- I cannot adequately express how frustrated I was getting with the city of Elantris and its apparent level of technology AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE COSMERE. Eventually I had to just accept it and move on.

I loved the "4500 years after the last desolation Szeth Son Son Vallano Truthless Of Shinnovar Wore White" moment
If you know, you know.
My head canon is that Nomad skips to the planet across from where Yumi takes place and causes the big event that Hoid mentions in Yumi. Thanks for the overview!
Ooh, interesting!
The titles of the Stormlight series form a Ketek, the Rosarian poem, of you just take the first letter of each word.
TWOK WOR O ROW KOWT
So, you can say Brandon kinda shot himself in the foot when he decided that.
Smarrrt. Now we gotta speculate what KOWT is. Or maybe KOW as Twok is also called WoK
@@snowdrop9810the rough title for now as far as I know is Knights of Wind and Truth
@@RookBoneI think the original tital 'Stones Unhallowed' sounds much better, but he's gotta get that ketek.
Also, I have a title suggestion, but I'm not sure it fits: 'Knights of Weathered Truth'. 'Wanton Truth' would also work if 'wanton' meant something different
Knights of the Wound Table!
Knights of Wind and Truth
I thought the most recent version of the future books plan was Mistborn 3.1, Sel 2, Mistborn 3.2, Sel 3, Mistborn 3.3. I could be misremembering though.
You are correct
Is that chronological order or release order? I thought that’s just the order he was going to release them in but that doesn’t mean the books are strictly in that order chronologically. I could definitely see it as more of a concurrency between the two series.
@@jacobgorman3260 I believe he is reforming to the sort of the video where he says that the next books being Written are Elantris 2 and 3 as you are correct
@@edwardguest1404 totally missed that, clicked off at the "thank you" part assuming there wouldn't be more substance
@@jacobgorman3260 ahha easily done!! Hope you have a great day
Congrats on 10K! You deserve it man!
Thank you!
Loving this! Pausing the video just to stare at the timeline in awe.

Steve your humor gets me. Love your stuff man
Thanks Kirby!
That Shaaaod got me lol
I think MB era 4 is probably the final cosmere timeline event. There's a theory that hoid is trying to Connect to all the shards which I subscribe to and clearly Yumi is his attempt to connect to Virtuosity and in Tress he finally Connects to devotion via gaining the powers of an elantrian. So if MB4 is the final conflict I think it'll be at the very end of the timeline
My brain was equating Mistborn Era 4 with the general space age; you are correct.
Isn't Mistborn Era 4 going to be the last point in the cosmere timeline?
Yep mistborn era 4 is the very end
My brain was equating Era 4 with the general space age. It's fixed in the timeline linked in the description.
I think MB era 4 is supposed to be last. Even after the secret projects

Yessssssssss I needed this
Happy to provide it!
"But before Labor Day" 😄
Szeth is nothing if not fashionable.
Would love to figure all this out reading on my own, but i just started the cosmere with elantris and mistborn first saga (it took me some time) and yet, it was only 5% of Brandon's books.
There's always another secret!
Thanks thanks and so many thanks ❤
You're welcome and welcome and even more welcome!
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
I think i remember Brandon saying that Sunlit Man is far in the Cosmere timeline, but not the farthest we have seen
Ooh, interesting. I'll have to hunt down that WoB.
So I just finished reading every piece of canon cosmere literature I could find but I don't remember reading anything about Odium going to Sel or some of the other background information you mentioned about the Shards. What book did you get this information from or are they just theories? I just wanna make sure I didn't miss anything. Thanks
I believe these are WoBs: bits of lore that Brandon has talked about when asked questions. I don't think Odium's activities are in any book outside of Stormlight
@@whyonthefall5373you’re probably mostly right about the WoBs but having just read Arcanum Unbounded I can say Odium is mentioned at least once in one of the Khriss essays
Previous to Stormlight coming out, it was only confirmed in interviews with Brandon. However, we get it officially stated in the epigraphs of...Oathbringer I believe.
I've only got tress, yumi, sunlit man, and Whitesands left to read. Then i have to wait around like everyone else
If you're needing books, I would totally recommend diving in to Sanderson's non-cosmere works!
Yumi and the Nightmare painter is my personal favorite book of all time. Love that book.
It is Very Good™
Wow, is that one of the very rare prints I did of the Santhid page for the 2017 Oathbringer release? The stock of those were lost after the show, so the only ones in the wild are the ones I sold that night! I have no idea how many got out there, but it's way less than the 50 numbered. Hold onto it! ;)
Ben!
Nope, it was a gift from my artist friend Nicki Parish; she did a charcoal sketch of it for me for Christmas several years ago.
Btw mistborn era 4 is based after the secret projects.
My brain was equating Era 4 with the general space age. It's fixed in the timeline linked in the description.
@@TheCosmerenaut hahaha easy to do tbf as often refered to as mistborn space age. Amazing time line thank you for it!!
So Shai and Kaise are over 1000 years old in the lost metal? I'm skeptical about where Elantris is on this list but other than that seems accurate.
Elantris has the least in it to help place it in context, and I actually put it later than that big ol' timeline spreadsheet says. But yeah, they're probably really old, at least relative to their birth. Probably haven't strictly experienced all those years though, as Brandon has confirmed that longevity through time dilation is a thing in the cosmere.
@@TheCosmerenaut I also have no idea if Brandon is gonna mess with relativity or what would be up with those "time dialations". Like it could be that they have experienced living for a shorter amount of time but if they returned to Elantris 1000 years would have passed. Super hard to know atm I'd say
I don't quite get this, is the time going paralel between thoa two lines? Or you just saying that Vivenna/Azure is several hundred years old in Oathbringer
Vivenna is several hundred years old in Oathbringer.
Is there anything that actually indicates which comes first between Tress and Yumi? Other than publish order?
Publication order is the bulk of it. It just feels further into the future to me. We'll find out once it comes out.
Hi. I'm a bit surprised with your estimation of 100 to 200 years between Mistborn Era 2 and 3.
I'm assuming a similar advancement in technology to ours(but slightly faster).
In Era 2, there's about be a new convertible model for cars which corespond to our 1930's-ish.
Considering the tensions between the nations in Era 2, the chronology seems to match well with ours.
My assumption is that there will be at most a 50 year gap before era 3, and characters like Marasi will still be around and playing background but crucial roles.
Fair point! Consider my stance revised!
Isn’t SP4 take place between SA eras 1 and 2?
The gap between Stormlight arcs is max 20 years, and I think the main character there has a lot more to go through than can happen in that time.
How do we know about the whole thing where elantrians abandoned elantris. Please explain
Brandon has said in interviews and Q&As that the city of Elantris predates the kingdom of Arelon by hundreds, if not over a thousand years. I don't think it's explicitly stated in the books, but the people of Arelon migrated to that area and found Elantris already built and abandoned.
wob.coppermind.net/events/275/#e7592
My only issue is, doesn't the events of elantris and storm light happen at the same time? Since the old elantrian was put in a portal and ended up in the storm light as a herald?
Brandon's probably moved Elantris up significantly at this point, though we won't know for sure until he releases the sequel. Originally though, Riino was just super old.
When does the sequel to sixth of the dusk take place?
Kingmaker? Probably within a year or two after the ending of Sixth of the Dusk.
@@TheCosmerenaut No, Kingmaker is not the Sixth of the Dusk sequel.
Kingmaker is an unrelated story that is *also* set on First of the Sun.
Brandon has done a reading of the first chapter of both books, so we know for a fact that they are completely unrelated stories. The Sixth of the Dusk sequel still has Sixth as the main character, and seems to deal with the immediate aftermath of the ending of the first novella. Meanwhile, despite being set on the same planet, the first chapter of Kingmaker has no reference to any of the events from First of the Sun. The main character of Kingmaker is not Sixth but rather a woman named Talaku.
Oh, I didn't realize those were different books! Thank you!
I disagree about Yumi being in the far future. I believe it's much closer than you'd think
You're probably right, but a guy can dream.
Just a bunch of normal words
Nothing to see here.
Would love to have you on my podcast and interview you about a topic you consider yourself a fan of and your experiences as a fan of it.
Come talk your favorite Cosmere story!
Let's figure something out!
Yea, I definitely won't watch this like 25 times
Thanks for the views! 😂
Brandon just said yumi was further than sunlit man in a live stream
Yup, this was before Brandon started dropping future cosmere clarifications all over the place.
SHAAAAAOD
Raoden come and we start to glow!
Wouldnt this timeline make characters like Shai insanely old? Like between 2000 to 1300 years old at the bare minimum? She appears in mistborn era 2, but to my knowledge has no way of sustaining herself for such a long period of time. Even the returned like Vasher are only in the hundreds of years. And no ability in the Sel magic system would prevent aging outside of being an Elantrian, which is a stamp she doesnt want to use.
In your original video you discount Elantris as a world the five scholars could have visited due to the Dor. But i dont see it as likely that a forger could make themselves age thousands of years with no issues in comparison to the Elantris/Emperors Soul stories taking place far later. Furthermore, the Dor seems to allow worldhopping done by Hoid, Galladon and Shai. So it might be part of the area around Sel making it more difficult or it spread through the entirety of the cognitive realm, only accessible through Sel and the stricter rules applying to its magic.
So worldhopping seems to work even with the Dor active. This would mean the two stories might be moved up the timeline to happen in between Mistborn era 1 and 2. I think general investure does boost lifespan and decreases aging on average, but not to that degree.
I would love to hear thoughts on this even if my comment is late as hell.
In the current timeline as we understand it, yes Shai and Codenames would be super old. Brandon has said he's probably changing where Elantris fits, moving it up significantly, but we're not going to get concrete info on that until Mistborn Era 3 comes out.
@@TheCosmerenaut Aah i see. I thought i missed some lore reason for Shai to be ancient. But im glad to hear that this is already known and will probably be accounted for.
Thank you!
I think I would have add another event in the timeline. Before joining Cultivation on Roshar, Honor was on his own planet (Ashen ?) in the same system, that eventually got destroyed because of spoilers.
Cultivation apparently spent a little time on Ashyn, but I don't think Honor ever did
@@reklessbravo2129 If I'm not mistaken it's the other way around. SPOILERS AHEAD
Cultivation was on Roshar with the listeners while Honor was on Ashyn with the humans who recklessly used a more potent version of Surgebinding until they basically destroyed their planet and they fled to Roshar. I think that's how the story goes, at leat that's how I recall it.
SPOILERS
Now that I think of it, maybe it was Odium who came with the refugees from Ashyn....
@@tithannisk7470 potential spoilers
Odium came to Roshar with the refugees from Ashyn, so it makes sense he would have spent time there.
I've double checked the Ashyn coppermind article, and they've linked a wob stating cultivation spent a little time there (and Ashyn's magic is apparently cultivation based, which does make sense for diseases giving you powers)
@@reklessbravo2129 yeah I checked the article too :) My bad. But the fact remains that the destruction of Ashyn seems imo important enough to be mentioned in the timeline.
I fully disagree with your hypotheses about the timeline for Mistborn eras 3 and 4. I think you are trying to conflate those technological advances of Earth (even which, we went from electricity to internet in far fewer than 200 years). If you recall, someone petitioned (I believe successfully) Harmony to aid in the science progress of a certain people. I think said people will be reaching era 3’s storyline within 40-50 years of the end of era 2.
You're absolutely correct. My brain was equating Space Age Mistborn with Era Four Mistborn, and those are not the same thing.
