  • Chevy 355 Engine Build Part-2 Kinda - 450 Hp Street Engine SBC | Amazing Engine Builds
    In this video you will see... well you will see my big goof up. I was filming the 2nd part of the engine build and did not realize that the battery died in the GoPro and I can't really take everything back apart to re-film it. So there will be another build in the future because I have three more 350's on the shop floor ready for disassembly. This engine is a 355ci engine SBC (.30 over gives 5 extra cubic inches).
    We are building this motor for our 1965 Chevy C10. Engine came out of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, Vortec 5.7L with Hydraulic roller cam, two bolt main.

    Block was cleaned and prepped by Central Machine shop in TN.
    The block was bored .30 over.

    I’m at the beginning wondering if there gonna do a four fork muffler or a stair pipe

      I actually put on a small 2 chamber and dumped it before the air pump for the suspension but after looking at it again I might cut it back off and dump out the side of the truck (about where the bed step is)

      @@BentOaksGarage Valve Lift: .510/.526 calculated with the 1.6 rockers or stock 1.5's ?

      @@jdandboo those numbers are listed on the cam card with stock 1.5 rockers. Gotta add an additional .03 for the 1.6 rockers

    Why not just shorten the driveshaft lol. You putting motor more forward fucks with handling in a poor way due to weight distribution changes. Also a driveshaft shop could have shortened yours. Woulda saved all the work and bitching your frame for your headers just seems silly to me

    • @BentOaksGarage
      @BentOaksGarage  3 года назад +1

      After it was all said and done, we were only three quarters of an inch off, moving the motor forwards helps get the distributor away from the firewall and will have little effect on the handling because its such a little amount of movement. Plus doing this also save she $150 fee to have the driveshaft shortened by Bowman Driveshaft.

    What name brand heads and cc and where did you purchase

    • @BentOaksGarage
      @BentOaksGarage  3 года назад +1

      Greetings, The heads are NKB - 200cc 64 Combustion aluminum heads, purchased from Skip White Performance, who also did our engine dyno. Their shop is not that far away from ours, their address is 1910 Brookside Lane, Kingsport, TN 37660, 423-722-5152. I was skeptical about them at first, but was told they are identical of another brand name head that cost twice as much. I'm very happy with the dyno results.
