Loving the occasional Aussie references......ie: Nullabor, Maccas, servo, etc. Great trip....loving the quality of the editing....you guys are producing real quality.... ( seriously good ). Next trip needs to be the Kimberley region....no travel bloggers have covered this area....and it will blow your mind, the scenery and wildlife are right in your wheelhouse.....and will no doubt fire up the argument of the best beaches.....Thank me later !!!

I just arrived in the USA from Australia. I went to the fridge of a convenience store and took the bottle of Fanta to the cash register. Dude swings around the tip screen. What? I served myself, but I'm supposed to tip them for letting me buy something from them. It makes no sense. But it's true that American working conditions are horrible - low wages, only 2 weeks holiday, and you're trapped in your job because it supplies health insurance to cover blatant rip-off medical costs. Also, public transport is laughably bad here. If you don't have a car, it's a real drag.

Great series guys! Some of the things I enjoyed most, were the reconfirmation that main street Americans are way nicer than 6 o'clock news Americans. I also loved the cities and towns you visited or referenced, that I know from popular music. I realised that when you visited Winslow Arizona. Towns like Amarillo, El Paso and Tucson. That was way cool. But I must also mention the one thing I think you guys do better than anyone else, its your music choice and music editing. Even if it's just muzak, it's always on point. Hi Cheveyo, I agree with you about the US being a giant parking lot. Recently, I was on Google Earth looking for a place in the US and the closer I got to the ground, the more gobsmacked I became because there were more parking areas than buildings! To me, an Aussie, it looked like no two buildings were adjacent to each other! All Incould think about was all the homeless people in the US and how easy it would be to use some of that land as housing for them!

In fact no-one seemed to understand me with my Australian accent. My irish friend who was living there kept having to tell people what I was saying. Eg. I asked for ham and salad roll at one stop we made and the guy behind the counter didn't understand me at all. Of course when I opened the roll it was just a huge amount of ham and no salad in it... I was a little disappointed. Here we have a little bit of ham and lots of salad. Oh the memories. lol. It is fun travelling though.

I find the US super, super expensive as a European. Everything excludes VAT, and tipping on top. So the sticker price is way off....see a meal for $20, by the time tax and tips added together...it is close to $30. I have to keep in mind everything is like another 30% extra on something that is already pricey (food wise).

    • @crowcrow1465

As a US citizen, I hate our tipping culture and the mindset that if you dont tip you simply shouldnt go out to eat. I cant believe we have allowed one of the Largest economies in the world to convince its citizens it should pay eachothers wages instead of the actual companies individuals are employed by. It also blows my mind how far we think is normal to travel to and from work.. For example I travel 69-72 miles per day on my round trip work commute. WE DO have a ridiculously beautiful and diverse country though so there is that.

    • @RaymondwLin
      @RaymondwLin 2 месяца назад

@@crowcrow1465 This is what I don't understand....When I go out eating I don't feel like a customer. I feel like I am there as like a judge...I judge how well the restaurant /server is performing and then tip accordingly.
I just want to eat, pay and get out. I don't want to be made to feel bad about tipping you less because you are having a bad day or not smiling enough, then having you having a go at me at the restaurant in front of everyone for low tips! There is this pressure there that I do not want. What kind of transaction is that, it is almost under duress...I really hate it.
The contract of employment is between the restaurant and its staff, not between the staff and the customer.

Prob a bit late with this comment, but FWIW, I'd love a short (or long) series on Sedona. I drove through there but didn't stop (needed to make the Grand Canyon). I hear the mountain biking is very good there. Maybe stash the idea for the next time you want to visit home. Stay safe and keep having fun :)

    Congratulations! 🥳
Love the bottle tree plantation. There’s a big ‘thong’ (flip flop) tree in the middle of a caravan park (trailer park) about an hour and a half away from where I live here in Aus - doesn’t reflect/refract the light as well though!
The teepee motel is so cool!
Perfect way to end the journey with a beach sunrise!
Have mixed feeling about the finish of Route 66! Have really enjoyed the series - sad to have to say goodbye to Cherry too but excited for your next adventure!
Thank you for letting us all tag along!

And you're right, Cheveo, I was just listening to some US infrastructure guy on radio/podcast talking to an Aussie journalist, saying that the USA has about 25% more parking spaces than required.
    Loved the episode.
Also you're so right "checking out your own back yard" should do it. In my case - Australia.

That volcano seems weirdly small. Smaller than the wolfe creek crater.

Congratulations on completing that iconic journey.
Saves me from having to do it (I’m past that kind of road trip) and I don’t have to be regretful of missing it.
I always enjoy your quirky side trips to see something unexpected. Was not expecting the caldera.
And your interactions are like a comedy duo, but there’s no straight (wo)man.

As someone who has suffered from anxiety I wanted to let Tia know, just in case it might be useful to her or anyone else reading this, about a book that has helped me a lot. Which is ' Self Help for Your Nerves ' by Dr Claire Weekes (1903-1990), first published in 1962. Also available is an audiobook called ' Hope and Help for Your Nerves ' (a later edition I think) narrated by Dr Weekes. She explains what anxiety is and the ways it can negatively affect a person and what can be done to put it back in its place if it has become a problem. Her process worked for me as it has done for countless others. There is a Wikipedia page for her and there are well over a thousand little written reviews of her book from customers on Amazon. I love your videos you guys !

You are very welcome ! I have just listened to Dr Weekes audiobook for the first time and boy was she Old School. She speaks quite emphatically ! It was a bit of a shock to me because in ' Self Help for Your Nerves ' her written word "voice" came across to me as so gentle and soothing. Anyway I wanted to say that at one point she says that a person might have to go on tranquilizers during the first weeks. That used to be the medical orthodoxy back then before people learned of the dangers of tranquilizers. I was put on them long before I had heard of Dr Weekes and I couldn't get off them quickly enough. So forewarned is forearmed as they say. Wishing you both all the best !
