Whenever i watch this I cant help but think of that nate bargatze bit: “we just thought his wife wasn’t talking to him for like a year. That made more sense to us than him possibly being dead”
I remember seeing this at the theaters, and the audience was hooked. Very few movies have the audience react to the same things at the same time. The theater exploded with the revelation at the end🎉... I Enjoy these breakdowns of past movies. Brings back a lot of memories.
Every Sat I take my elderly Mum shopping, sweetest woman ever, happy to do it since my Dad died recently..... but it can be tough, the poor thing is lost without her Husband of 50years...... but is tough The one thing that has been making it easier the last few weeks is knowing there'll be a new Breakdown to watch when I get home, you are really helping me keep sane, thank you so much guys for the content...... and keeping me sane every Saturday evening🤪🙃🤣
I remember seeing Haley Joel Osmont used to make me think of the line "I see dead people", but then it was quickly replaced with "Walker told me I have AIDS".
Seriously whoever doesn't like this movie has absolutely no imagination! Excellent breakdown again Paul! I loved it! Osmett looks so different now. His parody of VP Candidate Vance is spot on! The kid still is great! I'd love to see a breakdown of Signs someday. That was wild casting Phoenix and Gibson together.
I watched this filn this year just cuz, i had watched most horror films of the post 2010s. I seriously was surprised with the ending!! 5/5 star worthy!
i just wanna say that i really enjoy watching ur videos, i always watch the episodes from movies i’ve seen before and i love ur style. Really helping me study right now :3 thank u
This film and Signs are my 2 favorite M Night pictures. And yes, the first time I watched it, I had no idea he was dead the whole time. I do remember thinking some of the scenes felt off, but I probably just figured it was the directors odd way of doing the scenes; since I’d never seen one of his movies before.
Excellent breakdown, I loved the movie even when it came out It was so mind boggling even to the end. Shyamalan has missed in a couple of his movies over the years, but this and the Trilogy with the movie GLASS, His movie show the real subtle reality in a horror movie. There's always something more to see in seeing them again. Excellent review Mr Pau.
One of my favorite movies of all time and M. Knight’s masterpiece. It still resonates after all these years. I love Signs and Devil too but this is the very best. ❤📺👑
I watched this movie for the first time on a flight 2 days ago! I already knew the twist but was shocked by how good Haley Joel Osmont was in this movie. What an impressive performance
this movie has one of my favorite twists of all time, excited to see what I’ve missed! that moment of realization, oof, insane stuff I literally thought of “I am your father” too, you get me so bad
Hahahaa. I did actually figure it out. My friends told me there was a big twist and as soon as Haley said “I see dead people” and I went “oh. Bruce Willis is dead. Got it”. They were so annoyed. lol. It’s still a great movie. With great performances and even knowing the twist it’s still awesome to watch.
I watched this one in the theater. I was blindsided! What an ending! BRILLIANT! So much so, that I went back to the theater 2 days later to watch from the OTHER view poiint. One of my favorite all time movies!
When the film was released no one had a clue. There was no social media to reveal the ending, thank God. It was a genuine revelation and a brilliant one at that. We have become desensitised to ‘reveals and twists’ but at the time we were genuinely gobsmacked
I am really adept at predicting how a film is going to develop and end. However, I literally got whiplash from the plot twist in this film. Truely gobsmacked at the end.
I remember an ew review that said the twist was Willis's characters was a woman so I watched and picked up that he was dead and waited for the ew twist like a clown lol. Still appreciate you being the only channel to respect the viewers with the title. Thumbs up and the only one I watch. 👍😁🤘
As a Kira here, I definitely understand being called Kyra, we are used to it..well, at least I am lol. I will always love this movie. I remember seeing in the theater when it came out, I was a younging and I thought....this guy is a genius. Like Scream, I feel like it just made the genre fresh again...and I really am glad that the horror genre is picking back up again, and we are getting fresh new horror movies that are original.
I went to see this when it came out in the cinema. I also fell asleep halfway through, and never ever seen the finish. This gave me closure after 25 years, cheers Paul, mate. 😢😂
This, the beginning of Aliens 3 and Train to Busan will have me crying, I lost my mom in 2022 - the only thing that would help me pass the time was horror movies- it will be a while before I watch those again. 💔
I remember this movie scared me as a child cause of all the ghost with visible injuries and the scene with the Pilgrim people hanged. I misunderstood it and thought it was another scary film
There is a great scene in a film called about a boy starring Toni Collette, again playing s single mother. A young Nicholas Hoult whines about why couldn’t be a child star in a Hollywood blockbuster movie, obviously referring to Toni Collette’s role in the Sixth Sense. I noticed it at the time….
I appreciate this breakdown. I'm one of those people who would say I didn't like this movie. It was spoiled for me (by accident) before I had seen it, and that really tainted the experience. It felt heavy-handed and obvious when you know the twist ahead of time. Then with Shyamalan making undeniable stinkers afterward, I just felt like he always sucked. However, this does highlight hints and glimpses of genius that is there. I still see plot holes and find some moments too convenient for the sake of tricking the audience. That said, this reminded me of the heart and emotion the movie had. Although the twist was spoiled, I also cried during some of those moments you pointed out. Thank you! I'll be rewatching soon to give it another chance to change my opinion.
I must give this a rewatch, I was working at a cinema when this was out, 99 was a great year for films. Sixth sense, Blair witch, matrix, human traffic, happiness and so on.🎃🎃👍👍
What Is Anti-Logic also published a take on this movie, and a pretty hot one. He says that there actually is no twist, because all the rules that apply to ghosts do not apply to Willis' character to mask the fact that he's dead. He changes clothes many times for instance. That being said, I'm glad you took a look at this movie too! :)
*Sorry, i missed the appointment ...... I'm a bit dead!!* *It's a brilliant film, and the ending of him being a ghost was masterfully done. I don't think many realised that until the end.*
You got me tearin' up bruv 😥 reliving the emotional gut punches in this movie still hit hard decades later. Great video but I will have to tell RA that your a big softy now
Whenever the colour red is a predominant part of the scene ,red dress, red sweater, red blanket, red door knob, etc, etc, means there's a ghost present
I was so shocked at the twist. I saw it in movie theaters. I was in like 4th grade or something. Haha. I’m sure I would have been shocked if I was older.
What up Paul, love your videos. Was wondering if you’d ever cover movies like seven samurai or yojimbo or any Kurosawa films in the future? Would be awesome!
For the detractors, this movie is so good that it has literally kept M. Night’s career alive and that’s not a knock. When studios or audiences are aware of the mere capability of executing a film like this, why wouldn’t one check out what he has coming out next even after so many misfires. One of the few directors who can bring in a crowd, regardless of size, strictly based on his name.
I wonder if the people who don't like it had the twist revealed to them? Even if you haven't seen this movie, it's kind of hard not to know he's dead now. Kind of like the reveal of Darth Vader being Luke's father doesn't have the same impact.
I only just realised that there isn't any red in the scene where Vincent kills Malcolm. Also, the blanket that Cole has when he tells Malcolm about seeing ghosts, is pink I think that's to show that Cole has seen so many ghosts that it's worn out/old news. Idk maybe I'm way off base.
I always think that the desk is at the door at the end because the door continues to open even when she closes like the thing that moved arround with the mother of the boy
Paul..You are so good at these breakdowns. Really enjoyable. Any chance you will do the show ....FROM ? It's a great show and we will be even better if you did a breakdown on the episodes...
Thanks Paul. Although I think it was Cole’s grandmother looking for the pendant in the kitchen and not the first ghost he saw. Great breakdown of a fab movie 👍
Also in the same scene, after his mum talks with him about it, he asks to be excused. He leaves and we see that sweat mark on the table where his hands were. This is an indication that he interacted with his grandma and didn’t know how to tell his mum. Very effective scene in the movie, showing the nature of Cole and his mum.
disclaimer for me, I went to the cinema with my wife to watch it, but just after the start my pager rang and I had to go find a payphone, missed the whole first act, really weird when everyone in the place gasped at the revelation that he had been dead and that the boy was the only one who saw him.
The poison is Pine Sol. A general purpose household cleaner here in the States. I think you meant to say that it's Malcolm's ring Anna drops at the end, not hers. She's still wearing hers.
I don’t hate the movie because it is bad but it’s because it was so prominent back then. It’s like when a good popular song is played to death on the radio.
WTF MAN!!!!! I was planning on watching this movie tonight with my wife but I guess I don’t need to now. Glad to know he’s dead the whole time. Thanks a lot!
I never met someone who doesn't like the movie! Though I can get how someone would get it as too scary as ghost scene are still awfully frightening for me!

"This is a movie about marriage and about how hard marriage is. Even if you get shot, it's your fault."
Thought she was going to ask for a divorce at the dinner scene 😅
I love these deep dives into classic films you do. You are one of the best movie channels on youtube.
Ey thank you
21:20 it's not weird, Paul. Makes total sense. Grandparents rule, glad Grandma Joan was a special person in your life
Thank you

Shymalan put everything he had into this film. It was fantastic.
Clearly he put everything into it, as evidenced by him having nothing left for any movie that followed
So glad you did this movie - such a landmark film. Thank you!!!
Every Sat I take my elderly Mum shopping, sweetest woman ever, happy to do it since my Dad died recently..... but it can be tough, the poor thing is lost without her Husband of 50years...... but is tough

Just came across this channel in the past few weeks, and the content is great. Love the movie analysis . Keep it up 👍
Thank you
Please do The Others next ❤
Yeah I definitely want to, got the 4k recently and it’s great
Omg that movie was So good!
I remember seeing Haley Joel Osmont used to make me think of the line "I see dead people", but then it was quickly replaced with "Walker told me I have AIDS".
Red chair ...... Paul is a ghost confirmed.
Seriously whoever doesn't like this movie has absolutely no imagination! Excellent breakdown again Paul! I loved it! Osmett looks so different now. His parody of VP Candidate Vance is spot on! Yeah Signs is definitely coming soon. They’re dropping the 4k this year and I’d love to talk about it
He was on fire during this time, I hope Bruce can live comfortably from this day on
I watched this filn this year just cuz, i had watched most horror films of the post 2010s.
I seriously was surprised with the ending!!
5/5 star worthy!
Your grandmother is proud of you and watches your videos, my man. Be well.

❤❤❤❤❤ this movie!
One of my favourite movies ever! Really enjoyed this one mate! 👍
I didn't realize that M. Night got the idea for this movie from one of my favorite childhood tv shows! I have way more respect for the guy now

Another great recap of a classic
The Sixth Sense is my second favourite M. Night film just behind Unbreakable.
I watched this one in the theater. I was blindsided! What an ending! BRILLIANT! So much so, that I went back to the theater 2 days later to watch from the OTHER view poiint. One of my favorite all time movies!
Back when Shyamalan was hailed as "the next Spielberg"
Great film and a great breakdown.
Superb breakdown...one of my favourite film
Thanks for the video Paul, hope you have a lovely day
You too mate have a good one
11:09 I knew it! I saw that episode rerun at some point after this movie came out, and I suspected he lifted that idea from it!
When the film was released no one had a clue. There was no social media to reveal the ending, thank God. It was a genuine revelation and a brilliant one at that. We have become desensitised to ‘reveals and twists’ but at the time we were genuinely gobsmacked

Hand to God, I knew he was dead way before the reveal.
I leaned over to my then girlfriend, after the restaurant scene, and said "i bet hes dead"
I went to see this when it came out in the cinema.
I also fell asleep halfway through, and never ever seen the finish.
This gave me closure after 25 years, cheers Paul, mate. 😢😂
6 Sense is one of those films you have to watch twice and know the ending was pretty sweet and sad though
I have always seen this movie one time but after this breakdown, I’m gonna watch it again probably tonight or tomorrow night for sure
This, the beginning of Aliens 3 and Train to Busan will have me crying, I lost my mom in 2022 - the only thing that would help me pass the time was horror movies- it will be a while before I watch those again. 💔

Ey thank you, always good to read a comment like that after posting one of these vids
I loved this movie when I saw it in the theaters and it holds up now! It's excellent! And no, I did not figure out the ending when I first saw it.
I must give this a rewatch, I was working at a cinema when this was out, 99 was a great year for films. Sixth sense, Blair witch, matrix, human traffic, happiness and so on.🎃🎃👍👍
Ooooooo, the Breakdown I didn’t know I needed. ✌🏽
Hope you enjoy it Toni, thank you 🙏
That stepmom wore RED to her daughter's funeral. People shouldve been suspicious IMMEDIATELY.
I guess you could say it was a… red flag

Yeah gonna try get to it

Unbreakable is M Night's best film.
Please make a breakdown for the movie "Hannibal" it has made a huge effect on me when I was 11

One of the greatest movies of all time 👻
I always worry that people will ruin this movie for people who haven’t seen it. It’s so great, everyone deserves to see it unspoiled
can you do " the way of the gun " someday ?

Hell ya dog, spoiler alert after the spoiler 😂😂😂😂😂

I never watched this movie for some reason. I just skipped it and got spoiled not long after release.
I hate that this movie is where M. Night peaked- he clearly has an imagination
