Thanks so much for featuring Felix Cavaliere and the Rascals on your show. Being born in 1952 and having grown up with them in the 60’s was such a memorable time for music and they were such a big part of that time. Thanks and I hope you’ll bring Felix back for more Rascals songs “I’ve Lonely Too Long”, “Groovin’”, “A Beautiful Morning”, “I Ain’t Gonna Eat My Heart Out Anymore”, “People Got To Be Free” are just a few of their greats. Thanks again for your appreciation for the music and for allowing us to reminisce with you. God bless you both and your beautiful family, too.
You're speaking for me too right down to birth year 1952! The Rascals string of hits you listed were the most impressive of the era, and Felix Cavaliere was THE MAN! So great to see him doing so well in 2024. Good Lovin' was the hottest 45 rpm in my collection - so hot I had to keep it in the refrigerator. I'm going to browse the vinyl collection to find their greatest hits album - I could listen to it online but I want to look at that big ancient album cover. Thanks to Jay and Amber for bringing on the great Felix to tell the stories and describe the great musical times of the mid-60s!
I can't believe you were able to interview Felix Cavaliere! The Young Rascals, and then later just The Rascals, had some HUGE hits in the 60's. Nice interview!
Don't miss the Rascals 1967 hit "How Can I Be Sure". Beautiful song, beautifully done. Also the first hit I can remember that featured an accordion part.
"It's a Beautiful Morning" I was in Vietnam when I first heard that. Thanks Felix and the Rascals, MANY great songs. "I've Been Lonely Too Long"!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Soul from White guys! What a Band!
SUCH A GREAT, MOVIN' TUNE!!! LOVE THE YOUNG RASCALS!!! Felix's KEYS!!! WOOOHOOOOOOO!!! KILLED IT!!! Thanks, Felix, and Thanks, Amber & Jay!! One of my FAVORITE TUNES of theirs!! HUGS!!
I absolutely love that you guys started interviewing these wonderful artists from the 1960's... It's just like Susan cowsill told you... You guys with your channel are exposing this generation to music they otherwise would not have heard... These people that you're interviewing are some of my musical heroes and it's just so wonderful to see them on your channel talking about their journey and bringing a song you haven't heard yet hopefully... Good stuff guys... Keep being awesome !!!...
Did you ever think when you started reacting to music 3 years ago that you would get the opportunity to interview amazing artists like Felix? It is has been a wonderful journey watching you and Amber grow. We are looking forward to seeing what you have store in the future. You definitely put a smile on my face today. Thank you for all the hard work in putting out all these videos! 😃
I just turned 66 yrs., But can you believe how much these kids have missed out as far as music is concerned?? Rock and R&B it's gone😲 I never thought that day would come., at least not in our lifetime😢😭😭 Today's music make no sense.
The Rascals were the pinnacle of rockin' blue-eyed soul, and Felix's impassioned vocals and keyboard playing were MAJOR reasons why. So good to see him, and so glad you got the chance to speak with him.
I never thought I would see the day that Soupy Sales would be part of one of your shows! You just hit the big time in my book. If I had a pie I would throw it in Robs face. 😃 Great job. My wife says I have a strange sense of humor. Soupy was known for throwing pies into guests faces.
Outstanding choice! And what a pleasure to hear Felix reminiscing about the sixties. The organ solo is twenty seconds of the most soul shaking, spine tingling keyboard work ever transferred to vinyl. Well done!
Jay & Amber: Great interview, guys! Love Felix and The Rascals. Check out the Rascals record Good Lovin', too. It's great. You simply gotta dance when you hear it.
wow what a treat ~ Dino Danelli amazing drummer ~ im 68 & about a year ago made myself familiar with this band as i was too young at the tyme to put it all together ~ my constant comment as i did so was ' they wrote THAT song too ? ' ~ & my appreciation for felix & dino & the whole band is somewhere outta site ~ buying records were events ~ saving up allowances for the chosen song ~ picking out a groovy shopping outfit ~ planning the trip ~ i remember to this day buying my first 45 record ~ it was an event ~ riding my bicycle to woolco with my best friend ~ we were both wearing fishnet stockings ~ i was 10 in 1966 ~ my first record was ' windy ' by the association ~ i did listen to the young rascals of course & loved their music but as i said , i just didnt connect any dots ~ the good songs were the good songs & in grade 5 thats all i knew ~ good songs for dancing ~ me & my friend would practice go go dance routines to the music of our records ~ one of the great things about the internet is now i can go back & see what these bands of my childhood youth etc looked & sounded like live ~ especially as i was way too young to go to concerts ~ plus i really really love what you guys are doing jay & amber ~ seeing you checking out & enjoying great music ~ you help me to appreciate it even more & i feel like im partying there with you ~
Felix won't remember but at the Brooklyn Seaside concerts a few years back I saw him perform and when he came into the audience I asked if I could kiss him (on the cheek) and he obliged. It was in memory of my late mother who bought every single one of their 45's back in the day when they released hit after hit. She even found a copy of Groovin' in Spanish and Italian and I still have them all.
In early '69 I was working for a management company, I had to go to the airport and meet the Rascals. Get their gear and transport to their venue and make sure they made their connections to their hotel. They looked very different from your video. Wearing very hip clothes. Waiting at the gate I first see Eddie and Gene. Then heartbreaker, Dino. Last was Felix and my mind froze for a second. He had shoulder length hair and a full long beard. He was thin and olive skinned Italian. He looked just like the pictures of Jesus I had seen all my life. lol You might not have noticed but he as singing lead, playing lead, and playing bass with his feet on his big Hammond B3 Organ. The Rascals, Golden Earring, and Leon Russell were the best 'real' 'nice' musicians I've ever met.
Felix Cavaliere, fantastic! Great stories and wonderful guest. I grew up listening to The Young Rascals/Rascals. Good Lovin' always got us moving. Looking forward to see what he brings next time.
Felix is amazing! I had the pleasure of meeting him in a music store in CT. He was friends with a band-mate of mine. I always loved his voice and his writing. The Rascals had lots of hits. Check out "Lonely Too Long", "People Gotta Be Free", "You Better Run", to name only a few. Thank you for having him on!
Soupy Sales was, and remains, a beloved figure in Detroit, my hometown. As a kid in the 50's & 60's, I watched his shows every chance I got, even when he moved to the coast.
Those guys were so great. One thing about the Sullivan show tapes of The Rascals is they were taped playing live, not miming to the record. I hope you were watching Dino Danelli, one of the best drummers of 60s rock. A real showman, he'd played jazz before joining The Rascals. And Felix, what a voice. You can see that cap start to slide off as he gets more into it. Can't wait to see what he has next.
Living in the modern fragmented world, the kids wouldn't know what an appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show meant to a career. This was the biggest thing you could do in entertainment. Comedians who may have already been well known before their first Sullivan appearance could often double or triple their appearance fees afterwards. We measure Elvis and the Beatles by their first Sullivan appearance. It was like strapping a rocket to your a$$, up you went.
For those of us who remember, they went from The Young Rascals to The Rascals. Glad to see Mr. Cavaliere is still around and still making music. Sadly, he hinted at the difficulty of keeping that shared joy of being bandmates alive. I guess we have to just be thankful that it happens at all.
OMG Felix Cavaliere ! New Jersey hall of fame , right up there with Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen , the four seasons and Bon Jovi .. And Soupy Sales my god what memories growing up in the 60,s . I’m listening to Felix ‘ new album now on Spotify and I’m surprised how good he still sounds at this age ! Nice album very soulful.
Young Rascals and Lovin' Spoonful were my favorite groups when I was in high school. People thought I was 'out of it', because I really wasn't into the Beatles or the Rolling Sones much. I loved R&B, Motown, and Soul, no matter what group it was. Especially, I thought the Rascals' songs were more along those lines than more mainstream pop.
Brilliant, and not just Felix (although he was a terrific songwriter as well as singer and organist). They were not a guitar band, but they had one of the absolute best rhythm guitarists in Gene Cornish. Eddie Brigati was a terrific co-lead vocalist with great stage presence. And the late Dino Daneli was an incredible drummer which you can get a taste of from this clip. Well done, Jay and Amber!!
My favorite group!!! The first band of white guys that sounded like they came from Motown. Their base was Long Island and way back they played at one of my college’s dorm parties!!
Great interview yes The Rascals had great songs with energy. Tom Hanks did a movie called Joe Verses The Volcano and I remember a memorable scene featuring Good Lovin.
Great group. It's intriguing learning about the group and how they got their name. The song radiates happiness. Thank you and Felix for a trip back to the good times of the past.
Great song! Whenever or wherever it was played it would always liven the mood and break out into spontaneous singing and dancing. Great story about the name. I remember watching Soupy Sales
Soupy was always trying to slip something past the network censors who were determined to keep everything squeeky clean. This one time he snuck one right by them. He was doing a routing with a puppet on learning letters. Soupy would hold up an A and the puppet would say A, he would hold up a G and the puppet would say G. He would hold up an F and the puppet would say K. Soupy would give a confused look and hold up an S and the puppet would say S. So Soupy would hold up the F again and the puppet would say K. Then with a confused look, Soupy says "How come every time I see F you see K. The censors never caught it and it aired.
This is fantastic seeing this interview. The great Felix Cavaliere from The Young Rascals. Tbh...I did watch Soupy Sales...geez what a character he was. Fabulous tunes from Felix and the boys. Great times...🎤🎶🫶
Great post guys, I remember being a young teen and listening to The Young Rascals and loving their music, along with all the other awesome bands of the time. As they say... those were the days.
Great classic song!! My oldies station still plays it!! Yes I know who “Soupy Sales” is!! I grew up watching him!! He usually ended up getting a pie in the face !! I also remember White Fang!! Felix is very interesting, I’d love to hear more of his stories!! A lot of history from the time I was growing up. Felix is still out touring with other guys from the 60s!! On “The Happy Together Tour”now and then . I hear it advertised on the oldies radio station!!
Thanks for having Felix Cavelleri on your show. I got to see him perform several years ago. Always loved the music of the Rascals. My favorite song from them is A Girl Like You. Keep up the great work.
It's really to your credit, guys, that you found a way to keep your channel from falling into boredom and obscurity like so many other reaction channels. I have been a fan since the beginning, but you hit a new high mark with this episode. This interview with Felix was just so much fun. I grew up on his music. He grew up just down the road from where I live now (in New Rochelle, where he came to buy records). It is all so relatable. You brought him back to some of the best times in his life and it radiated out of my monitor like golden sunshine. You two were captivated by it too. It was obvious. You close your episode by talking about being kind and adding light to someone else's life. Well, you certainly walk that walk. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished...not for the fame or the ability to meet famous people...but for the joy you bring to so many through your programs. Keep up the good work. You are a blessing to all.
Way overdue and appreciated. More Rascals and 60s please! "A Girl Like You" is an awesome horn tune. Soupy was huge, "Happy Days Are Here Again", and New Rochelle, home of Don McLean.
I'm 67, grew up in Memphis so I had to love music so I did and I do. Love The Rascals, Felix, Eddie and the whole group. They were a perfect blend to other music❤
♥♥♥ I was 15 going on 25 when I was rockin' to this! Thank you Felix Cavaliere. It feels great to have the opportunity to tell my music heroes how thankful I am for the music that helped shape my world.
I am thrilled that you can host the legends! Felix had a beautiful voice! Please review “How Can I Be Sure” I love Felix’s recollection of Channel 5. Even though the station was and still is from NYC, it really was a home grown phenomenon. If it wasnt for Channel 5 and home grown influences like Scepter’ Atlantic, and Roulette Records, we would have never been enriched by the likes of Felix, Carole King, Dionne Warwick, and Tommy James. Channel 5 signed over as a Fox affiliate in the network’s very beginning (1987).
Hey, what a cool video. Great to see Felix Cavaliere is still alive and kicking’, and still making music. Great interview and great song, one of the best rockin’ songs. Really liked how you dropped in videos of the things that Felix mentioned like Soupy Sales, “Do the Mouse”, the Olympics with Billy Preston, which gave instant context to what he was saying. Good job!
Its great to see Felix Cavaliere on your RUclips video. I used to play Good Lovin' in bar bands in the early 1980s. Yes, we got dancers when we played it. I remember as a grade school student seeing the Rascals on TV. They were a big deal. Thanks for the reaction and interview!
What a Wonderful Group you guys were and all those tunes you recorded . Our Band always included your songs in our sets in the 1960's - Thank You Felix brings back some good memories
Really enjoyed this and I appreciate the interview with legends like Felix. I grew up in the Lodi, New Jersey area and I remember the Rascals very well. Before the Rascals, Felix was in Joey D's band the star lighters, and they would sometimes play outside Joey's house for the Lodi locals. The Soupy Sales show was also a daily must for me growing up with his brand of offbeat comedy. I knew he helped a lot of the local bands, but I never knew he came up with the name for the Rascals. I always love your reactions and your passion for the music of the 60's and 70's; keep rockin'!!!
Love it❤They were so good and pretty cute 😍That's cool that Felix has a new album.❤❤❤❤🎉 Felix has an awesome voice 😮 This song was a little before I was born but I did hear it at some time in my life because it was so popular for so long. Great song!!! I hope you read all the awesome comments about you and the band, Felix❣️❣️
At one point back in the day The Rascals had a string of hits that just couldn't be beat. Felix is a legend up in the New York, New Jersy area for sure. Great video Jay and Amber.
I don't know how you came about getting Felix today but it was a great idea and made for an incredible show. The Young Rascals showed us what good, good feeling, rock & roll was.
ROB SQUAD, I had to stop only two and a half minutes in to make this comment because Felix mentioned Soupy Sales and being someone that was born in 1957, I definitely remember Soupy sales on television in the early 60s!! He had a puppet that he called White Fang!! It actually scared me as a child, the way that he would make it talk!! IT'S something you have to look up because I could NEVER describe it!! But for some reason it scared me😮😮 But for the most part I loved Soupy!! ❤❤❤❤
I saw Felix at the Performing Arts Center in NJ in 2009 as a 27 year old and honestly didn’t know who it was. But as soon as the music started, I was amazed at how many songs I recognized. Haven’t forgotten his name since that night!
I've been a fan since they were the band at a college dance I went to in the '60s. They weren't famous yet but they were so amazing we all thought they were going to make it big - and they did! 🤩 Great interview with Felix.
My mom had this song on a record. I played it over and over and over as a child. I loved this song. If I jumped around too much I’d made the record skip. Thanks for this one. Memories. ❤
What a rare treat to see Mr. Cavaliere on your show. What a legendary talent. 😎🔥
Felix and Soupy Sales, you 2 are giving this 70 year old flashbacks to my youth
Dino Danelli was a beast on drums!! One of the greatest of all time. The Young Rascals were so good live.
This is the definition of 60s Classic Rock. I love these guys, and so do millions of us in our 60s, 70,s and even 80s. Felix is a great artist.
And early 50’s!! lol. I love this song
I was born in 1952 as well and was in Passaic High School in NJ listening to The Rascals and digging all that blue eyed soul!
@@CarolynStewart-v5q Born 1949 here and loved them too
You're speaking for me too right down to birth year 1952!

Monumental conversation, thank you all three!!!!! And that was a live audio track, Felix was playing bass on the Hammond foot pedals! Outrageous!
HUGS!!
You guys got to talk to a legend! Good luck on the continuance of your amazing career, Felix!

I have watched Rob Squad from the start, and love it.
These interview episodes are spot on.
Would John Fogerty be in your future? Great job guys.

@empire7179 I agree! My grandchildren grew up with Grandma listening to our 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s music. They loved it! 😍
The Rascals were the pinnacle of rockin' blue-eyed soul, and Felix's impassioned vocals and keyboard playing were MAJOR reasons why. So good to see him, and so glad you got the chance to speak with him.
I remember groovin' to "Groovin' " by The Young Rascals.
Oh yes, I forgot about this song, I loved it so much!👍💜☮️

✌️😁❤️👍🎶🎶🎶
Wow J&A! Felix Cavaliere! You got classic 60's music royalty on right there!
Knocked it outta the park👏💯
Young Rascals and Lovin' Spoonful were my favorite groups when I was in high school. People thought I was 'out of it', because I really wasn't into the Beatles or the Rolling Sones much. You are exactly right on all counts. Gene had great chops, made every note/chord count. Wrote a great memoir on the Rascals, too, on Amazon.
Felix enrolled at Syracuse University as a pre-med major but left to pursue music. Looks great for almost 82
My favorite group!!! The first band of white guys that sounded like they came from Motown. Their base was Long Island and way back they played at one of my college’s dorm parties!!

Wow. Never heard the Soupy Sales story before, and I've been a lifelong fan of the Rascals!
Great post guys, I remember being a young teen and listening to The Young Rascals and loving their music, along with all the other awesome bands of the time. As they say... those were the days.
Amazing to see him on your channel. Got to see him perform live a few years ago. Awesome performer, amazing voice.
I'm jealous!
Great classic song!!

When good lovin came out no one had there back up against the wall. Btw... nice to hear Soupy mentioned, loved him
Way overdue and appreciated. More Rascals and 60s please! "A Girl Like You" is an awesome horn tune.
Soupy was huge, "Happy Days Are Here Again", and New Rochelle, home of Don McLean.
What a cool guest. He's part of the music of my youth and wonderful memories. Great song too.
I love this song so much -- so psyched to hear you reacting to it! Can't go wrong with the Rascals.
Loved the Rascals!
I’ve watched this video a thousand times….. just to watch the drummer!!! 😁
Good job!
Oh Felix!!!! I loved you & Dino and Eddie and Gene!!!I saw you live MANY years ago in Columbia Maryland! You all were the BEST!
Great interview! Felix had some fun and Interesting stories The video was awesome too. Good Lovin' is one of my all time favorite songs.
FELIX!!!!!!!!! HOLY CRAP!
WOW!!!!!! He was bad on that organ!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
60s classic rock is awesome
The best of the best!
Thanks for sharing. Super show.
This was a GRRRREAT interview! Felix is indeed a GROOVY cat! Pun unintended! 😉
Mob Squad Reactions are unique. Luv you.
This particular appearance came on March 20, 1966.
I am 71 years old. Thoroughly enjoyed this interview. I just have to share this reaction show of yours. It is a must 1960s reaction watch.
Thanx you guys. I hope your gettin a feel of the '60's. Be Safe, and Prosper on RUclips!
What a Wonderful Group you guys were and all those tunes you recorded . Our Band always included your songs in our sets in the 1960's - Thank You Felix brings back some good memories
OMFREAKIN GODDDDDDDD ITS FELIX CAVALIER!!!!’n
This brings back such good memories! I still remember all the words and am sitting here dancing in my chair!😁
So awesome to see Felix Cavaliers on you guys channel. Love the Rascals. Saw them in concert many years ago with the Beach Boys.
Young Rascals was my 1st concert. I was in 7th grade, wore a dress. ❤😂
This is a giant in music that you have on! Thank you!
Great video. A lot of good music and history. Love the RASCALS. Also watched and liked Soupy Sales.
Keep this grove happening. Pure pleasure. Thank you. ❤
ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS OF ALL TIME
ROB SQUAD, I had to stop only two and a half minutes in to make this comment because Felix mentioned Soupy Sales and being someone that was born in 1957, I definitely remember Soupy sales on television in the early 60s!! He had a puppet that he called White Fang!! It actually scared me as a child, the way that he would make it talk!! IT'S something you have to look up because I could NEVER describe it!! But for some reason it scared me😮😮
But for the most part I loved Soupy!!
❤❤❤❤
I saw Felix at the Performing Arts Center in NJ in 2009 as a 27 year old and honestly didn’t know who it was. But as soon as the music started, I was amazed at how many songs I recognized. Haven’t forgotten his name since that night!
Great stories. Great music. Great singing. Great band. A gift to hear Felix. RIP drummer Dino Danelli.
Great song! Yeah, Felix!!
I like this guy!!
I have one we played at our high school variety show 1967, that I loved, "You ain't gonna eat out my heart anymore."
We’re not worthy!!! Felix takes me back to 60’s NY.
I've been a fan since they were the band at a college dance I went to in the '60s. They weren't famous yet but they were so amazing we all thought they were going to make it big - and they did! 🤩 Great interview with Felix.
??@TheRobSquad_HeIpline
Great memories with this group. I was in Jr High and High School during their reign. Love this group!
ONe of the few groups to write and feature the drummer...RIP Dino Dinelli.....Great interview.
Really enjoyed the story. Keep these coming. Soooo entertaining.
Can't wait to hear his album!!
My mom had this song on a record. I played it over and over and over as a child. I loved this song. If I jumped around too much I’d made the record skip. Thanks for this one. Memories. ❤
Saw felix with ringos all star band that was was a great concert.
