I remember playing as a dhampir paladin in a gothic campaign. My party was fighting against mutated vampire count and when im about to run out spell and my channel divinity is about to wear off, i slap my trusty silver sword with a level 3 divine smite. Im basically in the front, toe to toe with the bbeg, and surrounded by his vampire minions. After my turn came the sorcerer of my party. I said to her "Rain them down." And the sorcerer almost hesitated and reply "but you're in front." I reply again "Let them burn." The sorcerer starts droping fireball towards the bbeg and the minions. Since i have the shield master feat, i rolled nat20 in my dex save. I never felt so alive...
Recently played an Oath of Vengeance Paladin Hexblade multiclass and this video is pretty accurate. I am so pleased with YMBD's use of the SMITE joke. 😂 The only way I could see said jokes getting better is by making the words shake or move around instead of flash, as the oscillating lights kind of hurt my eyes when I look at them. But yeah, great video. Can't wait to see the next one!
I personally allow all vengeance paladins to gain the spell "Fuck that one guy in particular" as a 1 a day class spell that can be cast through their slots
I just pieced together a Fallen Aasimar Vengeance Paladin for a new game my friends and I are going to start soon. I normally play fairly basic classes, Rogue, Fighter, Wizard are my normal go too, but I wanted to try something different. I'm fairly excited to try this character out, I started D&D 20 years ago with 3.5 and often still think of the traditional Paladin and have often been annoyed by the newer Paladins with more flavor, but reading through the description and building one has my interest! Though I'm more of an RPer, I can't wait to experience the melee potential of this beast!
The character I'm playing as in Curse of Strahd is a female headless Reborn(Yes I wanted to play as a Dullahan without having to homebrew) who happens to be a Oath of Vengeance Paladin with her backstory being after her and the noble family she belonged to the Ashland Family were wrongfully accused of a crime they didn't commit by a wicked rival family the Blackthorn Family and their allies they were wrongfully executed aka legal murder with her manner of murder being decapitation with as final insult the Blackthorn Family taking her head as a trophy and throwing her fresh headless corpse complete with signet ring, and scroll of pedigree in a ditch but unbeknownst to the Blackthorn Family and their allies before being beheaded she swore an oath of vengeance against the Blackthorn Family and their allies a oath that was heard by the Raven Queen who in exchange for becoming one of the goddess's eternal champions of vengeance against evil, raised her from the dead and gave her the power to take vengeance upon the Blackthorn Family, and their allies. Yes my main character inspiration was The Crow.
Bruh, ya gotta do soul knife rogue next and please tell me the truth on this If you dip into fighter, use the blades teleportation ability, use main, extra, action surge to teleport three times, is this actually possible to do?

The one thing I always struggled with when using Paladin was the fact you just sorta feel like a lightly seasoned martial. You play like a burst martial but it requires you to exchange being able to do any of the neat things that spells allow you to do. I dunno, it just felt like there wasn’t a whole lot of flavor outside of channel divinity and smite, compared to wizard or bards who get all sorts of interesting spellcasting on top of subclass features.
RUclipsrs try not to act like smites are better than casting spells as a paladin challenge (actually impossible) I get its a meme but like... its a meme bc ppl actually do this and then new players dont realize they are not actually supposed to do it and they do it too. If you use command to make the enemy flee then you get to smite on your oppurtunity attack, and the rogue next you gets to use sneak attack on their attack of oppurtunity, and the enemy doesnt get a turn if it lives. Bless usually adds more damage to a combat than any single smite. Aid is a rly good all day buff and a good way to pick up multiple party members in a bad situation. Watching pallys blow all of their spell slots in one fight is wild bc after thay ur like a glorified fighter the rest of the day.
Fighter/Paladin is one of the best multiclasses in D&D. 10 levels in Champion Fighter and 10 levels in any Paladin subclass gives you 3 basic actions, 3 fighting styles, an improved critical, half your proficiency bonus to strength rolls, healing abilities, smites, action surge and a bunch more. Just so good!
Really love all your vids, this has been my new fave RUclips channel! Shame about the advertising you just added, and that’s a dealbreaker for me unfortunately. Thanks, it’s been fun!
This doesn't sound like a Paladin to me. How would the Paladin's powers work when not fighting enemies that have anything to do with his vengeance targets? To be embued with the powers of a Paladin you have to be selfless as well as righteous. Vengeance is a selfish act, Strong enough that maybe you could receive power to enact vengeance personally but not enough where you'd be able to use it against a group of bandits or a random hill giant and you can't just say you're enacting vengeance for everybody on everything... that's just having your cake and eating it to necessitate this character. What happens once you complete your vengeance? Then you'll just be a normal person again. I think we're forgetting that a Paladin's power comes from something higher than themselves. This is counter to what a Paladin should be. What possible power would embue somebody to be an archon of vengeance? That be just about everybody who has ever felt wronged by someone. If that were the case their be so many Paladins of Vengeance in multitude they'd be substantially weaker than other paladins.
