Hey! Guess what. You're Awesome and thanks for watching. I promise this is the best DND tutorial based on a 30 year old Jeff Foxworthy joke you'll ever see. Stick around for more and vote in the comments for which subclass you'd like to next.
The Bladesinger really is one of the funnest subclasses to play. I love the feeling of the gish and to me this is the closest you get in 5e.
Yes I realize you cannot wear leather armor and mage armor at the same time. I should have clarified to substitute mage armor. You can stop commenting on this please, thank you.

5E was released almost 9 years ago. Wizards is actively working on the next edition of the game. RUclipsrs have spent all 9 years milking as much content from 5E as they can. And this guy STILL starts a new channel, and is funny and engaging with his first video. That’s impressive.
I know of some groups still using 3.5e and 4e, so I think it will be quiet a while before 5e has subsided to the new edition
Plus with all the stuff that’s happened with WotC recently, I wouldn’t be surprised if 5e lives well beyond it’s intended lifespan…
@@justahologram2230 Honestly, all things considered. I imagine we'll more than likely get a slow conversion from 5e to P2E and other competitors more than to D&D 6e
That's because I'm pretty sure 5th edition isn't going anywhere anytime it's by far the most successful edition and it's definitely the easiest to learn in my and this is coming from someone who's played 3.5 and 4
His style reminds me of a youtuber called Jocat.
One correction: Mage Armor doesn't work if you're wearing armor. It also sets your base AC to 13.
Yes, this is correct. Though it wasn't said explicitly, the AC values they presented did match up. With leather armor (AC 11), Bladesong active (+3), and a 14 Dexterity (+2), they noted an AC of 16. When they added Mage Armor, it only added +2 to 18. This would imply that you'd use Mage Armor (13), Bladesong (+3), and Dexterity (+2) for that AC of 18. I just think the illustration was a bit misleading.
@@KrisSchouw it's also a bit weird. Because if you plan to cast mage armor, you'll need to not be wearing armor to begin with
@@bladeRoller One sec while I de-robe...
Also pretty sure bladesi gers can't use a shield either
@@KrisSchouw why would anyone ever have leather armor though? studded leather is the same except +1 ac
Fun fact: Take three levels of Battle Smith Artificer and you can add your Int to weapon damage rolls and get a Steel Defender to help you out where needed
If you take a single level in monk, your ac becomes bonkers with unarmored def, my bladesinger has 17 ac, mage armor makes it 20, bladesong makes it 25, shield 30, and that's only at level 5
@Shadic24367 Unfortunately Mage Armor and Unarmored Defense don't stack RAW. They both set base AC, so you'd have to pick one or the other. If you theoretically had 20 Int, Dex, and Wis, then your math would hold true. Although that's very difficult to do, especially at low levels.
My Battlesmith had 18 AC at level 3 too XD
@@Shadic24367
Love me some powergamers that get the most basic rules wrong to their advantage. ;-)
Wait, but doesn’t Song of Victory let you use your Dexterity and Intelligence? Wouldn’t this get in the way and weaken this?
My favorite archetype for my favorite class in the game. Gives the wizard so much flexibility on top of their very powerful spell list. My one piece of advice would be to never forget you’re still a squishy wizard. Don’t try to tank; use your spells to control and disable, then swoop in and pick apart.
Unless you get Blood Fury Tattoo, have +3 Con mod and pick Tough for a feat. Got 121 hit points at level 12.
It's gloriously silly, I'm telling ya. Could work without the BFT, even, but that item just makes you even more busted.
@@Terkontar not a terrible idea, but I’d rather keep the actual tank in front of me and support him with spells. Lol.
@@theblindjedi41 I like living dangerously, and I'm on record for casting fireball on top of myself when the situation called for it. Also used my HP pool for some pretty massive clutches with Life Transference spell.
In all seriousness though, I *am* our party's tank. Our team is a bunch of squishies for the most part: lore bard, moon druid, artificer alchemist, ranger/celelock, radiant soul monk, and myself. I'm the tankiest person in the party *by far* when you account for resistances and AC.
And if I *really* need to tank, I can replace one of my attacks with Blade Ward. There's something really satisfying about tanking a crit from a cathedral column to the face and just walking it off with measly 20-something damage
@@theblindjedi41 then play someother type of Wizard that specialize in those things.
If I didnt want to tank as my bladesinger for my current party, I wouldn't be playing a bladesinger.
Right now my DM cant hit me. At level 6, my AC is 22 with Haste and Bladesong and without throwing a shield spell.
Combine this with the Mobile feat, and you have a character that can literally anime-dash past an enemy with two (one with booming blade) quick swipes and manage to dash out of range for them to even retaliate. And if they try to move, they get to savor the the thunderous aftermath of your raw speed. Don't even get me started on the flavor of the Steel Wind Strike spell...
Dude, how dare you come out of nowhere, in the age of millions of D&D channels, and make me want to see more after watching literally the first of your videos?
Guess I'm too low on INT to figure that one out, but I'm definitely clicking that sub with HASTE!
I’m gonna tell you right now, this channel is gonna absolutely explode. Great editing, comedy, brevity, but still great & thorough explanation. Reminds me of DavvyChappy, and can’t wait to see what other subclasses & topics you’ll touch on! (ahem ahem echo knight or armorer ahem ahem)
Watched this and thought "" Why the hell does it only have 130 subs???" realized it's only been out for a month....
This channel is gonna go places! :)
A fun way you can be a bargain-bin Barbarian once you get your special version of extra attack is to cast Blade Ward as your cantrip to give yourself the same resistances as Rage does.
You can add to that that by casting Shadow Blade using as high a spell slot as you can afford to still be putting out decent damage round over round as well, since you don’t have to worry as much about making concentration saves thanks to the reduced damage and CON save bonus from bladesong during the rare times you do get hit.
or you can go for spirit shroud and at least have better chance to hit with your +2 scimitar of speed and keep 2 attacks per round. No, advantage from SB never works, so no. It is not better
There's also an elf race whose fey step grants resistance to all damage until your next turn.....profiency times per day O.o
This was fun, great job love this video! Bladesinger's aren't truly as OP as this video makes them out to be, but they are a TON of fun and are strong. To mention some of their weaknesses or hurdles:
-Bladesong has a limited number of uses equal to your PROF bonus per Long Rest and it ends if you're incapacitated. Meaning if you get affected by any effect that does that (Stunned, Unconscious, Paralyzed, Incapacitation) you lose a use of it and need to reset it. There will be fights where you don't want to Bladesong because you don't have infinite uses and you may need it later. So in some fights you're real squishy.
-You have a lot reaction options and they all do really good defensive stuff but you only have one reaction to take. You get hit, you can cast Shield, but now you can't cast Absorb Elements to protect yourself from some big elemental damage AOE, you cast Absorb Elements, but now you can't cast Shield to protect yourself from a string of multi-attacks. You cast Counterspell, but now you can't cast Shield, Absorb Elements, or Silvery Barbs to protect yourself or other teammates from the other stuff in the fight! Its a give and take situation.
-You have low HP, a d6 hit dice means when you get hurt (and you will), it hurts a lot.
-The power of their weapon attacks begins to lessen the more you level into Wizard - not because your attacks get weaker, its because your spells get stronger! Wizards are powerful spellcasters, and their magic generally is stronger than swinging their sword all the time. Late game, there will come a time were your 3rd level - 5th level spells slots will be so plentiful that the Extra Attack feature doesn't really keep up to throwing out Fireballs, Synaptic Static, or even Mind Whip... thanks Arcane Recovery!
Still, don't let any of this dissuade you from playing a Bladesinger, they're awesome and worth playing! In most games these issues aren't that big a deal (maybe the hit point one- the Tough feat exist to help there) so don't worry too much about this stuff and enjoy the song!
Also to toss on some homebrew fun! Bladesinger's in lore have a ton of different weapon types with different animal themed styles (Cat, Bird, and Snake) one of the most popular/iconic ones being the Lion Style Bladesinger who focused on Longswords. In addition, in some lore they were stated to be able to use their specialized weapon as a spellcasting focus. 5e Bladesinger's focus on Dexterity and Intelligence, so Longswords and other more Strength weapons, don't really work so well here. So here's a way you could easily homebrew that in if you're looking to use weapons besides Rapiers, Shortswords, or Scimitars:
>Training in War and Song [Homebrew]
>2nd-level Bladesinging feature
>You gain proficiency with light armor, and you gain proficiency with one type of one-handed melee weapon of your choice. Choose one type of one-handed melee weapon you are proficient in, this weapon must lack the heavy property and special property. When you attack with this weapon in one hand, you can use your Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack and damage rolls and you can use this weapon as a spellcasting focus for your wizard spells.
>You also gain proficiency in the Performance skill if you don't already have it.
True but hyperbole = funny.
And the fact is, Bladesingers are super-fun just for their flexibility.
Burn up all your high-level spells? You can still pop Bladesong and jump into melee.
Flying enemies harrying your allies? Cast Animate Objects and run around the battlefield cutting things down with a ton of flying blades.
Want to go full anime and cut down your enemies like Trunks or Vergil? Drop Steel Wind Strike on those enemies while apologizing for having to go all out...just this once.
Literal army coming after you to end your amazing power? Meteor Swarm is more than enough for them.
There's a reason Tulok the Barbrarian uses Bladesinger for his Sephiroth and Sasuke builds.
It's such a great class.
@@Finalplayer14 Ummmm unless I miss something that is not Homebrew. The Sword Coast Adventures Guide has all of that.
@@damongraham1398 'Choose one type of one-handed melee weapon you are proficient in, this weapon must lack the heavy property and special property. This part is homebrew, the lore on the different Bladesinger Schools is not. It is in fact in Swords of the Coast Guide.
@@Finalplayer14 what about the Ruby of the War Mage? Also doesn't a finesse weapon allows using Dex with either dueling or two weapon fighting style? To be clear is longsword using the Dex modifier the homebrew?
I am playing my first bladesinger and OMG it feels OP. My DM has tried SO hard to hit me it is rediculous.
I have never played DnD YET and are not going to soon but this was hilarious. Good job!
NGL, I don‘t know how often I have watched this video until know, but this may just be the best singular video on RUclips. This guy is just a genius
Haste is cool, but upcast Shadow Blade or a Summon can increase your damage higher.
Elven Accuracy is a must have perk for this fella.
You can't mage armor yourself if you are wearing leather armor.
Mage Armor
1 abjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: A willing creature who isn't wearing armor
Components: V S M (A piece of cured leather)
Duration: 8 hours
Classes: Sorcerer, Wizard
You touch a willing creature who isn’t wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. The target’s base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action
don't forget silvery barbs. the only thing i was worried about was nat 20s. then silvery barbs came into play. what's that you finally get to hit me with a nat 20 dm, ahh no silvery barbs reroll. with a big fat middle finger in the air
Add that too dispel magic and counterspell, and you are literally Unkillable
Or to make it super interesting, as I did, Shadar Kai bladesinger. You get to add blessing of the Raven Queen. Free teleport AT WILL from shadow to shadow(30 feet) prof bonus times a day. Also take mobile feat.
It gets better! The wording of bladesong precludes two-handed weapons, but not explicitly dual-wielding! Plus, it doesn't say anything about ranged weapons either; use two hand-crossbows, or revolvers, and pick up war caster feat to cover the somatic component problem. Artificer free arcane gunslinger!
I wouldn't generally use two hand-crossbows, but definitely grab the Repeating Shot Infusion from Artificer with the Crossbow Expert feat and you can really be a unique character. I picture Gun-Fu, for sure.
Great idea. One small problem; bladesinger wizards need to have their spellbook in one hand at all times when they wanna cast anything, so dual wielding is out of the question even with war caster.
@@sohaibtheex017 That's a new one on me... Recent edition errata? You could have a spellshard spell book (From Eberron), and mount the stone in your weapon pommel to get round that I suppose?
I'm new to D&D and this has to be the best subclass I've seen so far
Start as a goblin so you get the racial bonus of bonus action disengage to make haste even more broken. That or take the mobility feat.
I'm always on the lookout for my Bladesinger vids, thanks for another to add to the collection
Mage armor does not work with armor on.
Mage Armor:
You touch a willing creature who isn't wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. The target's base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends it if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action.
The only issue with bladesinger is that there are 3 main stats to be improved. You are a wizard, you HAVE to have 20 int.
You also have to have 20 dex to max AC and hiting with your blade.
But yout Hit dice is a d6, so if you don't have any Con, you are the but the most beautiful cannon glass of Faerun.
Bladesinger is strong enough without all the ability score increases. Take a flavorful feat like mobile or something so you're less powergamey. So you'll miss an attack or two. Nbd if you're fighting thatsomethi g that needs a 17 to hit just cast spells
They get many ways to counteract not getting their stats topped, get yourself the mobile feat (that + bladesong is a +20ft of speed) go in, booming blade someone, use mobile feat to ignore oportunity attack and go hide behind front liner, you also have green flame sword AND shadow blade eventually, plus all the spells of the wizard. If you use shadow blade and you are in dim light or darkness (like 90% of dungeons are) you attack with advantage, meaning you almost always can go away with the mobile feat
I had a goal of creating the old AD&D Elf F/M/T in one class, in 5e. I started with Artificer at first, but decided to scrap that. I ended up with a Bladesinger with a rogueish background. I was Stealthy with the ability to deal with locks and traps, could use a sword decently enough, with full wizard casting on top.. Winning!
Might be fun as a bugbear with a 2 lvl dip into fighter.
"That's a fun encounter you've set up, would be a shame if someone slayed 80 % with steel wind strike action surge steel wind strike." 😂😂😅😊
1st round: Bonus action start blade song about how you are about to paint the floor with your enemies blood, use action to control battlefield.
2nd round: bonus action cast shadow blade, your concentration is buffed anyway and as long as you are in dark or dim light you attack with advantage with your weapon. You can booming blade with your action
3rd round: Steel wind strike whoever is still standing at advantage, dealing the shadow blade damage AND the steel wind strike.
@@isayinyang93 A bugbear ambush attack of an extra 2d6 per hit only works on the first round of combat, so unless you set it up before combat this doesn't work out entirely. Combining steel wind strike with shadowblade is very cool though! 🤑😁😁🤣
I somehow convinced my DM to allow me to use a double-ended scimitar with my Bladesinger if I took a full Elf for my race. The damage buff isn't spectacular but I get another +1 to AC and I get the BA attack without having to take Polearm Master.
BTW, I've been binging on your vids today and I really like them. Don't stop now!
Super funny format, really like your sense of humor, good job!
Man it seems like you just started this channel and it's blasting off. It's really good content, good on ya man. A little jealous tbh lol.
It'd be awesome if your next video was a cleric subclass, or battlemaster
Praise the algorithm for recommending this channel, easy sun this stuff is hilarious, keep it up dude, also pretty please do a Druid subclass
You could have mentioned that Bladesingers LOVE Shapechange because we can turn into a Marilith and laugh at martials.
6 attacks - all magical
A reaction every TURN
Free teleportation
and we can still use our class features
I would like to point out 2 things. The first is that as bladesinger you need that high AC since if you get hit you will likely go down in one or two hits so it's not as strong as it sounds since a single critical hit will likely drop u on the ground or close. The second is that haste could give you a secondo casting of cantrip since it gives you another whole attack action and not merely a single attack so (if it's fine for your dm since it can be considered a dubious interaction) even with the restriction one weapon attack only you can use booming blade that is a melee attack. Even funnier mix it with an hex blade to cast eldrich blast twice+attack any turn if buffed with haste for potentially 9 attack each round but if you do this you will probably die from a dispel magic and anything the DM might do to you while you can't take action it is often forgot that haste is a double edged sword
Unfortunately, RAW, you cannot generally use the extra action granted by the Haste spell to cast a spell. It is true that a Bladesinger has the unique ability to forgo one of their weapon attacks in favor of casting a cantrip, but the text of the Haste spell specifies that you can use it to take the Attack, but specifically one weapon attack. I can see a bit of a gray area since the wording of the Extra Attack allows you to exchange one weapon attack for a cantrip, but I feel like the Spell's effect is more specific than the Bladesong's effect, so it supersedes it. It's always up to DM discretion, of course, but I do believe RAW (and at every table I've either played a Bladesinger at), it's not permissible.
@@KrisSchouw I agree with you but i still find It funny since It Is a Gray area but in the end haste Is really Gold on his own for a bladesinger (maybe not the best but a Solid option for sure)
@@Shamalaya311 Agreed. I always have a hard time figuring out whether to cast Shadow Blade at 3rd level or Haste.
This is some of the best subclass content I’ve ever seen! Pleeeease keep going!!!
Honestly haste is a bit overrated for Bladesinger. On paper it sounds good, but for another basic attack I felt it wasn’t worth it. The movement and versatility of the extra action was nice, but for offence I found a level 3 shadow blade made my attacks much more spicy.
Innate advantage in dim light/darkness
3d8 base damage.
Two attacks and one of them can be a blade cantrip means you’ve got something like 3-6d8s on your first hit and 6-9d8s if both attacks hit.
As opposed to 3 d8 attacks with one blade cantrip, a total of 3-6d8s if they all hit.
On 5 level haste better because you have only one attack then it depends of how good your magic sword(rapier :) )
One problem is that RAW booming blade and green flame dont work with Shadow Blade since the cantrips specify a material component of "a melee weapon worth at least 1 sp" and Shadow Blade technically doesnt have any innate value
Really good spells to pick up to deal with damage dealing AoEs: Absorb Elements, Counterspell, Protection from Energy.
Absorb Elements will temporarily give you resistance and let you add a d6 of that damage to your next attack (per level)
Counterspell will shut down those pesky Fireballs and Disintegrates so there's no damage
And Protection from Energy will give you a much longer lasting resistance to a damage
Just some very good defensive options to deal with your dm deciding that he's tired of rolling attacks
Yaaaaas! This was my favorite class back in the day. The bladesong is such a cool idea. I remember decapitating a dragon with a called shot after dimension dooring into it's back. Good times!
This is making me think about the Bladesinger I played with in a high power game before I had to leave. We were running some different rules for the sake of high power, high danger, the most prevalent being as follows:
Every level we got gave us a +1 ASI. For every level that would normally give us an ASI, we got the +1 and a Feat on top of that
We had a magic item system similar to Baldur's Gate 3. We could have 1 cape/cloak, 2 rings, 1 headband/helmet, 1 belt, 1 pair of boots, 1 pair of gauntlets/bracers and 1 suit of armour each, along with any other miscellaneous stuff we could find.
I was level 15 by the time I left and my Bladesinger/Battlesmith multiclass had a max potential AC of 34, had a +14 to hit with her spell attack rolls and a +11 with her weapons. The DM allowed me to create physical katana versions of my Flame Blade and Shadow Blade, and my Steel Defender (which I had upgraded with the body of a Steel Predator) was the one casting Haste on me while chilling in a Rope Trick. It's a very surreal feeling to have a pair of enemies that can go ballistic and attack 6 times launch all 12 attacks at me and not hit a single one, let me tell you
With the astral adventure set you can now combine this with autognomes (that have built in mage armor and can turns mending into a minor healing cantrip) and spacer background to ge tough as a bonus feat for extra hp
I wait for the day when I can play a 14th level bladesinger and Chad walk up to an enemy creature with blink+ tensors transformation.
U CAN'T Combine Mage Armor With Armor, It's 1 or The Other, NOT Both...
At My Level, I Have 3 Feats, I Took ALERT & DEFENSIVE DUALIST & MOBILE, My Stat's Are:
My DEX & INT Are BOTH 18, My AC Is: 13 (Mage Armor), +4 (Dex) & +4 Blade Song= AC 21, If I Get Hit, Then I Can Add A +4 To My AC From DEFENSIVE DUALIST, Makeing My AC A 25 For A Turn As A Reaction OR I Can Cast The SHIELD Spell For A +5...
you right. should have said substitute
That was the first thing I said when listening...
Well drop leather armour then :D
Until you find studded +1
The math still checked out if you looked at the numbers.
Doesn’t defensive dualist and shield count as a reaction you can’t do them both
This kind of ignores that you can't use Int to swing a weapon. So in your example you have a +2 to hit, and that only goes up if you don't take feats, and don't increase your Int. So if you hit level 10 and still have a +2 to hit (because you increase your Int) while everyone else is sitting at +5, you definitely won't feel very god-like. If you chose to increase your Dex, then Int stuff stuffers, like save dc, spell attack, spells prepped, AC from bladesong, concentration save bonus, ability checks.
Hold up dude this content is absolutely hilarious. You are gonna do great things.
This guy is going to do something huge. Subscribed!
Oh this is sooooooo on the mark!!!!! Nicely done!!!!
I hope this is JUST THE BEGINNING
my bladesong is just being able to see a few seconds into the future
you can't use mage armor while using any armor but i like this video
As someone who’s never played but has been looking to start I think you just chose my first character class
You would be a just a normal mage for lvl 1, just a heads up
May I introduce you to the Echosinger?
3 levels of fighter nets you Action surge, a fighting style, a mild self heal, and a fucking busted ass Echo to use as a ghetto shield and misty step when its not making all your attacks for you from 30 feet away.
See I started playing a blade song wizard about a year ago starting at 7th level, my dm forgot to mention it’s a no magic campaign, that’s fine. My 24 AC will be fantastic to have especially as a half orc with there race feature even thou I have measly 61 hp
I enjoyed this so much I literally went to his channel and got sad that there wasn’t more uploads. Definitely want to see even more lol
More to come!
im subscriber number 783. just wanted to put that out there.
You've made a few mistakes in this video: 1: You can't get +2 dex and +3 int on any race, you can get with regular human and not using any other rules +1 in all stats.
2: Mage armor and leather armor does not stack, as mage armor says "You touch a willing creature who isn't wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. The target's base AC becomes 13 + its Dexterity modifier. The spell ends if the target dons armor or if you dismiss the spell as an action." Note the whole: a creature who isn't wearing armor. This isn't a +bonus but modified the base AC of a creature. As such it cannot be stacked with other armors.
So you'd have an AC of 15 with mage armor active (Dex 14-15). And using shield spell that's an AC of 20. Then combined with Bladesinger ability (let's say 16-17 Int) you can get a total of 23 AC. Which is a lot for sure, but you only have a specific number of first level spellslots. So realistically you'd have an AC of 18.
3: Haste is good on Bladesingers yes, but if you do get hit, you're gonna have a harder time passing that concentration check due to low constitution, and that's if you do get hit. And if that happens the haste penalties are horrific. Now you do have a point with the whole reduce damage equal to the spells level times 5. Which can make that constitution check MUCH easier but still not easy by any means
Other then that I agree with every other point
1. That was the final modified after including standard array
2. That armour didn't stack, when he cast mage armour his ad went up by 2 rather than 3, implying it was replacing the leather armour
3. Blessings get a huge concentration save buff, and in later levels blessings can absorb damage
Great explanation. One problem.
You get only one reaction, which means you can't both cast "shield" and reduce damage to nothing as a reaction.
He's reducing AoE spells like fireball to 0. Spells that deal damsge without having to "hit" other wise use shield. You've got both bases covered. Seen other people say use blade ward for your contrip.
I'm so glad o found this. Excited to see more
Fun fact: Add 3 levels of Swashbuckling rogue and not only do you get sneak attack damage. You also get Rakish Audacity which allows you to gain advantage on targets you're fighting alone, also you get fancy footwork so not only can you run up sneak attack a dude, you can also run away without provoking attacks of opportunity. Broken? I think so!
meanwhile you trade spellcaster levels and delay your extra attack... broken? Not really. Just take mobile feat.
@@Kivuhl you could do that, you miss out on guaranteed sneak attack damage every turn. Also opens up for an ASI or another feat (I personally prefer meta magic here for multiple reasons). Also, if you chose rogue first, you miss out on 4 proficiencies and 2 expertises. But, if you don’t find it broken. That’s fine, you stick to your mobile feat. 😊
@@joemichen sure, expertises and other rogue things are cool, but in the end you get worse character overall. And you loses wisdom saves, which are probably most important saves in the game. First of all - let's assume we go for pure melee build. And what level I should compare... Maybe 10? Because there is literally no point doing it below 6 wizard, due to multi doing irrelevant damage:
- 57,5 average on hit (mobile, 18 dex) vs 51 average (18dex with additional feat or only 3lv rogue), which is 33,725 vs 29,825 average dpr.
- 3x3lv, 3x4lv, 2x5lv spellslots vs 3x3lv spellslots
- 4lv spells: dimension door, lance, banishment, fabricate, polymorph, black tentacles, private sanctum, fire wall... and those are basic spells.
- 5lv spells: synaptic static, bigby hand, animate objects, telepatic bond, planar binding, contact gods, wall of force, wall of stone, transmute rock, summon dragon, lots of spying and things like planar binding.
"That’s fine, you stick to your swashbuckler multi", right? :)
@@Kivuhl lmao 🤣 idc that much to seriously plan out the amount of DPS a character puts out. There are other ways to be broken than just DPS. But you keep plugging away at those numbers friend. 😂🤣
@@joemichen there is no such things as "DPS" in dnd.
Anyways. I just pointed out that multiclassing is worse than taking mobile feat. That's all. And funny thing, mobile is kinda... Pointless.
I already wanted to play this despite the number of people saying that it’s a wizard trying to be a fighter. Yeah, sorry, but after this little demo I’d say that fighters are trying to be this.
DM: It can't be why in the hell is this happening to me
Blade Singer: sounds like a skill issue.
I have never, ever, wanted to play a wizard before, but I am so excited to . . . ever play again.
Mage armor can't stack on top of leather armor. "You touch a willing creature who isn't wearing armor, and a protective magical force surrounds it until the spell ends. "
I cant help but feel like this is the class that eldritch knight should have been
I wanted to play in Eldridge night, but after reading this, I never wanna play in that sub class again this is just objectively better😢
Not fair, EK should get a small portion of the battle manoeuvres a battlemaster would get, then
And a bonus to int saving throws
Im new to DnD, just gonna start my first campaign, thanks to this video, is your fault Im gonna start my DnD career as a DM headache.
Yo, this video had me rolling. Well done homie. Graphics were great 🤙🏽
This might just be me, but I love living out my power ranger fantasy. Haste is my powered up form with tensers or tahas guise being my battlizer 😅
No one's going to say it? Fine I'll do it
"Here's your sign"
I’m a blade singer. But i knew it before watching the video.
Keep on working you are my new fav RUclipsr
I had thought up an insane build for Bladesinger.... Be a halfling to have halfling luck, take war caster, take resilient and be profanity in con saves and NEVER lose concentration on a spell ever again. personally I dont like playing halflings so I would pick a drow for free fairie fire and advantage on charmed saving throws and take mobile, elven accuracy along with resilient, and war-caster
TBF Shadow Blade is probably a better option than Haste in many situations.
I particularly like blink as its a non-concentration middle finger to whoever wanted to hit you that turn as you disappear 50% of the time, and reappear within 10ft of where you disappeared.
Bladesinger is my first ever character for my first ever game. DM said it fits me well. At level 14 now, AC 27, Dex at 20 and Int at 22 (magic item) my favorite spell combo is to use a potion of speed (haste without concentration) crown of stars (no concentration) and then Tenser's transformation. +50 to health and advantage on all melee attacks and additional 2d12 on melee attacks. Plus 4d12 with bonus action for crown of stars. And i have the cloak of displacement making all attacks against me with disadvantage. I basically told our Paladin to step aside, Im the Tank now.
Oh wow. I will definitely be making one of these…
dnd feels broken in just that right way (most of the time) that makes you feel awesome but doesnt just obliterate your existence if you know what ur doing. its like theres so much crazy stuff in this game that it doesnt really feel bad imo most of the time because the market of broken is so saturated and the broken stuff sometimes take so many compounding sources that it feels like it levels out, leading to this kind of awesome but somehow reasonable and manageable feel
You can also be a blade bard and have better hit dice. Plus you get some hilarious maneuvers that make you a discount monk.
Dislike giving your party members bardic inspiration? Spend them for your OWN benefit instead, with the blade bard!
_Side effects may include impalement and falling to your death, which is how my character eventually ended._
R.I.P. _Plagiarism,_ the Kenku Bard.
If I may make a suggestion: You may be a Devine soul Sorcerer
1:28 This is slightly incorrect. You can't cast Mage Armor on yourself if you're wearing armor. However, without the light armor on, your AC = 13 + 2 DEX + 3 INT + 5 Shield = 23, which is correct.
yeah the biggest problem would be to get to a high level with it. You still have wizards hp
tought feat, investing in con (if possible)
I love tacking on 2 levels of bledesinger to any of my martial builds. I played a death monk and psychic warrior characters and I loved loved adding bladesong to them.
Very cool high quality video 👌👌👌
This had me rolling. Please post more.
Amazing first dnd video.
I quite sure it may have been said in here but blade song don't work with a shield unless you DM allows it. and mage armor starting it at 13 + you can't use it with your wore armor you would have to pick with one to use.
I love Blade dancer so much, it's not the best wizard sub class, but god I love it. Personally, my bladesong for my changeling is him spinning his sword around actively
I liked it, I subbed.
Sadly tasha's otherwordly guise don't allow you to make 3 attacks, it doesn't stack with extra attacks
I have a Bladesinger-Oath of the Watcher multiclass NPC in my campaign as "anti-murder-hobo insurance" AKA - reminding the party that their actions have consequences, and those consequences include but are not limited to the wrath of a very scary Elf. I also modified it slightly to make this woman even more terrifying than she already is by ruling that Bladesingers who are proficient in both medium and heavy armor and have a strength stat over 13 can activate Bladesong while wearing medium armor. As a result, its extremely unlikely the party can hit her, and her HP is decent enough due to spells that artificially increase it, but her one weakness is that her Constitution is only 6...
Other "anti-muder-hobo countermeasures" include her boyfriend the level 18 Horizon Walker Ranger-Zealot Barbarian multiclass, and a magical duck that's secretly a level 30 adventurer because I'm the DM and if I say magical ducks can go past level 20, they can. He's also an ungodly multiclass of Wild Magic Barbarian, Oath of the Ancients Paladin, and Divine Soul Sorcerer, with 2 levels in Star Druid specifically so he can Wildshape into a humanoid if necessary. All these people can also theoretically appear to deus ex machichina the party out of sticky situations if necessary in the event they decide to go Mindflayer hunting at level 4 or something...
Doing a bladesinger samurai in a homebrew campaign soon I’m stoked
The PROPER Gandalf build.
Also, don't forget to take a level on a fighter to action surge that made your attacks looks like you are grilling meat with your enemies
*Bladesong starts* me putting some punk music on and start laughing maniacally
Get Silvery Barbs to nullify all critical hit because it forces a re-role as a reaction
Yep my fav subclass
Bladesinger: “I cast blur.”
DM: “AAAAAAAAGHH!”
Bladesinger and then using Blade Ward in place of your second attack from level 6...
2 levels wildfire. Walk in, wreck everything, blow it up while walking away.
mage armor says you cant be wearing armor.
Kinda want to play a blade singer now
Also with the extra attacks you can cast shocking grasp at an enemy wearing metal armor with advantage and still get another hit in while you are also much safer because your ac is so much higher than a regular wizard.
01:15 Did you really say to use mage armor with leather armor? So shocked I had to rewind several times.
*substitute mage armor
Wouldn’t be a D&D conversation without some well actually
1 level in artificer. CON save profiency. Use a scimitar in one hand and shadow blade in the other. Shadowblade doesn't get a bonus from ability score mod so you don't need 2 weapon fighting. Get to 6 for your extra attack then go back to artificer for armorer. Take Infiltrator. Now you get a scimitar attack, and laser eye that deals 1d6, 2d6 on subsequent turns and a bonus action shadowblade that you can occasionally have advantage with.
Not fast enough? Take one of the many elves with misty step. One of them even gives you RESISTANCE TO ALL DAMAGE AFTER YOU USE IT.
Shadow Blade does get a bonus from ability scores since it is still considered a weapon as per the spells description: "It counts as a SIMPLE MELEE WEAPON with which you are proficient". Any weapon you use gets a bonus to its damage equal to your ability score mod: "When attacking with a WEAPON, you add your ability modifier"
@bigsmoke8816 ouu did not catch that. Thought of the infiltrator beam since it adds int modifier but if shadow blade adds it too then using it as your first attack and scimitar for bonus would be better (if you have higher int than dex
4:33 Lmao thats the album cover for Sylosis - The Supreme Opressor
