Great review Pete and new studio looks fantastic 😁👍
Thanks, Gary! Appreciate it.
Glad you mentioned the absence of aperture ring. Also thank you for mentioning all the plastic. I wonder how it compares in image quality to the xf 8-16. Good review.
Sure thing!
Great lens as additional lightweight focal leght extension if someone like to shoot telephoto.
The sharpness test might be flawed due to field curvature. Remember to focus in the corners when looking/testing corners. It might then give better results.
Thanks for this tip. I will give it a try next time but I'm wondering then if the center will be less sharp if I focus on the corners. Also, in what real world context do you think you would focus on a corner, unless a subject is in the corner? I find myself focusing in or near the middle of the frame for most of my shooting. Thanks for the comment!
Nice review.. Interested in a new ultra wide as my 10-24 is damaged.. How do you think this Sigma compares to the Fuji.. also the Tamron is not double the price.. it goes for about $800 as compared to $600 for the Sigma.. Most reviewers have mentioned that the Tamron is a little sharper, but I don't want to lose even 1mm on the long end
Thanks! Unless I am remembering wrong the Tamron was $1199. $899 is a much more reasonable price for sure. Tamron is def a bit sharper but not a game changer IMO
So I'm a bit confused. Does the 10-18 resolve all of the 40 megapixels on the XT5/XH2S?
I'm not sure what Fuji says about any 3rd party lenses resolving the 40mp. Honestly I wouldn't worry about that either the lens is sharp or not.
Hi Pete, I have a question for you. Does your lens, when the camera is turned on or off, move the blades to close the aperture and emit an electronic sound? Is this normal?
I don't remember any noise when I tested it out, but some lenses do indeed make a faint noise when the camera is on.
The
Not internal weather sealed is a big bummer and a deal breaker for me, as i travel in all weather and photo and video it Its basically a no go.
No aperture ring is not a deal breaker but above triumph it.
Hi, thanks for the video:) Does it lose focus when you zoom in/out, especially while recording video ? or have you noticed any light change when you zoom in/out during video shooting ? Btw I have XT5 as a body
There won't be a light change shooting manual since the aperture is constant. It's been a while since I reviewed it but I don't remember any excessive focus breathing
@@PeteCocoPhoto I got the lens , yes aperture is constant but if you zoom in/out there is a significant light change, and it loses focus completely on XT5
Thanks for the review! I've been asked to shoot more real estate photography. I have the Sigma 16mm f1.4 which is great, but would sometimes like to go wider.
This lens could be what I'm looking for.
I get the desire for an aperture ring, but it's not a deal breaker for me. When I'm working fast (eg shooting a wedding or event), I use a command dial even if the lens has an aperture ring. When working slower, I like the experience of using an aperture ring, but since I'm used to using a command dial, it's not that annoying when a lens doesn't have it.
Thanks for watching! I agree that using the command dials is faster on the fly than the manual dials.

Great video. How do you find the Sigma lenses (10-18 and 18-50) perform on the 40mp fuji camera as compared to say the X-T4? Do they work well on the more demanding newer sensors? Thanks.
Thank you! There is a ton of controversy about this, so you will find a variety of opinions. Practically speaking, the lenses perform very well on the 40mp sensor, but in my testing they are not quite as good as the Fuji lenses I've used. I found the 18-50 however to be very good in terms of image quality and performance, one of the best they offer right now. I wouldn't get too hung up on the 40mp sensor and optimized lens issue. It's a rabbit hole haha
Dustin Abbott has several reviews using a 40mp sensor and talks specifically about this. TLR: These lenses are fantastic
In the studio shots at 15:35 you are zooming into the corners of the test chart -- but that's not the actual corners of the photo, because you didn't cover the entire frame with the chart. Instad, the corners on the chart are placed closer to mid-frame than the actual corners of the frame.
Good point, thanks!
Thinking about replacing my Fuji 10-24 WR 🤔
I don’t know what to do 🙀
This is a great option as well as the Tamron 11-20mm. I reviewed that one as well: studio.ruclips.net/user/videojjZCTG0bDJw/edit
A metal proper weather sealed change out to an equal image quality that should be stopped down to 5.6 to get sharp which is not properly weather sealed. Also lack a lot of reach in the long end. I would think twice about that. If you want more light gathering just get a prime in the focal lenght you use most.
If I can get a used Fuji 10-24 f4 WR for $599, which one should I get?
Both are great, the advantage of the Sigma is it's faster at f/2.8.
Is this good for landscapes?!
Sure!
B&H had a $50 off coupon and I managed to grab this for $549!
Awesome!
Using DR400 will have more dynamic range even in raw.
Thanks for the tip!
@@PeteCocoPhoto no problem. Pal2tech said that though, I actually doubt it at first. 😄
