@39:50 The mother was suffering from Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. She was keeping her daughter sick so she would receive the attention and sympathy that comes with it. After her older daughter died, she started to poison her other daughter according to the dialogue.
The thing with Cara is that she came back to save her little sister. Remember at the funeral someone said, "I hear the little one's starting to get sick now." The mother had Munchausen by Proxy. That's why she was making her girls sick.
Came in to point out this. Netflix did a documentary about a real case of Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy called Take Care of Maya that I've been meaning to watch. I hear it's pretty good.
You noticed the red dress at the funeral. There's red in every scene with a ghost. His wife is wearing red at the anniversary dinner. A red balloon leads Cole upstairs at the birthday party. The door knob to the locked and blocked basement is red. Cole's safety tent is made out of a red blanket. The attention to detail is amazing.
Even Cole's mom has that kinda burnt red sweater on st the end when he tells her. I think M Night said the red represents things touched by the Paranormal. Maybe hinting she has the same gift but not as strong.
When Haley went to audition for this role, the casting director said that the first thing that impressed him about Haley was that he was the only one who showed up wearing a tie. The second thing was how well and flawlessly he read and already knew his lines at that stage in the process. They asked him how did he know his lines so well in such a short span of time. He responded that he read and studied them three times the night before his scheduled audition. Of course, they were amazed and replied, "You read and studied your lines three times last night?" Haley replied, "No, I read and studied the entire script three times last night." It was a done deal. Game over. Haley was also a straight-A student by the way.
Ok, but the actor playing the guy in the bathroom and the actor playing the girl's dad fucking nailed their scenes despite only having like two minutes of screen-time. Even the side actors bring in their A-game.
Films would be empty without the supporting cast. Lead actors and the main supporting actors get their due, but all the other actors make the films whole.
After filming this movie Bruce Willis said that Haley Joel Osmant was the most professional actor that he's ever had the pleasure of working with. He said he was blown away by his acting abilities because they were far beyond his years and better than most of the long time adult actors he's worked with.
I read in trivia that when Haley went to audition, M. Night asked him if he had read it to prepare and Haley said ''yes, i read it three times last night''. M. Night says ''wow, you read your part three times in one night?''. ''No, i read the script three times''... The whole script. He was ten. 😵
Haha thank you sooo much, this is such a kind comment!! It was such a struggle to not give anything away so he could get the full experience!! We're both so glad you enjoyed our reaction!
Looool nooooo! 😂🤣😆 Silent or not she had the worst poker face ever! The point of a poker face is NOT to show what you are feeling - like a full stone cold nothing on display. No noises and no faces. If the camera can see it, the person sitting right next to you can definitely see it. All he has to do is look sideways once and the jig is up.
Particularly considering Bruce Willis' current condition, I am very thankful for all the films we have to enjoy and share with generations of fans to come.
I love how we get two different reactions to this movie: one reaction from someone who’s never saw the movie and the reaction from someone seeing it for a second time. Both reactions are amazing.
Can we take a moment to give Toni Collette her flowers? Her performance was absolutely amazing. I really wish she would have won the Oscar for this performance. For me, it was definitely the best of the year.
What’s also very interesting is knowing Cole knew Malcolm was dead from the moment he first saw him. Remember in the church he says, “I’m gonna SEE you again, aren’t I.” That is further revealed when Cole tells Malcom he SEES dead people. It’s also telling when Cole initially doesn’t say anything to Malcom after his mom goes off to make his triangle pancakes. He didn’t want his mom to think he was talking to himself.
@@harish123az I’m guessing he only stopped being afraid of Malcolm after Malcolm opened up to him in that story. It was only then that he told Malcom his secret.
The mom is my favorite character. As scared as she is, shes still so supportive and loving towards her son. We learn she used to dance and when she's cleaning the house she's listening to music. I like her a lot.
Notice the desk blocking the door with the red doorknob? Bruce's ghost kept opening the door to go to his office in the basement. She put the desk there to stop it from opening "on its own." He was haunting her without realizing it. That's why he tells her at the end "things will be different" in the morning when he's finally gone to rest.
Damn I didnt notice that. I thought maybe he was just using the door or "thought" he was using the door because ghosts only see what they want to see and he just went through the table like it wasnt there because he couldnt see. That makes so much more sense!
Not only that but all of his old stuff is always out and clearly recently used. He was scaring the shit out of her every single day so finally she stopped going down there.
Another detail that gets overlooked is that Bruce Willis is wearing the same clothes the whole film. He removes layers at times so it is hard to notice, but it is always the outfit he wore the night he died.
The sweatshirt she gave him in the beginning because it was cold, the suit, the shirt and the coat was part of his living consciousness, so he was able to wear a variety of the same stuff without us noticing. That blew my mind upon second views .
I'm sure someone else commented on this, but ...at the funeral you can hear someone say that the little sister is getting sick now too. So I always understood it as Cara protecting her baby sister from their mother
If you think the kid is a great actor on your first watch it gets better on the revisit. It starts with him RUNNING to the church to hide from Malcolm - the current ghost that is hunting him. He ignores Malcolm as long as he can in abject shut down terror - it even takes him a minute to verbally respond to the ghost doctor. Cole actually learns to help ghosts by consciously deciding to help Dr Crow when he opens up to Cole about his marriage. This is when Cole tells him his secret. Then when they say goodbye at the end Cole knows the doctor is going to pass over and stop appearing “I’m not going to see you anymore” and so he helps his favorite ghost at this moment. “try talking to your wife when she’s asleep”. The fact that Cole has known since jump what was up but that this one ghost helped him see that they weren’t all angry monsters but just lost. It’s just so good.
Cole runs to the church for sanctuary. I think the fact that Malcolm is able to come into the church gives Cole a clue of reassurance that he is not harmful. Cole isn't afraid of his grandma already.
When a movie after a 3rd or 4th watch still gives you goosebumps, keeps you on edge, and makes you cry after decades of being released, you know its a masterpiece!! M. Night went hard on this movie!
M. Night really nailed the storytelling here man! The way the twist and turns of this movie are executed is perfect. It’s not over the top at all it just is! You can tell he was so confident in his story he didn’t have to overplay a specific moment. He knew it was gonna hit just as hard being subtle about it. Fantastic!
Shyamalan goes deep in all of his movies. Some are more on the surface, others you really need to think and catch context clues. People who think any of his movies are bad just didnt understand it. Also notice, people who dont like his movies are often people who only enjoy rom coms or mindless action flicks. ....theres a reason. lol
The way this movie so expertly balances terror and emotion is unreal. As a kid, I couldn't continue after the scene with the ghost in the kitchen. Now, I'm just crying at the end.
It is a very hard balance to achieve yet they achieved it in such an effective way. The performances, the score and the story all work in tandem to deliver those incredible last few minutes!
I remember the Oscars show that year, and Haley Joel Osment was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Seriously. This little kid was nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He lost to the venerable Michael Caine, who said in his speech how absolutely "astonishing" Osment's performance was. When a film legend tells you that your performance is astonishing when you're only a kid? Just brilliant.
This was my favourite reaction. She knew the twist, and kept giving knowing glances at the camera. Love you two. Keep up the great work. The ending scenes bring me to tears everytime
Thank you so so much for the kind words!! You have no idea how much this brightens our day! Much love back to you and we hope that at least you had tissues nearby, because we didn't and it shows😂
Dornie Walhbergs 11 minutes on screen is totally infamous but most don't even realise that's him as his past patient who broke in to the house as he lost so much weight for the role even tho he wasn't asked to. Absolutley fantastic acting.
I love how excited Denise is at times, throughout this reaction. There's few feelings better than sharing something you feel strongly about, with a person you care about, and seeing that they get it.
Yessss!!! You completely understood me! I had waited for yeaaars for this moment and the fact that Ari understood it and felt how I felt was the best feeling and made the wait worth it!
Thank you for giving props to the actor who played the older Vincent. He’s often unsung but he plays the hell out of this role, a young man who has been traumatised beyond comprehension. For the record that’s Donnie Wahlberg, one of the founding members of 80s boy band New Kids on the Block and brother of Mark Wahlberg. Lots of roles in this are underrated. Olivia Williams as the wife Anna has to play two simultaneous roles, one for those who have seen it, one for those who haven’t. She nails both. Toni Collette is hardly underrated but my god is she good. This mother doing her best in an impossible situation, at the edge of her rope and desperately trying. It’s all just… so good.
Shyamalan's masterpiece. Everything about this film is perfect. Atmosphere, drama, script, direction, soundtrack, performances. What to talk about the boy Haley JoeL Osment? I don't know if they've already held a competition for the best child performance in history, but I say it's his in the sixth sense.
There's a reason this movie got seven Oscar nominations including Best Director, Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Actress for Cole and his Mom's roles. It didn't win any but the quality of it all shines through. And YES when you watch it knowing the Malcolm is dead **it's a whole different movie.** Oh and Cole Seer... kinda hits you over the head....
This was Bruce Willis, M Night Shamyalan and Hayley Joel Osments career highlight. Toni Collette was just getting started and has gone on to give some amazing performances in all types of genres- perhaps the most versatile actress of her generation.
Ehhhhh this more launched HJO's career. Pay it Forward also did exceptionally well. Aside from Kingdom Hearts, Secondhand Lions was his only other semi big role. He hasn't really done too much (aside from a few smaller roles here and there).
I fell in love with Toni's acting when I saw 'Muriel's Wedding' several years before The Sixth Sense. I loved Bruce and didn't really know Haley much (I didn't see the various sitcoms he was on) until Forrest Gump, so Toni was one of the draws to go see this film. The other draw was various friends, "Go see The Sixth Sense. I won't say anything about it, just trust me." 😏
LOVE this movie. And, to me, the most amazing thing about Cole's character is that he TRUSTS, this dead guy that randomly pops up in his life. All the ghosts around him TERRIFY him, but he decides to trust this ONE GUY. Just....amazing.
I’ll never forget seeing this in the theater when it came out, even when I was younger, you could hear and feel the literal gasp from everyone at the twist. This film set the mark for a what a twist can be in a movie. Feels like after that, everyone was trying.
Denise, you are the best "co-watcher" who has already seen the movie in how you play off any and ALL questions Ari asks throughout the film and you do not give out even the slightest of hints or spoilers. Seriously, watching many other YT Reactor channels with 2, 3 and even 4 reactors are watching the same film and none of them even come close to how you navigated this movie with Ari being completely "in the dark". Thanks to the both of you!
Wow this is such a huge compliment!! You put such a huge smile on both our faces 😊 It was definitely a challenge, not gonna lie 😂 but we're so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thank you for your support and kind words!
That wait was so painful, for the moment the revelation came that Malcolm was dead since the beginning. Then the genius of the way his interactions showed that he’s been dead the whole time and how poetic Cole’s line “they only see what they want to see” as us the viewer only wanted to see Malcolm fix things
Got me crying over here. Coles mom asking why he’s shaking and begging him to tell her what’s wrong gets to me. I can’t fathom being a parent and seeing something’s wrong with your child be it mentally, emotionally, physically or all of the above and you have no idea how to help and let alone being a single parent with limited income and support system. Whew! Also, I love Bruce Willis and now anytime I see one of his movies I’m just hoping the whole time he’s doing as well as he can be given his situation. Great reaction❤❤
I watched this at least three times before I noticed that Malcom’s wardrobe never changed. Another brilliant move by M. Knight. He was dressed in layers so they made him look a little different in each scene. I think you could watch this every few years and continue to catch these nuances. Great reaction from both of you.
Lady Knight is spot on - it loses NONE of its power on re-watching, it's actually even more powerful. An utter classic for the ages in any genre, and a wonderful reaction. Thank you both.
I love the look Denise gives to us, the viewers during the reaction video. 😅 Those "First Time Watching / I convinced him/her to finally watch it" reaction videos are usually quite entertaining. :) Well... I cried. Once again. :( What a masterpiece!
Me, too. But at times they talk too much about the how the shots are done, or other trivial things at the oddest moments. It really takes away from the experience. I understand they have to talk, but I think it's the timing of it.
Haley Joe Osment and Toni Collette both received Oscar nominations. Well deserved. I also read an interview with M. Night where he only thought of the big twist involving Malcom after a number of drafts of the screenplay.
The reaction of the dad was amazing. You see the love and the loss, then the hurt and betrayal. Rage as his world falls apart around him. He has every emotion ricocheting around inside and he is trembling.
It's so clever how they show the breath and coldness when a ghost is near so then you realise that at the very beginning when she is in the basement, his previous patient is already in the house and the ghosts he sees have followed him there. I also love that there is something red whenever a ghost is near. Including the scenes with Bruce Willis after he is shot. This kid is one of the absolute best child actors ever, the way he plays this role is incredible.
A lot of people miss the significance of the sweaty handprints on either side of Cole's bowl of Coco Puffs. Notice when Mom goes out of the room, his hands are on the table in those spots. Then when she returns and shrieks at the open cabinet doors and drawers, his hands are still there. _He never left his seat!_ We know everything open was supernatural because it's a spooky movie, but the handprints were meant to help convey that fact.
This is one of the most brilliant reactions I’ve seen. When Mr. Knight would make some comments that pertained to the actual plot, I was so tickled to see Mrs. Knights subtle facial expression toward the camera. Just beautifully done. I’ve just found your channel and so far I’ve watched Jaws, Karate Kid, Karate Kid ll and now, The Sixth Sense. Y’all are just lovely and I look forward to watching more movies with you. Sending Hugs!!!
One of the best movies hands down. Great reaction. Superb writing, with the best twist ever. And the twist was even revealed in the film by Cole to Malcolm, yet we still don't experience the reveal until Malcolm does. Magical film making!
39:45 - "Why would she do that?". It's a condition called "Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy". It's an attention seeking condition where a caregiver (usually a mother) seeks attention by creating an illness in their child, then coming to their aide. It allows them to play "hero" and "victim" at the same time.
The best part about the twist is that, you'll catch all the clues that were laid out in front of you the entire movie. Why Cole was so reluctant to talk to him, why we don't see him talk with anyone but him, etc. Shyamalan gets a lot of shit for The Last Airbender, but movies like this one is where he's brilliant.
This was truly incredible. All the pieces click at the end so perfectly! This was executed perfectly and it made the movie such an unforgettable experience!
@@OfficialMediaKnights - I assume the DVD would have it but when I first watched this, it was on VHS. The end went over the "Roles and the Rules". I immediately went back and watched the whole movie to see if they stuck to those and they did. But they explain the color red, you notice no one touches Bruce's character, and there were a bunch of others (but that was a long time ago so I can't remember everything).
Hayley Joel, Toni Collette, and M. Night were all nominated for Oscars and none won. The movie was nominated for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Editing. Won none of them. The Academy is so moronic. They can't see a classic when it's right in front of them. When interviewed afterward, Haley Joel said, "I see stupid people!" You guys missed the fact that he saved the sister's life because the mother was poisoning her too. Other than that, very impressive reaction. Usually, I don't like watching when 1 reactor has seen it and knows the twist and says they won't say anything- but usually gives it away with their actions. Didn't happen here! It was a perfect reaction on both sides. Great job!
One of Bruce Willis's understated performances. Contrast this with Die Hard, Armageddon, etc. A little known gem starring Willis is "In Country" probably his best work. Great reaction by both!!
I don't know if anyone else noticed this little 'give away.' There is a bright chrome doorknob in one of the scenes where you can see Cole's reflection in it, but you can't see Malcolm's reflection. There was also a mirror in the stairwell in one of the scenes for just a second, and you don't see Malcome's reflection. The second time I watched this movie, I looked for the clues. Great reaction as always.
These are two terrific reactors. The post watch explanations of what they went through while watching this, both him as a first timer and her as a rewatch, were the most eloquent I’ve seen. Keep it up!
The guy in the bathroom was actually Mark Walberg! No one believed it was him at the time because he lost so much weight I think he was nominated for an Oscar or something for that performance.
Such a joy to see someone go in unspoiled to this one, even now, nearly _25 years_ later (no YOU'RE old :) and have it hit just as hard. Just a masterful movie IMO - writing, directing, acting, score, everything combines to hit it out of the park. (appreciate the shout out to Olivia Williams too BTW - as Malcolm's wife - who I became a fan of after this and who I think delivers a fantastic performance but maybe doesn't always get the love because hers is a smaller role. She absolutely convinces as both a wife disengaging from her husband and then later, when we know, as a grieving widow who _can't_ disengage from her husband. And if that's not enough, she's actually English so she evokes all that while doing an American accent to boot :)
This was such a fantastic film! So glad I got to experience all the surprises beat by beat the same way everybody did when this came out. It truly is an unforgettable experience! Olivia Williams had perhaps one of the most important roles! Even though small without her the movie wouldn’t hit as hard as it does!
Haley Joel Osment’s acting was incredible, I felt all the emotions he was portraying and was blown away with his performance as a young child, everyone did an amazing job
Denise's little looks at us sprinkled in the reaction were priceless, lol. I watched this with my kids a few months ago, and I found myself feeling jealous of them, getting to see it without knowledge of the twist. That is one if the great things about this film, the fact that it holds up on rewatch and is still amazing. But you only get to watch it the first time once, as stupid as that sounds, you guys know what I mean!
Absolutely! Everyone should get to experience the very first time with this movie! It is an absolute rollercoaster and that final twist really did it for me! This film is timeless. After 2 decades it is still highly effective because good storytelling never ages 😃
I am not a fan of the horror genre, however, I love this movie. There is an actual story that keeps my attention and I find myself captivated by my concern for Cole, finding a solution for him, rather than making a story to scare you. So many good scenes and the twist at the end got me real good! Even though I have seen this movie about 5 times, it still tears me up! Great reaction! Stay safe, stay sane, stay strong
I saw this in the theatre, and total silence, then gasps as everyone realized it at the end! I’ve probably watched reactions to it at least 20 times & I cry every time!
I saw this in the theater with my parents, and the twist, holy crap, it made my jaw drop! It was one of the highest grossing movies of 1999, $672 million dollars against a $40 million dollar budget. It was nominated for 6 Oscars including Best Picture, but lost to the controversial dark comedy American Beauty, which won 5 Oscars, including Best Picture.
Maaaan, we WISHED we could have watched this in theatres, that twist is just breathtaking!! It honestly should have won the oscar, it is a fantastic movie!! Especially because when you rewatch it, it's like you're watching a different movie - everything carries such a stronger meaning!
I remember watching the Oscars that year and I was certain that Haley Joel Osment would win Best Supporting Actor. And when he lost it to Michael Caine for Cider House Rules, nobody could believe it. Michael Caine is a great actor, but in that year nothing compared to this performance. The movie was nominated for 6 Oscars in total, and unbelievably won none.
@@acdchook I disagree that nothing compared to this, but it was not Michael Caine. It was Michael Clarke Duncan in the Green Mile that was a fantastic film and acting stint and he was also up for the best supporting that year as well.
yes, this movie is so amazing and great reaction. you should check out American Beauty though! would be so fun to see you react to that movie!@@OfficialMediaKnights
I saw this in the theater too with my dad. We talked about it the whole way home. This film had the best twist and made M. Night Shyamalan's career. Those who didn't see it where told to go see it on faith alone and were not disappointment. Eventually everyone was whispering "I see dead people."
Single-handedly the creepiest, most suspense-filled, and yet the most emotionally gripping films of my lifetime. This film is so well cast and directed it's insane
I think the MOST amazing thing about this film is that everyone who saw it kind of collectively agreed NOT to spoil it for other people because it was such an insane twist at the end.
I was one of the lucky ones who saw this in the theater when it came out. People were walking out asking people waiting in line to see the movie, "Did you already see it or is it your first time?" And when like a third of the people in line nodded that they already saw it, which was a big surprise to the rest of us, the people asking would go, "Don't say anything! Don't say anything!" And the rewatchers just nodded and said nothing! I even asked a couple in line who nodded, "you saw it already? When?" because it had just come out that weekend. And they said, "Yeah, we just saw it, got back in line," and then immediately looked away as if to indicate "conversation over now!" Lol. I remember thinking how weird that whole experience outside the movie theater was prior to going in. The reaction was so similar to the reaction in this video. I remember thinking, "what is she talking about?" after she asked him "why did you leave me?" I thought, she's the one who's been ignoring him. And then everyone gasped at the exact same time, so loudly, when Malcolm holds up his hand and there's no ring on his finger.
I was a young mother when this movie came out, and I felt so much anguish for that mom, and my heart just ached for that little boy. I cried nearly all the way through it.
The Sixth Sense was nominated for six Oscars but didn't win any of them. That included the supporting roles of both Toni Collette and Haley Joel Osment which at 11 years and 311 days made him the tenth youngest person to ever receive an Oscar nomination. Imo they should've both won but I admit that I'm totally biased since The Sixth Sense is in my top three movies of all time, if it's not thee top movie. 😅 Coincidentally Haley is in two of my top three, namely Forrest Gump.
Haley Joel-Osment was a fantastic child actor! His first movie was Forest Gump with Tom Hanks, Haley played Forest Jr, he was 6 years old at the time. then in quick succession he did 3 movies, each a year apart, with The 6th Sense (1999), Pay It Forward (2000), and A.I. (2001). The next movie I saw him in was in 2015; a story where he's a college student, working on the issue of time travel. He's still acting to this day as an adult on TV. though you wouldn't recognize him right now with that ZZ Top style beard he's sporting!
I really appreciate how you both are invested in the story of the movie. In most movie reaction videos, people are constantly trying to make jokes, even during emotional scenes. You guys gave a reaction the way it should be given. I loved watching you experience this great film.
Great movie and I’m so glad most people don’t tell the surprise ending to ruin it for new viewers. So well done and I loved the acting of Haley Joel Osment, Bruce Willis and Toni Collete (mom). It’s one of my favorites. I also loved your wife’s subtle looks at the camera knowing she knows but won’t tell her hubby about what’s going on. Great reactions!😄
I love when one person knows the twist and the other doesn't. Makes for a fun reaction. Plus you get the full explanation, because the one that knows had time to process what they saw the first time. Now watch it again now that you know.... Totally different movie experience.
Ive seen multiple 6th sense reactions, but this one is the best so far! I was tearing up with you during the scene where he told his mom about the ghosts. Well done! Also, Ive never known what the ghost was saying in Spanish and I loved the fact you guys were able to translate that for us!
It doesn’t happen often but sometimes someone will catch on early to the ending and I hate that for them because nothing is better than, like you said, the cold feeling you get right at the end when it is revealed. For me Haley Joel Osment’s performance is the most amazing thing about this movie and there are so many amazing things happening here. How do you get a young child to give an Oscar worthy performance that would be difficult for an adult to accomplish? I think his character is why it is so easy to fool us because you are so concentrated on the horror of what this young child is going through that your brain doesn’t have time to process anything else. You mentioned Forest Gump. Haley Joel also played Forest’s child in that movie. He also delivered a insane performance in A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Needs Kleenex. Great reaction from both of you.
I remember when this was released it was such a big hit and on the commercials it would say "Don't tell the secret". It was one movie that built up tension before even seeing it, and no one I knew that saw it would reveal the secret.
If you haven't seen it, "The Village" by M. Night Shyamalan is quite good too! I think it's his second best after The Sixth Sense. Honestly, I liked most of his films... Signs; Unbreakable; Split; The Visit... I liked those the most.
I love so many things about this film, SO MANY THINGS. Haley Joel Osment proved beyond a doubt that no, NO, other kid could’ve taken this role. Toni Collette is the only one who can take the light off of him, and what does she do? She shines it harder on him, and bows out in tears. She is phenomenal. Olivia Williams (Malcolm’s Wife), plays her role to perfection- had she not, the film would’ve folded. While all of this amazing acting going on, Bruce Willis was dancing scene to scene, ever so briefly and peacefully. This film is one of the reasons I love movies.
Absolutely agreed! Everybody in this worked in tandem to make it such an unforgettable experience. What a fantastic film! Haley Joel Osment killed it in this. Such an incredible performance that truly gave the weight this film needed.
I was nine years old when this came out and saw it in theaters with my mom and little sister. Spent the whole time watching hiding behind the seats infront of me and I love this movie to this day. Even if it makes me cry every time I see it.
When Malcolm hits the window at the bookstore and breaks it after he saw his wife close to that other guy, pay attention to the window... The break has no impact point, the cracks are not spidering out like a window hit by something, it's uniform and unpatterned like when glass is broken by fast temperature changes. Another intentional detail.
I saw this in the theater with my parents when I was eleven - they thought I’d be afraid, but I loved it and cried through its entirety. You’re right, it’s potent and beautiful upon rewatch as an adult. Two more of my favorite tear jerker Haley Joel Osment movies are: Pay It Forward and A.I. Artificial Intelligence both are worth seeing.
When he told him I see dead ppl, where ? When ? Everyday ! At the very end everyone comes to understand cause he’s already dead so he can see him everyday … everything fix so well and the ending makes you shed tears ….
Just now watching this, made me cry, me a 20 yrs old man cry because of 2 people that have passed away that were very close to me and seeing this was, I can't explain, I had to pause this because I broke down. Thx for this content
Denise - your looks to camera - priceless 😂 I saw this at the cinema when it came out - everyone was REELING at the twist! Perfect example of a MUST SEE TWICE film. Please do a deep dive on the incredible Toni Collette - that scene in the car…..😢❤
This is one of the few reactions where I watched it all the way through and then watched it all again immediately. Great thoughts, great reactions. It’s so special to share these incredible moments that struck you with someone else, w/o spoiling it. Great video!
Good job both of you, and good on Denise for holding in 😂. This reminds of how stage magic is often based on how we assume things. We assumed Malcolm and the mom were talking - classic misdirection. The film is so well done on evey level, it's a fun rewatch, even knowing the twist.
I too was clueless. The twist knocked me out of my seat. Seeing how emotional you get even after seeing it before is a testament to the directors genius. Everyone seems to miss the relevance of the color red. The door knob, the church door, the balloon that floats to the top of the stairs, etc. etc.
You two are so right about how Malcolm quickly related to Cole & liking games. When my Son was in 5th grade due various issues with his absent Dad...we went to a guy therapist who's office was over his garage, not a big office building. He wore sandals, had a Grateful Dead poster on his wall & a Gerry Garcia rag doll. I knew that moment he would help.
Great, great, great reaction. Those knowing looks at the camera were killing me 😂 This entire movie was phenomenally cast and acted, just absolutely amazing performances all around. The little girl asking if her sister is coming back and the conversation between Cole and his mom in the car destroy me every time I see them.
It's very meta of you enjoying getting to see him react to this movie, while we are watching you both react to it. It's why we love reaction channels. We can't experience the joy we first had, but we get to see that in someone else.

Good morning guys 😎👍😍 from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 (Caribbean)
Not a lot of people realize this, but the adult Vincent at the beginning of the movie is Donnie Wahlberg! 🤯🤯🤯
you guys should watch A.I. Artificial Intelligence next. Haley Joel Osment is awesome.
Pay attention to the visual of how the film uses the color red. It is used as a clue. Red dress. Red doorknob.
@39:50 The mother was suffering from Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy. She was keeping her daughter sick so she would receive the attention and sympathy that comes with it. After her older daughter died, she started to poison her other daughter according to the dialogue.
One of the things I love about Cole's mom is that even though she doesn't know what's going on most of the time, she still doesn't give up on him.
Riiiight?! Her persistence in loving him and assuring him was just so heartwarming and tender
her performance in the car scene never fails to make me tear up, she’s an amazing actress
@@youyeedyourlasthaw Same! I was fine until then. 😅
Mom's don't give up.
@@youyeedyourlasthaw One of my favorite scenes ever
The thing with Cara is that she came back to save her little sister. Remember at the funeral someone said, "I hear the little one's starting to get sick now." The mother had Munchausen by Proxy. That's why she was making her girls sick.
Came in to point out this. Netflix did a documentary about a real case of Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy called Take Care of Maya that I've been meaning to watch. I hear it's pretty good.
oooh I never realized that
@@cyberingcatgirls7069. I learned about that from ER. 😄. So, I knew.
Holy cow, you're right!!! That's horrifying, she was going after the little one next... Munchausen's is terrifying...
For that Netflix documentary that's not Munchausen by Proxy. She has a real rare condition the girl. The mom wasn't doing anything wrong.
AS someone who has seen this in the cinema, your comment "i usually dont watch OLDER films"... hurts me physically

Toni Collette in the car towards the end, she moves me every time with just her face acting. Absolute masterclass in acting.
Dude, then years later she kills it again in Hereditary. Love Toni Collette!
One of the best-acted scenes in all of cinema.
I cry every time I watch it. Her face speaks volumes.
She deserved the Oscar but...😢
Just the most beautiful scene possible. Her acting was beautiful. I love this film for that scene alone. It breaks me every time.
Glad someone else noticed that. Brilliant film.
I was going to mention this as well. Using red like that such a great idea. Really makes you look when you rewatch it.
oh wow
Even Cole's mom has that kinda burnt red sweater on st the end when he tells her. I think M Night said the red represents things touched by the Paranormal. Maybe hinting she has the same gift but not as strong.
Bruce is a ghost. Every scene with Bruce does not have red, so there is no correlation.
Right?! The acting was incredible across the board - every single person gave it their all and it makes the film even better!
Films would be empty without the supporting cast. Lead actors and the main supporting actors get their due, but all the other actors make the films whole.
Donny Walberg
Donnie Wahlbergs first role after NKOTB
And Trevor Morgan as Tommy Tammisimo really nailed that cough syrup commercial and that Village Idiot role.
He was ten. 😵
He was great in Second hand lions too .
Lady Knight's poker face is first rate. She didn't give a single teaser or hint. Well done, and a great reaction from both.
Haha thank you sooo much, this is such a kind comment!! It was such a struggle to not give anything away so he could get the full experience!! We're both so glad you enjoyed our reaction!

Silent or not she had the worst poker face ever!
Oh I'm OBSESSED with this queen. Give her all the awards and flowers at this point. What a legend!!
Hereditary too
What’s also very interesting is knowing Cole knew Malcolm was dead from the moment he first saw him.
And he literally ran away from him to hide in a church with Malcolm following him, he was scared of Malcolm too.
@@harish123az I’m guessing he only stopped being afraid of Malcolm after Malcolm opened up to him in that story. It was only then that he told Malcom his secret.
@@nickstark8640 Yes, correct.
oh good catch
Also Cole’s name is a subtle hint as to his ability as well - it’s Cole Sear, but if you use a soft C pronunciation it is basically Soul Seer.
The mom is my favorite character. As scared as she is, shes still so supportive and loving towards her son. We learn she used to dance and when she's cleaning the house she's listening to music. I like her a lot.
She’s not perfect either. She still sometimes gets snappy or frustrated. Like a real person, in a really difficult situation.
Oh I never even realized
Damn I didnt notice that. I thought maybe he was just using the door or "thought" he was using the door because ghosts only see what they want to see and he just went through the table like it wasnt there because he couldnt see. That makes so much more sense!
NICE CATCH!
DANG! I never noticed that.. Nice!
Whoa! 🤯
I'm sure someone else commented on this, but ...at the funeral you can hear someone say that the little sister is getting sick now too. So I always understood it as Cara protecting her baby sister from their mother
wait, that was their step-mother, right?? if i remember correctly
The scene at the end in the car is probably one of the greatest scenes ever in a movie.
It's such a beautifully shot and acted scene, it devastates me every time!
Yes, best acting ever!
Completely agree.
Beautiful work by all involved.
it just corny and forced

When a movie after a 3rd or 4th watch still gives you goosebumps, keeps you on edge, and makes you cry after decades of being released, you know its a masterpiece!! M. Night went hard on this movie!
M. Night really nailed the storytelling here man! The way the twist and turns of this movie are executed is perfect. It’s not over the top at all it just is! You can tell he was so confident in his story he didn’t have to overplay a specific moment. He knew it was gonna hit just as hard being subtle about it. Fantastic!
it just boring movie tbh
Shyamalan goes deep in all of his movies. Some are more on the surface, others you really need to think and catch context clues. People who think any of his movies are bad just didnt understand it.
Also notice, people who dont like his movies are often people who only enjoy rom coms or mindless action flicks. ....theres a reason. lol
@@lufasumafalu5069 Aaaan we found one!
As I've grown up and horror movies lose their impact, I've realized this will forever be the scariest movie I've ever seen.
Much love back to you and we hope that at least you had tissues nearby, because we didn't and it shows😂
Toni Collete was magnificent here! She wasn't even acting, that WAS that character brought to life.
Dornie Walhbergs 11 minutes on screen is totally infamous but most don't even realise that's him as his past patient who broke in to the house as he lost so much weight for the role even tho he wasn't asked to. Absolutley fantastic acting.
I was so shocked when I realized who that was!! Such an underrated actor.
“The characters feel like real people.”
Yes. This is something we rarely get from movies anymore.
Facts. I was with her as she was going through those moments. Bravo
Toni Collette plays the part of a loving, but distraught mother so well. When you love your kid and not knowing what to do to help 🙏
All the actors were amazing, but the mom's performance throughout the movie is just next level. Particularly the scene in the car.
She deserved win the oscar
@@Orion_TheyThem Hello???? Forest Gump launched HJO's career! Also AI.
Bruce Willis's career highlight is Die Hard and Moonlighting.
Forrest Gump maybe not a lot of films but but just these two alone says a lot
I fell in love with Toni's acting when I saw 'Muriel's Wedding' several years before The Sixth Sense. I loved Bruce and didn't really know Haley much (I didn't see the various sitcoms he was on) until Forrest Gump, so Toni was one of the draws to go see this film. The other draw was various friends, "Go see The Sixth Sense. I won't say anything about it, just trust me." 😏
Toni Collette deserves kudos as well. She was amazing too. Great reaction.
Malcom fills in the roll of the kid's absent father. Ghosts need help, but the help Malcom needs is to help another. Wonderfully designed.
One of the best twists in cinema history. And the acting is absolutely magnificent. Such a powerful movie.
Well... I cried. Once again. :( What a masterpiece!
Me, too. But at times they talk too much about the how the shots are done, or other trivial things at the oddest moments. It really takes away from the experience. I understand they have to talk, but I think it's the timing of it.
Hayley Joel Osment still in movies, he was a great child actor and soooooo adorable!
So moving
It's so clever how they show the breath and coldness when a ghost is near so then you realise that at the very beginning when she is in the basement, his previous patient is already in the house and the ghosts he sees have followed him there.
I also love that there is something red whenever a ghost is near. Including the scenes with Bruce Willis after he is shot.
This kid is one of the absolute best child actors ever, the way he plays this role is incredible.
The breath and coldness occurs when there is a ghost nearby but the ghost is angry
There’s something so special about a guy who’s not too proud to cry. Loved this reaction. Subbed.
The chills I still get at the reveal from this movie. Years and years later even watching reactors see it for the first time. Great job y’all!
"Do I make your proud?"... like a bullet to the soul. Wow!
Such a scene...After all this Time.
But... we only see what we want to see! ;)

The car scene might be the best in the movie
Hahaha! ‘nearly 25 years later’ you’re so funny, it just came out a couple years ago in ‘99…Oh my guhhhh!!!

The moment of euphoria of able to piece together in your head at that reveal is an experience I'd love to have again.
I am not a fan of the horror genre, however, I love this movie. There is an actual story that keeps my attention and I find myself captivated by my concern for Cole, finding a solution for him, rather than making a story to scare you.
So many good scenes and the twist at the end got me real good!

Yesss!!! It's a silent agreement amongst those of us who have seen it because the twist is truly is such a powerful and breathtaking moment!
I love seeing someone who hasn't had this movie spoiled for them enjoy it. It's really one of the greatest suspense films ever made.
Great edit....love Denise's knowing glances to camera in this reaction.
Thank you so so much, it's a bit of a different format so we're so glad you enjoyed our reaction!!
He will always be Sora to me.
Second Hand Lions was a film he did at about age 12. It’s worth seeing.
I cheered when I saw him in The Boys. I was so genuinely happy to see him again.😂
Second Hand Lions… he’s absolutely amazing in that! Great movie ❤
Great react- really appreciated Denise’s working through each phase…great poker face. A fitting viewing of a great film. Keep’em coming!!
Haha this is such a kind comment, thank you so so much!! It took every ounce of my will to not give things away, and I'm glad it worked 😂
Haley Joel Osmond never fails to pull on my heart strings
Another favorite Haley Joel Osment movie of mine is Pay it Forward. Another tear jerker!
I think the Mum is an amazing actress. Her emotion in the car scene gets me every single time.
@@OfficialMediaKnights AI is another great movie with haley if you're interested. he's incredibly talented!
I love this movie so much❤
Tony Colette, Bruce , Haley, all so incredible.
Also this movie isn't about ghosts💁 it's about trauma❤
When he told him I see dead ppl, where ? When ? Everyday ! At the very end everyone comes to understand cause he’s already dead so he can see him everyday … everything fix so well and the ending makes you shed tears ….
That scene in the car is one of the most powerful scenes ive ever seen. The performances are amazing.
Just now watching this, made me cry, me a 20 yrs old man cry because of 2 people that have passed away that were very close to me and seeing this was, I can't explain, I had to pause this because I broke down. Thx for this content
Denise - your looks to camera - priceless 😂
I saw this at the cinema when it came out - everyone was REELING at the twist!
The door knob, the church door, the balloon that floats to the top of the stairs, etc. etc.
Her face every time he takes a guess at whats happening when you know the twist is hilarious
