Sadly, this turned out to be the last time Harry Caray would ever lead the crowd at Wrigley Field. He passed away on February 18, 1998. Thank you, Mr. Caray, and R.I.P.
I agree it is sad to think that this would be the last time he would lead the stretch at Wrigley Field, but at least he didn't have to hear a lot of the celebrities make their various attempts at singing the song.
The sad fact was 1997 was such a SHIT season. They began with 0-14 record! 😨 OUCH! 😱
Rest In Peace Harry!
RIH
Mrs Caray
YOU WON A PENNATE
That man loved baseball...and baseball loved him back.
No one liked him he was a bad person
@M Hate baseball much, yet you clicked on a YT video having to do with the sport.
People here except me and @Truth OverFacts are idiots
@M Man, nobody was asking which is the most "important sport". The old man just loved baseball. Do you like football? Fine. Other people like other stuff.
@M who asked
Not even a Cubs fan and this brings tears to my eyes....
maybe
indyracingnut ya me to it just makes me cry
Me too-- his singing is God awful lol
+kappelmeister123 Oh Yeah, baby, Oh yeah!!!! :-D
Me too my man! Me too!
Some things are just immortal, Harry's love for the Cubs is one of them.
His love was for the game. He was just as big a fan, if not more, of the Cardinals when he was the announcer there.
Man if he was alive!!!!!!! best game ive ever seen
Boy, howdy! That game 7 was something else.
I can hear Harry singing this in heaven. We DID IT! It is our time now. A long time coming!
You think he's in heaven?
Yes he is, millions of people made happy.
• _ •
Yep
@@JayTemple he's ALIVE KEEP HOPING...TEXAS NOT MY KINDA TOWN....GOD BLESS YOU ALL...LOVE YOU SIR..BIG MA AFRICAN NANNY SAYS NO YANKEES
I see nothing but happiness.
harry carey would be proud go cubs go take the series
Thank you MLB Field of Dreams for having Harry lead us one more time in the 7th inning stretch.
that was so awesome
The voice of my childhood.
Baseball has never been the same for me without him.
But he got to look down and see the Cubbies win it all in 2016.
As a kid growing up in the 80's, my friends and I would escape the summer heat in Texas by watching the Cubs on WGN. This brings back so many memories for me. Though I'm a lifelong Rangers fan, I will always have a soft spot for the Cubbies. And that is mostly because of the late, great Harry Carey.
Congratulations on your team’s World Championship! Savor it.
Me too.
This is beautiful. Somewhere in baseball heaven, Harry is smiling and leading this song once more
Wearing a championship ring.
Harry was the best baseball announcer ever. I first heard him as the play by play guy for the Cardinals in the 60's. He went to the Cubs after a run-in with Auggie Busch and thank heavens for that. I miss Harry, as any Cubbies fan does.
He was actually with the White Sox before the Cubs
He was also the announcer for the Oakland A's before the Sox but history will remember him for his time with the Cubs. Nothing but empty suits behind the mic in baseball these days. A lot of people tuned in to the Cubs to be entertained by Harry Caray. That doesn't happen with any of today's announcers.
Caray is celebrating in that great big baseball field in the sky.
Not a cubs fan but they really have the best fans in baseball, i admire that and their tradition of cubs baseball
And now Cubs finally could do it! I'm not even a Cubs fan but it was awesome, the best Game 7 ever!!! This video shows us baseball isn't just a game!
Felipe Almeida I'm crying
I am too!!!!!
Brian Crow Wait that ohio lost?
Felipe Almeida that was a good comeback for the cubs
As Harry would say, "It might be...it could be...it is!!"
RIP to the voice of the Cubbies!
Baseball conjures up emotions in you that other sports just can't
as a kid i used to forward to the seventh inning at wrigley field i would run to the tv and sing right along with harry caray rip mr. caray
I am a BIG Cubs fan. They are the reason I love baseball today. WGN, Harry Carey and the Cubs. And Gracey, Sandburg and Dawson of course. ⚾️
We love you Harry. I wish they would put a recording of your singing in the World Series our Cubbies are in. Wish them luck so we can all celebrate here on earth and in heaven.
I played this last night during game 3 and will do so during each home game.C'mon fans! (especially the ones behind the plate for all of the world to see with every pitch) They haven't been to WS in 71 years. GET ON YOUR FEET, EVERY PITCH, EVERY HIT, EVERY STRIKE, EVERY WIN, EVERY DEFEAT. YOU ARE THE TENTH MAN! Many of us will never get a chance to go to a game. Tell the world, the Cub fan WILL NOT GO QUIETLY INTO THE NIGHT!!! For Harry, For Jack, For Ron, For Arnie, For Dwayne, For Milo, For Vince, For Lou, For Steve, For my Dad, for every announcer, fan, past and present. LET"S GET SOME RUNS! HOLY COW! HEY HEY!
I went to a game summer of 1995 when I was in Dearborn MI for an internship. Got tickets to a game in Wrigley and was so disappointed that he didn't announce the game inside the stadium. I didn't know. The 7th inning rolled around and there he was in all his glory....I was screaming the song the whole time. What a great day! So glad I got to witness the great Harry Caray!
Caray would be proud of us right now.
He was baseball.
When the Cubs finally won in 2016, Harry was celebrating.
Except for Cleveland fans, the rest of the country was rooting for the Cubs.
Harry was the best announcer. Go Cubs.
Miss you Harry, I’ll always remember watching Cubs games with my dad when I was a kid on WGN and singing along in the 7th. Thanks for the everlasting memories ❤.
They did it for Harry. They finally did it.
The one and only. This man is the reason I love baseball and I love my Cubs. Thank you Harry, for everything. ❤
As an Australian when we played this at our old baseball games we never knew what cracker jacks were but still sang along with it
I'm from Louisiana and I would get WGN on local cable when I was young and would watch Chicago Cubs games whenever I could because of this man. I've been a lifelong Cubs fan ever since and I even ate at his restaurant when I visited up there. Thank you Harry Caray for the wonderful memories.
he was great loved watching him growing up in Los angeles. I always liked Vin scully he been the Dodgers play by play guy for 66 years now. but I loved Harry alot to brings back memories.
This World Series was for you Harry! Thank you for always being there!
I cry every time I watch this. R.I.P. Harry Caray
I'm sure the lady Harry Carey would have loved to of seen the Cubbies doing so well. I was a little kid when I heard Harry Carey singing & I still remember it today!
One of my bucket list things was to watch a Live game at Wrigley Field and it was awesome.....Just wish ol' Harry was there to sing "Take me out"
When the game was more pure and less politicized!! 🇺🇸 ⚾️
I always enjoyed Harry he was a legend to me. I watched cubs baseball for the wonderful seventh inning tradition, take me out to the ball game.Thank you Harry haven't been the same without you all these 20 years.
This takes me back. Love you, Harry! Let's go Cubbies!!
They should play a recording of Harry singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame during one or all of the next 3 games during the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley for this World Series. That would be amazing.
Keith Jensen good call
Just showed this to my 3 year old, she had been singing it all night and she watched this quietly. After it was over, she said “I want to sing at the ballgame!”
Every time I go to a baseball game I love singing this song
When my grandpa first got cable, WGN was part of the line up and he watched the Cubs every game. I always enjoyed watching Harry Caray lead "Take me out to the ballgame" and I wanted to experience it live and be a part of this. In June 1994, my mom took me on our first trip to Chicago and I don't recall exactly what happened, but Harry was having health issues and was not at the game to lead the 7th inning stretch. Talk about a major disappointment, but I am still glad to have gotten to go to Wrigley Field once in my life.
I remember watching the games just like it was yesterday. God bless you my friend.
Congrats Chicago!!!
Playing this for the last time this year! Let me hear ya!
I’ve always loved the cubs and Harry carray is my idol his grandson chip carray Snares a birthday with me anyway Harry is one of my idols just imagine his excitement if he saw his cubbies win the World Series!!!
Harry we did it!!! This buds for you!!!
I only have two words for tonight....
"HOLY COW"
Lloro 😢
I miss my childhood and the love for baseball ....time sure does have a way of gettinf away from us but these memories like these last a lifetime ...summer days on wgn watching sandberg, dawson, grace n maddux and of course the 7th inning stretch with the late legend harry caray man i miss them days😢
As a child in Texas. I watched cubs basebeall on WGN9. Loved every minute. The way the ball moves in that field. Magical
Some of us will never forget iconic baseball voices.
...Harry, PK, and all of the past teams and fans are joining in on this song today...
I rememeber back at that time when I even did not understand what he was singing and anyway I loved it!! Now, this brings tears to my eyes... );
I cryed whin the cubs win the world series way to go cubs this year all time best holy cow cubs
Instant JOY!
Astros fan here... I wish Minute Maid had an actual organist. I feel like that really adds to the overall unity of the ballpark.
I love his glasses
go Cubs! your time is almost here!
or is it
This would be Harry’s last stretch as he would pass away on 2/18/98
I never watched for the baseball. I watched for Harry Carey. Miss that guy.
My parents became friends with Harry...they used to watch them at spring training. the Cubs were their favorite team - Brewers came in 2nd, even though we are from Wisconsin !
So glad his beloved St. Louis Cardinals gave him so many good memories of winning the World Series unlike some other teams...
God forbid the Wild Card game is the last time this year we'll be singing this song for the Cubs, so they damn well better beat the Rockies tonight at Wrigley Field! Tuesday October 2, 2018.
Him and Skip are singing together today :)
I wish I was home right now! Cubs Win!
I miss him so much 🥺
We did it, Harry. We did it. The Cubs are world champions! That was for you.
He was a legend for the Cubbies! He will be missed!
I miss that man every single Cubs game. 😭
Love you Harry!!
Every time I think about the Chicago Cubs, I always think about Harry Caray. Harry Caray will always be Mr. Cub.
Brings a smile to my face when I hear this every summer in june.
😁
I remember watching this!!!
Chills! Mom and I LOVED Harry and Steve!
I was there in outfield 20 years ago. Singing and laughing. It was golden time .
I was at this game! A buddy and I flew from Ohio because it was Ryno's last home game. Little did we know at the time that it would be Harry's as well
Just remembering Harry. Cubs beat the Pirates today. Whenever I think about the cubs. I always think about Harry singing his famous song . Harry was a devoted cubs fan.🙏
There was this one particular "Cub Fan Bud Man" commercial he did for Budweiser where he was kinda rapping, though I can't really call that a rap, but towards the end he mentioned we'll win the series before we're through. And I think what he meant by that was that the Cubs will win the series before our lives on planet earth are through.
A better world! Go Cubs
Such memories
We miss Harry in CUB country =))
He was the best 🥺
This was, without a doubt, the last time Harry Caray led the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field, as he died a few months after this game, on February 18, 1998. R.I.P. Harry.
Harry was an awesome baseball announcer when he was with the St. Louis Cardinals.
This is for him
Very nice. Right on, Winners!
“Take me out to the ballgame I will ever sing because it’s the only song I know the words to” harry carary
feeling a bit nostalgic after tonight's game and Eddie's gesture.
I remember when Harry Caray did the St Louis games on the radio in the 60's
Last time too. Man he would be proud of 2016. RIP
HOLY COW! CARAY SINGS TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME!
pls win the world series .cubs... a fan from Aruba.
Had the privilege of meeting the man in 1984. The Harry you see on TV is the Harry you get in real life. Not pretentious in the least.
And we were both fueled by a Budweiser or two at the time.
Go Cubs! Win the THING
"HOLY COW" "HARRY CARAY"
AND THE WRIGLEY FIELD
"TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME" ILOVE YOU HARRY
FOREVER AND EVER.CUBS WIN
GO CUBS GO.DIOS TE BENDIGA
That's cool to see Harry Caray sing the 7th inning stretch at Wrigley Field on September 21st, 1997.
What a happy song in 3/4 time!
Cubs have a good squad this year. #RIPCURAY
May he rest in piece, he was a great singer!
THE ONE!!!! THE GOAT!!!! THX!!!!
