Nebraska (3x champs in 90s) FSU (2x champs), Auburn (went undefeated twice in 90s while on probation('93 & '94), lost to Bama in '92 on a pick 6 (first SECCG) they would've played Miami in national title........those are the teams that beat UF......tough schedules. SEC schedule then ending with FSU was tough.
FSU reward for beating the best team in the nation and probably the best Florida team ever? Oh, you gotta play them again your next game! Lol it's amazing we beat them once considering the 96 fsu team was maybe the 5th best noles team of the 90s.
@William Jones You might be right but it’s at least debatable. The ‘08 team played 1 more top 10 team but lost at home to Ole Miss. Both teams had 2 all-Americans. Both teams won the national championship game easily. Both had a Heisman winning quarterback. I agree with you that the ‘08 team was better because of the slightly harder schedule and slightly larger margin of average victory. The ‘96 team also almost lost to #2 Tennessee with Peyton Manning and the biggest difference maker is they almost lost to the worst team in the SEC (Vanderbilt 2-9). The 2 teams were about as equal as it gets.
@@josephvanhorn5347Florida had 3 All Americans on offense in 96. Wuerffel, Anthony, and Reid. They didn't almost lose to Tennessee. It was 35-0 in the second quarter. Florida coasted and Tennessee racked up points in Garbage time. They were so very close to losing at Vanderbilt as you say. I was at the game. I'm not pointing those things out to disagree either. It's insane how similar the teams were. I thought the 96 team was more fun to watch. That's probably nostalgia being 12 years old but i played quarterback and we were the only team throwing in our league and i made the plays after the fun-n-gun. I was infatuated with the offense because everyone was run heavy back then. But damn that 2008 team beat the brakes off everyone after Ole Miss. You could also argue the 95 team. I know they got smoked by Nebraska. You could make a case for 2009. But Alabama smoked them. I know Meyer won us two titles but the Spurrier days were more magical to me. Again that's prob nostalgia though.
This is when the state of Florida ruled college football
As a lsu fan I hope it will be like that soon
Ruined? How
FSU hit Wuerffel late and dirty all game.
Nah
Yup! And the national championship, they put wuerrfel in the shotgun the ENTIRE game to avoid those late hits a 2nd time. It worked!!
Still amazes me that Florida only won one natty in the 90s.
Yeah cuz they had as much talent as anyone.
Tough schedules

Auburn only went undefeated once...1993.
@@blakemccormick9612 My bad, yes they went 9-1-1.
P Dub was a true freshmen balling
Thanks
What a game! Season finales with both teams 10-0 are a rare delight.
6:09 False Start on Anthony.
I knew where there’s some late hits on the quarterback, but I had no idea they were hitting Danny so late
Fsu crowds always sounds like it's all females 😂
Lmao

It was probably the best FSU team of all time only to be smoked in the Sugar Bowl by one of the better Florida teams.
