I remember watching this game in Texas with the family on Christmas Day 1993. I was 13. I remember my grandmother yelling in delight with the Givins touchdown at 43:00. I haven’t seen this in 28 years but that 1993 Oilers regular season was magical (despite the bumbling 1-4 start). The Buddy Ryan/Kevin Gilbride circus that would occur a week after this game really sapped the team’s momentum and the Oilers would go on to lose a playoff game at home to the KC Chiefs under Joe Montana. The Oilers were never competitive again in Houston, so these were truly the last days of an era, though we didn’t know it then.
RIP Dick Enberg, 49ers: Bobb McKitrick Offensive Line Coach, Bill McPherson. Oilers: Owner Bud Adams, Head Coach Jack Pardee, and Defensive Coordinator Buddy Ryan and OL- Jeff Alm.
Chris Dishman (#28) very underrated CB who OWNED Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin in the early 1990's!!! 1993 8th Round Draft Pick...Blaine Bishop had a coming out party!!! Oilers had arguably the most talented and deep Secondary in football... LUV YA BLUE!!!
Just watched an old Christmas video from when I was 12 and this game was on as I passed out gifts to all the family members. Didn’t really care then… but cool to find it on here and give it a watch to fill in some childhood memories.
Wow. Thank you for posting this. My father took me to this game. I was 6 years old. Nose bleed seats and I always thought it was a dream when I remembered it. But this makes it real.
Players were smaller on average but look so much bigger - because they actually wore shoulder pads and had non-fitted jerseys! I actually believe this made the game more physical and were better tacklers because players felt protected better and used their shoulders to lay hits! I am a fan of the modern game especially since I’ve been a Patriots’ fan since the mid 80’s. I’m very nostalgic though and love me some run and shoot! Great channel!!!
NBC that year experimented with a NBA-NFL-NBA tripleheader on Christmas. Suns/Rockets at 3ET, this game at 5:30ET and Bulls/Magic at 9ET. Only time I can recall seeing that.
I was there that day, sitting way up in the nosebleed seats. Ended up getting 10 tickets for friends and people who did not have anything to do on Xmas day. Weird start time on the west coast at 2:30 p.m. Loved wearing my Oiler jersey and getting crap from 49er fans all day until the final score.
@@ironbeatyfly Yeah must be hard to find. I live in the Bay Area as a Oiler fan so I remember this one was televised for me as a kid one of my 1st Oiler memories - Steve Young got concussed I believe had to leave game but Houston still lost in a low scoring game. Haven't ever seen this game pop up just vaguely remember it when it was on tv in the 90s.
The Tennessee Titans at The San Francisco 49ers, And the Titans choked to the Chiefs that year, niners lost to cowgirls in NFC Championship, Everybody Thought, DALLAS, VS HOUSTON SUPERBOWL, AND OILERS WIT BUDDYS D, COULD OF BEAT DALLAS, NO DOUBT, BUT THEY RAN INTO THE CHIEFS, AND JOE MONTANA, MARCUS ALLEN HAD THE GAME OF HIS LIFE AT 36yrs old, damn, Marcusis in his sixties today
@@chuckp376 In what world Houston wouldn't have beaten Dallas in Super Bowl 28 think cause troy Aikman Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin on Dallas plus Buddy Ryan as defensive coordinator verses Jimmy Johnson would also be a storyline

Oilers defense did the job that game.
This was the 15th game for both teams. The NFL experimented with an 18-week season in 1993 (16 games with two bye weeks for each team.)
@jaboo82681 no they shouldn't
Good ol days Man Oilers was my team back in da day!!!
I have a new channel to watch. I loved the Oilers, even tho I am from and live in Missouri. Go Oilers!!
This Oilers team was way too talented and well coached to not win a single playoff game.
They should of gone to the Superbowl that year.
nba-nfl-nba on christmas
Rockets vs Suns then Oilers vs 49ers and finally Magic vs Bulls .
As a kid I thought it was one of the most awesome Christmas days ever. It was a dream.
I remember watching this game. I wasn't a fan of either team. But nothing to do on tha Christmas day.
OJ with the 'killer commentary' -- and wearing a very famous pair of gloves, to boot
For anybody wondering, OJ didn’t stab anyone that day.
OJ on the commentary 😂😂😂
7:05 just wait and see what happens next week
OJs final days as NFL on NBC OJ
Shame he became a murderer.
Do you have the 1996 Wk 9 Oilers - Niners game?
I sure don't but would love to have a copy of it bro
