I think the saddest thing is that Chichi was so relieved that Goku was fine after he got up from the heart virus, only for him to end up dying fighitng Cell. That must have been heart breaking for her

Granted, he doesn't die again for the rest of the series(with the exception of Hit taking him out for a brief moment), but still. In the Japanese version, when Goku leaves for the Cell games, Chichi told Goku to be careful, and he just smiled. I think he knew there was a good chance he wasn’t gonna make it home that day.

Y'know people give Goku a hard time for being a really goofy, slow, and naive. But people forget that he spent a large majority of his childhood living in the woods by himself with no one there to teach him social skills, school him, or give him "the talk". The reason he's so naive is because he never learned these things. I even think the characters in Dragonball forget this.
Honestly I love Goku and Chi Chi as a pairing. Yeah Goku can be naive and Chi Chi can be loud, but that's part of the appeal to me. It makes tender moments like these all the more special. Because you know, at the end of the day, they really do love each other.
Definitely. Goku might not be the sharpest tool in the shed but he tries and ChiChi can be strict but it's because she cares so much. And in the end, Goku likes Chi Chi for how tough she can be and Chi Chi does love her big hearted goofball of a husband.

A lot of people complain about how Chi Chi is annoying with how she doesn’t want Goku and their sons to fight, but honestly I feel like having a grounded character that cares about having a normal upstanding life for the other characters is something Dragon Ball needs. All the characters are constant “Train, fight, repeat”, but Chi Chi’s character development from fighter to house mom is something you don’t see everyday in anime. Dragon Ball wouldn’t be the same without Chi Chi’s terrifying will and want for her family to have a normal life, it even sets a dynamic for her and Goku’s relationship and just makes it all the more funny and enjoyable in my opinion.
Yeah, and honestly, I feel like putting the kids through intense training and then taking them to fight actual deadly threats would be the irl equivelant of making them go to war. While it's admittedly fun and cool to see the characters grow stronger and fight, I can totally understand Chichi's reason to not want that. I don't think I'd be completly approving of that either if I were her, especially if someone could very well actually die on the battlefield (or actually DID die like Goku did).
I never minded her, even though I still cheered on Gohan for basically giving her the finger when it came to going to Namek. I just miss her character growth that happened when Goku died, only for them to throw it away because "Goku's back all the time" for DBS.

The work to maintain what you have in the midst of reality being difficult and unbearable at times is marriage. I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that neither of them have any other relationships or real knowledge on marriage. A lot of people compare them to Bulma and Vegeta but the both of them were either had more experience in a relationship or more knowledge of what to do. That's because of the prologue to that scene - they had to take an interview for assesment by the private school Chi-Chi wanted Gohan to go to. And before this interview she told Goku to say those are his hobbies... So he did it to show he memorized it.
Goku and ChiChi are probably one of the most underrated couples in Dragon Ball. 💖 I know they haven't exactly been the most romantic of couples, but I just love their relationship, especially when they're at their best(a few good examples would be when Goku despite the misunderstanding about the marriage promise decided to propose to ChiChi for real, ChiChi being excited that Goku won the Semifinals, their wedding obviously, Goku whisking ChiChi away on his flying nimbus, ChiChi embracing Goku after he recovered from the heart virus, their reunion at the 25th world tournament and when Goku told his friends and family he's alive again and can come back home and ChiChi cried while hugging him)! 💖

He's figuring out their species and he seems to enjoy torturing goku because he knows chi chi likes him in their fight which may explain why she's so scarred to let her men fight aliens especially gohan ..it traumatized her
I feel so bad for ChiChi. Goku is a great guy but a terrible husband. Most of her life has been either an attempt to show him she loves him, hoping he might show her some affection…or else waiting around for him to turn up, hoping he’s still alive, and the second he shows up he wants to fly off with their 7 year old child to pit him against some global threat. A kid that’s literally the only person solidly in her life because Goku is never there. Even when he was a little boy, Chi Chi missed a whole year of his life when Piccolo trained him. He looked totally different by the time he got back. That’s a year you can never get back as a mother. Meanwhile, Goku just chooses to leave her there. She has barely any money, no car. She has to worry about sending her kid to school - it’s probably why she tried so hard to keep him on his studies, so he could earn some scholarships. What I love about Toriyama’s characters is how much sense they make. It’s easy to see why Chi Chi is a bit of a moody basket case sometimes. Actually, even the fainting makes sense, because women fainting is a consequence of poor nutrition. I think it’s a B vitamin deficiency. Despite everything Goku has put her through, and despite leaving her for years, Chi Chi has always remained loyal to Goku and still loves him and pines over him whenever he’s gone. She really deserved so much more.
What? Although Goku has his flaws as a husband and a father, you do know that the times he was gone, there was a timeskip right? He went with Uub 10 years after Buu arc which means those 10 years he was with his family. Also, don't forget he settled with Chichi for 5 years straight after marriage before DBZ. He did not see his friends by then and completely lived with Chichi, raising Gohan. Circumstances made him disappear like threats but he stayed with her whenever he could.
Goku shows chichi a lot of affection, uncharacteristic amounts of it in Z in fact. You all fail to realize that during downtime Goku spends all his time the chichi and the greatest break they’ve had was 7 years and he was dead.
Notice: Chi chi has and love that her father is in her life, that translate to respecting Goku From her youth she desired to be a good wife to Goku, cooking, cleaning, bearing and taking care of his children She dresses modest Shes clingy but not too clingy She's loyal Puts out effort in sustaining the home Goku doesn't know what is love,but he protects, provide, and have a chill vibe towards his wife He's goal oriented, being the strongest is one of his priority and he never loses sight of that He's not clingy He sometimes play hard with his wife and speaks his mind
These are such wholesome moments, but every time I think about their marriage I think of how much sadness everyone has to go through after the Raditz and Cell fights when Goku died. AHHHH
Now I see why never got bored of watching Dragon Ball. It has everything that I would want out of an anime. And the background music always different.☺️
+ThatOneShyguy idk why she did that to gohan. she was martial artist, and her dad was too. did she form angry opinion about goku over time and took it on gohan preventing him from becoming like his dad. tho she doesnt seem to act that way and seems to feel happy nostalgia when she thinks about their early years. so I dont see how her over protective nature and forcing him to study makes sense. guess she never had to change to do that, hell goku sure didnt have either. so it could be that. which is also pretty sad. she is no better than the moms from toddlers and tiaras who force their kids to perform.

I feel so bad for ChiChi. Goku is a great guy but a terrible husband. Most of her life has been either an attempt to show him she loves him, hoping he might show her some affection…or else waiting around for him to turn up, hoping he’s still alive, and the second he shows up he wants to fly off with their 7 year old child to pit him against some global threat. A kid that’s literally the only person solidly in her life because Goku is never there.
Even when he was a little boy, Chi Chi missed a whole year of his life when Piccolo trained him. He looked totally different by the time he got back. That’s a year you can never get back as a mother. Meanwhile, Goku just chooses to leave her there.
She has barely any money, no car. She has to worry about sending her kid to school - it’s probably why she tried so hard to keep him on his studies, so he could earn some scholarships.
What I love about Toriyama’s characters is how much sense they make. It’s easy to see why Chi Chi is a bit of a moody basket case sometimes.
Actually, even the fainting makes sense, because women fainting is a consequence of poor nutrition. I think it’s a B vitamin deficiency.
Despite everything Goku has put her through, and despite leaving her for years, Chi Chi has always remained loyal to Goku and still loves him and pines over him whenever he’s gone.
She really deserved so much more.

What? Although Goku has his flaws as a husband and a father, you do know that the times he was gone, there was a timeskip right? He went with Uub 10 years after Buu arc which means those 10 years he was with his family. Also, don't forget he settled with Chichi for 5 years straight after marriage before DBZ. He did not see his friends by then and completely lived with Chichi, raising Gohan.
Circumstances made him disappear like threats but he stayed with her whenever he could.
