Now your cpu and RAM can effectively communicate at its rated speed on a consistent basis which lessen the load on the gpu and overall improve performance (maybe*). After the change, I now can run 1080p on medium at 60-90 fps. My bad if this is long and kinda technical, just wanted to put this out there and hope it can help somebody… FOR DEMOCRACY🦅🦅🦅
My game on start and on first mission is buttery smooth with 60 but after a single mission it tanks to 20. Even on lower settings it still meanders under 30. My guess is cached data that isn't being cleared when the map is unloaded.
My game worked perfectly during the first month of the game release but all of a sudden I noticed that my frames started to drop. I don’t know if the updates messed up my game or I need to do a pc upgrade but I’ll use this video to hopefully fix my fps problems
I genuinely am struggling to find the issue with my PC atm. Build, Graphics: 4080 Processor: i9-12900k Ram: 32gb Reso: 1440 UHD FPS doesn't seem to be consistent by any means. It tends to go up and down, never really consistent. I'm getting a bit over 70 FPS with Supersampling on, graphics on Ultra. Even changing those settings around don't even give me an increase. I get the same FPS regardless of my render scale setting. I cannot figure out at all what I need to do to increase my performance or if there's some sort of issue with my PC atm.
Learned: Don't change all your settings and try to play. You need to relaunch. There has to be a memory leak or something right now because I noticed my FPS would drop to below 30 even on Low if I kept swapping it around. Restarting the game brought me above 100
yeah my fps if for some reason limited to 80... I have no clue why. I had the game locked to 80 with the in-game limiter, but even after disabling it, it's still locked at 80. It's frustrating.. Also I get like 60-70 % GPU utilization on my 4090 and it doesn't go higher. Before that my GPU was pegged at 99% most of the time. CPU 7700X. Do you have the same issue?
The only hang up doing them one at a time is how the settings interact or load your system as a group of settings. Doing them one at a time with them all on low can be deceiving.
I'm hyper fixated on my FPS normall but somehow even though i was playing at 60fps sometimes lastnight the game still looked like it was running VERY well.
I cant believe how many frames you get from lowering reflection quality, when there are so little reflections in the game lmao. Definitely a noticeable difference!
I have the absolute lowest settings, low graphics settings, no motion blur, ultra performance. Take I guess of what my fps is. A whopping 18 fps. That is the best I've gotten so far. Quality settings and low graphics comes to a total of 12 fps. Any suggestions? Should I go for fps and get a mess of blurry or get almost no blur but get low fps. Either way I'm getting low fps. Currently I play at balanced settings and low graphics averaging at 13 fps.
This is frustrating for me, I have a GTX 1060 6gb VRAM, its not great stuff but its decent, I can play solo or on duos with 60fps smooth on high quality, but as soon as we are 3 or 4 players I go down to 40-30fps even dropping to 20 in extreme situations like dropping 3 orbital nukes, even playing in the lowest configuration it stills drops to 40fps
I expected bigger impact 🥲 Just switched from 1080p 60Hz monitor to 1440p WQHD 180Hz and I got around 100 fps on ultra quality render and ultra settings on an icy planet. My goal with this would be to get around 140+ for 144Hz preset but I guess I will just have to get used to a hundred 🤷
I have found the frames to be wildly inconsistent. A few nights ago I was getting a smooth 60 frames on Performance mode with my gtx 1080, and the game looked great. However when I started playing it last night I couldnt push past 40 frames, even when I lowered my graphical settings to try and squeeze as many more frames as I could. I wish the game had a targeted FPS option, as for some reason even when I put it on Ultra Performance it doesn't actually give me any extra frames, just makes the game look shittier with no benefit. If I could set the game to always do 60 or 90 fps I would. I know COD MW 2 has this setting and it works great.
Same thing happened to me.... It's either the servers can't handle too many players or there is a memory leak... Btw try playing solo there is a huge difference in fps.
@@dardeb15 I noticed that playing solo REALLY helps with performance. I guess a lot of it is the game rendering three extra characters and all their strategems / weapons / etc.
This guide defo doesnt cover most of it. As you go up in difficulty, the amount of enemies gets drasticly multiplied more and more. The clutter gets mose massive in 1 LOS. To add to it when they use their attacks whether its lasers rockets or vomit etc, you get really smacked with low fps. So this guide really just shows what his stable fps looks like in a trivial difficulty with nearly or no enemies around. The map is empty mostly. Try what he did on 7 8 or 9.
I play on a 3050 laptop and still get around 70-90 fps in solo at low settings but often the game just decides that it wants to run slower like one time I had 20 fps but it was just a bug
I travel a lot for work and even though I'm sure my computer at home would run the game just fine, I would like to know if it would be playable on my laptop. i7 10510U, MX230, 8GB. By playable, 40-50 FPS on lowest settings would be fine. Thoughts?
I use a gaming laptop RTX 3050 6 gb vram AMD Ryzen 7 6800h 32gb ram I also have an IET fan. With this I can run 1440p games at 60-90 fps with a DLSS on Quality with Medium to High graphics This game unfortunately doesn't run well when most games do
Your wrong about the "Space Quality" preset as well. It's the skybox texture for all the maps. On the ground or in space. It shouldnt affect performance because it's just loading a texture once and sitting there. So it's RAM based.
That's not a very good optimisation guide... you are an a planet without any action, I did the same for my config... I was running at 120fps with a 3080 ryzen 5 5600xt on a planet alone... When I came back on a planet with other players and more mobs... I dropped down to 60-70fps. You have to try the settings in different situations
Im on the lowest possible graphics on 1080p using a 960 gtx, i barely hit 35 fps. 20 fps when many enemies near me. Also getting fps drops sometimes to 10 fps for no reason. I dont expect to hit 60 fps but at least steady between 35-50, Anyone know what i can do to fix it?
And there's me with a 2080 i7 LAPTOP with pretty bad cooling. I have a cooling stand, vent fan and good thermal paste yet have to place an industrial fan facing the bottom of my laptop to not suffocate and die from. 90°. I feel like I just need to save up 1.5k for a desktop
it's not FSR 1, it just lowers the render scale, and i'm guessing the shimmers are just from aliasing since i don't get them with aliasing off with upscaling
The "Render Scale" preset has nothing to do with DLSS or FSR. At Ultra Quality your rendering about 90% of your resolution. Everything is made more blurry at anything under Native, just as if you set this at the driver level. My issue is my 4090 is only running at 900mhz... so I get 130fps at native 1440p but I'm on 240hz monitor. When I drop the Render Scale to quality my card finally decides to boost to 3ghz and gives me 240fps. It's so weird.
I have a 3070ti Intel i7 12700h 32 gb of ram And play at 2560x1600. I play on Medium and quality upscaling and only get around 70-90 fps. Game feels a little odd to say the least. But recently other games I've been playing have seemingly dropped in FPS as well. So idk whats up.
My games fps keeps stutering. Like it'll go up to 90 fps and than back down to 30 fps in the span of 2 secs on repeat without me even doing anything how do I fix this. I have a 3080 ti graphics card with a 12 Gen Intel core i7
im playing in 2k on 3060 i5 10400f I had tweaked all settings, 0 difference but the game stated to look like shit I turned of anti aliasing - jumped from 49 to 70, but it was too sharp, could see the pixels Set on quality render and its look ok and now running at 80+
I have 3060ti and 5800x3d play on an lg 4k tv. You think ill get decent image quality and perf from this game? As i understand the render scale is only FSR and not DLSS. I would probably have to tone down settings and then set it to balanced or something...Idk if its worth it?
I'm using a 4070Ti while playing it, with a 3060Ti I believe you can have a pretty good experience with medium graphical settings while upscaling is anywhere from performance to ultra quality, depending on what you find more important, fps, or image clarity. I believe the 3060Ti also has 12GB of VRAM right? Which means you can keep texture quality on Ultra I believe.
i have a 3060 and a 5700G. I somehow get way better perfromance than Chute does here, but i also have 12gb of VRAM vs your 8, which makes it seem like VRAM is king for this game.
@@CorvusCorviday Nah, VRAM doesn't matter when it comes to performance, you're simply able to play with Ultra textures while 8GB of VRAM can support High texture quality at best.

i have a 3080ti and 12700k and i'm getting ~90 fps on 1440p with everything maxed out (resolution scale is at native). i don't know why you're getting 40's and 50's with a better cpu than mine at the same resolution. (cpu is running hella hot tho)
My 6700k+ RTX 3080 and 16 gb of ram, Playing this 2K with default graphics settings and it absolute gorgeous. It runs 30 fps almost all the time and I feel like I'm playing this game on PS3 💀
Thanks for this video. I think I'll turn some of the heavy hitters down later to see how much it helps me out for my PC. My GPU is a GTX 1660 (I can double check the exact specifications later when I am back at my PC) and the game seems to run pretty okay for the most part, and still (imo) looks nice at lower settings so I don't mind running low for the moment. The main concern I have, and why I'll be turning some more things down, is my CPU which is a (copied from PC info: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz. I'm not entirely sure what all that means to be honest lol, but I am told it's above Min. requirements, but below the Req. requirements. I notice when playing, especially on Challenging difficulty when things get intense for enemy numbers, the game constantly is making my CPU run at 85% - 100% which freaks me out lol. I'm hoping adjusting some of these settings can help lessen that, but I am concerned for the long term health of my PC while playing this game. I can't really afford to upgrade anything right now either sadly sooo... I am a little worried how playing this will be until I can get some money saved up for an upgrade. I should check what temp the CPU running at next time I boot it up, my GPU seems to run at 66 - 70 degrees Celsius on this game and many other more modern games which I assume is okay? I shall cease my rambling for now, thanks again for the video breaking things down the way you do! Glad to at least have some things in mind to fine tune more next time I'm on the game.
@@doomluvr05 Hey, I am so sorry for the very late reply. I haven't been able to get onto the game the past few days when I'd find free time so I wasn't able to really check my settings. I'm not sure how much it'll help but what I have is: Textures - Low Object Detail Quality - Medium Render Distance - Low Shadow Quality - Lowest Particle Quality - Medium (I may turn this down if it does help CPU) Reflection Quality - Low Space Quality - High Ambient Occlusion - Off Screen-Space Global Illumination - On Vegetation and Rubble Density - Low Terrain Quality - Medium Volumetric Fog Quality - Lowest Volumetric Clouds Quality - Lowest Lighting Quality - Medium Anti-Aliasing - Off I have Motion Blur at 0, kept Depth of Field and Bloom On (I may mess around with it), and Sharpness is at the default 0.75. I also have Render Scale on Native, limited my FPS to 60 just incase that helps the CPU (I think people said that can help it?) and I currently have V-Sync off as well. Sorry if these settings don't really help out or if they don't look as good or run as well as you may like. It's been okay for me so far, although it does still get a bit inconsistent in higher difficulties when enemy numbers really get up there, but generally I have trouble recalling how often that does happen so that's probably a good sign if it doesn't happen often enough for that lol.
they mustve done some optimization im running at 10600k with a 3070 ti and run everything on high some on ultra and its 80-90 fps on average @ 1440p weird
This is probably caused by a bug. I'm having this happen to me inconsistently. Some ppl say it's caused by amount of ship in orbit, but I don't think that's the case, as I've had cases where there are many ships rendered in but no lag.
Y dont understand i got a 2070super at 1440p renderation on ultra quality en grafics on medium and the runs at 100fps and you with an rtx 3080ti runs at 70 fps
I got this game. I have a 4090 and i9 chip, along with a really good water cooler. So I install and start the game, and all 3 fans start running loudly (which I have never seen before in any game), and this WAS AT THE MENU SCREEN. During tutorial, my card is slowly getting hotter and hotter. So I start turning down all the graphics settings, and enable sync to 60 fps max. If everything is set to "Medium", the game still runs hot. Something is very wrong with it.
My computer is hilarious, when I reduce settings, I lose FPS. When I push high/ultra, I gain fps. This game is so heavy on cpu it’s fucked. I wager it’s just simply because it’s generating so many assets all with independent movements all at once. The cpu is doing the heavy lifting, not even the GPU. My GPU sits there at like 60% or less half the time. That’s why when I push high and ultra I get better fps because it’s actually forcing the GPU to do some work instead of sitting around doing nothing. The computer still has to render and process all those damn bugs and robots no matter what. This is why I don’t upgrade my pc. Changing that render distance is big for less powerful CPUs. It’s interesting fighting between a weaker CPU and insufficient vram at times. It’s like this weird Venn diagram you just have to hit right.
Only thing is I do not understand why fullscreen option doesn't work, game just opens in window, probably because my display is 2560x1440 but I open games in 1920x1080 and instead of just opening game in fullscreen why this resulution, it just opens in window and because of that I need to use heavy upscaling :| Also I don't think on such small maps, even with so many enemies performance of this game would be that bad, I had some massive fights in warframe with so much going on screen and still had stable 60fps on medium and here in Helldivers it is just pain
I believe thats because this is a DX12 game. If Im not mistaken Fullscreen no longer exists, and anything that offers full screen is just borderless full screen windowed, so you get weird behavior like this.
If you have an Nvidia card you can set max fps in the Nvidia Control Panel. Similar option on AMD as well. Capped mine to 50 fps with Latency Mode set to Ultra. Barely reaches the 70s on a 3060m with this videos graphic settings.
I have a pretty strong GPU (RX580) but weak CPU i5 4440 and only 8GB of RAM... do you think I can run this game properly? It's ok to set everything in low, graphic does not matter much for me, as long as the frame rate is stable and no slowdown like playing helldivers 1 on vita.
@@zoopa9988 that is glad to hear... But will my cpu able to run it? Since it's only i5 4440, very old i know... But if i upgrade it, i also must upgrade my mobo. I'm not really swimming in money right now, especially in this kind of economy.
I think they may have improved performance since this video. I have a 7800xt which is supposed to be on-par with 3080 ti but I get much better performance than he is here @ same resolution

Good video but I wanted to add some caveats
1 - The game looks bad with AA off because you have the sharpening up with AA off, no AA is already crisp/clear your'e just exaserbating it. The sharpening was added to the game *because* of the AA method.
2 - The reason AA off is provided even when it doesn't have a big performance impact is because TAA (the AA type infamous for blurring) has a lot of concessions to it other than just stationary blur as you noted, but most of them you're not going to see unless you're moving or panning the camera.
It has motion blur, which means its an accessibility setting for those with motion sickness. TAA also falls apart in motion, just side step (press A and D repeatedly) between Off and On and you'll see the motion blur and you may even see other TAA artifacts like smearing, ghosting, etc.
It's very important to test TAA and upscaling in motion when judging its quality. It also gives the image a smudgy look that grows stronger and stronger the lower your resolution is, which makes its concessions worse.
It's all preference ofc, but your setup and biology and game genre all play a big role in whether or not it's desired. Best of luck.

Always glad to see your videos, Thanks.
I genuinely am struggling to find the issue with my PC atm.

Graphics: 4080
Processor: i9-12900k

FPS doesn't seem to be consistent by any means.

Is this system CPU bound? With a 5800x 3D and 3080 (non TI) I get high 80s to 90fps on ultra, 90-100 on high. This system is getting 47-50!?

Doing them one at a time with them all on low can be deceiving.

youre an absolute legend, this really saved my game from looking a bit like shit to looking decent with decent fps
The upscaling options have absolutely no impact on my performance, just makes it blurry. If anything I think I lose frames.
How does this work if I use anything other than supersampling as my render scale my game looks like dog shit ?
I cant believe how many frames you get from lowering reflection quality, when there are so little reflections in the game lmao. Definitely a noticeable difference!
For me runs on 70s to sometimes 80s but when things start happening like to many bots and explosions it drops on 50s
Currently I play at balanced settings and low graphics averaging at 13 fps.
it's a GPU heavy game wdym
This is frustrating for me, I have a GTX 1060 6gb VRAM, its not great stuff but its decent, I can play solo or on duos with 60fps smooth on high quality, but as soon as we are 3 or 4 players I go down to 40-30fps even dropping to 20 in extreme situations like dropping 3 orbital nukes, even playing in the lowest configuration it stills drops to 40fps
I get a way better picture on Native setting but less frames but when I play on anything except Native the game is super blurry.
I'm running RTX 4060 with a ryzen 5 3600 and it's struggling with even medium settings. Any tips?
Get a better CPU. Or reduce Distance Render to Low.
If you could make a video on how to make the game playable on 7000 series GPUs that'd be much appreciated.
I guess a lot of it is the game rendering three extra characters and all their strategems / weapons / etc.
try dx 11 steam launch command huge fps boost
This guide defo doesnt cover most of it.
As you go up in difficulty, the amount of enemies gets drasticly multiplied more and more. The clutter gets mose massive in 1 LOS.
To add to it when they use their attacks whether its lasers rockets or vomit etc, you get really smacked with low fps. So this guide really just shows what his stable fps looks like in a trivial difficulty with nearly or no enemies around. The map is empty mostly. Try what he did on 7 8 or 9.
Soo, whats your settings your playing with?
Great vid took me from 30fps to 72fps
I play on a 3050 laptop and still get around 70-90 fps in solo at low settings but often the game just decides that it wants to run slower like one time I had 20 fps but it was just a bug
so, what does async compute do? i dont see it on your settings but i do on mine, should i turn it on?
Play with Anti Aliasing and the sharpness filter! i noticed turning aa Off and then set sharpening to 0 creates kindof a AA effect XD
Lol good idea, that’s like an astigmatism simulator
I travel a lot for work and even though I'm sure my computer at home would run the game just fine, I would like to know if it would be playable on my laptop. i7 10510U, MX230, 8GB. By playable, 40-50 FPS on lowest settings would be fine. Thoughts?
The game will not be playable on that laptop unfortunately.

This game unfortunately doesn't run well when most games do
16gb ram, ryzen 5 4500, NVIDIA RTX 3050. Medium gives me 51 fps, i pull 90/100 on low. staggering difference on my hardware
Your wrong about the "Space Quality" preset as well. It's the skybox texture for all the maps. On the ground or in space. It shouldnt affect performance because it's just loading a texture once and sitting there. So it's RAM based.
It definitely affects the framerate
That's not a very good optimisation guide... you are an a planet without any action, I did the same for my config... I was running at 120fps with a 3080 ryzen 5 5600xt on a planet alone...

You have to try the settings in different situations

Pretty sure the scaling is fsr 1.0 because of the shimmers that 1.0 gets but it's also the easiest to run
it's not FSR 1, it just lowers the render scale, and i'm guessing the shimmers are just from aliasing since i don't get them with aliasing off with upscaling
@@Moonistic Why would they have the same presets as fsr then and not let the user set custom resolution scale because it is fsr
It's so weird.
it uses FSR 1 and applies TAA which is why its blurry
@@cr4mbo it's definitely not FSR 1, since it doesn't even upscale it at all from my experience, it just lowers the 3D render resolution

Sony games on pc always consume more %cpu dont worry

Reflection Quality - Low
Space Quality - High
Ambient Occlusion - Off
Screen-Space Global Illumination - On
Vegetation and Rubble Density - Low
Terrain Quality - Medium
Volumetric Fog Quality - Lowest
Volumetric Clouds Quality - Lowest
Lighting Quality - Medium
Anti-Aliasing - Off
I have Motion Blur at 0, kept Depth of Field and Bloom On (I may mess around with it), and Sharpness is at the default 0.75.
