Yes ....I absolutly get it. For me it was working with Dad on the farm in the summer. Having lunch at noon that Dad would put together and timed it so he, my brother and I would watch it...everday. So fun!❤
I was on the Gong Show , and The $1.98 Beauty Show where my song was censored, so Chuck had them write in a bit to " cover " it .Barris hired me again & got me my AFTRA & SAG cards, he was great to me and so kind & encouraging.
I've always said that the Got Talent premise took the best part of Ed McMahon's "Star Search" (the continuing auditions) and melded it with the best parts of "The Gong Show" (small panel of celebrity judges and the gong), and added a few tweaks over the years.
Because the left, MSM, the woke mob, DEI authorities, LGBTQ+ community, BLM, antifa, the view woman, and other foolish women throughout America, would be offended and demand everyone involved be lined up against a wall to see how the small amounts of the element of lead, moving at high speed, reacted to them.
I was there when JP Morgan flashed the audience durring the Gene Gene the Dancing maching. She slowly unbuttoned each button and flaskes her A cups and re buttoned. I would cut school and go to NBC studios in Burbank and watch them tape. Also trash piched Warner Brothers records and brought home demo albums in the trash after delivering papers on my paper route. I think it was 1977 or 78.

This show was terrific, I can't believe they ever let it come to an end. It really let people know how strange the average person could really be. We need more shows that exposed how delusional some people in this country can be.
Not according to Chuck Barris, the host and executive producer. It was still pretty crazy though. This was the same guy who produced both The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game, along with a few other shows with varying degrees of success. It was kind of risqué for daytime TV at the time.
This show is groundbreaking. This led the way for things like star search. America's got talent and under sounds like that. This show was truly groundbreaking, think about it.

Great thing about the Gong Show was that the contestants didn't take themselves so seriously. It was all for entertainment and FUN, and the novelty of "being on television". This is something that shows like "The Voice" or "America/Britain/Australia's Got Talent" totally get WRONG. The modern shows are essentially looking to convert their contestants into money makers, and "Candid Camera" the rest in a series of truly murderous out-takes. Bring back the "Gong Show" attitude towards ENTERTAINMENT PLEASE!
