    I got a SNES Classic for my birthday. The stock at my local game store was actually quite good. I didn't get the NES Classic, but my friends do have one. I'm really happy to have it, the SNES is one of my favourite consoles ever.
    As a thought on a theoretical N64 Classic... I'm a bit concerned about the controller, and this time it isn't the cord, it's the design of the controller itself. I'm sorry, but the N64 controller was poorly designed compared to the excellence of the ones on NES, SNES, and GCN. That's one system I'd gladly use the Wii's Classic Controller over having one accurate to the original.

    I waited in front of a Walmart for three hours to get a SNES. (They had 24 in stock) The hours I'll be playing Earthbound alone are worth it!

      Indrijid EarthBound alone is worth the price. There are 2 reasons.
      One, it's my favourite video game. And two, the actual cartridge is more than twice the price of the actual SNES Classic.

    A big thing I would change about these consoles is making them be able to go online. There are so many amazing titles that aren't included. Being able to go online to purchase and download additional titles would've been a really nice touch.

      Heisenberg - haha the ironic thing is our GameCube still works perfectly fine today, but we only got our Wii a few years or so after it and it got so old it can't properly read some games anymore (e.g. Super Smash Bros. Brawl, some of my cousin's games, etc.).
      I believe our GameCube is around 11 years old (I just know that it's definitely over 10 years old) and our Wii is 9 years old lol

    • @WaterxWolfx100
      @WaterxWolfx100 7 лет назад +2

      I've been fortunate to hold onto mine that I got 12 years ago. I can never get rid of it because I have a newer generation Wii that doesn't have the backwards compatibility to the GameCube. And if we really want to talk about old games consoles, I never upgraded past my PS2.

    • @Dospe
      @Dospe 7 лет назад +4

      When they inevitably do I really hope that they give us the option to enable higher resolution textures. IMO the N64 has the second or third worst looking graphics out of all of Nintendo's consoles (with the Virtual Boy being the worst and the NES being either second or 3rd depending on the game) because of how polygonal and low-res everything was.

    • @Dospe
      @Dospe 7 лет назад +10

      Jonnyboi: Why do you think they won't have Banjo or DK64? Is it because Rare developed them? Because Rare also made Donkey Kong Country, and that's on the SNES Mini.

    • @jonny2682
      @jonny2682 7 лет назад

      good point. i relly hope they are gonna be on it

    • @wschippr1
      @wschippr1 7 лет назад +6

      Donovan Spencer
      Rare doesn't own DKC though and that's a pretty huge distinction. Nintendo only commissioned Rare to make DKC, but all of Rare's original IPs (Banjo, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct, Jet Force Jemini, Blast Corps, and Conker) are now owned by Microsoft. Its highly unlikely that MS would allow Nintendo to use these titles on a N64 Mini. This is a pretty big problem, at least imo, as this cuts off many of the N64's top tier games.
      Like let's do a quick list of games:
      LoZ: OoT
      LoZ: MM
      Super Mario 64
      Paper Mario
      Harvest Moon 64
      Ogre Battle 64*
      Star Fox 64
      Super Smash Bros.
      Resident Evil 2*
      Mario Kart 64
      Mystical Ninja starring Goemon*
      Goemon' Great Adventure*
      Sin & Punishment
      F-Zero X
      DK 64
      Pokémon Stadium*
      Pokémon Stadium 2*
      Pokémon Puzzle League
      Pokémon Snap
      Mischief Makers
      Rayman 2*
      Mario Party*
      Mario Party 2
      Mario Party 3*
      Bomberman 64*
      Bomberman 64 2nd attack*
      Space Station Silicon Valley
      Mega Man Legends 64
      There are others like Mario Tennis/Golf, Turok games, Dr Mario 64, Pilot Wings 64, and various racing/sports titles (a few wrestling games are really popular, but once again highly unlikely due to licensing constraints) that I am not going to get into, but will definitely have some titles on it. The titles with an asterisks on it are possible, but highly unlikely. The list is also has a very sameness feel to the titles, like they're all in one or two genres.
      I guess this all would be representative of the N64 though, as it really struggled with diversity of titles for its library. It's a great system, but it's library just isn't great, it's got maybe fifty or sixty games that are really still worth playing today and most of those are made by two companies, Nintendo and Rare and one of those company's titles won't be featured on the N64 classic sadly.

      HylianGamer no it's really not. A NES alone is about 40-60, and total cost of just the carts for the games in the NES classic is about 89-150 total. So no it's not cheaper, maybe in the 90's and early 2000's sure but not today

    The best thing about the NES/SNES classic: how hard it is to get them.
    Seriously tho, Nintendo throws such a hissy fit over emulation when they couldn't be bothered to distribute enough emulators/roms themselves. Smh.

However, it is Definately worth the investment since buying original copies of these games will probably put you over $1000 margin. (Games like Earthbound alone, cost $300.) • @theskepticpirate156
      @theskepticpirate156 6 лет назад +2

      Personally, I think it's just Nintendo being Nintendo and cutting costs at the expense of the player. Saying that the controllers were made to replicate sitting on the floor next to TV like in the old days would be valid reason if the cords were just as long as the original. Problem is that the cords are noticably shorter and TVs these days are much bigger. I don't have a problem with the idea of "replicating the olden days." In fact I like it. It's why I have no problem with how switching games work: get up off the couch and switch the games. I just want a longer controller cord.

    I work at Walmart so I was able to snag a mini SNES quite easily. Only 20 people lined up at my store to buy one and half of them were re sellers. As far as the NES Classic, it honestly was dumb luck that I even found one. My pharmacist told me there was one back there so I took my break and immediately ran back there to buy it. I eventually ended up buying an extender for the cord after unsuccessfully purchasing and returning a third party controller that didn't even work when I plugged it in. Thankfully, I don't need to buy a second controller seeing as the official NES Classic controllers are also nonexistent. They also make great set pieces for my bookshelf along with my amiibos when I'm not playing them.

    I’m in NYC and went to the Nintendo Store and had to wait on line 2.5 hours, but they had plenty in stock. Only 1 per person, and you have to buy it with credit or debit card and show ID. Other major stores like Target and Best Buy were out after day 1. Also, I would’ve liked Final Fantasy 2 and Chrono Trigger.

      Chaos89P DK is a Nintendo franchise. Rare never owned Donkey Kong, just made some games for Nintendo using the license.
      We won't see any actual Rare games on an N64 classic, but will see Donkey Kong 64 at least. Diddy Kong Racing is a no go due to Banjo and Conker.
      Goldeneye would also be impossible due to licensing.

    Seriously? Stop complaining about the cord length. You need to have the systems at an arms reach in order to change games, create save states and rewind. The HDMI wires are extra long to accommodate having the system close to you. Other than that, keep up the good work TheJWittz!

    NES and SUPER NES were two wonderful video games, both for their incredible library of games and for the technical advances they brought in their respective eras.
    I remember that when the ATARI 2600 reigned, the games had very primitive and square graphics and most didn't even have a soundtrack. Those that had a plot, stage progression or well-defined ending were also rare. Then the NES came along and modernized all of this. For the first time, games had recognizable characters and settings, well-made theme music, different stages, a plot and a real ending. The games were no longer repetitive.
    Some more time and the SUPER NES appeared, which, together with GENESIS/MEGA DRIVE, brought even more advances, such as multiple background layers and which often still moved separately (so-called parallax), large sprites, very wide color palettes, stereo sound , in addition to, in the case of the SUPER NES: zoom, rotation and transparency effects. Oh, and of course, there are also more buttons on the controls, increasing the gameplay possibilities. For all this, 2D games were brought to a peak (although the excellence in 2D was NEO-GEO, but this was so expensive and inaccessible, that it was not something for mere mortals like us lol).
    NES and SUPER NES are two great video games and congratulations on the excellent review!!😊

      I meant a version of the NES classic and SNES classic that plays only JRPGs. While the Classics have their share of JRPGs, it would be nice if they included JRPGs that never got an English release before like Sweet Home on NES and Shin Megami Tensei on the SNES.

    • @TheForeignGamer
      @TheForeignGamer 7 лет назад

      I know what you were saying, I was just being facetious. While sure, it would be nice to live in a world where that kind of thing can happen, you have to remember that Nintendo is taking a risk by re-releasing their older games to a modern audience, even if a good chunk of the people buying this are part of the older gaming generation. They can't afford to make their classic console have literally only one genre make an appearance, because the appeal for that is so niche it doesn't make sense from a business perspective. The only smart decision is to do what they did and have a wide variety of titles to choose from. Titles that, I hope I need not point out, Nintendo still actually has the rights to use.

    • @Compucles
      @Compucles 7 лет назад

      Just buy them all from the Wii's Virtual Console. Aside from Japan-only releases (which require knowledge of Japanese to play, anyway), they've got every major JRPG release from the time on there, including ones from other systems like the Phantasy Star games, except you'll need a Wii U for "Earthbound" or "Earthbound Beginnings."

    • @mattwolf7698
      @mattwolf7698 7 лет назад

      Compucles Just emulate the Japanese-only ones, many have probably been fan translated and Nintendo wasn't going to get any money from you for those games anyway as they aren't selling them here.

    I'm sorry, the NES and SNES classics are just something I can't support. Ignoring the pretty small game library, the NESC having just one controller, the incredibly short controllers, I can't support Nintendo's stupid 'artificial demand' plan of action. "Hmmm, you know what we should do instead of making enough of our console, probably allowing us to make more money?", "What?", "MAKE ONLY A FEW! Scalpers will find a way to get a ton of them, and then they will sell them for extra money that we will never see any of!"
    I'm just going to be a scumbag and stick to emulating. It's free, I don't have to wake up at 6am to get one, and I don't have to spend $200 if I don't wake up at 6am.
