Looks like Darkglass succeeded with this pedal. Low/no noise and transparent, with a little bit of tone shaping at more extreme settings of compression, attack, and release. But like with the other Darkglass products, I'm more inspired to look at the less expensive competition. (The EQD Warden imo does all of the above except for compression monitoring, and without the need for a blend knob.)
I own one and love it, but has always wondered if it's a analog or digital compressor. It doesn't say anywhere so I've just assumed it's analog, but considering that Darkglass does a lot of digital pedals I'm not so sure. Do you guys know? EDIT: I've since found out that it's analog.
@@300productions7 I've opened mine up since I wrote that comment, and it doesn't have any converters in it, so it's definitely analog. It only has a couple of analog IC's, but no digital ones (according to my research on the IC datasheets). You also have to remember that this pedal was released way back before Darkglass released their first hybrid or completely digital pedals. It's a great comp either way! Sounds way more smooth, dark, crunchy and vintage than my Cali76 Bass Compact. The Cali is snappier and brighter though, so I use them both interchangeably depending on what tone I want and what bass I'm playing.

I was leaning towards the MXR M87 or Seymour Duncan Studio Bass. Do you guys have a favorite(s) among what you've reviewed? Maybe I need a new compressor too?!
Hey I'm trying to get a new amp for my bass and I was wondering if I should get a fender rumble 100, I have a cheap starter bass. It's very difficult to get a clean tone, also my birthday is April 7th , hopefully I get an acoustic bass
Replace the starter bass with about a $500 bass and hear the difference! Definitely try as many as you can and get a feel for what you like in person. You’ll get a much better sound upgrading to the next level as opposed to sticking with a starter bass. I stuck with a Fender Squier for a bit before getting a Mexican Jazz Bass and it’s a night and day difference. Hope this helps!
hey guys have you seen the new ibanez nutube screamer...is there a way you could get it to try on bass...what is interesting is, it has some blend 'clean to overdriven' control, it might sound really good on bass emulating tube grit

Pretty sure it’s digital, they just released one that is a hybrid that is half analog and half digital

The Studio Bass remains one of our favorites but this would be a great addition as well!
