Moon was good but not awesome. He wasn't a championship calibre QB. That first series when his knee touched the ground was indicative how Moon responds. He should have hurried up to the line and had the ball snapped before a timeout could have been called for a review. He just lollygagged up to the line and waited.

This is classic Oilers. Their M.O. Outplayed Washington, but couldn't do the little things. Like make clutch FG's. Or run for key first downs. I remember distinctly flipping between this game and the 49ers/Falcons game that ended with Michael Haynes catching the Hail Mary that basically kept the 49ers out of the playoffs. Two low scoring, but intense games. Used to be that was okay. Now you hardly ever see them anymore.
The Oilers did NOT outplay the Redskins. The Redskins rushed 35 times for 154 yards (4.4 avg) while the Oilers rushed 16 times for only 25 yards (1.5 avg) Not even close! The Redskins also dominated time of possession and 3rd down conversations. The only reason Washington didn't blow the Oilers out was because of self destructive turnovers.
What about Rob? It looks like you’re pointing to your own name. Houston always choked. Never got passed the second round with the most talented team in football. Even their punter was the league leader that year. I loved that team but they always let you down. Capers, Kubiak and O’Brian are still letting us down. The last game the Texans played was a franchise worst blowout rout loss to Kansas City.
I was today years old when I found out that Ian Howfield got cut by 856 teams prior to kicking for the Oilers. After 33 years I finally got my explanation for this game. smh
I think almost any NFL fan in those days knew that: 1. Howfield would miss that field goal and 2. Moon would probably throw an interception in OT. Whenever there was a big play to be made, whether it was a score or a first down on offense, a big stop on defense, or a big kick, those Oilers teams never got it done. They had no clutch gene at all.
@@jamesroberts1810 I agree but, he's suppose to finish adleast one or two those games himself, with or without the defense holding leads. And Oilers did have Huge leads....too.
The Texans name is just so...bland and the uniforms are as well, but ultimately the blame is, of course, the ownership of the Titans. For example, back in 2018, the Texans threw that idea out there of using the uniforms as a throwback and the Titans organization said, "That's a hard no." At least the Browns got to use their name again after the Ravens were formed.
