TOP of the end of the hose? Is it REALLY the hoses that are bad, are the clamps still too loose, or is it the reservoir?
Hi I had the same issues az yourself. Tried all that including putting 2 clamps. Believe me buddy and let me save you some time and effort. The issue is the hoses. They still feel soft but are not soft enough after 24 years. Just replace the hoses and the problem will be fixed🤝🏻
@TheKeenMechanic Alright, man. I'm going to trust you. I was all ready to send the new hoses back and try a new reservoir but I'll take your word for it. Thanks!!
Hi I actually showed the exact part and part number that I used on my car. I used Febi as they are OE matching and come with 3 years of warranty. My car is Right hand drive do the part number for your car will be different if it is Left hand drive

@@ggmtv1394 Nice tip to know. Much appreciated buddy🤝🏻
Awesome! I’m doing the exact same on my 01 i in the coming days so glad to see it was very straightforward
Easy job. Let"s hope the other one holds up and doesn't make a mess soon 😁
Thanks for the video, should do the same before the summer, when the beast('95) gets out of garage😉

@@davidbenji1 You are welcome. The reservoir has a filter in it. Just rinse it with brake cleaner and install the new hoses. Best of luck🤝🏻
@@TheKeenMechanic Cool. Thanks!
Can anyone tell me how to jack up my e38? Can you put jack stands under neath the jack points at each corner of the car?
Use a jack on the jack points, raise the car and put jack stands under front subframe🤝
Did you use BMW parts or OEM REINZ? Thanks.

It should work as they are similar🤝🏻
