    I,ve been spinning since the mid 90's. Learned from a VHS tape ordered off the early internet=dial up!! LED poi were softball sized monstrosity with 10 pitiful red points of light, you learn real quick not to get hit. I supposed for me it was a valuable skill when I graduated to spinning fire, both poi and staff.
    You are a true testament that there's always something new! This old dog has some new tricks to learn. I can't wait to binge your playlist! As the years have gone by, technology has completely changed the flow gear on the market. With the new lightweight, brightly lit & safer gear, add the laws of gravity and momentum =Viola!!! Super sick moves like Dauntes flower. I'm subbed after this first vid. Thank you in advance for all your pearls of wisdom !

    I have my first poi showing up Sunday, and recently got to try them at my first camping festival that made me fall in love with poi! Thank you so much for everything you do, Drex! Much love from Ohio!

    Hi Drex, I'm interested in taking up poi as a hobby, but i have mobility issues and usually struggle to stand for any length of time. Could you please do a video on what beginner techniques one could learn from a seat/wheelchair?

      I'd say that most poi moves are easy from a chair

      Hi! Have you looked into contact juggling? Another flow art that can be done seated. That being said you can deffo get some poi. Shorten them and do some tricks like isolations, 3beat wave etc. Have fun flowing 😊

      @@ElizabethFoxy thankyou so much 😁 i've never heard of contact juggling but i'll give it a look. Have a great day!

      Your chair doesn't hinder your flow!😊 Have you tried orbital spinners? You can do some amazing color patterns & hand wrap moves. Sock poi is another option similar to the juggling one earlier. Almost all moves (accept leg wraps) use wrists, arms and brain. Tap into your SuperFlow!

    Great video, Drex! I am sharing with my flow arts friends. I actually have to admit one of my worst issues is windmills (despite doing poi and performing with it for over 7 years now) and other 2-beat weaves. But I have found videos to review them, and I love the anti spin steps you provided - will give those a try. Great tips!!

    I love all of your videos Drex. Who's the best [by that, I, of course, mean your favorite] hoop tutorial content creator?
    Please list a few. There's no best at anything, and there's no reason to hurt people's feelings or to single anyone out.
    Respect and love

    I..... Wow. I just had that moment I haven't had in years. I have been very nonchalantly leisurely spinning in basic-land for over a decade, and never quite landed antispins. They kind of happen, but I always accepted the imperfection due to my lack of drilling planes.
    But I watched the breakdown, rewinded and watched it again, put down my phone and said, "...what?"
    Dug out a poi, tried it out, and *click*. Man I miss those clicks! What a good feeling. Thanks, Drex!
    (And I totally had my pitchfork out).

      Might I add, the click was for not only the flowers, but stalls in general 😅

    how applicable is the Diamond and the flower (the last two tricks) with Fire poi? just "not using" one of them is not really an option while on fire, is it possible to do these double handed and with two poi?

  • @Synthetic_Shell
    @Synthetic_Shell Год назад

    You made the last two tricks look much more manageable than I expected, but you were only using one hand. Doing two hands at the same time is where it's difficult.

    • @DrexFactor
      @DrexFactor  Год назад +1

      You can do both in together same and that's a reasonably low impact way to get both hands involved, but yes if you want to do any other timing and direction mode it's going to be a little more of a challenge.

    Can I ask how did you made that light-tail effect in the video? Was that in post production or did you use like, shatter speed in your camera?
