I got the basic gist of it, yes, the explanation's helpful. But..., well, I wrote out the question just now and had to delete it because I think I figured it out. So, clarification then, is the need for two cloaked numbers for each person/group so they have a number to call me and I have a number to call them? Otherwise, it sounds like a pretty cool, "All-In-One" solution. If it works consistently and doesn't mess up ones workflow too much if they go out of business, or, if someone decides they no longer want to use the service, then I'm all for it!
Excellent content & persuasive presentation. My solution to keep my cell phone private is to only give out my Landline phone number. My service provider will forward all calls to my cell phone. I can answer the call with my landline or if I'm out & about I can answer the phone call with my cell phone. The caller has no way of knowing I'm answering their call with my cell phone & have no way of obtaining/using/giving out my cell phone #. I don't have a so called "Smart" phone. my 4G Flip phone is enough for me to make & receive calls, make & receive texts. I tell everyone I don't have a cell phone & only give out my landline #.
Did a quick dive on their website, could not find out where they operate from, their security practices, third party vendors they use (virtual cards). A nice all-in-one solution, yet they could be more transparent. Their FAQ is a bit lean.
This is my concern, they are still a man in in the middle and have access to my communications and contacts. If they get compromised the users are screwed.
I wonder if you create a main account then use it to create a second cloaked account then only use the second account, and they get compromised there would be nothing on your main account for anyone to find. Since the second would was created with fictitious data would it be untraceable to anyone? If not, that would be a way to eliminate the "middleman".
oh man, absolutely need this in australia. i HATE giving out my phone number to anything that needs it for registration cos ive heard so many horror story of americans getting spam texts. i thankfully dont get any of those, but it's a big fear of mine
A limiting factor is the number format itself. Unlike the flexibility of email addresses, there are a finite amount of numbers in the available pool and its infrastructure is more tightly controlled. Large block ranges are reserved, and many numbers are recycled after a period of dormancy.
That's a valid concern. However, the way it's set up is that their temporary numbers is kinda just make-believe. With actual phone numbers, you're limited to (areacode)-3digits-4digits. With this system, because their app is forwarding the "fake" number to your actual number, the fake number can contain whatever number you want so long as it's not an actual phone number with an actual area code. So for instance, 123 is not a US area code, which means that every number starting with 123 is available.
@@KarmaisReal-sm6bzI suspect that, as many already do, most sites will be able to detect valid numbers and reject any that cannot be actual phone numbers.

I wish I had come across your channel prior to someone hacking several accounts but through listening to your channel and my own personal prayers I’ve been spared. I’m going to get Cloaked and email aliases. One question I hear a lot of positive things about Proton mail I’m in the process of diversifying my emails so I’m creating quite a bit. The question is do you use Proton mail for banking? Someone attacking your personal stuff gets you paranoid.
This is a cool concept... I love that I can create aliases for my Proton email... Question... Really, the only reason I want another number is to not have to give my real number out when I use apps that require phone numbers. What is your best suggestion for the price?
From what I gather cloaked only offers US numbers but is there anything stopping Australians (or other non-U.S. based) from installing their app, generating number a US number set the US number to forward to my original australian number (the one that typically rings my phone)? Would it incur international charges or some other extra step compared to the one laid out in the video? I wouldn't mind the odd looks of giving out a US number if it meant I could have a phone number masking service (similar to SimpleLogin with emails)
Sounds great with a few questions. Companies use text verification systems that fail on VoIP numbers. VoIP calls are always sound like your in a tunnel and worse. Does this setup allow regular texts that do not fail? Are the calls after connected use the provider mobile network? Or is this still a VoIP call?
I don't think this is a great solution for text verification, honestly. That's the reason I have the static second number with Hushed is for those places where I need text verification (although it doesn't work for all services). As for VoIP...I'm not entirely sure. You'll have to ask their team to find out. They don't charge for minutes used, so my guess is that it isn't?
Please do a video explaining the best way to handle 2FA when the ONLY option is SMS. Do you use a second Cell number that is not given out to anyone, or something else? Naomi Brockwell suggests porting Cell to VOIP after setting 2FA up on all the accounts. Is that a good idea?
It would be nice if cloaked and iron vest could combine services then I could have disposable phone numbers, emails and credit card numbers all in one package
I can't help but wonder how long until we're out of phone numbers again and will have to add more digits. I use an old google voice #... doesn't ring anything anymore, but people can text and leave voicemail. and since I'm not a crApple user, the app is already on my phone.
I was wondering the same thing about how many phone numbers this might consume. I’m also wondering about area codes, and whether a deleted number could be reassigned to another user in the future.
So the beauty of this method is that they can reuse these phone numbers with many people. The two-way routing is based on your phone number, so the number can be used multiple times by multiple people (even at the same time). I have no doubt that they have controls in place for abuse, but if you’re using it legitimately, you shouldn’t have a problem getting enough numbers.
@@AllThingsSecured well, I know that standard SMS and phone calls are already unencrypted, but I'm just thinking about the fact that we're possibly adding a third party's ability to listen in. Seems like an appealing service, but one big question I didn't hear answered: does using a Cloaked alias number satisfy banks and other sensitive entities that frown on virtual numbers? I followed a seemingly good idea to get around this, which did not work. I bought a burner phone, added this physical device to my cellular plan, and got a working SIM. I then ported the physical phone's number to Google Voice. This supposedly gave my ported number a non-virtual lineage, and was supposed to satisfy entities with a bias against VoIP. -- WRONG. It doesn't work. The ported number shows up as a Google number on services that provide that data. So it Cloaked the same thing, and will it satisfy the real-vs-virtual test?
The problem with SIM swapping is by and large the very people doing the SIM swapping are (from what I've read and learned recently) employees of your cell phone service providers! Hellow? Think they can't be compromised? It's not worth spending time in jail and a hefty fine, but people will do really stupid, very selfish things - especially when they're young and broke and... stupid.
You're not wrong, but using a service like this one helps remove that as an attack vector for MFA codes. If your codes are sent to Cloaked or Google Voice and not to your carrier number, then having your SIM stolen is a hassle but not a high security risk.
I need to do the thing that I can do but when I am doing it I can provide some idea for them to think each day when it come it just get a noti from someone
So numbers are allocated per sender/receiver? Does this mean other people can use the SAME designated cloak number for their unique sender/receiver? What happens if multiple sender/receiver are attempting to use the same cloak number simultaneously?
The numbers are designated based on the user. So the only way this would be a problem would be if the SAME Cloaked number was issued by two different Cloaked accounts to the same outside phone number. And my guess is that Cloaked probably has a system in place to make sure that doesn't happen (or if not, they should).
Dating purposes is not a big issue for me because I hv married but the heartache when their secret agents in the governments make drama to cover up things to protect their bad doings. Then they show as if you are overthinking or prejudice & anti social.
Interesting service and would like to use it. Are you still using this service? Would be good to see an updated video. This is good only if the website is not doing true area code verification. I have seen on other YT videos where users were able to register and the following day the website invalidates the account. Really curious how long will Cloaked invalidate & reuse the generated phone number as their are only so many numbers - I looked on their website and did not see answer.

I've called my provider and set up 2 factor authentication.
Love the idea! Hopefully it will be available outside the US. :D
I hope so too!
How should we sign up for cloakdd? Withvan aloas, phydonym,?
What's the best way to archive an old number, yet still have access to continuing call history?
Just remove the contact but keep the number. They won’t be able to call you on the number, but you’ll still have the history.
So if I exchange numbers with a girl I have to wait until she calls me right? If I call her she will see my real number?
Government agencies and many businesses won't let you register with a VoIP number. I don't think Cloaked would solve this dilemma.
It’s been hit or miss for me. Always worth a try, though.
Does anyone know if it supports RCS?
Can you explain?
The problem with SIM swapping is by and large the very people doing the SIM swapping are (from what I've read and learned recently) employees of your cell phone service providers! Hellow? Think they can't be compromised? It's not worth spending time in jail and a hefty fine, but people will do really stupid, very selfish things - especially when they're young and broke and... stupid.
You're not wrong, but using a service like this one helps remove that as an attack vector for MFA codes. If your codes are sent to Cloaked or Google Voice and not to your carrier number, then having your SIM stolen is a hassle but not a high security risk.
Pricing?
I need to do the thing that I can do but when I am doing it I can provide some idea for them to think each day when it come it just get a noti from someone
Question some people use your number to hack you? Can they still do it using cloack
How do I verify they aren’t tracking my contacts or recording my conversations?
I don't know. How do you verify that with any app you use?
This needs to go international 🌎
Hopefully soon!
I definitely like it!
The ATS 20 doesn’t work
Dating purposes is not a big issue for me because I hv married but the heartache when their secret agents in the governments make drama to cover up things to protect their bad doings. Then they show as if you are overthinking or prejudice & anti social.
With Cloaked, do both cloaked and SIM provider have access to the contents of the call or just cloaked?
I believe just Cloaked.
Very interesting!
I think so too!
🇨🇦 Now available in Canada yay!
I would love to use this. Sadly I'm in germany, EU.
If i have US sim card number and go to forein country (roaming zone) will app work?
The app will work, but the call forwarding probably won't unless you have international roaming with your US SIM card.
You look like you been out in the Sunshine! ))
Hello Josh. Speaking of phone privacy, what do you think about Graphene OS? Is it hype? Is it only marginally better than android/apple? Could it make a difference for those with genuine security concerns?
I was thinking this might make a cool future video idea 😀
How about a demo
Looks interesting.
It's a bit complicated but I like it
Talk about imsi catcher and how to prevent on iOS
Thanks for the suggestion.
