Your message about “only seeing success” on RUclips in the plant community resonated with me big time. I’ve unintentionally killed a dozen or more plants over the past 5 years or so. Thank you for being real. RE: Your B.O.P., There’s *new foliage* unfurling on the left side of the plant - which tells me that all hope is not lost. Because you recently repotted, it’s possible that (a few of) the roots were damaged, it’s almost inevitable (not calling you out). After repotting, you’ll generally have a 3-6 week ‘adjustment period’ - where less prolific / anemic growth will wilt away so the plant can focus / concentrate growth to healthier / larger growths. If I were in your situation, I would add a humidifier and move it closer to an East, West, or South facing window. Not sure where you are geographically, but if you repot it too early in the spring, the weak sun angle (if you’re not in FL, TX, CA) also won’t do you any favors. One more thing - they are also heavy, heavy feeders - I use diluted liquid fish fertilizer about 1x/week from May through September (I live in the upper Midwest). Genuinely hope that helps you out. ✌🏼
Dude. Yes! That’s encouraging lol, I’m repotting a BoP right now as we speak - that’s how I found you. Do you think you would recommend terra cotta? I’m always torn about the decision lol
I bought my BOP two weeks ago and it’s in the same condition. Ive been running a humidifier near it for the past 4 days and have been watering it a lot. I just placed it outdoors on my deck which is south facing and wiped down the leaves with a mixture of neem oil and insecticidal soap. Next step is repotting with some fungicide just in case it’s root rot. I have no clue what I’m doing I’m just trying to do everything I’ve heard of to keep my plant baby alive!
I had to repot due to root rot. My 14 year old son helped. Big rough football player got emotional cutting out the root rot. Plants are beautiful but exhausting. They say it’s easy…it ain’t
Plants are hard work. Make sure you go through my channel for an update. I ended up saving it and it's now bigger than I am and I gave it to my old neighbor.
The small browning leaves are the older leaves. I would expect them to die out first. The new growth still looks quite healthy! Keep it in bright light and fertilize accordingly and I think you’ll still come out with a beautiful happy plant!
Oh yeah I did a 2021 update. I gave it to my old neighbor when I moved cuz it was too big to fit in my car and I couldn't bring myself to cut it. Its now taller than I am.
By chance do you have a water meter? Such a huge help. A lot of times when the top of the soil feels dry, even the top two inches, actually the root ball can still be soaked. I rely on my moisture meter daily. I know that once the meter reads about a 2, I go ahead and water the plant, with the exception of my succulents/snake plants, I let them hit 0 and then I’ll water. They cost about $9-$10 and you can get them at Lowe’s or Home Depot...great investment if you don’t have one :))
Earth Boy Sun And Rain. 😔 I know it’s a pain in the A$$ but if you want to see if you can save some of it, I would take it out of that pot and examine the roots. If they look ok Plant it into a smaller terra cotta pot. If the roots look rotted/black , you can place it in water to see if you can get some healthy roots going. Treat yourself to a water meter my friend, you won’t regret~
Yes...if you scroll through my uploads, I did two updates. Once outside it actually did fully recover and grew taller than I am. I gave it to my neighbor when I moved because it wouldn't fit in my car and I would have to rent a van or a truck is how big it was.
im having the same issue with mine, i see that you've put your outside and its done well. but what if you couldn't put it outside? i am unable to put mine outside as I live in an apartment. any help will be much appreciated. thanks!
I only know a few remedies. The first is to place outside. The next option is to invest in a grow light. I have seen a tremendous change in mine since moving it outside. I just recently gave it away. Its well over 6 feet tall.
Yes I did. Ive since did an Update video and it has sent out many new leaves. I had to place it outside to see this success though. Unless you have a lot of light, these are one of the plants that must actually be outside to "live their best life."
I actually have did an Update video and need to do another one. My Bird of Paradise is now my old neighbors. I gave it away and it is flourishing. She lets me come to do videos on it here and there.
@@ladi2612 depends how bad. Since this video it was moved outside and is taller than me. My new personal opinion is that these plants do better outside. Won't say it's impossible to grow inside. But much more difficult. As far as root damage, most plants are in the wrong soil. I do almost 50% Cactus Mix, 40 Orchid Bark and a pinch of standard potting soil. Since then I havent lost anything to root rot or damage.
@@LeeDfined thnk u for replying I repot mine but for now the weather here in japan is still cold that’s why I put inside indoor but I’m worried because the root is damaged 😢🙏

I agree. Everybody's plants are green and great I always feel like a black thumb.
Dchardinay Cole lol me too. Until recently now I’m ok
How do u provide it FE? Foliar spray or in soil?

Please check my channel. I did an Update video
I got all mines in bad condition they are rescue ones so i am doing an update on them soon thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
I think the plant will pull through., Give him some time .
You are right we need the good bad and ugly.
I did an update on this plant. It's actually still alive and I gave ot to my next door neighbor. It's bigger than me now
ruclips.net/video/Jg7TPfhxS2A/видео.html the update video.
Howdy Mr Corey G. Nice 👍 you know you can put mayonnaise on it it keeps him from burning up turning brown it keeps it thick and strong

By how it looks, do you think that is whats going on? Only reason I think not is I use a well draining soil and its a terra cotta pot.
Could be a possibility, get one of those meters, you will be soo glad you did :)) Eliminates over or underwatering~
@@ItsmeRebeccaB just got home and one of the three stalks is tipped over unfortunately.

Experiencing a similar thing with mine 😩 I can't find the update video, could you share the link with me please?

Did you find out the reasoning for the dark stem? Mine has that and not sure what is happening to it. But it is producing a new life....
I ended up moving it outside and it is almost as tall as I am. So I'm doing great in with it outside.

How’s this bad boy doing now
I finally did an updated video. It's outside now and fully recovered
I’m literally experiencing the same thing right now. I can’t figure it out! 😫😫😫 This is one of my favorite plants! 🙁
Theres an update video. I threw it outside and it mase a total comeback.
I just cut mine up. It was fine until I repotted it, and then it started going downhill.
@@ahardin-CreateHappE check the comment under yours. There is an update video. It ended up bigger than me.
Were you able to save this plant? I got one and I really want to save mine from my mom

Same is happening to mine but contrary to yours, it was fine inside and started dying outside! I’m so sad and don’t know what to do.

my B.O.P. looks the SAME WAY,uggg. i thew it out cuz it was root rot. rip bop
I did an update video. It recovered and is now a good 7 or 8 feet tall
Lol bro it needs a lot of light.
That’s the issue. It needs light.
I've since did an update video, moved it outside and it made a FULL recovery. New leaf unfurled today, ironically enough.

Indirect to direct sun light.
so is it dead now?
No. There a few updates on my channel. I placed it outside, rehabilitated it...then gave it to mu neighbor next door.
Why do u say it’s failing is it root rot ?
I lost the same type of plant a month after I got it.

Hi i am here let’s see what is dying and why ?
Any updates? Having the same issue.
Yes. I actually had to move it outside and it has totally recovered.
Did an update today 4.7.2020

Possibly root rot
Took it outside and it made a turn around.
Earth Boy Sun And Rain. Yup that usually does the trick too good job 👍🏽 I was wondering
I think u should separate it and remove it from the other surviving one u have new growth tho
It looks like root rot and I don't see how since its in Orchid Bark and CACTUS mix, with a pinch of Peat Moss mixed in.
