There's one thing that the Quest 1 still beats the others: Colors and Darkness.. because it uses an OLED display, it can get very bright or very dark! Seriously, i thought i went blind when i looked into the sun when i was racing in AMS2!
I have two quest 1s (bought these to play space pirate arena with friends) but I disagree. Oled panels like quest 1, psvr 2 and older headset use Pentile pixel stripes. So no full 3 subpixels per pixels. This isnt as much of any issue on tvs and phones (because those are very sharp anyway) but it certainly is with VR. Adding with other drawbacks like black smear, mura, motion clarity and apparently difficulties to use them with pancake lenses at reasonable prices, a full RGB stripe LCD is better suited for Vr at this time in technology imo. Not having perfect blacks is for sure a small drawback but its much smaller than the drawbacks listed before with oled.
the quest 2 got an antutu score of 411k, the quest 3 got 1.01M gou score on q2 is 130k on q3 its 530k, now its technically not extremely accurate because quest 2 can only use the lite gpu test, but considering it still got such a low score. its safe to say the xr2 gen2 is more of an upgrade then people think
@@synonymdonut iv never experienced stutters, i even up the resolution using quest games optimizer (i didn't up the cpu and gpu level for the benchmark) different headsets seemed to have different quality's with passthrough, maybe its the same thing with performance? although that would make alot less sense
I bought a Meta-Oculus Rift S one year before they dropped their support of this product. The Rift S worked well until I updated my computer. Now two years later and after a year of Meta stupid suggestions for getting my Rift S working again, it's still not working. I have a $400 paper weight that Meta refuses to fix even though they say my new computer should not be a problem. I cannot recommend buying any Meta products due to their lack of customer service and having a chance of the same dropping of older products support. Meta basically has no customer service and only lip service!
Great video, Can I ask what is the maximum controller tracking limit when you move your arms around and away from the front of the headset, quest 2 and quest 3 specifically. From other videos I've seen people complain the tracking is worse on the quest 3 than quest 2.
From experience, the quest 3 is less prone to losing track of the controllers when you put them behind your back, then the quest 2. I think this is because the quest 3 will track your hands and even arms to estimate the location
@@synonymdonuti have a quest 1 and thinking of upgrading to a quest 3 and your video is perfect. My issue with the quest 1 is that when I'm playing racing games using pcvr, it's so blurry and pixelated that I can't see the road ahead so it isn't really playable. Hi there, the controler knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to guide the controller from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the controller is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the controller must also know where it was. Hope this helps

Your mom shouldn't get the 1 since it's pretty much dead now and is losing support for many games and features. I say the Quest 2 is a good price at 200 dollars new or even less if you get a used one for like 150 and is probably going to work until 2026, versus the 1 which is definitely dying by 2024.

you definitely can, especially when the Quest 1 was considered a good value when it launched at the same $500 price point. compared to the Quest 2, the Quest 3 has a 1.3x increase in screen resolution, 1.5x the CPU power, and 2.5x the graphical power (these are approximations); better passthrough with higher quality color cameras, better inside out tracking for headset and controller positioning, as well as a more compact form factor that will feel more comfortable, etc. It's fine if you don't feel its enough to justify purchasing over the quest 2 fo you personally, but its most definitely justifiable.
