Recently I made a video talking about Hypercarries and their status in the game, questioning the legitimacy of their carry potential. As a followup episode, I want to talk about the opposite end of the spectrum: ANTICARRIES, and whether or not they're ironically better at carrying games than actual carries!

As a Singed main, I've already lost count of how many irelia and riven players I've seen say "wtf I couldn't dash" in mega adhesive because they don't know how singed works and when I explain it to them " that's so unfair"

There’s a fun interaction where malzahars passive blocks the darkness of Nocturnes ult from affecting him
does this affect tf ult as well? I know Gp can remove debuffs from noc ult and tf ult by eating his orange, but i'm no expert when it comes to Malz

A fed ADC is scary, but a fed shaco or malzahar is scarier.

Played against a shaco main recently as Kindred, was just not allowed to exist in my jungle. Never been more scared to be in my own jungle or go near a mark for fear of an ambush.

Jokes on you, he disappears, reappears behind you and now your dead. Oh, youre just walking around? Jokes on you, here's a random box that chunks you for most of your health. Literally can't do anything against him or I get killed. Can't countergank a jungle shaco, can't gank a top shaco, can't 1v1 l, can't 5v1, can't do anything

As a Taliyah one trick, I do *not* want Taliyah changed. I like her being my own niche thing that I can pick at all times, without worrying about the enemy picking or banning her. Plus, I love her kit as is.

As a Riven main, I can safely say that most Riven slander is true.
You may hate him, but shaco is unique in being a flex assassin/anticarry with his ad/ap builds
He's also unique in the way he doesn't only damage you in game but damages you emotionally.

Just wondering, after this vid would you be interested in doing a why no one plays viktor. I’m a otp, and know one of his biggest problems is that he’s a late game scaling mage and can get set behind very easily during the laning phase and needs coordination with his jngler. However how much of a detriment is that in high ranking solo queue? What’s keeping him back in comparison to other mages. Would like to know a take on this by a more knowledgeable person about the game

As a fellow viktor main, I'd rather keep him unpopular, otherwise he will get insta nerfed
What's Viktor actual powerspike? I played him two or three times and despite having a good lane I feel like I don't do much after min 15
Mordekaiser not only strips you from your team and gets you in the worst posible outcome of having to face a juggernaut, he also takes 10% of all your stats meaning that you are not only alone against him, but also weakened

Thats NOT why he´s an anti-carry. None of the Champions that he talked about are special because of the Damage.
Anti carry can be divided onto 3 categories: Skirmishers, Disruptors, and Lockdown Masters.
-Skirmishers are characters reliant on 1v1 picks, often in the jungle, and create advantages by making people. (Shaco, Quinn)
-Disruptors are Heavy AoE Damage/CC Characters that can turn around TFs alone, with the use of 1 or 2 spells. (Liss, Fiddle)
-Lockdown M are Heavy CC Characters that have an easy way to hold onto you, and a reliable way to deny you from the TF (Poppy, Morde) Cho fits *Some* criteria for Lockdown and Disruptos (AoE CC with 2 spells, one being a silence, which is VERY strong, and stickyness once you´re on top of them)
But there´s a quality thats a little special about champs like Cho. Its called Terrain Scaling. This reason alone is why GP should be considered an Anti-Carry, and what consolidates Orianna as an Anti-Carry, aswel as it does for Cho.
Terrain Scaling is the quality that some champion have to ¨Create¨ Terrain via zoning Tools. (Ej: GP Barrels, Orianna Ball, Azir Soldiers). You know that if you walk thru them, you´re either DEAD or HEAVILY punished, which makes it so you CANT walk forward until they reposition/use their spells. Cho has a LITTLE bit of this, since Q can create a pocket of terrain where if you walk too far, you´re dead.
So basicly, the personality of Cho is all over the place, but he has a little bit of everything in the world of the Anti-Carry

@@dysthymiabearer The silence is especially great combined with his Q. I got so much better with Cho when I started using W and E BEFORE his Q so that they can't get out of the slow Q. (E for slow and the silence stops dashing.)
Not as extreme as someone like Malhazar, but Cho is great as a counter against assassins/divers. And he's beefy enough that (unlike Malhazar) he can't be popped if he's caught out.
Twisted Fate is an anti carry that fits into both groups of anti carries. He makes it really hard to engage and can come from out of nowhere.
I love how people forgot that malzahar doesnt have only one dangerous cc. His q last 2 seconds and its aoe

This video made me realize I naturally lean towards anti-carries. I play or used to play more than half of the list.
As a Singed player nothing tastes sweeter than pulling the enemy jungler top for 'free kills', going 0/6 in lane, seeing the enemy's ego grow and then watch it all crumble once laning phase ends and wrecking havoc among the enemy team. Because the whole enemy is like: "Wait, Singed was an easy kill early... why does our whole team die when he runs in and we all focus him?"

for ww sadly i would say his pre rework would actually be pretty close to one of te best anti-carries in the game but he lost his scary point and click nuke ult so he doesn't work that good as a anti carry anymore

it's because in low elo it's much more rewarding to play as an anti carry even if you're not supposed to be one. I main thresh and even if I'm supposed to be the one who engages, by the time the right opportunity comes, most of the times we are already engaged on, and obviously with thresh its easy to save teammates if they know how your lantern works
Would Akshan be an anti-carry? He seems to meet a lot of the criteria you mentioned albeit not in the way the other listed champions do.
you could argue for it, he feels like singed or shaco in the sense that he wins by anoying the shit out fo you, you cant chase him or flee from him, and he doesn't do jack shit, but one assist and he undoes everything you
yes he is, as long as he has the revive passive he will be the anti-carry of assassins and adcs, you could argue he is good against slayers as well but i think he currently is too weak for that(he needs to be strong enough to win a 1v1 vs the slayers)

I would actually argue he isnt an anti carry. His revive passive is great but it relies on him getting the kill right after. And he doesnt have anything stopping the carries from wiping him out first nullifying it completely. His ult is also hit and miss since its blocked by everything. His map pressure is decent with his perma stealth, but that just allows him to get into position to do damage. I think hes much more of an adc than anti carry. I think anti carries need consitant ways to stop the carry from well carrying. Akshan has the same variables in attacking that a lucian does, or a caitlyn. Also every anti carry mentioned had something that could alter the course of the fight built into their kit, allowing them to have tons of value in a fight even if they have the least gold income in the game. A 0/11/3 teemo with a maxed Q can still save his team from a rampaging yi even if all he has is liandrys and sorc shoes. Same goes for mord. He can build a moonstone renewer and last long enough in his ult with a carry that his team can win the fight or at least get them a major advantage. Akshan kinda just shoots things and if hes lucky he can revive a recently dead teamate.

I remember the days where shaco’s jack in the box stacking was absurd. You walk into a bush and instantly get melted 100-0 by 10 boxes all in the duration of a single fear.
I would also say that anti-carries are made around the mental game. So they are designed specifically to win the mental game by tilting the enemy and having them feed you.
Very insightful, I didn't know a lot of champions could possibly fall into this category of champion. I also love the persona 5 music in the background lol

As a Malzahar main, there is no better feeling in the world than that of when the enemy team funnels all their gold into a single carry, and you just revoke their fun license by pressing one button.

Hey vars, great video! I noticed you didn’t do a best abilities video for supports and just wanted to know if you intended on doing it since i really liked that series.
As a fiddle main,i think fiddlesticks is actually one of the most team reliant champs. What happens if your sup doesn't have vision controll even with your help somehow? Your ult doesn't fear and you get bursted. What happens if the enemy picks kahzix and spaminvades you while your team is farming? You fall behind and become useless. And don't get me started on the fact that if your allies don't bait the enemy team into engaging so you can ult on them,ulting itself becomes a problem. For anyone struggling to see coming fidddle's ult just know that 90% of the time if the enemy engages 4v5 that 5th member is behind a wall about to harvest your fear

@@KingAm0 lissandra is definitely not a normal mage. She is especially good into assasins. She makes the game unplayable for assasins and genereally she can oneshot enemy carries easily too but cant carry in her own

@@liamsal9968 Shaco is probably one of the hardest champions to play, because he doesnt rely on Macro or Mechanics purely, its all about microgame, and that needs a decent amount of time to be grasped, and you need to perfectly understand the limits of your champ. Ap is often worst than AD, specially in the jungle. Dont give up on him, you´ll soon love the cries for nerfs and the complaints in all chat :)

Every champ is Kha'zix or Vayne. As for Jax, his Jungling isn't as good as Rammus'.
@@doughnutfeel6199 Yeah, the nerfs to bramble vest and the reworks did rammus dirty. Just a few seasons ago I could 1v1 Yi at pretty much any level and win, but now most Yi players build lifesteal and I get ROFLstomped.
On the bright side, Rammus is much better at teamfighting thanks to the ult IMO (the leap allows you to literally jump straight at their ADC)

thank for this, now I know that I usually play as anti carries. I usually play as Vi, nocturne, singed, Zilean, and Renekton. This was a good video. and this video helped me better realize that my play style need a bit of work.

I can't believe you didn't mentioned Tahm Kench once, his whole thematic is about punishing greed and his kit is extremely good at shutting down one person in particular too, not to mention the peel.

rly surprised trundle isn’t on the list he’s literally the definition of an anticarry. he has no aoe in his kit he’s designed to target one person and literally steal their stats. he smacks the adcs to death and that’s his job
He's more of an antitank he doesent ult the carry, he ultimately the front line

He has 2 AoE. His W is an AoE buff and his E is an AoE slow.
Trundle is a duelist, which is a separate sub category, he steals targets AD with bite, out attack speeds anyone in his domain, and steals stats with his ult, he is the ultimate 1v1er but that's his one job is to duel pretty much, fiora is also in that category.
God I love Shaco so much. Benefit of that is when people draft him against me I basically already know what he's trying to do at any given time.

The psych warfare is real with teemo. Teemo is one of my 3 mains and I have had entire teams chasing me while my team is taking their base. Teemo showing confidence scares the crap out of people. I have stared down a three person gank that they could easily kill me in an open lane, but do not dare come after me due to the eternal question "where and how many shrooms?"

Can Urgot be considered an anti-carry? He isn't an amazing team-fighter, but I find that he can dumpster melee hyper-carries like Yasuo and Irelia when in lane and in skirmishes

No. Anti carries counter the whole role of carries. Shen just shields someone.

Shen has real counterplay while the others dont have any. Therefore they are designed to Anti Carry as they can easily take the enemy Carry out. Shen doesnt. He lacks later on the DMG, the CC and only has the survivability.

Yes a champs has to counter the enemy carry to be a anti carry. The whole names comes from exactly that. No an assassine is not an anti carry because he doesnt counter the carry his purpose but just kills him.
Shen is a protector. He supports his team while protecting his team from the enemy team. His job is not to lockdown the enemy carry but rather be there to help his team to survive.

"Dealing massive damage through bait & punishment and taking advantage of the enemies' arrogance or ignorance" is exactly why I main AP shaco and love him so much.
The enemy can't do dumb shit against you and hope for the best, because your whole kit is made to punish that type of play. You are given all the tools to deal with the type of players who try to 'brute force' their way to victory.
I also just love pissing off master yis and yasuos on my spare time, so that might have to do something with it as well idk

i always considered trundle just an anti tank, since i wouldnt consider a tank the teams carry.
I think trundle at his core is just be a stat stick dps bruiser. Given that his only anti-carry trait is his ult, and it works best against champions who normally don't carry (tanks) I don't know if you could really classify him as one.
Compared to mordekaiser who literally removes whoever he wants from the game.
When vars forgets to mention yorick is an anti-carry, it means riot did a really good job of killing their champion.
Idk, Hullbreaker with Divine Dunderer makes him a splitpush god. He is not an anti-carry by any means.

He Doesnt have a reliable CC (W is Easy to dodge, and can be broken really easily, and thats his ONLY CC, and its not even *Real* CC) And he has no disruptive abilities.
On top of that, you can see how the Anti-Carrys can be qualified on 2 different categories.
-Skirmishers (Shaco, Quinn) and -Disruptors (Liss, Poppy, Galio)
-Skirmishers have the ability to hunt down players 1v1 and make fights uneven by making solo picks. These Have the ability to stick to you (See how both mentioned have dashes, and high damage, on top of slows and other CCs) And kill you INSTANTLY (Pretty self-explanatory) Yorick lack both of these since, he only has 1 CC, and can be either dodge or broken, the only other ability is a slow, which is not reliable enough, and his damage is inconsistent, he cant burst down targets by himself.
-Disruptors have the ability to either Lockdown a single target, or Turn around an entire Teamfight by the use of big spells. The disruptors would be Something like Poppy, Mordekaiser for the ones to lockdown a target, and Liss and Fiddle are the Turn Around Disruptors. Yorick has none of these abilities since he cant stick to a target in a teamfight (As he lacks mobility/Easy CC. Poppy Jumps on you, and has an anti dash and the ult, and Mordekaiser only needs to press a button and you´re basicly out of combat for AT LEAST 8 seconds, so we can count that as an 8 second point and click CC, which is REALLY RELIABLE) So he cant be a lockdown character. Then we have the Area Disruptors, which is self explanatory. Yorick doesnt have the ability to turn around a fight by himself, and has no Area effects.
Now, you can say ¨Yeah, but i´ve turned around fights by myself with yorick¨, and you know what, i would believe it, because chaces are you play at Plat elo or below, and that you´ve had insane games where you went 12/0 and stuff, and then, ALMOST every champ can turn around fights.

Most anti carries do have cc, but it's not necessary to do their job, which is: disrupt and deny the carries to carry; now in what way they deny them, it doesn't really matter. Now yorick is a very special case, he faces a dilemma where he shares all the attributes of the juggernaut subclass, but trades almost all area damage for single target, he posses all the necessary tools to shut down a specific group of champions (which is the goal of anti carries btw) which makes him an anti carry in the subclass or group that's not meant or does it the worst

Funny enough I believe I have a good amount of mastery or stories to tell playing almost every champion on this anti carry list.
The only additions I might add is the old Gangplank in support role, his oranges gave me a tanky support that face tanked Anni stuns, Thresh CC, and just shrug it off like it doesn't matter, all the while using his Raise Morale & Zekes Herald to give the ADC a 40 ad + 10% life steal advantage over the enemy ADC. That was one hell of an anti-support-carry...
2nd addition might be Yuumi, since putting her on certain champs removes all the intuitive counter play such as we have with Garen or Jax.

Last game I've ever played was Alistar, and I only picked the big bull for the following reasons: Akali and Yasuo. Completely botching an engage-heavy team which the only means to escape is "don't get caught, kill everyone" is absolutely fantastic, plus making 30% to 50% of their damage not happen on yourself is great.
I miss Twisted Fate from that list. He can deny enemys wanting to hide, split push and have a 2 second point and click stun at 700 range with rapidfire cannon, and can follow that with his everfrost. He fits in almost in every single way
Warwick is an undernoticed champion, and cleanly fits your definition of anti carry.
I'd be curious to see your thoughts on why no one plays Rell. I've played her a few times and she's actually a surprisingly fun and flashy initiation tank, I enjoy her a lot more than alternatives (Leona, Nautilus, etc)
