Beautiful specimen! I grow my trichoglottis mounted on a piece of cork ( hanging downward) and it has tripled in size. I hope mine one day grows as big as yours. I find them fascinating to grow and I love how long their flowers last. Thank you for sharing 💜

Hi Olivier. It sure has beautiful blooms with deep rich colors. It does have strange growing habits. That one needs its own tree.

Yes it is pendulous and unless you grow it upside down, it is like a vine and it needs a support. The size is another issue. The color of those flowers is very special....

Hello, I just got a baby Trichoglottis atropurpurea/brachiata (only had for about a month now) - he's tiny, so much so that he's as tall as he is wide (8cm tall by like 9cm wide/4 large leaves total, about six smaller near the roots, again a baby). Was advised by seller to mount as soon as possible, "be careful, but mount it" he said..
    So I did.
(With no moss touching roots or plant.)
New roots are coming in already.
Mounted him on a 24 inch tapered piece of cholla-wood (I can hang him/and it stands).
I fertilize once a week, same mix I give my other orchids (phal. & den.).
I'm still getting to know this plant, some people say no direct afternoon sun..😮
...IDK that I've been following that suggestion...😅
    But he's happy..😊
    .
I'm still working out how to water him.
Picture a plant, that is kinda fully formed (like I can see it grows just like yours/same morphology), but fits completely in the palm of your hand...🤏🏼
So, naturally, he dries in 5 minutes.
I've taken the advise "let dry between watering" literally.
But I'm in South Florida, when I hang him for morning - till noon - the sun, dries it in the blink of an eye..👀
So I'm guilty of watering him multiple times a day..🤷🏻‍♂️
    I suppose it'll be like that while he's small, I suppose..🤔
    .
    Any advice on that, specifically..?
Like, is it ok to water a plant so much, so long as it's super small and actually dries..?
(Had two new root sprouts, ea. over 2cm a piece.
    ... And, new main-leaf coming-in..👀
    Seems happy..😂
Just a touch uncertain as to whether I need to be so 'intense' with the watering schedule, despite seeming like he's fine?
Like, do smaller plants need to be treated like this.. 🤔?
    Hydrated this much?
    .
BTW, I got mine based off of the color of the flower.
I literally looked-up, "deepest-red orchid", and this species popped up..😮
You have one of the most beautiful specimens I've ever seen.
    It's Ginormous!
    Love it!!! 😊
Thank you so much for sharing!
Wouldn't really know what I'm in for without your video..😅
    😂😊🙋🏻‍♂️
    Thank you for sharing!
(Sorry I'm late to the party, didn't have the plant 9 months ago..😢. I don't even think he was born yet..😢).

Well: advice 101: when what you do works, you should continue what you are doing no matter what other people say...
If you have plenty of root growth, you are doing the right thing.
      Congrats and good luck!

Excellent, thank you for the vote of confidence..!!
I just noticed it had a third root growing from behind, attaching to the cholla-mount, so yay!!!
      .
I am about to change residence from an apartment to a small, humble little well-lit home.
I'm planning on at least documenting some of the plants i have and whatnot.
Thank you for sharing all your advice and guidance, very helpful!!!
(I'll take a few videos now that he's still small so people can follow the journey.)
      Thank you for the inspiration!!
Blessed be - to you and your little beautiful babies!!!

Does it get enough light? Is it mounted or potted? Do you fertilize it? Is it warm enough where the plants grows?

Beautiful orchid and what a nice long branch to mount it on . I am quite curious what idea you come up with for the extension of the branch ……

Can you help me understand or diagnose the reason the stem dried up almost all over the plant. The leaves started falling. I sprayed it 2x with dithane, i can see that the leaves stop falling after. Should i cut it? please advise and thank you in advance Olivier

    • @orchidhouse
      @orchidhouse  2 месяца назад

I'm sorry but it is tough to diagnose diseases, especially just by a description. Mine has also bursts of leaves dropping and there are black areas on the stem but then new stems grow from it. I would advise patience and give it time and keep on treating if it seems to be working. It may come back. Good luck :)

Hi Olivier. My Brachiata was at its prime in summer, but when the monsoon began, although it is out of the rain, it has begun turning yellow. I trimmed it and sprayed it, but it isn’t helping. The plant is beginning to whither. In India, although it is sold widely, I’m yet to see a bloom. Some people do showcase their blooms, but hardly a couple of flowers, and rarely, I’m thinking we don’t have the right conditions for it?

    • @orchidhouse
      @orchidhouse  Год назад +1

This plant needs good light, less than Vanda but still good light. If it does not develop that is one possibility? It is also a warm growing plant. Is it warm where you grow it?

That's pretty good for an orchid. Some Dendrobiums and many Phal hybrids last longer but that is not the norm....

hi Oliver, do you know how to divide this plant?

    • @orchidhouse
      @orchidhouse  6 месяцев назад +1

It makes lots of new side growths. I would divide healthy new growths with multiple roots and mount them
