  • Hello lovely people
I thought I'd talk a bit about Mana and Moi meme motie or Moi même motié to be more proper.
Mana is a prolific figure in the lolita community arguably only rivalling in popularity with Misako.
He's been in a bunch of bands and has a compelling person but what is he all about? And how did he become such a legend in the lolita community.. What's an egl? What's an ega? All will be answered in this video.
If you're still here please comment your opinion on black cats. I personally think they're very good as cats tend to be.
    ok byeeeeeeee

Oh my can I just compliment your lolita attire?!!
The blouse T_T The waist! I usually only listen to Malice Mizer's music without watching any fan videos about the members, but I couldn't ignore this video. Came for the thumbnail, stayed for the content.

MMM was purchased by Wunderwelt a few years ago and has significantly gone down in quality, to the point where Atelier Pierrot retail staff have to perform their own quality control and send things back for obvious errors. it's really sad to see, and it's only the label, the cult of Mana, and the international market (specifically the Chinese market) who are keeping things afloat. Wunderwelt also tries to buy secondhand MMM in Japan as well in order to further control the prices, which is why they often charge as much as new

MmM used to be known for having v small sizes but since a few years they're making larger sizes so I could fit in it ! I thought it would never be possible but I fit in one of their JSK that is not even the largest size ! they add shirring in some pieces too (which AP rarely does), so I think that's how they're trying to be "inclusive" (that and releasing "lifestyle" items such as pajamas, slippers, cutlery, teasets and hoodies o_o ah XD ) even if there's a lot more to do to truly be, I remember Mana said a few years ago that he tries to make MmM more accessible in the way that it's for everyone...obviously there's still some improvement to achieve but the intention is there...and speaking of this Atelier Pierrot is a brand that I found more inclusive!

I know this is a reupload but I wanted to add, just in case you hadn't heard, Victorian Maiden rose from the dead and have even released their popular Classical Doll OP in multiple sizes, and have increased the bust size for some of their latest releases as well.

It is probably a hard pill to swallow for some that japanese lolita brands don't seem to care about representation/diversity for its own sake. But they're usually happy to see and include (in their shows and stores) anyone who dresses well in their items. There've been a few brands that included poc lolitas in their shows abroad. AP has a few plus sized lolitas working in their stores. Nearly every brand has plus sized and older office staff wearing lolita.
Edit to add; as for the comment that brands that sell to a world wide audience should include a lot more diversity in their advertising, I think you have to understand that the main demographic for lolita brands is japanese lolitas, chinese lolitas and to a lesser extent other south east asian lolitas. The western market is just a drop in the bucket for them. They might make bigger sizes (meta, atepie, MAM, etc) but that is not just for the western market. It doesn't make a lot of business sense for japanese lolita brands to use black models for their promotional materials in japan.
You should view these brands as japanese brands that also sell to customers living abroad through mail order and might even have a store outside of japan, not as international brands.
As for Mana, I thought he was weird back in 2003 and I still do. I listened to his music in the 2000s on my mp3 player but usually preferred other lolita adjacent music (for example Tommy Heavenly/February). I respect him as a fashion designer, for his designs, for popularizing gothic lolita and for describing the style as equal parts innocent and rotten. But other than that he's just a crossdressing band man to me. He has often mentioned maidenhood in his writings which is a bit sus for a grown man to reference so often. But I still think he's better than Novala Takemoto, we can count ourselves lucky that Novala's middle school edgelord esque writing was translated into an actual enjoyable movie.
