Hey! Guess what. You're Awesome and thanks for watching. I promise this is the best DND tutorial based on a 30 year old Jeff Foxworthy joke you'll ever see. Stick around for more and vote in the comments for which subclass you'd like to next.
With more edge than a sword store at the mall, the hexblade is legitimately one of my favorite classes. Just so happened I did 2 spellsword type classes out the gate and I really love them both. Nothing in the world is more innocent that teen angst and I feel like they ground that up, turned it into butter, spread that on toast and made sure it was the only thing the hexblade ever ate.

It's actually insane how just one level of Hexblade can be a complete build changer for any character. Like Swords Bard for example. It wraps up the package so perfectly, that it's hard to find any reason not to dip.
Hexblade also compliments Shadow Sorcerer pretty well. Ironically, RAW, Devil's Sight only effects darkness, not dim light. So, if you don't start with dark vision, slap shadow sorcerer on there and now perfect night vision in all forms and manner of darkness, while also giving you more spell slots to work with.
@@HulkTheSurgeon my last hexblade was a shadow sorcerer multiclass build lol. Made him the grim reaper with schizo-like personality disfunctions since his own mind (and shadow magic) was his patron. (FFXIV players probably know what I’m talking about!)
For real. Add a bit of hex blade to swashbuckler rogue and your now magic pirate gets to go all in on charisma, medium armor, and booming blade access (works very well w/ ability to disengage).
Hard to know where to stop dipping. Many faces and misty visions go very well w/ deception expertise and jacked charisma. Plus what rogue doesn’t want an invisible familiar? (Owl flyby cheese is a thing, but it is cheese.)
I love playin hexadin
@@jemm113 Don't know FFXIV, but this idea kind of gives me Raziel from Legacy of Kain vibes.
The one thing that I absolutely love about the Hexblade is that they can cast Wrathful Smite at level one before the Paladin.😅
And cursed bringer and Eldridge smite make you an even better paladin I made character, were you take a Aasimar (evil shroud one) to be a Son of an eldritch horror and mix that with the fact he’s a 6 year older (more like 600 years but with the mindset of a little boy) and you an absolute monster
Whenever I'm asked "How can you justify a lawful good Hexadin / Witchknight?" my answer is just: "Garran Crowe".
>Why would your paladin have a fiendish sword!?
“I could never trust anyone else to handle it, let alone wield it, lest they succumb to its temptation and will…”
@@jemm113
Also a good character flaw: can’t trust others, absolute narcissist in some regards.
@@sharojak9401 100% he’s not tempted to unleash the sword, but trusts absolutely no one and secretly thinks those around him are tempted. Which may not even be wrong but could lead to making unnecessary errors in judgement.
Flavor, the patron is the Paladin's deity, or establish an existing conduit that can act as the patron.
Reflavor it and make the hexblade a magical girl. I don't watch any magical girl anime, but I get the vibe it'd work.
I’m really looking forward to The Oath of the Ancient paladin, and the shepherd druid. Nothing is cooler than walking out of a wizard fireball and telling him that barely hurts. Also, with the shepherd druid, you can reenact that scene from Shrek two where Snow White summons, a flock of birds to attack her enemies.
The best part of shepeard druid is getting downed by the assassin and then bees pour out of your every oraface to sting the assassin to death
@@jamieadams2589never thought a hippie could be so metal
Lore heavily implies the hexblade is a gift from the raven queen, goddess of death.
Did I hear someone say "Shadar-kai Hexblade"? 😉👂✋
@jameslabrat5177 that's one of my characters actuall,
@@rayofhop3 cool, man! I wanna play with a character like this too! Are you enjoying?
It's great. He is sent to the forgotten realms by the Raven Queen as a punishment because he failed to capture the mage that stole a magic item in the fortress of memories. He is entrusted with the magic weapon, Raven's Edge, that can eat the memories(and power) of magic items and give it to the Raven Queen. The catch? The holder's memories eaten by the blade everytime he use it, except for the memory of his mission: to find the mage(and find as many magic item to give to raven edge).
Bit by bit, he's starting to forget everything and how things work, his family, friends, even common sense. And that's not all. Raven's Edge is sentient, and constantly talking to him. Imagine having a Joker(yes, THE joker in batman) in your mind laughing and giggling, always asks for food. Other characters often correct him on how things works, and often leads to hilarious moments
These vids are sick and have the quality of someone with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. You're hilarious and the edits are timely and practical. Keep up the same quality and you'll be there in no time.
I appreciate that!
@youmightbeadnd I wanna hear the full song 0:10 i know there is a creator in the description but i dont know which song
When I watched this video it was such high quality, good content and hilarious that I thought for sure it would have hundreds of thousands of views and probably be years old. I checked under the video and was incredibly surprised to see how recent the video was and how few views it had. This is some top tier content and I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t have 30 other videos like this to binge, but that just means I’ll gladly watch you blow up in this space! Cant wait for more videos. I rarely subscribe to channels but you definitely earned my subscription. Excited to see the next video man!
The shepard druid one is very good
Thanks for the content. I stumbled into DnD and went pure hexblade on a whim. I've played other classes since, but never felt so casually powerful.
I knew the witch-knight would be mentioned! While I know the power isn’t exactly great, the flavor of the Horizon Walker Ranger Conclave would be perfect for one of these videos!
These videos have been so great. Can't wait to see what's next
I love this whole series. The perfect combination of information and humor.
Man oh man, I love all these small DnD channels popping up. I'm going to look forward to more from you with this type of fun editing
Yay. Another video. Combine Hexblade with Paladin for an amazing multiclass.
Oathbreaker specifically has some great synergy with x3 CHA damage and if you pick the right spells you can be a pretty passible overlord summoning demons and undead to buff with your aura as well as the spectre you get native from hexblade. Short rest before breaking camp get your spells back and triple smite on a booming blade with searing, divine, and eldritch and just watch your target evaporate.
Loving the content. Keep up the great work 👍😁👍
I’m playing a hexblade this Friday starting a new campaign. And god was your video top tier. You got a like and a sub keep it up man you’re going places with your videos 👏🖤🗡️💀
You didn't mention this, but Spirit Shroud is god-tier for Hexblades. It gives you an extra 1d8 damage on all of your attacks that goes up to 2d8 at level 9, plus some nice debuffs. My Hexblade uses this spell all the time and he can just tear through hordes of enemies like its nothing.
Excellent video. Appeared at the top of the list when I searched Hexblade. No regrets, keep making banger content my dude!
First time watching your videos after youtube suggested to them, and man, i love your style already
Excited to see what you bring in the future!! nwn
Really enjoying your content you make dnd super relatable. Good stuff bro👍👊
Wow, you’ve made your videos on my 3 latest characters, love your content
Another top 5 subclass -- thanks again!!!
Actually, eldritch smite is 1d8 plus an additional 1d8 per spell level, so at level 7 it would be 5d8 damage.
Thinking about creating an Aasimar hexblade and I’m glad to see a complete breakdown
Man, how come such a small and new channel have such fire and bingeable content?
And even worse, there's only THREE videos, looking forward to more
Keep up the amazing work
This might be my favourite channel for a while.
Very high quality content. I will share. Cheers 🍻
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH
Hope these keep coming.
This is am awesome channel not sure how it doesnt have more followers.
"I don't know what this has to do with the Hexblade's kit" says someone who has never read the Elric of Melibone books from which the hexblade is directly lifted.
I choose to believe the spectre ability is the soul within your weapon coming out to do its own stuff
I like this vid but the Totem Barbarian is on another level!
I'm sold on hexblade. gotta try it now
Lesgoooo new vid!
i knew this was gonna be the next video. My next assumption is that i will be paladin or echo knight
I hope you do every class eventually cause you're definitely better then the PHB at selling it
I am working on a Rogue hexblade and this helped ;) dual wielding hexblade and pact weapon is pretty bad ass using charisma for both attacks.
Oh, look my other favorite subclass! Hell yes,
I'm looking forward to see what you come up when it's the mystic
Guess im a Hexblade then😅
Verry nice editing and writing by the way ❤
I love the immediate meta of 'didn't I just do that?', with how this guy sounds like he's been doing this for absolute YEARS and has it down.
Tell ya one thing tho, looking forward to this guy's future.
I have had a hexblade for the last 3 years, I use my spells for more teleportation, so I can be anywhere, and If I say it, you die, my party calls me the glass nuke, I only get one shot, but that shot is going to kill you, as long as I don’t die first
YES ANOTHER
Hey buddy... you're gonna get subs fast with this awesome content
In one of my groups I am currently running a Samurai/Hexblade multiclass. For thematic purposes mostly. Will have to see how deep into Hexblade I am going to go with that one. Probably 10/10 tops.
I wanna make an actual hex girl now with hexblade x bard
I love this channel
This is gold 🏆
Would love if you did Swashbuckler soon!!
I’ve never played D&D but I’ve always wanted to and even though I know basically nothing about the game I honestly want my first character to be a warlock and wield a rapier and now I know i can
I used to be a Hexblade, but then I became a Magus! As I shrugged off that critical hit I took from a wizard in the back. And walked away like a boss to explore new lands!
Hexblades are tied to the shadowfel, which is where the undead stuff comes from
my actual character is a hexblade/swashbuckler. i did like the bonus to the initiative and the way sneak attack works in that subclass, besides it goes along with the personality
Oh man, can't wait for Gloomstalker!
So I kinda have to disagree with everything but that hex girl reference gets you my like.
I'm looking forward to more. Do you have any other media?
So I have a concept for a patron that facilitates a more heroic version of the hexblade warlock, and I have a goal of doing this for each warlock subclass (that needs it).
For the heroic hexblade patron, I present to you "The Myriad"
This patron is not one entity, but a collection of entities, each entity being a previous wielder of this power. The inherent nature of the power they grant is of that of death, but they only choose to grant that power to those who share their core characteristic and/or ideal.
You can make this characteristic or ideal whatever you like, but I'm proposing a patron that facilitates the heroic hexblade warlock, so for that purpose, the characteristic would likely be best if it were something heroic like an innate tendency to help those in need.
Its not all nice. Part of being a warlock is often times offering your soul. This is no different, because by accepting the pact with The Myriad, you devote yourself to joining them after death, being the conduit through which someone else gains this power, as well as the judge of whether or not they're worthy.
Now, why a blade? Or a weapon, even, since the warlocks hex blade and/or pact weapon can take on a myriad of forms themselves? Imagine an ancient warrior of great power binding their very soul through death magic to their own weapon, sacrificing their chance at an afterlife just so a great evil can be defeated, or, to slip into critical role nomenclature for a second, a weapon that was like a failed attempt at a vestige of divergence, granting it great power with minimal connection to the God or Goddess of death, but still has much of the power that it was intended to, and has been binding those who take up the charge of wielding it, the first person to wield it informing the requirements for future wielders.
Not a lot of abilities that hexblades uniquely have need to be further explained, so I'll leave you all with a flavoring idea I had for one of the more questionable hexblade abilities; accursed specter.
If you or your player have problems running a "heroic" character who kills people and raises their souls, work with your dm/player, whoever this idea is being presented to. Take the time to make a list of 8, 10, 12, 20, or even 100 (some people will go that far) characters that your dm can pull from when you use accursed specter. All you need is visual descriptions, because these will be previous "chosen" of the myriad patron. They still need life force to manifest, but you're not keeping a soul from passing, you're using a soul that willingly bound itself to your patron, as you did, to take form once again and fight on your behalf. You can even use this idea for other necromancy abilities like summon shadowspawn and danse macabre.
Hope some people like this idea!
I actually like this idea in that it pulls away from the usually dark cursed item created by an evil god and makes it like a Paladin taking on an oath. You’re agreeing to devoting your life to a cause and that bind to others like yourself who came before is what gives you power. In essence you could have multiple NPCs appear to your character each time you gain an ability and they’d become like teachers for you. The one example that comes to mind would be in My Hero Academia with the quirk One for All. All the previous users can appear in the mental scape of the current user to show them how the power works. I just think it’s fun that your warlock gets visited by a mage when you change out your spells or a former eldritch knight because you chose Booming Blade as your melee cantrip. And it can still be done under a Witchknight title.
It gives me vibes that are a mix between One For All from My Hero Academia and the Sword of Power from He-Man. Which is totally cool and I love it.
Fun fact; 11 levels of EK combos well with 6 levels of Bladesinger. But that leaves 3 levels…. GUES WHAT WORKS WELL WITH THOSE TOO. So you don’t get smites, but you can blade beam Eldritch Blasts from a +1 spooky weapon 7 times if you’re under the effects of Haste WHILE HAVING A FREE +INT TO DAMAGE, and also, the Invocation feat goes off TOTAL LEVEL except for pact specific ones, so you can still have your Relentless Hex, Hexblade Curse + Hex combo
I honestly dont know why i cant make a character without hexblade..... at least a 1 level dip on any caster makes a huge difference.
You should do rune knight next
Can you do a video on the witch knight that you mentioned?
Hexblade+Oathbreaker Paladin= Hexbreaker.
Aka Hexbreak their KNEES TIMMOTHY!!!!
Add your charisma to damage 3 separate times! Or *BESTOW CURSE YOUR FOES INTO THE GRAVE* 3 times per short rest. Or obtain funny skelebro friends
Wow this is great! I'm new to dnd and trying out my first campaign. I was doing an arcane trickster pirate captain, but then I saw this video and it has me thinking about going hexlock instead. I made the mistake of looking into warlock more, is Fiendlock a summoner?! Could you make a Fiendlock video when you have time? I find your delivery so enjoyable and pretty much streamlines it for a beginner. Thanks again for your videos.
holly this sub class is stupid good
Got my sub mainly because of the tripp pants reference.
So far this channel has covered 4 edge lords
-Hexblade Warlock
-Gloomstalker Ranger
-Assassin Rogue
-Grave Domain Cleric
Hexblade 12 oath of ancients 8. Max feats, high ac, resistance to spell damage, resistance to radiant damage, a +1 to all saves for you and all in your aura of protection (in addition to sharing your resistance to spell damage) and most of the crazier things that hexblades do.

Yes 🙌🏼
I like how you talk about how hexblade is totally not for nerds yet I chose it for being the closest to the tactician class from fire emblem 💀

Eldritch smite is 1d8 + 1d8 for every level of spell slot. EVERY level. So, with 4th level spell slot, its actually 5d8.
Oathbreaker paladin could be next
Goddamn I love the Hexblade. They’re just so versatile and still ridiculously powerful, both inside and outside of combat.
I’m currently playing face for my party with a Hexblade that is a mix of a rogue and a bard rp-wise while doing as much damage as any Barbarian or fighter, thanks to devils sight-darkness-great weapon master wombocombo, and I’ll only go up from here, getting some party-support with things like permanent detect magic outside of combat, thanks to eldritch sight or invisibility on demand at level 15.
Sure, it ain’t no wizard in terms of Swiss knifing situations, but it’s still decently close if you’re careful about your spellist.
Spooky is the fact that im planning on making a hexblade with no research done on it and this popped up in my recommended
Can you do echo knight. I need a clear idea of how to play that confusing class
My Count Dooku character is a Hexblade (multiclassed with Swashbuckler)
the shadow sorcerer should get the accursed specter but with a better hp scaling since they're more of a full caster type class......

Can you multiclass with eldritch knight?
@thelonecourier3439 if you set or roll your stats properly I'm pretty sure
@@pauliepizzo8633 i wonder whats like planning with the mixed classes
Can you do Grave Domain Cleric?
0:09 The class that started his meme
One tiny correction: Eldritch Smite deals 1d8 force damage PLUS another 1d8 for every level of the pact magic slot used. So a 5th-level slot will result in 6d8 damage, it's amazing. Make sure to save it for crits, which you're basically MADE to fish for with Hexblade's Curse and Shadow of Moil. (If you also have Elven Accuracy, go absolutely ham.)
I'd also recommend Tomb of Levistus for real "oh shit" moments, cuz sometimes you don't have the PM slots to teleport away, and maybe you can't afford to eat that crit from the boss.
If your channel doesn't have half a million subscribers before 2024, eldritch blasting the president
I know I'm a bit late, but I'll convince the elder one to let me do it any day now
The only thing that would make the hexblade absurdly broken beyond redenption is that they learned haste and steel wind strike by themselves.
DAMN THE HEX GIRLS!? My favorite scooby doo verse band.
Hexblade backstory idea: your patron is your necromancer lover who transferred their soul into the hexblade.
Hexblade shall henceforth be known as Witch Knight 🔥 🔥 🔥
So i can heh nothing personal kid people? Definitely trying this class.
I would take fiendish vigor 2-4 because you have so few hit points, 8 extra replenishable ones are indispensable.
I would so flavor this as a cleric subclass
I low key thought of dealing with these 3 as a dm and my soul died a little.😢
Eldritch Smite is 1d8 +(1d8 per Spell slot level)
How about multiclass it to a rogue swachbuckler? 🤔
(Shadar-kai)
Oddly enough, my Hexblade Paladin multiclass character was probably the purest, most wholesome straightforward good guy character I've ever made. ...He was also incredibly traumatized....
Nasty!
6:33 Actually, Mystic Arcanum explicitly states they do _not_ take a spell slot
The biggest downside of Mystic Arcanum is that you cannot upcast even if you want to. You get what is essentially a dedicated spell slot that you can only use for the spell that is bound to it, and you cannot cast the spell with any other slot.
@@theuncalledfor so like how spell slots worked in A'D&D
