@@Fourby4Diesel GXL? Horrible. Suspension is waaaaaaaaaay to stiff unless the one I drove had 50 psi in the tyres. If it didnt then Toyota messed up big time with the non AVS suspension. Unbearable.
My n70 is pushing 400,000km zero issues..... Jxt changed a cylinder head at come point cz a thieving mechanic stole my factory cylinder head cz I was trying to fix an issue where by it was going into limp mode everytime it hits 160km/h....... But after the cylinder head replacement I pretty much do everything myself on it, fixed that issue it was a faulty crankshaft position sensor......I've heard that you guys in have the worst stories to tell about the 1kd while in New Zealand and here in south Africa we pretty much don't get that stress like that 😅
I wouldn't buy a new one I have the gd hilux SR5 and disabled at 52 yr old male from a cruel disease ,and have 120 k on the clock of mine with a stretched timing chain and tensioner ,was going to fix it myself been watching Anthony the legend teach us about changing injectors ,i would be all over injectors ,but I think this timing chain issue with the 1 gd owners is too extensive to fix by themselves ,most people buy toyotas for reliability i know i did but that's just a dream shattered with some costly repair bills coming ,my toyota hilux has been sitting in the shed for 3 months can't be stuffed about fixing it ,I wouldn't buy another Toyota four wheel drive for reliability feel let down and broken .
Hybrids are the next disaster awaiting used owners The batteries are small, get cycled constantly and are big ticket wear items Look at the hybtid battery warranties: may be for 7/8 years but if limited to 100,000km tells you what makers expect.
@Fourby4Diesel That's largely because historically they used NiMH batteries which have lower energy density but are far more robust and long lasting than Lithium Ion batteries. Toyota are however offering extended battery warranties out to 15 years for which there is a fee, but fair enough: Ferrari do same with their hybrids which effectively gives you 2 battery Swaps during 15 years and covers failures. That costs €7500 per year though... My comment is really around other makers, who have been pushing out some really dreadful hybrids with lousy battery management and cooling systems, offer a warranty which may have headline 7/8 years but is limited to 100,000km. And then want huge sums to replace duff batteries That has already started to poison the used market for hybrids in US and Europe, which had been holding up mainly thanks to the good reputation of Toyota hybrids like the Prius
Was liking the 250 until I saw and drove it. Going the y62 patrol but keeping the old hilux Aswel
How would you describe the drive?

Toyota hybrids have been around for decades, and they have proven to be not a problem

If you buy a hybrid just buy a Toyota......proven technology over decades of use.
The new hybrid players yet to prove their worth in the wild.....ymmv
Exactly right lucky to get 10 years from the battery
