Yes, it seems that nobody who has seen it wants to spoil the ending for others by talking about the plot, everyone wants to first time viewers to experience the shock of that revelation. Which is as it should be.
@justwondering5651 You can say that again. Only I got bad luck. On the night I went out to see the movie, I ran into some friends, and after I told them what I was going to watch, one of them blurted out, "Oh, that wasn't so good. I turned out Bruce Willis was already dead." It kinda ruined the experience the whole time I was in the theatre that night.
I remember seeing this in the theater and it got near the end and I was thinking, "Ok, so the kid is okay but his marriage still sucks and she's cheating on him" Ring drops. Out loud in theatre, "Oooooh fuuuuuu...." as it hit me what happened. In a film of amazing performances, my favorite is Kyra's dad. He gets the video and on his face you can see his loss and his love, slowly transforming in horror as he realized what had happening. The little shakes, the eyes. Masterful.
The guy who played Kyra's dad was my neighbor (when the film came out) and I didn't know he was even in the film. He is an excellent actor, mostly theater.
And then you see his wife in a red dress of all things for a funeral (which that color is used in the movie more then once and has meaning behind it) drawing attention to herself
And Vincent is also brilliantly acted. Donnie Wahlberg has undergone a major physical change for those few lines, losing a lot of weight to look like a man who has been tormented by something all his life. A lot of people didn't even recognize him in that role at first. He did a really great job and showed that even a small role can be so impactful.

He also wore the same clothes throughout the whole movie but he had a coat which hid the blood on his back. Something nobody notices while watching the film. Best ploy twist ever.
He died calmly and in his death was trying to convince his wife that he was okay. So as a ghost he also walked around like he was okay and had the same calm tone of voice as he did in his death and didn't appear as scary as the other ghosts because of it.
This little boy was an amazing actor so when people say it’s just a kid to justify bad acting I always refer to this movie. No excuse for bad acting kids when this boy did phenomenal
Another movie with an amazing performance by a young actor is "Empire of the Sun". A 12 year old Christian Bale is fantastic in a movie where he is on the screen about 95% of the time.
Kyra's mother most probably suffered from "Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another" (FDIA), also known as "Munchausen syndrome by proxy". It is a mental health disorder, in which a caregiver creates the appearance of - or even causes - health problems in another person, typically his or her child. This may include injuring the child or altering test samples. The caregiver then presents the person as being sick or injured. Permanent injury or death of the victim may occur as a result of their caregiver having the disorder. Kyra's mother's need for attention was pathological. She may or may not have meant to kill Kyra, as keeping attention on herself was the goal. She then started making her younger daughter ill, to keep the attention coming. The mother also wore bright red to her daughter's wake, to attract attention to herself.
@@Stogie2112 You are probably correct. I, and a lot of others, always assumed it was the wicked stepmother situation, as obviously it is never made clear in the film

15:30 what I don't get is that the ghost in the dungeon was saying “open the door" when the door was already open. And that looked like a small space, i don't see how a ghost could fit in there with Cole, unless there's an old room on the otherside of it
Wonderful reaction ladies! One of the best plot twists I've ever seen, and it took me completely by surprise the first time I saw it. But as much as I tear up watching this, watching you two crying made me cry even more. Sending hugs to help with the trauma! All three of the lead characters were absolutely amazing. Haley Joel Osmet was scary good as Cole. It was so easy to believe that he was actually experiencing everything that was happening to Cole because he acted the role so amazingly well. Toni Collette was absolutely top notch as Cole's mom. She was absolutely heart and soul invested in her role and she played it brilliantly. And Bruce Willis was absolutely great as Malcolm. None of them felt like they were acting. They all seemed to be living their 'real' lives. Stellar performances. And kudos as well to M Night Shyamalan who created a perfect storm of a movie with absolutely stellar writing and direction, plus a cameo as the emergency room doctor who had examined Cole. And I want to say that my favorite secondary character who doesn't get enough credit is Cole's teacher. Even though Cole told his secret and embarrassed him by making him stutter in class, the teacher still chose him to play the role of Arthur in the play at the end, relegating Tommy Thomasino to being the village idiot. 😀 I really think that the teacher, having stuttered and been made fun of when he was in school, understood how Cole felt and tried to put him in a position to feel better about himself and to be included and a part of the rest of the class, like when they all fell down and were laughing and having fun together after carrying King Arthur on their shoulders at the end of the play. I loved that the teacher did all he could to give Cole that experience. 🙂
Yeah, the positive relationship that grew between Cole and his teacher is such a nice detail. I'm not sure I've ever seen a reactor who noticed it or talked about it.
The best twist at the end is that it was a happy ending for all. Cole and his mother found peace and are now able to live without any fear. Anna found peace by accepting Malcolm's passing. She is now ready to live life again. Malcolm is at peace, as he accepted his death and is now ready to move on.....to somewhere.....😯
Bruce Willis has two other movies where he co-stars with a kid. "The Kid" by Disney where he visits the kid version of himself to change his adult self. Also"Mercury Rising" about an Autistic kid who cracks a government code hidden in a word puzzle magazine. The shadow government puts a hit out on the kid and Bruce Willis has to step in. "Mercury Rising" is my favorite of the three, I think you will like them. "Look Who's Talking" I might throw in there, Bruce Willis does the voice of the baby. Starring John Travolta, Chirsty Ally, and Bruce Willis.
Why the ending works SO well: Because we are SUPPOSED to be focused on Cole's problems and Malcolm trying to help Cole through those problems, only to find out that it was actually COLE that was helping Malcolm. Yet, seeing it after knowing the end... you can SEE everywhere that the ending was actually shown to you in ACTION before being explained.
I haven't seen this movie in a long while. I had even forgotten some things. It was a great joy to experience it again, with you two. Hoping you both have a wonderful week.❤
The best M. Night Shyamalan film. Nothing beats the gasps slowly going off around an otherwise whisper-quiet cinema as the penny drops in peoples' heads at or soon after the same time as the ring drops.
Everybody was cast so perfectly in this movie. Even the bridesmaid who was only in two short scenes. Even the Munchausen mom, who only needed to look guilty.
I recommend the movie Transcendence, a science fiction movie, with many stars, Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Paul Bettany, where artificial intelligence is brought together with quantum computers and present their possible potential, a topic that today becomes more than relevant.
I remember watching this movie in theaters. That ending absolutely blew me away! It’s such an amazing movie and definitely one that everyone should watch.
Same. This was one of those incredible moments to share at the theater. Hearing the audience collectively gasp when the ring hits the floor & with the sudden realization that Malcolm is a ghost... absolute chills.
First, I will say what I tell other reactors. For me personally that scene in the car when Cole tells his mom his secret is the most emotional scene of any movie for me. 2ed. If you want to react to a fantastic and super emotional movie staring this little boy, Pay it Forward is one of the best movies I have ever seen.
2:00 the best friends idea of romantic - with a good dose of funny in it 3:58 last time his wife spoke directly to him. 5:00 that's a very good observation, from both of you. 5:56 that's a very good question, Magy. 9:03 when you look back at this particular line, after you finish the movie, it gets that much more heartbreaking. 9:14 his wife doesn't respond, doesn't look at him, pays the tab herself and even when she says "Happy Anniversary" she does so looking to the side. 10:30 this is where the kid's mom first saw somethin is different but she didn't want to accept it or even consider the notion that her kid is actually talking to ghosts/spirits. 11:18 first time he doesn't confront his supposed "rival" for his wife's attention. 12:48 this is somethin he probably knows because one of the ghosts told him about it. 13:58 the first time we see his wife watching their wedding tape. 15:03 you're right about that, Magy, more than you know. It's a running joke in the doctors community that doctors themselves make the most fussy patients. 17:33 predicting the future with incredible accuracy as always, Magy 17:56 this right here - that's his reason for staying behind, not moving on. 18:59 you kinda expect him to say it but when he does, it still gives you the chills. 19:28 this line is incredibly important - "They don't know they're dead" 19:49 looking back at this moment - can you imagine how much this kid already trusts this random ghost, who has been trying to help him? Asking him to stay next to his bed until he falls asleep. 23:27 this is another very important line - "it gets cold" 25:05 this scene, showing us how the mother has flaws, she's human 25:50 and here, she shows just what a great mom she is - they fought before, minutes away, and she still allows him to stay with her in bed when she sees how scared he is. 27:32 second time he doesn't confront his wife, or his "rival" 29:34 they finally figured it out, both of them. Such a relief, when you see that exchange between them. 30:15 the third time he doesn't confront his "rival" 33:08 this was a bit too jumpscary but we have to give it to them, it stayed in theme with the previous ghost encounters. Just because the kid finally understands what he has to do, that doesn't make the ghosts any less scary. 36:00 what a heartfelt idea from the kid and such a heartbreaking realization right after - "I'm not gonna see you again, am I?" 37:00 this is probably one of the best parts about this movie - Cole finally confides in his mother and convinces her that he can actually see and communicate with ghosts. 39:00 no matter how many times you'll see this scene, it will always hit like a truck. The first time you're too shocked to process it but after you watch it a second time, it will hurt more and more. Thank you for the beautiful commentary and the emotional reaction ❤
Everyone talks about the plot twist, and for good reason, but IMO what makes this movie great is its focus on characters. Even knowing the reveal, the characters are so good that they make the movie worth revisiting. When I search for Sixth Sense clips on the internet, its usually not the twist I end up watching. The scenes where Cole opens up to his mother, Cole is talking to the dead girl's sister, Malcolm says goodbye, etc. are the ones that I tend to gravitate toward. IMO Shyamalan's golden trilogy is this, Unbreakable, and Signs for this very reason. They seem far more character-focused than anything I've seen from him since (though admittedly, I haven't seen anything recent).
I have watched this movie a bunch of times but I only just now made the connection about the magic trick where the penny. That is what they did with this movie! It is a hint about the writing process. The penny has to be in one hand the whole time, but tell the story so that from the audience's perspective they think something else is happening entirely.
I felt for Vincent even before everything was explained because of that actor’s performance. It’s easy to say therapy “doesn’t work out for everyone” but imagine being the person it didn’t work out for. And imagine the therapist who didn’t help you at all to be praised as a hero who saved children. Now that we know what Vincent went through, hopefully you feel for him by the end.
It just occured to me after all these years, why would Vincent think killing himself was a good idea? Now he'll be a ghost and probably haunt someone himself. Or he'll still be surrounded by scary ghosts.
M. Night Shaymalan is a genius with supernatural movies! He really immerses you with the characters and their circumstances. I knew this would really hit you girls in the emotions! The twist at the end is one of the best in the movie world! I would recommend watching Signs next. Another one of M. Night Shaymalan's supernatural thrillers with Mel Gibson. Thanks for sharing Magy and Laura! ❤💛
This movie never gets old. You realize so many things after seeing it a few times. Cole was terrified of Malcom at first, like all the other ghosts, but he knew Malcom was a good guy when he saw that he was able to come into the church. Anna could not get over Malcom's death because he was still there! "Everything will be different in the morning". There are so many little things....great movie!
Very mysteriously creepy yet hauntingly sweet movie as well. CLUE!: Every scene when the color RED is a hint that there is a ghost near or about to appear also when you see cold air from the breath. AS his first feature, this became the signature style of the Director and his absolute best compared to the rest to follow. The twist is well hidden yet it makes total "sense" when revealed. You need a strong 'sixth sense' to catch it! LOL
The patient that broke in at the beginning... played by Donnie Wahlberg. Mark Wahberg's brother and member of New Kids On The Block. lol What a performance.
This movie is great on the first watch, but is a very different and still great movie on a rewatch. And you do need to rewatch it. Also, Happy Birthday! Mine was last week.
Great reaction to a great movie. Some other movies by the same guy are: "Signs" (that you can watch anytime you like) and three movies to watch in right order "Unbreakable", "Split", "Mr. Glass"
The trick with any "rescue" personnel is to convince yourself that they were already lost -- the important thing is you were able to save the ones that you did. Of course, that's easier said than done...
@@danielduarte6802 It's not running away from reality; it's accepting reality. Some rescue personnel go in with the belief that everyone can be saved. This is untrue and it's terrible for their mental health because then everyone who's lost feels like their personal responsibility and failure. It's much more realistic and healthy to accept that you're only human, not a god, and that every individual you save is a victory -- each one an epic tragedy averted and therefore a life-changing success to celebrate.
@@danielduarte6802 What's wrong with it? It's the same idea, just worded differently: setting yourself up to celebrate the victories and not view everything else as a personal failure.
I was lucky enough to watch this on opening night at The Metreon in San Francisco. The twist was so mind-blowing; it made you want to go back and watch it a second time for all the little details that hint at what's really going on.
This is one of my all-time favourite movies of all time. Its very scary in parts and also very emotional. Incredibly performances by all main leading actors.
I've no idea why it is so enjoyable to see other people's minds blowing from the iconic twist in this classic but here I am again with all smiles. I wish I could wipe my personal hard drive and watch this movie again for the first time...
Great movie... one of my favorites, I remember watching this in the cinema when it was released in my country. I was a teenager, but it was an instant favorite to me.
The movie twist to end all movie twists! This is one of those films that makes you want to watch it all over again, as soon as it's finished. And, of course, every scene hits very different, the second time around!
The man in the bathroom was Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block. For me, it’s the best performance in the whole movie. He has less than 5 minutes of screen time, but it’s such a haunting performance. You hold your breath the whole time. Brilliant reaction, ladies.
I've seen a few reactions to this film...and this was the best, I have to say. I was laughing so hard at your jump scares. The Sixth Sense is from my childhood, when movies were beautiful...and the ending, till this day, always gets me. Btw, the lighter hair touched by an angel thing mentioned at 48:36, we have that saying in African culture as well, you did not imagine it lol.
I wish I had not watched this reaction [twice]. Now I am crying like a baby, and my nose is big and red. Seriously, this was a beautiful reaction. Subscribing now, because you kids were good together, and had an intelligent reaction. Thanks from Israel !
By the way, the half naked guy Vincent Gray in the bathroom opening scene was played by Donnie Wahlberg (from New kids on the block and also happens to be Mark Wahlberg's brother) you can tell he looks so different because he's lost weight
The first time I watch this movie I was scared to even go to the bathroom without turing a light on like always you guys are the best its always cool how much love and support you guys get you guys always make me happy whenever am having a bad day so thank you for this reaction brought a lot of memories much love to you both.
When I was young, this movie just scared the heck out of me. Watching it again these days, I too also feel all of the emotions. Shyamalan really did a good job with this movie, I'm fairly certain this is the movie that put him on the map in Hollywood. He struck such a nice balance of suspense, horror, romance, and tragedy. With one of the greatest, if not the best twist in movie history. It's been parodied more times than you can count, truly one of the great movies to come out of the 90's.
Love the twist but if you pay attention to the signs you can figure it out. I was shocked by it and personally this is M.Night's best movie also M.Night himself was the doctor at the hospital that Cole's mother talked to. The scene in the car when Cole tells his mother the truth gets me everuytime and I am not one to cry in movies so that is saying a lot. As someone who saw ghosts from the age of 5 until I was 9 years old I can tell you that this movie is the closest thing to how it really happens when one sees ghosts but in my exparience the room doesn't get cold or anything like that and yes listening to their stories helps them move on but that is a lesson I had to learn on my own despite the fear I felt when seeing them. Sadly now I only sense them when they are around which makes it worse because when they are angry I don't know where they are in the room. Grate reaction girls and glad you liked the movie.
There are so many people who didn't figure it out till the end. There were some little hints all through it but the end brings it all together. Great reaction by you guys, you are so great together you make a super couple.
I had to wait for a whole new generation to grow up before I could watch reactions where they hadn't heard of the twist in this film. At the time, everyone knew this movie. It was one of the greatest plot twists of it's time! Still makes me tear up when you see his wife was mourning this whole time, and that the mother and son were able to reconnect.
💜💜 Ladies, lovely reactions, thank you! This is one of the best movies for millions of people! The twist at the end is phenomenal and surprised everyone! Bruce Willis is a fantastic actor! He started as a comedy actor, then became an actor in action films and even dramatic characters! He is my favorite actor! I wish you a nice evening... 💜💜
You guys had the perfect reaction to this movie ! So glad you enjoyed it. If you go back and rewatch it, you will notice in scenes with the dead, you will see something red. It was supposed to be an Easter egg hint to see if people would catch on. When Laura understands the Spanish and Magy looks at her like " You understand Ghost"? !!!!! LOL
Another suspenseful film you may like is "The Mothman Prophecies" starring Richard Gere. No one else has reacted to it but I like it a lot. It co-stars Laura Linney and Debra Messing is in it too.
In life, we the living are left regretting telling a dying loved one how we felt about them. Here, it’s the dead finding a way to do the same for the living. It’s a love story, not a ghost story.😊
One of the downsides of this being such a great movie and so well-received at the time is that it completely overshadowed just how good the performance of Donnie Wahlberg was in the opening (and most important) scene.
There are a lot of good performances in the movie. The main three, of course, but even the teacher turned in a great performance. Subtle and heartfelt.
@@Stevarooni absolutely. It's still one ol my favourite movies, so many good performances, so well written, and just so ebautifully made. The onyl bad thing about it is that it set an unreasonably high bar for Shyamalan's career going forward.

He died calmly and in his death was trying to convince his wife that he was okay. So as a ghost he also walked around like he was okay and had the same calm tone of voice as he did in his death and didn't appear as scary as the other ghosts because of it.

Now watch it again. It's a WHOLE DIFFERENT MOVIE once you've seen the ending!!
I think this is the best reaction to the reveal I've ever seen.
Yep - they find that being a caregiver gets them validation and gives them self-worth, and then they don't want it to end.
Stepmother
@@grabtharshammer ….She was Kyra’s mother - not her stepmother. There is no mention of a stepmother in the film.
@@Stogie2112 You are probably correct. I, and a lot of others, always assumed it was the wicked stepmother situation, as obviously it is never made clear in the film
Also, dressing in red at your child's funeral is a big hint that something is wrong.
Laura at 30:05 Laura in English the show is called the ghost whisperer it was my favorite show when it was on with Jennifer Love Hewitt as Melinda gorden
Toni Colette is so great in this movie
Tom Collette?
@@JTQA_Tester Take off the shades.
The three of them are all great. Haley Joel Osment as a 10 year old while filming that role. Dear god.
She deserved win the oscar
Totally! But I think the correct sentence is: Toni Colette is great in all of her movies
One of the greatest plot twist of all time!! Brilliant writing & acting.
As they were watching the anniversary dinner scene and said you gotta balance work and home I was like ohhhhh no they better have 2 boxes of tissues ready 💁🏼♂️🫣
If you want to see a calmer movie with Toni Collette, I recommend watching Hereditary.
mm calmer, yes, mm.
The kid is excellent
Bruce tries to kill a kid in Looper.
And in Unbreakable his character's son has a prominent role.
A nice little detail I like, is that he only heard the ghost in the recording after he started to believe. They "see" what they expect to see.
My God I can't believe it's been 25 years since I first saw this
The doctor in the movie is actually the director, M. Night Shyamalan 😊

33:53 As a dad... the scene would be over SHORTLY.
Haley Joel was such a good a child actor in this, if you want to see more of him A.I. Artificial Intelligence from 2001 is another good one to watch.
Also, " Pay it Forward" these beautiful ladies will be emotional wrecks at the end. 😢😢
AI is SO much better than people give it credit for.
Secondhand Lions is fantastic too!
Pay It Forward is sooo good. I haven't seen that one in so long!
2:00 the best friends idea of romantic - with a good dose of funny in it
3:58 last time his wife spoke directly to him.
17:33 predicting the future with incredible accuracy as always, Magy
17:56 this right here - that's his reason for staying behind, not moving on.
18:59 you kinda expect him to say it but when he does, it still gives you the chills.
19:28 this line is incredibly important - "They don't know they're dead"
19:49 looking back at this moment - can you imagine how much this kid already trusts this random ghost, who has been trying to help him? Asking him to stay next to his bed until he falls asleep.
23:27 this is another very important line - "it gets cold"
25:05 this scene, showing us how the mother has flaws, she's human
25:50 and here, she shows just what a great mom she is - they fought before, minutes away, and she still allows him to stay with her in bed when she sees how scared he is.
27:32 second time he doesn't confront his wife, or his "rival"
29:34 they finally figured it out, both of them. Such a relief, when you see that exchange between them.
30:15 the third time he doesn't confront his "rival"
33:08 this was a bit too jumpscary but we have to give it to them, it stayed in theme with the previous ghost encounters. Just because the kid finally understands what he has to do, that doesn't make the ghosts any less scary.
36:00 what a heartfelt idea from the kid and such a heartbreaking realization right after - "I'm not gonna see you again, am I?"
37:00 this is probably one of the best parts about this movie - Cole finally confides in his mother and convinces her that he can actually see and communicate with ghosts.
39:00 no matter how many times you'll see this scene, it will always hit like a truck. The first time you're too shocked to process it but after you watch it a second time, it will hurt more and more.
Thank you for the beautiful commentary and the emotional reaction ❤
too much effort for just a heart

Aww you want a heart too? 🥺. Here ❤🤗
Everyone talks about the plot twist, and for good reason, but IMO what makes this movie great is its focus on characters.
I never noticed that the magic trick in the movie is a direct correlation to him. He is the penny.
@@BonniBarlow-fn6oj I think confronting his therapist for failing him meant he thought he would have no unfinished business
I had a hard time concentrating with all the the beauty sitting on that sofa. 😵💫
That is one of the best shock reactions I've ever seen
Oscar worthy.
This movie is great on the first watch, but is a very different and still great movie on a rewatch. And you do need to rewatch it.
Also, Happy Birthday! Mine was last week.

And that, dear Magy, is why I recommended this movie! Happy you finally came around to it.
Great reaction to a great movie. Some other movies by the same guy are: "Signs" (that you can watch anytime you like) and three movies to watch in right order "Unbreakable", "Split", "Mr. Glass"
Oh and don't forget "The Village"

I was a mental health caseworker for 14 years and it can be heartbreaking to think about those you couldn't help
The trick with any "rescue" personnel is to convince yourself that they were already lost -- the important thing is you were able to save the ones that you did. Of course, that's easier said than done...
@@bigdream_dreambig
Running away from reality is a terrible advice
@@danielduarte6802 It's not running away from reality; it's accepting reality. Some rescue personnel go in with the belief that everyone can be saved. This is untrue and it's terrible for their mental health because then everyone who's lost feels like their personal responsibility and failure. It's much more realistic and healthy to accept that you're only human, not a god, and that every individual you save is a victory -- each one an epic tragedy averted and therefore a life-changing success to celebrate.
@@bigdream_dreambig
Yeah that's fine but I was disagreeing with your "trick"
@@danielduarte6802 What's wrong with it? It's the same idea, just worded differently: setting yourself up to celebrate the victories and not view everything else as a personal failure.

The mark of a good twist ending:
1st Watch: 'I did NOT see that coming!'
2nd Watch: 'HOW did I not see that coming?'
Now this is a movie that gives you the shivers and moves you to tears almost in the same breath, this is a unique masterpiece.

@1:18 There was a ghost in the basement.
Yes! Not many mention that!👍
NOW..... re-watch this movie again and focus on all the things that are red. Ur mind will be blown even more!
Great reaction. Excellent movie, but I don't see any reaction to "Stir of Echoes" with Kevin Bacon. A must watch!
The man in the bathroom was Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block. For me, it’s the best performance in the whole movie. He has less than 5 minutes of screen time, but it’s such a haunting performance. You hold your breath the whole time. Brilliant reaction, ladies.
This movie always scares me, but in the end it has a great lesson for the character. Congratulations girls for your choice and courage
Another great movie by the same director is Unbreakable, also starring Bruce Willis. I hope you two give it a try as well.
I've seen a few reactions to this film...and this was the best, I have to say. I was laughing so hard at your jump scares. The Sixth Sense is from my childhood, when movies were beautiful...and the ending, till this day, always gets me. Outstanding performance from Haley Joel Osment.
By the way, the half naked guy Vincent Gray in the bathroom opening scene was played by Donnie Wahlberg (from New kids on the block and also happens to be Mark Wahlberg's brother) you can tell he looks so different because he's lost weight

I like to watch first time reactions to this. What a punch line. :)
The boy grown up would make a great follow-up movie.
39:10 plot twist dun dun lol 😂🤣

This is one of the best movies for millions of people! The twist at the end is phenomenal and surprised everyone! Bruce Willis is a fantastic actor!
When you’re having a bad day, remember that Malcom kept working even after he died.
