I cannot believe you left Texas Speed with an EMPTY truck bed! DUDE!
i would bet that his wallet was a bit emptier thoooo....
Yeah he should have bought more flowers for wifey😂
20 grand on a stripper? That is more shekels than she was a virgin.
There’s this really cool new company called UPS that brings things right to your house when you buy them 1000 miles away. It’s a really awesome idea, because you don’t have to worry about your parts getting stolen from a hotel parking lot. I think this shipping idea might really take off.
I heard that John Dutton started the company and that’s why the trucks are brown with yellow lettering. So cool.
lol
After your tour of TSP, I got to thinking about how much of their MASSIVE expansion over the last four or five years is a direct result of them rolling the dice with a corvette cart drivin’ 6’6” giraffe from Florida, and going stupid fast with a re-sleeved 427…..
and they absolutely abused that frickin motor.
Imagine the Affliction T-shirt collection the faux hawk dude with the worst case of Imaginary Lat Syndrome of all time is rocking? Enough to make Richard Rawlings cream his wife's jeans!
you deleted it, but I bet you laughed first
He's from Nebraska but is for sure a Florida man. Reppin' the 402.
I just wanna thank Finnegan for putting out such positivity. Sometimes we need it more than we realize.
Mike one thing to appreciate about the obs is the ball chiller. Gm really thought about us men.
Could double as a kitty kooler
I still work in the printing industry. Couple of notes.
1. Ink gets everywhere and does require a lot of effort to stay clean.
2. It's very noisy.
3. That KBA press is massive and probably able to print 100's of thousands a copy and hour.
Very cool
I spent a lot of years in printing as well and I loved the tour!
I studied and worked in print for a good few years just before it really died off. There is nothing like a press running properly and there is nothing like problem solving mid run when it's not 😂 Awesome to see the old presses again. UK here so it was always Heidelburg for litho that we worked with. If I remember correctly the newspaper rolls were 13 miles long each! Still blows my mind to this day. I miss working hands on with print, I moved over to the design side as things became more digital but still get excited when I get to send to print these days.
I worked in printing for 30 years, not in the press room but in prepress. Everything from 4 color process to book work. Layout from film to digital. Printing isn’t dead yet but it certainly is a shell of it’s former self 😢
RR Donnelley veteran here....JC Penney catalogs amongst other things.
@@mwall787 Warsaw plant? I was there in the mid 90s
The best thing about Base model trucks. It gives you a lot more room to work with for your budget.
And for this truck to be this clean, It saved you a lot of time in the project.
One of the best episodes in a while. It's great of you to meet with fans and hanging out.
crazy building,i used to ink huge ribbon for computer printers. i used to have 55 gallon drums of ink.
This one hit close to home Mike. I work at one if the last operating press facilities in Southern California. Hard to see what was clearly a great facility left for dead. That was state of the art when it was closed.
Great episode!
LA Times plant that closed a couple weeks ago?
Never gets old watching a GMT 400 Build!
What is a GMT? Generic Made Truck? Ghosted Many Times?

57:48...Joe minus a flat bill hat adds 20 plus years. Bad grandpa Joe
Not gonna lie, felt bad for him seeing that! haha, dudes just trying to stay young!
I had a 97' Chevy 1500 Work Truck with a reg cab, 8ft bed and the 4.3L. Great truck. After driving it for 10+ years in the Northeast, with an open diff and 2wd, I can drive just about anything in the snow. It was so much fun to drift in the rain/snow. Even with the 4.3, all I had to do was give it a little gas and cut the wheel. Good grab Finnegan!
my 2002 is the same way. ironically this truck has more options than my truck does
They were my favorite truck to be honest, of all time!
There's alot of people that just love these obs any new content on em is a must watch
Ive got twin 95 rcsb step sides. 1 V8 5 speed 2wd, 1 V8 auto 4x4. And a 94 with the 6.5 detroit. These trucks are finally gaining some more popularity. Simple to work on, limited emissions crap. Decent trucks.
That truck is Bulletproof the way it sits
I think that Busch Series V6 you got from Freiburger would be pretty sweet in this truck!
That would be rowdy!
That would be awesome in that truck!
Solid episode. You had me at the Big Trouble in Little China reference.
i wondered if anyone was gonna get that one. lol
Yep, got it.
How did i miss that.. thats one of my favorite movies 😂😂😂
My older brother was a LITHOGRAPHIC PRINTER for his entire career. He worked on four color presses and would bring home proof sheets sometimes. I hauled and delivered giant rolls of paper to different places. 5 or 6 rolls would be around 45,000 lbs.
Not gonna lie when you guys were leaving the hotel and Joe didn't have his hat or glasses on I was like oh he must be a fan a ride. Then he talked and realized it was him. 😅
Looks like a corporate manager 😂
😢😢
Never seen that side of you with your fans Mike, you are definitely legit my man! Much respect
That truck is more than beautiful enough to win as it sits
Joe looks extremely different with no hat and clean shaven. Didn't recognize him at first
@ 56:50 I was wondering who was in the truck with Mike. lol
@@nvrenuf_k5933same lol.
Love that no matter how popular you get that you still go out of your way to stop in for fans. That’s why you guys have stayed so popular
I still enjoy playing with the 4.3.
That truck looks amazing as is! What a time capsule.
Time capsule, agreed.
RAD... such an iconic movie from my childhood. Such a relatable episode.
I dont think I have seen a 90s truck this clean. I cannot believe you found it in this condition. A blast from the past. I also grew up in the 90s and loved the mini truck/NOPI stuff but at the same time I see the value in keeping it stock. Still it has to look good for SEMA.
There are more of them, I just sold one 😢
Rad is one of the best movies ever and I have passed the tradition onto my 15 yr old son. When I first seen the truck I was thinking u were going to build something crazy out of the aluminum 4.3 you have. If I remember correctly u got back from Friburger
That old Austin American statesman build is awesome. I spent plenty of time working on copiers in those buildings. On the truck, that's not a work truck. It's an SL. It was most likely custom ordered the way it is.
Exactly. Doesn't have work truck badges, as it's not one
you can see it as soon as fans show up you are one of the nicest people in the internet world. thanks for all you do
Seriously, this would have to be 1 of my favourite episodes of yours Finn. Just so much fun watching all of those fans with you and Joe. So cool 😎
Beautiful truck! Almost a museum piece truly. Can't wait for the build.
😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Would be awesome to see that facility running at full capacity back in the day. What an operation
You're so awesome to your fans and I hope I get to meet you one day.... I'll bring you some sick ass cassette tapes if you do this again in Florida...... Thanks for being a great guy and sticking with us here on RUclips. A lot of us guys and gals appreciate it Mike ✌️
I just love that Mike is a fellow mini trucker, though he must be a little younger if his Toyota was a ‘94. I bought a new ‘85 Nissan for $5995 when I was 16. No power steering, no a/c, no cruise, no power windows or locks, vinyl interior, no radio, no mirror on passenger door, and no rear bumper.
Finish the damn Caddy!!
Word.
The dude is in a boot. That shit is not easy to get around with.
Sooo... Is it easier to do a whole new project from scratch?
Y'all both sound like someone who has never built anything or never been injured. The guy is trying to avoid surgery. 8:38
@@brandongreene3213does a bear sh💩 in the woods ⁉️
Oh man, my first truck was a 1994 Chevy W/T Regular cab long bed, in that exact some color. Loved that thing...some serious nostalgia here! I didn't know you could still find one so clean...treat it well!
I'm 15, and my grandpa left me that exact model truck with the 350 and Manual in it, I can't wait to drive!
Seeing how you interact with your fans, You are the man Mike
You could have a badass go cart track in that warehouse space!! Time trials racing against yourself, fastest time wins... Like Isle Of Man.😎
What makes me sad is I know the handsome stock look of this incredibly clean truck will be destroyed.
Stock sucks. These trucks are hideous stock. They are decent trucks for what they are but handsome they are not. They aren't even in the top 5 of best looking trucks built.
@@damianlindsey6177 They are hansome trucks and I'm looking forward to the build.
Wrong channel fellas!
Lmao
This man cut up a beautiful 60s Caddy. You think a stock OBS truck is safe?
Gotta love that Texas weather.
What an awesome road trip. Thank you both for sharing it with us. Be blessed brother
26 years ago, I had a similar truck in Highschool, except it was a '94 (slightly different interior). That was probably the same/only time I would have ever bought anything called Bling Sauce. Glad they are supporting you.
"Never heard of Triumph...." broke my heart. Failure of America's education system.
If this road trip introduces them to Triumph it will be a double win. Great tunes and such a clean truck
An hour on any social media site would prove that. Half of Americans can't spell, use punctuation, or construct a sentence. Forget reading comprehension, since nobody online reads anymore.
Be careful with that ankle, my wife broke her right one in 99 very similar to yours and had to have plate and hardware and then about a year later had to have that removed because the screws were backing out and just broke it again in the same place last August so far the hardware is holding. I hope you can avoid surgery and heal properly and quickly. Good luck Mike
im in this video!!! it was so awesome meeting you man i had a blast at the meet up in Texas!! it was nice to know meeting you was exactly the same as you see in videos. your down to earth and just enjoy everyone's projects and dreams as much as your own, that is awesome!!
Hell ya! pumped for this build i got a 1988 short bed reg cab Bagged on 20"s
love these trucks!
These obs trucks are just so good looking
Just randomly found a white long bed 4.3 obs on FB for $3,700 OBO pretty clean and only 102K miles. If i needed a truck id be all over that.
Awesome to see two of my favorite worlds colliding! Super cool to see Ricky was able to be around for this
It was so much fun!!!
the warehouse tour was awesome! Thanks for including that. Super clean truck! Will be a cool build. I'll buy the datsun so you can have some gas money.
Hey babe, wake up. Mike just posted 👊🏼💙
I don't think your imaginary "babe" can hear you in the comment section.
Why is this type of comment getting popular? It's dumb AF
I say keep the v6 because it is rare, low mileage, and unique because basically everyone else has v8’s. Lower it and build the factory engine. Maybe a tt kit or supercharger?
100%
Correct pattern for a small GMC truck should be V6, turbo, and AWD...
Exactly, cuz that was the Syclone block
Brings back memories flipping through the pages of Truckin…tweed interiors, billet and shaved everything. Roll pans and caddy taillights. Sweet score Finn 🤘🏼
Glad to see you're mobile Mike! Texas doesn't do anything small, but from what I saw of the rain you probably figured that out. Great video, glad you're enjoying your "down time". Get better as quick as you can.
You put 15000 miles on it , doing burn outs 👍👍😂😂😂😂
1000 hp with a v6 and a crescent wrench I can't wait hahaha
This is the secret project he was talking about building an LS for I'm pretty sure.
L35 is the engine rpo for it, not a whole lot of aftermarket for the 262/4.3/Vortec 4300
I mean, you can swap a V8 in these with a crescent wrench lol
@@shadowopsairman1583it’s a 350 with 2 less cylinders. I built one just cause no one ever does. I made 600hp with a turbo on low boost. Plenty of aftermarket with all things considered
This is a great video! It’s bittersweet seeing the old printing plant. But knowing it is going to be used for great things is awesome.
This truck is in such great shape, what a great find.
I've got a 1990 c1500 shortbed, 5.7L, auto, with 130,000mi. Two tone gold and dark red. I bought it to replace my K1500 which was totaled last year when I got hit on the highway by a woman who fell asleep at the wheel. It was a 5spd. I want to save the steering column, pedals, and maybe the instrument cluster and convert the new truck to 5spd. The transmissions are different, so I will have to find an NV3500 or 4500. So far I've lowered the rear 2'', but staggered the tires with larger rears. Bilstein shocks, new water pump and distributor.
I love these trucks Finn, the old one, that I named Darlene, saved my life in that wreck and I have so many good memories with the truck. I named the new one Nadene. I also doubled down and bought another 1990 k1500 5spd. The last of the Scottsdales. Black and silver two-tone. I plan to restore it and keep it as stock as possible.
I hope you enjoy your truck Finn, looks like you got a really good one. Excited to see what you do with it.
Thanks for the videos,
-Andrew from Louisville.
Have y’all seen the Motion Raceworks OBS? Wicked fast!
Yep, GM crate 632, Vice Grip tested!
Dare I say, thank goodness Cody didn't get this? 😅
Also, I had a blue and gold two-tone extended cab shortbox 350 vortec auto 98 myself. Had 165k km on it when I got it, had 285k on it when a student driver cut me off and wrote it off :( best truck I ever owned. Famous 1 wheel peel lol mine had full power blue interior and the same 15" wheels, though it was the chevy cat eye front end.
Love the plan of stock interior, decent suspension, tons of power and w/t vibe!
Mike just flew on airplane during this Boeing debacle but his terrified about riding on an elevator on a golf cart. Lol
It’s actually still more dangerous to drive than it is to fly on a plane. According to analytics.
@@alexcorona Well analytics are controlled by politicians and CEOs of these airline companies that are too job scared and greedy to provide actual accurate analytic information. So you can go on being naive about that and believe everything that you read and that you hear.
Flying suppost be safer then drivin think cause u got less idiots in air doin long high altitude flights
@@dwarfzerker8456 yeah well when your planes nose diving down at the ground at 500 mi an hour you're going to be thinking that you should have just drove instead.
Joe needs his beard back and hat. When he got in the truck with the blue plaid shirt on I thought he was your dad. (I have no idea what your dad looks like, but Joe looked like he could have been)
@Finnegan628 you’re funny
Mike, your truck is equipped with the optional gauge package. It was a $57.00 dollar option I paid for in 1991.
Love the Handbuilt show and Revival!
Get that caddy finished up for sema!!!!

OBS is the most over used term in the toxic truck community. 2020 = ObS
Amazing. I’m excited to learn more about these trucks .
Damn Fin!!! This episode was super cool. Thank you! 👊🏻
Cool find! Can’t find them like that anymore. Looking forward to the build.
27:13 .... hey Mike I worked on a printing press just like this. That is a plate. Ask your buddy if he found any press blankets. They are heavy duty rubber and covered the print rollers. I have one and use it under the car during oil changes. They are awesome and come clean easy. It has been used under my leaky cars since 97.
That was me at 1:01:50 - very nice to finally get to meet you Mike! Excited to see what you do with the truck.
The samples of bling sauce arrived today!! Thanks man🙏 no charge at all 😎
I'm jealous; my 2000 Jimmy has the HO 4.3 V6 and I'm only getting 14~16 MPG. On the other hand, it's making 30+ HP over that engine. It's a peppy little truck.
My dad got 30mpg on his chevy regular cab long bed 4.3 5 speed
Great show. Keep em coming.
Every time I hear someone mention Operation Ivy, it takes me back to high school shenanigans and hangin out with my best friend Darby… RIP man.
Thanks for the smile, Mike!
wow that is a clean GMT400, would love a 454 just like it. Just lost my 1997 with 198k miles. She worked as a crane truck the last 15 years of her life. Refreshing the engine and getting a new frame. Only reason she's done now.
Can't beat these trucks, especially with the 454 in em, more reliable than any truck you can buy today. IMO, towed many of friends with mine and shes never left me stranded in the 20 years of owning it.
The invention of the inkjet printer was the first of many major blows to the printing press and newspaper/advertising industries! Millions of jobs lost and millions of dollars worth of once technologically advanced and highly expensive and crazy mechanically advanced machines, just setting up and collecting dust and rotting away in time, all completely operational and made up of thousands of highly precise and advanced parts and pieces! I worked at one of the last operational printing presses in central Alabama back in 2012, NTA Graphics, and I will never forget how much I learned and how much the whole process blew my mind, how much is involved in just printing a single sales ad for one single company, let alone a whole collection of inserts/sales ads from multiple companies, every week, how much pressure was on The operators and editors to get every single color and every single border correct, it was a real high stress environment. It was a good thing I only got paid to stack papers on pallets and prepare for shipping 😅😂
BadAsserey! That sums up this whole episode! Loved it! 😃 👊🏼
You know you've made it when your camera car is a Ferrari!😂 That truck is ridiculous! What a time capsule! When I first saw that you were gonna mod it, I thought "Nooo!" But then you said V-6, and, yeah, now I get it. Damn good bones to start a new project! Looking forward to seeing the end project. It was sad to see a once-great industry just basically fail, though. Good episode, y'all! Have fun, y'all!✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Nice find. I'm jealous of that truck. Id drive it as is use it daily. That bench seat just made my day with the memories of my old truck.
Great video, awesome facility tours,a road trip and great future videos coming I’m sure 😀🇺🇸🇺🇸
I loved my 98 Sierra. It was the service vehicle for the Harley dealership I worked at. 3/4 ton 454. Such a good truck.
@Finnegangarage012 oh yeah.. ?
I have a 94 gmc stepside that had a 4.3 in it. It now has a built 1st gen 350 4 bolt with a carb. 5 speed. Bucket seats. Would love that bench for mine I have 2 kids that fight over who want to ride in it.
I loved this show!!! The newspaper shop was so interesting. Knowledge is power and the speed shop was informative.
lol
Thanks for the "Revival" tour cuz that building is gonna be an Austin landmark...just WOW
I love this project idea. In high school, I bought a clean 93 Chevy long bed standard cab work truck with a 4.3L and 160k highway miles for $500. My dad and I bought a 350 with a detonated piston and rebuilt it with a cam, flat top pistons, double roller chain, etc. He used to rebuild engines for a living and still had machine shop access. The electronics and EGR were a little tricky because the 350 was out of a 91, but we made it work. Didn’t have the budget for high end speed parts, but we cut out the junk catalytic converter and put in dual exhaust with a flowmaster 40 series. Definitely made some nice noise. Pulled out the old worn bench and put in a nicer set of Dodge Ram seats we got from a junk yard, after a little fabrication with the mounting hardware. Threw in some new carpet, looked like a whole new truck inside. Probably only had a couple thousand bucks into the truck (not including our labor), but it was a fun project with my dad and I ended up with a pretty cool truck for a kid in high school. Can’t wait to see what you do with this one! Thanks for all the cool projects you share with us!
this is awesome, i love gmt400 trucks, i got a 96 suburban and i love it! i want the whole world to know how good they are haha!!
That color is Indigo Blue Metallic, I saw that truck sell on cars & bids in December 2023, and it had steel wheels on it, so the guy that bought it must have swapped out the steel wheels for the ones that are now on it. Cool truck, I can't wait to see it completed.
dude, you are so gracious with how you handle people. I look forward to the day I can meet you, but maybe we'll have some beers so it be a bit more... authentic! Love ya, man!
Hang in there Steve! Better days to come!
Rad and Gleaming the Cube cant beat them movies!!!!!
@Finnegan031 your truck burnt taco hooked me and sparked my love for mini trucks! Prize? I have never had anyone acknowledge a comment i left.

That is a really sweet truck! I like the fact you're leaving the interior stock. Should be a real interesting build!
What I like about it is the glass headlights and not those yellow plastic ones I keep the work truck Grill just put some Halo headlights in it
