    When I was younger, almost everyone's name, address and phone number was in a big book that they gave out for free. It was a different world.

      Yeah, and when you moved to a different town, even if it was just 7 or so miles away, you HAD to get a new phone number.

      @@JRNipper In the past even if you just moved to the flat next to you, your phone number changed. It was linked to the wires. They would not have changed where the wires were terminated to let you use the same number.
      At least where I lived, it was only when they introduced computerised digital switching router (even if the signal was digital the routing process was done by a computer and not any more by rotating metallic disks) that it was possible to keep your phone number if you move nearby (provided you still where in the are of the same telephone central system)

    I typed in my number and was surprised at how much personal info is out there like SSN, DOB, last phone numbers and addresses from many years ago, and even names of relatives and their relationships to me! Cloaked implies that they can delete this data but I seriously doubt it.

      IF you can get one. they have been disconnected by CenturyLink here locally. IT sucks. Never wanted cell, but no choice here in Portland Oregon. Only businesses get landlines.

      I have never owned a cell. I never gave up my landline. You are tracked, listened to, followed.

    I didn't, have a cell phone or home phone or social media for the longest time. It used to be fun watching my boss get totally aggravated when he couldn't contact me.
    Of course it got to the point several years ago where you couldn't do anything without being on line. I still miss being a ghost.

    Years ago I set up a Google Voice number and set it to forward to my home phone and cell phone. I only give out the GV number which allows to me to block calls and give custom messages if I desire.

    Looks like a great product. I recently travelled with an esim which I purchased for 1 month. An esim and new mailbox is a simple alternative until cloaked is available in your region.

    Have you looked into this company personally? It appears that their privacy policy isn't exactly focused on privacy. Also the numbers available are UK numbers?

    The anti-span software I use is expensive, and does not have the capability of products like Cloaked. Thanks for pointing out this option! Have a great trip in Europe! And thank you for all the great advice.

    In Europe there are 10 countries that allow phone SIM prepaid without ID , passport checking when buying.
    Roaming in European Union means that you can use a SIM card with 5/ 20 GB depending on offer with any 5/ 20 Euros in any UE county.
    Cheapest way to be online and safe.
    A second dumb phone with 5 euro plan for calling is a must.

    I don't put my personal cell on social media, and a big "maybe" on relatives. Lots of social media ask you to share your contact list, so it's not private anymore.

    Yeah, I keep getting sales calls from people like Edward, Joe Ann, Steven from local numbers all with heavy accents. I return a call to the number and it is some private person that has no idea what I am talking about.

    Can't you do most of this with a google phone number? That's what I do and it's free! I just give out my google phone number and mute notifications so I don't hear if someone calls or texts it.

      nope because you aren't going to get rid of your Google number when you are done with say a trip or with using a service.
      And if you give out your Google number to every website/ service you are effectively just leaving tracking data anyways - so what's the point?

      Yeah that's not how that works. You may want to research how tracking works when you have a constant. Or not.

      @@LironSegev yeah I use a Google phone number and have been for many years. I actually got my Google phone number when it was called Grand Central and you needed an invitation. And I looked up my number that is my Google phone number and it's lol Way up in the red. But I'm not giving up my Google phone number cuz I don't necessarily keep the same phone number if I change carriers. So I hear what you're saying man lol

    Figured it out in 1 minute.
    Have a personal phone number & a burner phone number that is prepaid so it only works when you want to use it!
    Problem solved 😅
    Though, it does involve changing your main phone number once to (reset) your personal phone number
    This is an important video though so thx for making it!

      @OlettaLiano In order to create or access my online accounts, they ask to send a text to your phone number. My phone crashed, and for a few weeks before I bought a new phone, I couldn't access anything or even open new accounts anywhere. RUclips is my only "social media" account.

    A problem with a cellular number is that THEY DO CHANGE. They are not truly permanent for the person using the number. Companies asking for your number are making a mistake to think they will always be with the same person. Trouble with a carrier? Go to diferent carrier and often need to have a new cell number.

      @@LironSegev A better question is, 'how long did I have my previous number'? I lost two of them because the companies would not continue my service. I did not know ways to move to a new service and keep the same numbers. Those times, lack of knowledge - in part mine. Still learning, off and on. The lost numbers would have become recycled by now and likely belong to other people.

      Yep. And send and receive text messages. That is what makes it useful. Fully functional until you no longer need it and then delete the identity.

      So not all burner phones work internationally. You could buy a local sim card. However that doesn't solve the problem on an ongoing basis when you aren't traveling. If you keep one burner number then you are associating that number with your accounts so kinda defeats the purpose.

      Sure for WiFi. But now many services are sending emails and text messages to validate before allowing access. But what about online services? What about for a service that actually does need to contact you like say when you order is ready or when there is a gate change or a delay? False info isnt going to help you there

    ONLY my personal friends have my Cell Phone{I told them UNDER NO CONDITION, Don't give it out}. I only give out my Land Line number, that has Caller ID and Answering Machine..
