  • In this video I will show you the basic 5 tricks I think every beginner should start working on in order to develop control over the contact staff. I give a brief overview of every move and what skills you will develop by learning it. The video is ordered according to the difficulty of each trick, so the ones I show at the beginning are easier to learn and they get progressively more difficult.
Here are more detailed tutorials for each trick:

Not the most beginning tricks in my opinion, but that might just because I'm not using an actual staff

Do you need a specific or customised staff for these movements or any staff would do.

Hello, I have no experience teaching contact staff to blind people, but what I can say is that i am sure that you can learn basically anything even if you can´t see. I would recommend you get a heavier staff, and have the extra weight on the extremeties of the staff. This will make it easier to feel where the staff is and also make the rotation smoother. Also, i think it would help if you put some extra grippy tape (like skateboard tape or something that you can quickly feel with your hands) to help you feel where the center point is.
      Hope this helps!

It's not effective in Combat and a staff is never used , a spear , a Spike or a Halberd is used and they aren't really spun
It's only to sell the art to students , not used in fights
A spear is THE best weapon that doesn't shoot a projectile like a pistol or a crossbow
I have been training in Jeet Kune Do , Shaolin , Boxing and Kickboxing since I was 5 and I'm 41
I am a expert in CQC , CQB and any kind of Combat armed or unarmed
I do not teach Civilian CQC methods although through the years I have trained people
    That's why I don't anymore
I feel guilty for teaching people the most effective ways to kill people
I recommend learning Wudang San Feng Pai specifically these forms :
Tai He Quan , Taiyi Wuxing Quan and Zhang San Feng Tai Chi Sword
These are difficult, beautiful and the techniques are great for fighting
