This special put him on our radar. It still holds up and is proof of his genius. Loved Peewee through thick and thin! Heaven just became a little bit funnier.
This HBO special was my intro to Pee Wee too. It was definitely a grown-up comedy show, seen through a lens of adult nostalgia. So I was surprised when it became a kids TV show, since his whole act was a send-up of a mid-century children's TV program.
As a Boomer, who grew up on Soupy Sales, Kaptain Kangaroo, Etc. I loved this show. this is genius. I am now seriously thinking of buying the box set of this show.

This is insanely good! IN 1973, I bought "Sly and the Family Stone Greatest Hits" . The best money I ever spent. But this is a terrific condensed version of one of the greatest albums of all time.
RIP Pee Wee! The world is a little less funny and whimsical without you. Thanks for laughs and smiles! Pee Wee's working hard under those lights - his suit has wet armpits.

Now he sleeps in death, free of pain, sorrow and suffering and has the hope of awakening onto this earth made perfect where there is no pain, sickness or suffering. We all will forever enjoy his comedy again.
Their act doing musical parodies was The Rick & Ruby Show and they were a big club act in the SF/Bay Area in the late 70s/early 80s. I saw them a number of times at the Boarding House & The Great American Music Hall, etc. They were hysterically funny. Wish those shows were available on video.
Love this! And I saw Sly and the Family Stone at Madison Square Garden more years ago than I like to think. Pee Wee was awesome and so was Sly. This video brought back wonderful memories. Pee Wee you are missed!❤
I've always loved Pee-wee - the more you watch, the funnier things become. The world isn't the same without him, but I'm thankful we've got visual reminders of his incredible genius, both serious and comedic.
