After hearing Akira Toriyama passing, this hurts more to watch now seeing how he made this storyline so iconic for so many people. Miss you Dearly Sensei❤️🕊️
What made this moment heartwarming was that for a majority of this series, Goku was seen as this unbeatable leader and always pushed forward. This scene showed his more human personality, showing he can still break down like any other human especially in times of emotional judgement.
it really is. I'm thankful that the english dubs introduced me to Dragon Ball when I was younger, but the original is just so much better that I can never go back.
Julio Maldonado you're entitled to have an opinion, but I think the voice acting is better in the japanese. Masako Nozawa is the definitive Goku and I prefer pretty much every japanese VA to their english counterpart beyond that. there's also a long list of english dub censorship in both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z as well, which in itself makes the originals more appealing and true to the manga, and of course there's the issue of bad translations or things needlessly changed to better fit the perceived sensibilities of the english audience.
jackjackjackNcoke that's your opinion but the majority of fans would agree with me that the dub is just superior a lot of us can't stand goku sounding like an old lady
When goku first meet Gohan, he doesn't know who he really is but Goku still recognised a little bit when he said he smell something happy ,that just touch my heart Goku really miss his grandpa so bad
Until this point, Goku was this fierce little fighter with a huge amount of strength that no child should have. Here, he finally breaks down after reuniting with his long-deceased grandpa, having us remember that he's still just a kid. 😭
An example of life! Even the best warriors cry and have their feelings. Goku since childhood protected everyone around him and was trained by adults to fight with adults as a child. The guilt of Goku always wanting to get stronger was also because of whoever used it to fight to progeter others. Goku child was massacred by Piccolo father to protect others
Dragonball has became my favorite out of all the other DB shows. Goku’s relationship with his grandpa reminds me of mine. I had a dream on my birthday a few years ago he visited me in my dreams just to give me a hug. Woke up shortly afterwards balling my eyes out just like Goku did.
Latino y Japonés los mejores "Abuelito te quería ver " Como Laura Torres se transporto a su niñez y Masako literalmente con la escena, viviendoce el papel como siempre, literalmente transformó completamente la voz de un niño llorando
ngl, I remember I was the same way with My own grandfather on My dad's side, when He passed, I broke down in tears and to this day still suffer the depression His death left Me.
It's really an amazing journey on how the strongest anime character was once a small kid who had a few enemies, now has a franchise of anime that made lots of mangakas inspired by this anime. The father of all anime SON GOKU, what a journey
After everything he went through, he finally gets to see his grandpa again, even if it is just for a little while. Man, OG Dragon Ball is so emotional, from Goku being visibly overcome with grief after getting revenge for Muten Roshi and Kuririn when he defeated Piccolo Daimao to this GEM of a scene. Dragon Ball Z may have flashy battles and powerful transformations, but not a single scene managed to make me cry like this. I cried my heart out, it reminds me of my dad, who is thankfully still alive, but we've grown apart in recent years. I love you dad...
Ikr. Every old person in the dub is just the fakest old man voice imaginable. Roshi, Demon King Piccolo, the God of Earth (kami). So cringey and impossible to take seriously. They really didn't have the budget to hire an actual old man in the dub because they only had like five actors taken off the street, lol
@Andy_0L nah, he sounds horrible. Zero emotion in that voice. Just a generic fake old man voice. Only works in comedic scenes. Completely fails in og dragon ball where roshi has serious scenes
The series could have ended here. The cirlce was complete. Goku saved the world, surpassed his master Roshi and reunited with his grandfather. In a way that light hearted-adventure side of Dragon Ball ended here, starting with the 22nd tournament the tone was more serious.
It’s sad we will never get anymore scenes with gohan cause it would have made an amazing segment in dbs to train gohan to fight for what’s right and not fight to win or kill
I still really hate the idea the Super Manga been pushing where Goku has a sudden urge to meet Bardock, in general I haven't liked how they been rewriting Bardock to be more of a hero and to give him a Superman styled origin, I always liked how Goku didn't WANT to meet his real dad, having known Saiyans were terrible people like Vegeta, that he rather care for and love people who raised him like Grandpa Gohan acting like a step dad.
Yeah theyre really starting to change the core values of the Goku we all grew up with. To be honest even though super is Canon, it doesnt matter to me. I prefer to read/watch fan comics that respect the characters and give us great stories
Bardock Hero? Bro, reread the manga, Bardock killed several people along the way and only became sensitive because he identified with Granolah's mother
He basically started embracing his Saiyan Heritage after Frieza killed Vegeta, also why he prefers Broly to call him "Kakarot." I wouldn't say it's too much of a stretch for him to start wondering about his real father. Nonetheless, I think Goku should see Bardock and Grandpa Gohan on an equal footing, now that he knows both of their sacrifices they made for him.

This gets me every time, I can't watch this.
This hits hard after hearing the news of Akira Toriyama passing away….
For some reason i didn't even tear in the english version but the Japanese one hit me hard 😭😭😭
It's because the english actors are terrible amateur actors with no talent whereas the Japanese actors are talented professionals.
Because Masako Nozawa is the GOAT, especially for kid Goku. Naldony can never come close to do a better kid Goku
@@perparimbytyci6953 exactly
