To be fair, they had no way of knowing. If the national guard hadn't been rolling through they wouldnt have had a chance, and the deaths by mist creatures were anything but quick and painless. I guess the message is not to give up hope.

      @n7ast_  2 месяца назад +2

@@simonbarabash2151 its such a tricky one isnt it. You're right death by the creatures were anything but quick and the scale of the mist was uncertain whether it was ever going to stop. It just comes down to brilliant story telling of how our minds work in stress situations

    • @simonbarabash2151

@@n7ast_ Really what sets this apart from the average creature feature. The monsters are irrelevant except in the sense that they present a danger, much as the mist presents the unknown. How humans react to both is what the story is all about.
Another reason I love the ending. The monsters collectively seem so invincible. They kill one or two little ones but it doesn't seem to make a dent.
Then the tanks and soldiers roll through and you see they were nothing but animals, they had no chance in the long run. Its the lack of information that made it seem like they had consumed the world.

@@simonbarabash2151 i love the creatures in it Because they are very different and HUGE! And also differ from alot of so called 'typical' creatures.
And yeah the monsters are a threat but the 'real' issue here was how people couldnt work together theres always conflict and its very primal. Its like that great scene where thomas jane character was saying without order everyone is lost and will kill eachother for someone whos willing to give them a purpose or show them the way. It gives me 'the road' vibes which is a very good film

18:49 so tired of people acting like taping glass is stupid. 😮‍💨 if glass starts cracking, tape keeps it from flying into a bunch of shards.

@BlackavarWD tbf putting tape on it you would apply pressure which could make it worst 🤷🏼‍♂️ because you dont put tape on lightly i dont think.

that is and is not Clint Eastwood. That's Roland Deschain of the Line of Eld. He's the main character from the Dark Tower Series, which binds all of King's works together in his multiverse. Roland is partially inspired by Eastwood's Man with No Name character. He's a Gunslinger, a Knight on a quest to get to the Dark Tower and save all existence

I hope these "as we go" helps
    1. In context it is similar to what King did with "The Stand", except in this case it's monsters and not a virus.
    2. Jeffery DeMunn is known as a favorite of director Frank Darabont, who has cast him in all four of his films: "The Shawshank Redemption" (1994), "The Green Mile" (1999), and "The Mist" (2007). All King adaptations. He was also in what King himself says "Storm of the Century" was such a good screenplay that he adapted into a book.
    3. William Sadler also was in "Shawshank" and "The Green Mile".
    4. Frances Sternhagen was in "Misery" by King.
    5. Marcia Gay Harden kills it. 🤩 "My life for you." is also used in "The Stand"
6.King wanted to play the big guy that goes out with the rope around his waist "brass balls" but Darabont shot him down.
    7. This is not how the book ends. Darabont wanted this ending. King later said that as horrific that it is he likes it better. What makes this ending more devastating is he has to live with it the rest of his life 😭
    8. The picture of the cowboy is an Easter egg from King's "Dark Tower" series.
    9. The cool thing about this story is, since the creatures are from a different dimension, they could be anything.
    10. Stephen King. You're welcome.

@@williamjones6031 oh wow okay ill have to check out 'the stand' then because i love the premise of the film. And yes!! Of course JefferyDemunn was one of the guards on the mile! Green mile is one of my favourite films ever!
And dam i would have loved to see king do the rope scene 😂🙌🏼 . And thats really interesting they decided to go with a Completely different ending and id guess more rare for the case of the author liking it better! And yes marcia gay harden absolutely KILLED it! She was amazing. Thanks for the detailed comment! Appreciate it ❤️🙏🏼

Your comment about the tentacles seeming to think for themselves isn't too far fetched. The tentacles of an octopus each have a mini brain in them. Insane, isn't it? It's how they have such fine manipulation of them as well as how they can remove a limb and have it wriggle away as a distraction if attacked.
