- I have bought key date raw coins but not to have them graded this was my
First attempt at buying them to have them graded. Let's see what happens there are some expensive coins at least for me.

Yes that one hurt a little had others check it no one can see that it was cleaned. So I sent email to PGC. Doubt I will get explanation but never hurts to try. Thanks
Great video! I hate that the 85 CC got a details grade. However, it is still a great investment coin and quite attractive. We've all been there before. Try not to let it bother you too much. Looking forward to the next video!

That was fun, if a little painful to watch.. I have to give you a ton of credit for having the cahonnes to reveal the grades live, knowing it could be exhilaration or disappointment.. Obviously the “cleaned” coin was a gut punch but you did get two MS 63’s..!! Keep on stackin..!!

Before I sent it I had my LCS look at it and he has over 40 years and thought it was a solid 63 could be 64.
I would get a second opinion on the one they said was clean like your LCS or a coin show..congratulations Garrett😀

Well I didn't see that coming. That sure didn't look cleaned to me 🤔. But I'm not an expert. Hopefully your LCS can shed a little light on it. I'd be interested in what they have to say. The other 2 Morgan's did great and the trade dollar got a decent grade as well. Keep your chin up Morgan. We believe in you. 👍💯 Super congrats to Garrett on two wins in a row 🎉🎊.

Yes it did look good and I had dealers with a lot of experience look at them. No that it was cleaned.
Hi Robert Scagnelli! Yes, it's very difficult to buy raw coins and have them graded! I've done it, but not so much anymore! Unfortunately there are multiple ways to clean a coin, so it can be hard to tell at times! 😎
The ‘cleaned’ coin would be a great candidate for a crack out and resubmit but definitely have someone check it out first
Yes I had an LCS owner with over 40 years look at it. He thought a 63 with a possibility of 64. I had a collector with a lot of years of sending them in thought a 64. Nobody thought cleaned. I will think about cracking it out. Thanks for the input.

Cleaned could mean, someone dipped it and they see residue from that..
Could Crack it and send to NGC..., but it still has value my friend..

Yes you are correct it is a beautiful coin and you were getting my real emotions at the time. It really hurt at first but as time passes and you have time to reflect you come around. But I do wish they would put down what they saw. I took it to some experts and they do not see it. Thank you for the encouraging words.

Oh yes sir, I get it..
As soon as I seen the back that said, Genuine, un-gradable.. I knew disappointment was coming, and I could feel it in my own gut!..
However, the fact is, It's a gorgeous coin, and they gave it UNC Details, and it still holds value.
Obviously not what you want, or hoped for, but...
PCGS can make mistakes, in my opinion. Graders can be "wrong".
Also, I wonder, can you send it in for "restoration", or is that for environmental damage and whatnot, idk. Just a thought.

Yes it hurts. But they tell you nothing on how they determine what grade. It would be nice on a “ cleaned “ coin they would point out what they used to determined it was cleaned. Especially this coin the LCS guy thought it was a good coin and he has 40+ years. Oh well. Thanks for the comment

Those were nice coins you sent in - sorry about the one - if it's a big enough profit to do it, I'd look at breaking it out and sending it to NGC - after you talk to your LCS for his thoughts. I see this is a week old so you've probably already figured it out. I'll go catch up on your videos and see! Thank you for sharing - I really enjoy your videos!
Everybody that has seen the coin cannot figure out why it came back cleaned. And they all are experienced dealers and collectors. So yes I am thinking about breaking it out and resubmit to NGC. But also I have been told that it does not lower the price that much because it is a semi key date CC and the low grades are still worth a good amount. It will be a while before I do anything.
HI Sac Town Aimee! Yes, nice grading reveal! And, good advice to crack it out, if it can get a better grade from NGC! 😎 As you know, grading can be tricky!

I guess a almost uncirculated coin that has the smallest amount of circulation signs, but is lower than choice will be 50-52. AU 58 would have to be superb gem almost uncirculated, which is not going to happen very often

All was good except the cleaned coin. Everybody who has seen it cannot believe it is cleaned. But really does not hurt value to much. It is a semi key date CC

Sorry about the Cleaned one but you can see the micro abrasions all over the obverse. It is hard to tell in many cases but I saw them as soon as you flipped.

Heart break on the 1885. I think these grading companies are a bit harsh when saying so many coins are cleaned. All it takes is for someone to rub a coin once and PCGS gives it a thumbs down. But still an outstanding coin.

I've heard of people resubmitting coins to get a different grade but it will cost more money. Sorry that's bad luck

If a coin is cleaned, they don't put a grade on it? I just saw cleaned unc.
You are correct they do not grade it. Other than but original coin. It would help some if they put a grade on it.
What are some signs to look for to determine if a coin been cleaned?
Harsh cleaning will show scratches. What they are looking for is cleaning will remove the original luster

Thank you. Worst part is I had a few long time dealers look at it before submitting they all thought it was a 63 to 64 no one said cleaned.
Raw coins are a rip off, I'm convinced many dealers knowingly sell problem coins raw, but pricing as if they are straight graded coins. If i buy raw coins, I beat the hell out of the dealer and I'm happy to walk away if I can't get a deal.
A reputable dealer I do not think sale problem coins without saying something knowingly. I bought the coins I had graded from a dealer. I took the coins in afterwards and he refunded the money from what he sold to me for and what they graded at. I get what you are saying that raw coins should be priced less because you are taking the risk.
@@morganssilvertreasure You have a good dealer for sure since he treated you so well, obviously has integrity. That said, he may just be incompetent or doesn't understand grading as much as he should.

The Radom comment picker is from whichever video I pick. It always has been the last video. On the coin I have seen them from $10-$20 so the cleaning is up to you.
Sometimes it’s just not worth getting coins graded.

Why would someone clean an uncirculated coin?
I do no know it would be nice if they would write something out to let you know what they see.
Hi Yhenne Ambon! Right! It's usually so that they can remove the natural toning that takes place over years of time, because they like their coins shinny! 😎Many of them just simply don't know how valuable these coins can be. For example an 1883-CC Morgan vs. an 1893-CC Morgan look very similar, but hold very different values, due to their rarity.
Sorry I left out most of the time they just do not know better
If it's pcgs be prepared for a few cleaned, questionable colors, unfortunately they have to keep populations low on certain coins, whilst ngc does it too not nearly as much

@@morganssilvertreasure aye I've had several "cleaned " coins come back from pcgs I've cracked out and sent to ngc and gotten straight grades on , like I said it's about population control and keeping values on certain coins extremely high
