One of the worst coaching jobs I have ever seen this loss was the biggest turning point of the Eagles season. In the end , this game is what knocked them out of the playoffs. They would have been knocked out early regardless if they made it.
The epitome of Richie Kotite during his tenure in Philadelphia This game cost the Eagles a playoff berth. The defense was number one across the board. Yet, Kotite was incompetent vs. a winless Tampa team.
FootballOutsiders' DVOA statistic rates the '91 Eagles defense as the greatest they've graded (which goes back to 1983, I believe). Definitely one of the greatest defenses of all-time. But also one of the most inept offenses of all-time.
@@jamiejohnson4524 Since the Bucs and Eagles play each other this weekend, would you be willing to post it now ? Perfect time to do so. It is a largely forgotten game. Also, I MAY (MAY!!!) also have the 1988 Bucs/Eagles game. I will have to check.
@@jamiejohnson4524 Two words: Norman Braman. If Buddy Ryan were there in 1991, I think the Eagles would have been able to forge through to the playoffs.
@@rustyshackleford1114 I'm also a Bucs fan and I agree. That was quite a comeback. Unfortunately, the man who took me to this game had to leave before the comeback happened.
@@rustyshackleford1114 no way. We would have got pummeled by Washington that year even if we made the playoffs. That team was a juggernaut with great coaching in Joe Gibbs
@@jamiejohnson4524 Plus, it was against a very bad Bucs team and poorly ran franchise that had a cheap owner. The '91 Bucs were one of the worst Bucs teams that ever took the field, but the '86 team was the worst of the Bucs squad because they allowed more points than the '76 squad and it was awfully coached.
@@jamiejohnson4524 yes they were mainly due to double digit losing seasons in 13 out of 14 of those seasons. The '86 and '91 teams were the worst out of the group.

Imagine if Bud Carson wasn't the Eagles D coach. They'd be horrible.
This loss cost the eagles playoffs that year I remember this like it was yesterday
How bad must a concussion have been to miss a game for it in 1991!?!
Unreal how the Eagles lost this game. The Bucs won a game that they should have never won.
BTW, I'm a Bucs fan and even I can tell you that the Bucs had no business winning this game.

Vinny never stepped up and lead. I think he was intimidated by Chandler.
Definitely one of the most bogus Bucs wins ever. Gotta be in the top 5. (Of course Matt Bryant beating the Eagles in 2006 is #1.)
Buccaneers won their first game of the season. Eagles lost their second straight game.
