Perfect video Ian massive river, massive water , gales , no fish, dour ghillie , treat yourself to an extra pinch of salt on ya porridge later , your a bloody hero mate
Donald is a good ghillie and he does chat James . He asked me not to have him in any of the shots for long and didn't want to be seen talking. I like salty porridge and possibly overdose on it already . Can't beat firm arteries to help with casting in the wind Tight Lines Cheers Iain 🥃
Yer top beat in the afternoon is one of the most scenic anywhere, looking up the Tronach to Birnham Hill beyond. Had some success in the Well just opposite the top hut. Happy memories.
Highland Perthshire is a stunning place Charles. The tay system has been hard on anglers this year with levels more up than down. I to have some great memories at Murthly and hopefully;y we can add to them in the future Cheers Iain. 🥃
just another day off casting practise Daniel a day out fishing in these conditions lets my muscles know that they are connected to me and they infect pain in the morning after heaving and straining Cheers Iain. 🥃
Nice clip Ian but traditional wind and cold got the better of the day. At least it wasn't raining!! Perseverance is the name of the gain. Hope a fish comes soon😊
I was out a few days ago Christopher and it rained like Noah was waiting downstream . It has taken a few days for my gear to dry out . it's already to go again and I have brushed the rust of my joints and wiped my reel seats Cheers Iain.
A glass of wine with my dinner James and a 10 year old malt to sip for a while before climbing into a warm bed got to lie there for a while before falling asleep contemplating the next trip Cheers Iain. 🥃
It's hard work Paddy but the fun when meeting anglers and the chance of catching a fish is a big part of a day at the river and when we do connect the excitement takes over . I have all of this to look forward to this season roll on the trips !!!!!! cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Chris I have enjoyed a couple of your excellent videos and hope to catch up with others soon Hopefully we will meet on the river bank in the not so distant future tight lines. Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi Iain, as beautiful as the Tay is that wind didn’t do you any favours at all mate , looked hard work there but you didn’t connect with anything which was a bit strange but that wind kept them well down and not biting anything. Thanks for sharing Iain fingers crossed for next time. Cheers 🍷Steve.
Hi again Steve I hope you are both well. the Tay is such a big river and there are so many places that a fish could be . the fish that were heading upstream could quite easily have been 30 yards further out and I would have not covered a fish and they may have headed upstream under my nose while my fly was swinging around.. I think that I need more practise 😉. Cheers Iain. 🥃
I put in the hours and about 4 grand last year every place i went was dead and this year isnt looking much better sadly if the government does nothing thats the fishing finished
There is a lot of enjoyment goes with fishing , sometimes seeing a fish is encouraging, so far this year it has been a lot of fishing and very little else Cheers Iain 🥃
the government have made it clear I n the past ........salmon fishing is only there for the rich....... salmon farming is there so that politicians can afford to be rich Cheers Iain. 🥃
@IainSB very sad isnt it iain the people in power are truely clueless too many animal groups like rspb only care about on kind of animal and not about the whole eco system look at those clowns with there bring back beavers look at the damage thats done the goverment let all these lot do what they want but not us 😔
@IainSB ive only been out once for the salmon iain ive been at the lake fishing for trout and pike 😅 hopefully youl get one soon for your efforts i enjoy your videos 🤝
I find that if I have to dive home for an hour or more it's the last 10 minutes that the blood circulates and the bones start to heat up . park the car and then lift cold wading boots and wet waders and all the damp things that are in the back of the car then as you say climb into the shower ........ Bliss that's enough to get me back planning fishing again. Cheers Iain. 🥃
There is nothing certain in our world of fishing Toby .. sometimes fishing can be better. the optimist in our hobby know that despite the conditions there is always a chance so we prepare for our next trip. Cheers Iain 🥃
I was so cold after sitting in the boat Steve, I found that once I wormed up There Was a chance of a fish and kept at it ... as for golf enlarges I am lost , but think that I caught your drift I am looking forward to catching up and hopefully record one of your many catches Cheers Iain 🥃
I had some numb bits after sitting in the boat in the morning it is heading to warmer times and I hope that the salmon will return to our river in decent numbers Cheers Iain 🥃
Donald wasn't wanting to be seen talking on the video and I had to resect his wishes . he is very photogenic and has appeared in other trips to Murthly but this time he said that he only wanted a short part in the Final Cut Cheers Iain. 🥃
I was out a few days ago James and I took my trout rod with me. It was the first time that I had taken it from my man cave . the walk from the car to the river was a drain and I had been up and down a few times . There was a hatch of flies like I haven't seen on the Tay for a long time and good trout rising but the thought of climbing heart attach hill again was enough to have me watching them instead of casting at them. Cheers Iain. 🥃
There have been some good catches compared too last year Mo and the size of salmon seem to be a lot larger that the previous 5 years here's hopping that this year is one to remember Cheers Iain. 🥃
The weather looks great in the recordings but as you know standing out in Speyside in March is usually bitter and this year was a bit cooler . the water temp from snow melt left my feet numb .......... But looking forward to going again next year. Catch up for a pint soon Cheers Iain. 🥃

There was a bit of March winds Tommy we have to make the most of our days at the river , sometimes it can be a bit of a fight Cheers Iain 🥃
Fair play to you Iain.... tough fishing... bet you had a wee dram after that day! 😉👍 Cheers James 🥃
A glass of wine with my dinner James and a 10 year old malt to sip for a while before climbing into a warm bed

Fair play Ian I have to admire you. It'll come right soon.

Great video Iain, I have yet to connect with a fish either. But we won't catch anything sat at home. All the best. Chris

The best bit of a cold day fishing, is standing in the hot shower for 20 minutes when you get home. Bliss.
I find that if I have to dive home for an hour or more it's the last 10 minutes that the blood circulates and the bones start to heat up . park the car and then lift cold wading boots and wet waders and all the damp things that are in the back of the car

Think you are definitely due a fish now after fighting against that wind.
There is nothing certain in our world of fishing Toby .. sometimes fishing can be better. the optimist in our hobby know that despite the conditions there is always a chance so we prepare for our next trip. Cheers Iain 🥃
@@IainSB indeed. I enjoy every day out in beautiful scenery in good company fish are a bonus. Tight lines for next week.
Jeeso. Downstream gale. Hate it, back to the hut. In golfing parlance, a three club wind. See you in May......
I was so cold after sitting in the boat Steve, I found that once I wormed up There Was a chance of a fish and kept at it ... as for golf enlarges I am lost , but think that I caught your drift

That looks uncomfortable Iain bitter wind
I had some numb bits after sitting in the boat in the morning
it is heading to warmer times and I hope that the salmon will return to our river in decent numbers Cheers Iain 🥃
That ghillie looked a bit dour faced never replying to a word you said... hope you kept your money in your wallet at the end of the day

To wide fish can be anywhere and not many fish now its like finding a needle in a haystack try trout fishing better rewards.

No surprise, salmon close to extinction in Scotland.
There have been some good catches compared too last year Mo and the size of salmon seem to be a lot larger that the previous 5 years here's hopping that this year is one to remember
Cheers Iain. 🥃
That was wild Iain, plenty water flowing down , I had a day at the Pheasants just across from where you were, freezing weather then.🥶
The weather looks great in the recordings but as you know standing out in Speyside in March is usually bitter and this year was a bit cooler . the water temp from snow melt left my feet numb .......... But looking forward to going again next year.
Catch up for a pint soon Cheers Iain. 🥃
I meant to say and Tay side
