In fact, my idea about him is that in the past he was physically tough and strong [even because not only he climbed a mountain alone, but he also guided a large group of people through the desert, covering hundreds of kilometers on foot (and I guess it because as you might have noticed in the game, Temple Gate is located in a desolated place which is unreachable through traditional means of transport, and that's also why Blake and Lynn had to use an helicopter to arrive there)], but since he was the prophet and the supreme commander of Temple Gate and so he was the only member of the cult who was basically allowed to do what he wanted, I imagine that he immediately started to lead a corrupted and debauched lifestyle, which included repeatedly having sex with most women of his cult and eating much more than his disciples [who are all thin, even scrawny sometimes (especially the scalled, who are literally left to starve)]. This basically lead him becoming obese and even sick (because as you know, he takes penicillin to treat his syphilis caused by years of unprotected sex)
@@hisanai96 I actually wonder if we may see a young Knoth in Outlast Trials. There's definitely hints in Outlast 2 as well as Trials' trailers that Murkoff is interested in creating a religion that revels in violent depravity, and Knoth having been an MK-Ultra subject would explain why he was so susceptible to that strange radio signal that 'inspired' him to start his cult.

I don't think we'll see him in person, but there's been mentions of a 'reagent' who was released back into society only for a minister to tip off Murkoff about his potential. Wouldn't be surprised if this is a young Knoth. Maybe the gameplay will revolve around creating the 'voice of god' that will be broadcasted into the public to activate people like Knoth...
Joseph and knoth are more dangerous than any real cult leader because they genuinely believe in what they preach the only difference being joseph abides by his rules while knoth doesn't
Don’t get me wrong, Outlast 2 is a great game, but one of my main complaints about it is hyping up cool characters in trailers but have them under-utilized in the actual game
I think the most unbelievable aspect of either of these games is the idea that Sulivan climbed a mountain.
Knoth was probably a healthy and attractive man in his youth. The obese slovenly mess we know him as is the result of decades of sinful luxury.

I will say, I do wish we saw more of a lot of the villains in this game. I personally wanted more of Knoth and Val. They intrigued me the most.
